Magic
Primary Magic: Signatus Circulus
Secondary Magic: NA
Caster or Holder: Holder
Description: Despite being born with great magical potential, Eli falls short on actually being able to utilize it. Unable to properly shape and form magic, Eli requires something to work as a substitute. Through near endless research and struggle, Eli developed a method to shape his magic through outside forces. By creating a series of magical glyphs in an intricately designed circle, the circle works almost like a formula for the spell, shaping and controlling the magic for him. By supplying his own magical power to the circle, Eli acts almost as a battery for the magic, doing nothing more than releasing his magical power. Whenever the power is released the circle activates, consuming itself to properly release the spell. It requires a guide however, to properly absorb and use his magical power. To tie the circle to himself, it must contain some of his blood. Eli created an ink using his blood, one that is waterproof and binds the circle to him. Using only his blood works as well, but is vulnerable to be washed away and disturbed.
Eli uses his magic in combination with his own techniques. He chooses to work more like an assassin or thief, using tricks and sleight of hand to obscure or sneak his circles past his opponent to attack. To help with this, Eli usually carries a large number of pre-made circles on various objects, almost always including blank playing cards. He also tends to carry a few other objects, such as a few small stones and coins. By hiding his circles in random places, he can sneak attacks the enemy is not ready for, or hide his true method of attack until ready. Eli always tries to think ahead and fool his opponent, using his magic to support him in that.

He chooses to work more like an assassin or thief, using tricks and sleight of hand to obscure or sneak his circles past his opponent to attack. To help with this, Eli usually carries a large number of pre-made circles on various objects, almost always including blank playing cards. By hiding his circles in random places, he can sneak attacks the enemy is not ready for, or hide his true method of attack until ready. Eli always tries to think ahead and fool his opponent, using his magic to support him in that.
Strengths:
- Cooldowns; Since Eli is not actually casting his spells and is simply powering pre-made ones, almost none of his spells have cooldowns, allowing him to fire them off in rapid succession.
- Versatile; Eli's magic is almost all based around versatility and practicality. By using differing elements and attributes to his advantage, he can trick and outplay his opponent, as well as be ready for almost any situation.
- Traps; Eli's circles will work on any object, allowing him to place them in hidden spots as traps for his opponent. He can hide several circles in an area, activating them periodically to ensnare his opponent.
Weaknesses:
- Hard to Make; For his circle to properly work, it must be made to an exact shape with no variations. As such, it takes time for Eli to craft it properly, taking one post to create a circle with perfect concentration, if it was not prepared beforehand.
- Limited Preparation; While Eli can come prepared with several pre-made circles, he can only have so many made beforehand. As such, if an opponent can take his circles from him or force him to use all of them, Eli is left almost defenseless.
- Magic Power Intensive; Eli's magic allows him to pay an increased magic power cost for increased power. As such, it has an intense toll on his magic power, making it easy for an opponent to outlast him and make him run out.
- Melee; Eli's magic doesn't deal very well with melee combat, as he is physically weak and his magic is more designed for range. When he's put into a fight against a brawler, he tends to flounder against them, unable to properly hit them with his spells and dodge their attacks.
Abilities/Powers:
- Magical Battery; Since Eli's magic is formed and shaped by his circles and not himself, he works almost as a battery to them, simply supplying them with magical energy. This allow Eli to increase the power of his spells by feeding more magical power into them, or reduce their strength by providing less. Eli can pay up to twice the cost of the spell to strengthen it, or reduce the cost by half to reduce it. If the spell has no cost, Eli can instead by up to 5% magical power to strengthen it.
- Rapid Fire; Since Eli does nothing more than supply magic power to his spells, he is able to cast them whenever so long as he has circles. This means that none of his abilities have cooldowns, and instead are limited by how many pre-made circles he carried on him at the start of the thread, which must be stated at his entrance. He may also use circles that he created on the spot, taking one post of concentration to create one without any movement. Activating the same circle too quickly will cause it to Overload. If Eli activates the same circle multiple times in one post, it causes it to Overload, prevent him from activating it again for 3 posts. Eli is also limited in the amount of circles he can start a thread with, only able to carry 70 cards, as well as up to 20 other objects, which must be stated at the start of the thread.
