Primary Magic: Steelshift
Caster or Holder: Caster
Description: At first glance, Steelshift might be confused for Requip; after all, both involve changing weapons and armor. There is a very crucial difference, however: Requip magic is trading out, while Steelshift is changing entirely. Simply put, Steelshift magic allows one to morph and change weapons and armor to suit the task at hand. To perform the magic, one must be in physical contact with the weapon in some form or another; clothes do not stop the magic, but just about anything else does.

Strengths:
- Versatility. Steelshift magic is not limited like Requip in the forms that their weapons and armor can take, so they can conceivably create anything. If one knows the mechanisms within, they can even create crude gadgets.
- Unpredictability. Everybody is caught off guard when a sword they dodged suddenly extends, cutting them anyway. With so many options, it's hard to tell what a Steelshift user will do next.
- Compatability. A magical item that is changed will maintain all of its magical properties while Steelshifted, allowing for powerful combinations of form and function.
Weaknesses:
- Magic Drain. Maintaining a Steelshifted form consistently drains magic power; the power drained depends on the power of the item and how much it increased in size, if at all. Ranks take 5% more initially for every rank the item is above the wizard, while items take 2% more for every 4 inches. Base drain is 5% every two posts.
- Physical Contact Required. The user must be touching the transformed item constantly; if they lose contact with it, it will quickly revert to its normal form.
- Feedback. If the user attempts to transform an item that is two or more ranks above their wizard rank, there is a chance that they will receive feedback and be damaged instead. Chances are 50% at two ranks above, 75% at three, and 100% for anything above that. Chance will be determined by a random number generator for the terms of the RP.
- Short Range. Since the user has to be touching the items to transform them, the magic is considered to be very short-ranged.
Abilities/Powers:
- Steel Empath: The user of Steelshift is capable of discerning the type and strength of magic within weapons at just a touch. This affinity also makes them skilled at crafting their own magical weapons.
- Item Drain: A powerful Steelshift wielder can fuse the items with their own body in order to either forcibly drain or pump in magic to the item.
- D Rank Spells:
- Name: Enlarge
Rank: D
Type: Steel, Multipurpose
Description: The first thing that comes to mind with Steelshift is the capability to make items grow. With Enlarge, a longsword can become a broadsword, a dagger a regular sword, and a shield can block attacks it normally wouldn't be able to. As the trademark Steelshift spell, it is simple, effective, and does not take much mana.
Strengths:- Quick casting time
- Can last as long as the wielder has magic and has physical contact with the weapon
- Multipurpose
Weaknesses:- Stopped if physical contact with the caster is removed
- With unskilled users, the metal is often more brittle due to the spreading of the material
- Constantly drains magic while in use
- At D rank, only one item may be enlarged at a time
- Cooldown is 3 posts, decreases by half a post every rank
- Quick casting time
- Manipulate:
- Name: Manipulate
Rank: D
Type: Steel, Multipurpose
Description: The other trademark Steelshift skill is the ability to rearrange items and turn them into a desired shape or form. This ability can turn any item into another form, making it ideal for hiding items from searches and other such things. Unlike Enlarge, it cannot create more of the metal, so the user must make do with the base amount that the weapons gives. Like Enlarge, it is one of the building blocks of Steelshift magic, so it is quick to cast, and mana-light.
Strengths:- Simple and fast to cast
- Multipurpose
- Unlike Enlarge, Manipulate can last for up to two posts after physical contact is lost
Weaknesses:- Only one item can be manipulated at a time at D rank
- Drains magic while in use
- Has to work using the material the item has; cannot create new material
- The form directly reflects the clarity of the shape in the user's mind; a foggy image will result in a sub-par form. As such, catching the caster off guard will usually mess up the spell
- Cooldown is 1 post from the time of cast; it is possible to go directly from one Steelshifted form into another
- Simple and fast to cast
