The Hospital

The Hospital:

Bea walked through the hospital's corridor looking for the children's ward. She sighed. She really never liked the hospital. It was such a depressing place, lurking with death and sickness. She liked children though and it was why she had decided to take the job in the first place. It wasn't just about the money, but being able to spend time with the kids that were ill and may never recover.

Bea walked over to a young, male doctor who was busy overlooking papers. She didn't want to be of any bother, but if she didn't ask then she would be late. And one thing she hated to do was being late. "Excuse me, sir." She spoke kindly to him, "I'm lost. Could you please direct me to the children's ward?" The doctor put his papers down and looked at Bea, his eyes narrowing in hostility. "Could you please ask someone else? I am very busy. So if you'll excuse me." With that. the doctor walked off. How rude! she thought angrily to herself. And to think that his job is to help people! Bea resumed to walk the corridors in search for the children's ward. Now where was that place? Perhaps on the next floor?

Bea resumed with continuing her search for the children's ward this time making sure not to talk to anyone. She didn't want to bump with anyone unpleasant for she feared she would loose her temper.  Suddenly, an elderly nurse called out to her from her desk. "Hello, miss. You seem to be quite lost." She asked Bea kindly, "What room are you looking for?" "I am in search for the children's ward," said she, "Could you please direct me to there?" The nurse began to grin, "You must be Ms. Black. I shall direct you there myself." Bea nodded, giving the nurse a silent thanks and proceeded to follow her. Upon arriving to the children's ward, Bea saw lines of beds backed against the walls. The children all looked up at her full of curiosity. "Children, this is Ms. Black. You all be nice to her now." "Yes, missus." The chorus of voices chanted. The nurse nodded happily and disappeared through the door. "Hello, I'm Bea Black." Bea said as she smiled to the children.