- Aura Mastery; Eli is incredibly gifted when it comes to magic, especially when manipulating his magical power. While he is unable to directly cast spells, he can control and manipulate his magical power like a master. As such, Eli is able to almost completely suppress his aura, appearing as if he were a regular human and not a mage. He is also able to efficiently control and manipulate his magical power, knowing exactly how and where to use it with perfection. This causes Eli to be able to reduce the cost of subsequent spells casted in the same post by an amount determined by his rank (D-C 5%, B-S 10%). This effect cannot reduce a spells cost below 5%, and only applies to any spells past the first one casted.
- Signature Spell:
Name: Trudo
Rank: C
Type: Offensive
Description: Different from the rest of Eli's spells, Trudo doesn't consume a circle when used. Rather, it is based on a circle carved into Eli's left hand. A large scar makes the circle itself, carved intricately and made so that way he could use it for his magic. Trudo creates a large explosion of force from his hand when used, dealing damage and strongly knocking back anything it comes into contact with. The explosion affects anything within 30in of his left hand when used, excluding himself. The damage and knockback are stronger the closer to his hand anything is. Since the circle is not consumed, it overloads after every use, going on a 3 Post cooldown.
Strengths:- Knockback; Eli sin't very good at physical combat, and as such using the knockback from Trudo allows him to push enemies away from himself and keep his distance.
- Disorientation; Using Trudo near an enemies head can be incredibly disorientating towards them, often causing their eardrums to pop and dazing them.
- No Circle; While Trudo overloads on every use, it is still a spell Eli can use without a circle, allowing it have great use over extended fights.
Weaknesses:- Left Hand; Since Trudo requires the seal carved into his left hand, Eli is unable to use it effectively if his hand is bound or limited in it's movement.
- Close Combat; Trudo explodes out from Eli's hand and as such can only be used in close combat, which Eli is not particularly strong at.
- Friendly Fire; The only person Trudo does not effect on use is Eli, meaning any allies caught near his hand at the time will also suffer the effects.
- Weapons; Since Trudo comes out from his hand, if Eli is holding a weapon or object, it becomes nearly impossible to actively use without damaging the item.
- Knockback; Eli sin't very good at physical combat, and as such using the knockback from Trudo allows him to push enemies away from himself and keep his distance.
- D Rank:
Name: Tenebra
Rank: D
Type: Darkness, Utility
Description: A base circle, it is one of the foundations of Eli's magic. A small circle designed to channel the power of darkness, Tenebra releases a large shadow to cloak and conceal whatever it is attached too for 3 posts. Tenebra can cover anything up to 2.5m tall. While covered by the shadow, the target is rendered almost invisible to human eyes, and merely difficult to see to targets with strong night vision. Any strong source of light can remove the stealth effect. When the target is fully shrouded by darkness the circle fades from whatever it was on. The circle must be bound to Eli through his blood, which must either be mixed into the ink or used to make the circle. Eli can only activate a circle if it is within 20m of himself. If any damage happens to the circle before it activates, whether it be smudged, ripped, etc, the circle will become inactive. When powered up by Mana Battery, Tenebra releases a large cloud of darkness for 3 posts, around 2.5m in diameter obscuring any vision of targets inside it.
Strengths:- Stealth; Using Tenebra for a temporary stealth, Eli can infiltrate many areas without notice outside of noises he makes.
- Defensive; Eli can also use Tenebra to create a blinding effect on enemies, using the confusion to escape the area.
- Allies; Eli can also use to hide or obscure allies from vision, allowing him to set up a trap fairly effectively.
Weaknesses:- Light; Since Tenebra works by concealing the target in darkness, a strong light can remove it's effects early.
- Friendly Fire; Tenebra's blinding cloud effect can easily blind enemies as well as allies, causing confusion if used in a fight with both and hurting his allies.
