The Desert! (Job: Axilmeus and Kihia)

Kihia sat by the edge of town, he was waiting on the client to come out of the town, A few days ago, Cyrus and him had noticed a this job flyer and had decided to work together to complete it. Kihia gently smiled, Cyrus was one of the few people outside of his team that he got along with, having met the cloud make mage when he first arrived. Kihia witnessed when Cyrus first formed his own team, Clustering wishes, and had helped them on a recent mission to fight Vulcans. The mission was successful; however in the days following Yuuto Shinigami had disappeared, from Lamia Scale entirely and no one was entire sure where he had gone.

Kihia shook his head, No need to dwell on the past… I need to focus on this mission to help make sure nothing goes wrong… He whipped around his backpack in front of him checking his supplies; the job ahead of them was bound to be a long one. Five large containers of water, food rations that could last a month, a simple compass…and extra bandages….check. Kihia whipped his backpack onto his back again and reached down and lifted Icarus up and rested it on his right shoulder. Kihia looked out into the desert once again, the Job request was simple, escort the merchant to the predicted area where is men a shipment was lost. It seemed simple enough, although Kihia had a feeling that this job may be more trouble than he originally had thought.

Kihia sighed, Cyrus and him had been waiting on their client for roughly an hour, “What is taking him so long?...” They had found a place in the shade to wait for the client, but the shade only can work so well for so long. He had decided to leave his trench coat at the guild hall, but he was still wearing a long sleeve shirt, if it wasn’t for the temperature resistance training he had when he was younger, he wouldn’t be able to bear it. Kihia sat up when he heard someone headed their way from the Village, I hope that is our client….

Sure enough, clumsily walking towards the two mages was an short, middle aged man who had a crazed look in his eyes. Kihia’s right eyebrow twitched however when he saw the man’s backpack, which was twice the size of the man himself. “Oh there you are my two bodyguards!! I have been looking all over for you and was worried you had left without me…” The man manically chuckled a bit after he said this, Kihia sighed and stood up to greet him, “Hello sir…I assure you we will make sure you will be safe on our journey…although…I feel you may need to reduce what you are carrying with you…a bit…”

Cyrus waited in the shade taking small sips of water every now and then. He had brought four canteens of water to keep himself hydrated, not knowing how much supplies Kihia would bring. He had gone on an adventure in this desert before, and he was only able to maintain his fighting with water he had been left with. It would have been foolish of him to forget something to hydrate himself with. He had also brought with him his large Zanbato, the Big Cutter, and his new weapons. They were two crossbows that could be loaded with up to four bolts at a time. Sitting on either of his shoulders were one of his spirits, known as Venti. With all this equipment, and his newfound spells that he gained from his intense training, he felt ready for this job. Evidently, the client was not.

Hey Cyrus, what's taking this guy so long? asked Vulturnus, the more aggressive spirit. We've been waiting for much too long, and I want to find some treasure, he began flexing his muscles and punching the air, And kill some desert beasts! I heard there's some tough creatures out there. Cyrus was not amused by his mentors comment. He wondered whether or not the Venti realized that Cyrus was actually the one fighting. Vulturnus's violent nature tended to get in the way of his common sense, but it also meant that he was an excellent trainer. He trained Cyrus in most of his physical fighting skills. While Cyrus was contemplating this, Vulturnus's brother chipped in his two cents.

He began to shake his head. As opposed to Vulturnus, Favonius tended to be kindhearted and gentle. I'll agree with you on being anxious to discover treasure, but I'm not excited to get in a fight if we don't have to. Also, it's not our decision anyways brother, it's number five's. I am wondering where that client is however. He's quite late for his own request, Favonius pointed out. Although the Venti was gentle voiced and kind, he wasn't against scolding people for their shortcomings. In his opinion it just pointed out things that they could improve along.

It's fine guys. He's taking us on a journey through the desert and offering us whatever treasure we find. The least we could do is wait for him. The Venti silently nodded in acknowledgment. Suddenly a frazzled looking man wandered towards Kihia and him. He was not the tallest man. In fact his backpack towered over him. It was going to be fun doing a job with the ice make mage, Kihia, as they had done a job together before. He did enjoy the company of his teammate Lilyan, but sadly she didn't appear ready for this job. He wasn't sure what to say to the client, so he decided to address both him and Kihia. "So, are we ready to go?"