- Sounds; While Tenebra conceals the target from sight, it doesn't conceal any sounds they might make while moving or doing anything. As such, being loud or being heard can completely remove the stealth aspect of Tenebra.
- No Offense; Tenebra is a purely utility ability, and as such can be completely useless after a fight has started and enemies know he is there.
Name: Terra
Rank: D
Type: Earth, Offensive
Description: A base circle, it is one of the foundations of Eli's magic. A small circle designed to channel the power of the earth, Terra causes a series of rock spikes to emerge from the circle. The spikes are in a cone shape, 1m tall with a radius of 15cm, and summon 3 in a triangular shape. If used when placed on a small object, such as a card or cloth, they will instead form in a pyramid like shape, all three spikes attached and coming from the origin of the circle. When the spikes are formed, circle fades from whatever it was on. The circle must be bound to Eli through his blood, which must either be mixed into the ink or used to make the circle. Eli can only activate a circle if it is within 20m of himself. If any damage happens to the circle before it activates, whether it be smudged, ripped, etc, the circle will become inactive. When powered up by Mana Battery, the amount of spikes increased is doubled, creating 6 instead of 3 and doubling the spells power.
Strengths:- Brute Force; Terra is Eli's only strong physical attack. It allows him a chance at a brute force method when deemed necessary, and keeps his options of attack open.
- Traps; Terra is especially strong when used for a trap, able to strike quickly and powerfully at an unsuspecting enemy. When hidden in the ground, the sudden spikes can seriously injure anyone above it.
- Area Control; By using Terra on the ground, Eli can use it to control both the area his opponent has available to them, as well as the area around himself.
Weaknesses:- Friendly Fire; Terra affects everything that in comes into contact with, enemies and allies both included. This means that if any allies are near Terra when it activates, they too will be hurt by it.
- Preparation; Since Terra is dependent on a circle to be made, any damage to the circle will completely negate the spell effect. As such, if his pre-made circles are damage before he can use them, Eli is left almost unable to use Terra.
- Heavy; Since Terra creates the spikes as a single unit when air born, it's weight almost immediately causes it to collapse to the ground. As such, it's almost useless as a direct damage spell in a duel.
- Ineffective Against Strength; While Terra can cause heavy damage to anyone not wearing armor or anything not incredibly strong, it shatters against heavy objects and plate armor. As such, it's completely ineffective against armored characters.
Name: Ventus
Rank: D
Type: Wind, Utility
Description: A base circle, it is one of the foundations of Eli's magic. A small circle designed to channel the power of wind, Ventus releases a gust of intense wind, blowing outward from the circle and attempting to knock down everything hit. This affect is weakened against heavier targets, knocking back targets under 150lbs, and strongly limiting the movements or people under 250lbs. When the gust begins, the circle fades from whatever it was on. The circle must be bound to Eli through his blood, which must either be mixed into the ink or used to make the circle. Eli can only activate a circle if it is within 20m of himself. If any damage happens to the circle before it activates, whether it be smudged, ripped, etc, the circle will become inactive. When powered up by Mana Battery, it instead releases a twister, about 5m high, attempting to suck everything in the area towards itself before dying out. It can affect people of a larger weight during this, sucking in people under 200lbs, and limiting the movements of people under 300lbs,
Strengths:- Control; By using Ventus, Eli can keep enemies away from himself and prevent physical contact, which he is weak in. He can also use this to knock back projectiles and control the general flow of the battle.
- Falling; While not the most effective method, it can be used to help prevent a hard fall or keep objects temporarily in air. By using it beneath something falling, he can attempt to knock it back and keep it air born for a bit longer.
- Increased Range; By using Ventus in combination with his cards, he can use it to knock them forward and increase their potential range of attack. While this sacrifices precision, it can grant him a greater range or threat or enable strong combos.
Weaknesses:- Friendly Fire; Ventus affects everything that in comes into contact with, enemies and allies both included. This means that if any allies are near Ventus when it activates, they too will be blown back by it.
- Preparation; Since Ventus is dependent on a circle to be made, any damage to the circle will completely negate the spell effect. As such, if his pre-made circles are damage before he can use them, Eli is left almost unable to use Ventus.
- No Offense; While Ventus has power control effects, it has almost no offensive ones. This makes it limited in what exactly Eli can do with it, and puts him in a bad spot if it's his only option.
- Weight; While Ventus has the potential to blow away and control lighter enemies, it's not strong enough to affect armored or heavier targets who exceed 250lb, who are almost unaffected by it.
Name: Motus
Rank: D
Type: Utility
Description: A base circle, it is one of the foundations of Eli's magic. Motus uses the power of two circles to activate, and when activated, switches the places of the two circles and anything they are attached to. It can only move objects up to 200lb, and only up to a distance of 15m. Once the switch occurs, the circle fades from whatever it was on. The circle must be bound to Eli through his blood, which must either be mixed into the ink or used to make the circle. Eli can only activate a circle if it is within 20m of himself. If any damage happens to the circle before it activates, whether it be smudged, ripped, etc, the circle will become inactive.
Strengths:- Mobility; Eli is weak in physical combat, and has no real mobility skills. As such, this allows him to have some mobility when fighting, and keep distance between an enemy and himself.
- Dodging; Eli can use Motus to dodge enemies attacks or trouble, not only for himself though. He can give a circle to an ally and use it to move them, allowing him to help them dodge or attack as well.
- Offense; Eli can also use Motus to force an enemy into an attack. By placing a circle on the enemy, he can move them into an allies attack or trap, making it a much easier hit and controlling the opponent.
Weaknesses:- Preparation; Since Motus is dependent on a circle to be made, any damage to the circle will completely negate the spell effect. As such, if his pre-made circles are damage before he can use them, Eli is left almost unable to use Motus.
- Circle Use; Motus switches the places of a pair of circles, and as such, it uses two instead of one. This causes it to take a heavy tole on use, draining Eli of resources on each use, and limiting how many times he can use it much more than others.
- Placement; Since Motus requires the circles to switch, this means Eli must have a circle in both the place he wishes to switch with, as well as with what he wishes to move. This is not a problem when he wishes to move himself, but can be problematic when moving other things.
- Landing; When Eli switches something, he has no control over the area where it switches too. As such, this means that enemies can prepare and launch a counter attack if they know about the switch.
- Stealth; Using Tenebra for a temporary stealth, Eli can infiltrate many areas without notice outside of noises he makes.
- C Rank:
Name: Fulmen
Rank: C
Type: Lighting, Offensive
Description: A base circle, it is one of the foundations of Eli's magic. A small circle designed to channel the power of lighting. Fulmen calls down a large bolt of lightning when activated, striking through wherever the card was. When the lightning strikes, the circle fades from whatever it was on. The circle must be bound to Eli through his blood, which must either be mixed into the ink or used to make the circle. Eli can only activate a circle if it is within 20m of himself. If any damage happens to the circle before it activates, whether it be smudged, ripped, etc, the circle will become inactive. When powered up by Mana Battery, Fulmen causes three bolts to strike in rapid succession, all going to the same area.
Strengths:- Power; One of Eli's strongest spells, Fulmen hits with incredible power and can help Eli take down tougher enemies.
- Accuracy; Since the lighting strike is instant to where the circle was, Fulmen gives Eli a reliable attack to try and guarantee success with.
- Speed; Striking just as a regular lightning bolt, Fulmen is near instant to activation of the circle, oftentimes hitting before even Eli was ready for it.
Weaknesses:- Loud; Fulmen is a lightning bolt through and through, and as such is incredibly loud when it hits, removing any stealth elements.
- Interception; Fulmen is a lightning strike called down from the sky, and as such if it is used inside a building or somewhere with something that can intercept the strike it is rendered useless.
- Friendly Fire; Fulmen will hit and pierce through any people in the way of the circle and sky, as such it will also harm any allies in the way of the shot.
- Disorientating; When not used to it, the bright light and noise of Fulmen can really affect someone's senses, making it difficult to use around allies who aren't prepared.
Name: Gelus
Rank: C
Type: Ice, Offensive
Description: A base circle, it is one of the foundations of Eli's magic. A small circle designed to channel the power of ice. Gelus releases 20 frozen shards, each about 30cm long, from the circle when activates, flying out in a sphere with a 30in diameter around it. Each shard itself deals minor damage, but can pierce through magical defenses. When used on water or a wet target, Gelus also freezes it, creating a thick layer of ice. This effect does not apply to water mages or spells of a higher rank. When the shards explode, the circle fades from whatever it was on. The circle must be bound to Eli through his blood, which must either be mixed into the ink or used to make the circle. Eli can only activate a circle if it is within 20m of himself. If any damage happens to the circle before it activates, whether it be smudged, ripped, etc, the circle will become inactive. When powered up by Mana Battery, Gelus explodes out into 30 shards instead, each shard 50cm long.
Strengths:- Area of Effect; Gelus has wide high area effect damage, allowing Eli to easily hit multiple targets in an area.
- Piercing; Gelus' shards are fairly small, and don't deal much damage individually, but are able to pierce through any magical barriers or defenses, allowing Eli to get around any kind of magical barrier.
- Utility; Since Gelus also freezes any water it comes into contact with, Eli can use it to bind a wet enemies movement, as well as create a path over water.
Weaknesses:- Low Damage; Gelus' shards are fairly weak alone, meaning that if the enemy is only hit by one or two it won't deal much damage.
- Friendly Fire; Gelus explodes in a fairly large area, meaning that if any allies are in the range of the explosion they are going to be hurt as well.
- Shatter; While Gelus can pierce through magical defenses, it fails against physical defenses, such as think armor or a shield, shattering against it and dealing almost no damage, if any.
- Water; For Gelus to make use of it's true utility, there must be water around for Eli to use. As such, if there isn't any water around or available, he cannot make use of it effectively.
Name: Ignis
Rank: C
Type: Fire, Offensive
Description: A base circle, it is one of the foundations of Eli's magic. A small circle designed to channel the power of fire, Ignis releases a burst of flames when activated. The flames aren't lasting, unless they catch any objects on fire. The fire explodes out from a ball of fire, about 30in in diameter. Once the flames have been formed, the circle fades from whatever it was on. The circle must be bound to Eli through his blood, which must either be mixed into the ink or used to make the circle. Eli can only activate a circle if it is within 20m of himself. If any damage happens to the circle before it activates, whether it be smudged, ripped, etc, the circle will become inactive. When powered up by Mana Battery, the sphere doubles in size, forming with an 60in diameter before exploding out and doubling the spells power.
Strengths:- Burst Damage; Ignis hits powerfully and quick. This allows Eli to apply pressure constantly, as well as use it as a threatening tool.
- Light; Ignis can also be used as a light source, whether it be for a temporary flash, or to alight and create a more permanent one.
- Distraction; Eli can also use Ignis to distract his enemies, activating it in a random area to create a flash or light and distract/unnerve the opponent.
Weaknesses:- Friendly Fire; Ignis affects everything that in comes into contact with, enemies and allies both included. This means that if any allies are near Ignis when it activates, they too will be hurt by it.
- Preparation; Since Ignis is dependent on a circle to be made, any damage to the circle will completely negate the spell effect. As such, if his pre-made circles are damage before he can use them, Eli is left almost unable to use Ignis
- Hard to Hit; Since Ignis is not a large explosion, landing it from a range can be difficult. As well, since it can also hurt him, using it close up is not the best idea for Eli as well. He has to properly control his opponent to try and guarantee a successful hit.
- Property Damage; Should Eli use Ignis with a circle attached to any flammable objects, the spell will most likely alight them, damaging the area around Eli. As such, it's not very useful inside flammable areas, such as anything made out of wood, without potentially hurting himself as well.
- Power; One of Eli's strongest spells, Fulmen hits with incredible power and can help Eli take down tougher enemies.