“Oh, don’t worry about me! I assure you I can carry twice this amount of stuff with little issue!” The client had said this responding to Kihia’s last comment, Kihia sighed, because there was a sound of crazed confidence in the clients voice, “Anyways, if you two are done sitting around we must be getting on our way!” The client did a small dance after he finished saying this and started walking out to the desert, You have to be kidding me…. Kihia sighed and stood up, and followed after their client “Let’s go Cyrus…we got to make sure the…client survives.” Kihia had picked up the pace to walking slightly in front of the client, “I will guard you from the front…be sure not to wander off on us…”

The three of them continued walking for a few hours, walking throw the desert wastes, Kihia had just drank a but from one of his water containers and had placed it back in his backpack, and looked around. There wasn’t a single cloud in the sky, and the wind seems to be calm for the moment, The Calm before the storm….? Kihia looked towards the direction they were headed, he didn’t see much besides the rolling sand dunes of the desert, a few isolated objects or structures can be seen in the distance, but he wasn’t sure if that was their destination. Then Kihia spotted something out of the corner of his eye, he knelt down and saw that it was a piece of unrefined high quality ore, This should fetch a few thousand jewel’s…when we get back…

Kihia then looked at their client and said, “Are you sure this is the correct way…?” Kihia sighed, he wasn’t entirely trusting of their client…not because he didn’t know him, but because the client had seemed a little out of sorts with himself. “Don’t doubt my sense of direction, young man! I spent a solid month in this desert… I know it like the back of my hand!...I think…” The client said the last part with an extremely quiet tone, although Kihia heard it and sighed.

Kihia looked at Cyrus with a doubtful look, and then looked to the south west… he wasn’t sure, but he thought he saw movement in some form. …Whatever that may be…it can’t be good… He signaled for them to stop for a moment, “Why are you signaling us to stop young man?? We still have some distance to the location! I think…” Kihia shook his head, “Cyrus… you have been in the desert before… what are the coming signs of a sandstorm….?” After he said this he kept staring to the south west, Because if that is what I think it is…we may be in trouble…

'Normal Dice' :

They had been walking through the desert for a while now. The vast expanses of sand were soothing, but hot nevertheless, and the suns rays being absorbed in the sand caused the weary mage to experience some dehydration. He managed to keep himself in shape through the four canteens, he was now about halfway through the first one. As long as they made use of the time they had. Then again Cyrus wasn't sure how likely that was, based off of how their client was acting. It wasn't reassuring when the person who was supposed to be guiding you ended his sentences with 'I think...' Cyrus was beginning to consider giving up when he almost tripped over something jutting out of the sand. He picked it up. It was an old bronze mirror with a bit of rust.

Once that's cleaned up, it might fetch a fairly high price in the right market, stated Favonius. Cyrus didn't doubt him. Of course it would make sense that a person, or spirit, as old as him would be well versed in many subjects, including the value of objects. Cyrus wouldn't be surprised if he knew the ins and outs of artifact appraisal. Vulturnus was another story. The more irritable spirit didn't seem like the one who appreciated that type of thing. Despite being just as ancient as his brother, the bald man was focused almost solely on war and fighting. Speaking of the Venti, he spoke up at this point.

Yo Kid, I'm not sure if you feel that, but I sure do. Something's coming. Something huge and dangerous. The wind's have just shifted, and we're in the middle of a desert... kid? he looked up to see Cyrus daydreaming about the artifact he just put in the pocket of his trench coat. Just then Kihia said something, and Cyrus came to. Looking off in the distance, Vulturnus's statement was proved true. A large cloud of sand drove across the land, beelining for the three desert travelers. Cyrus, in a flash of action, took hold of the deranged client and lifted him over his shoulder. He then began to run like the wind, attempting to escape the clutches of nature.

"Kihia, quick, run!" he said, motioning for the ice make mage to follow him. They ran further and further into the desert with the sandstorm in close pursuit. He wondered how the client was enjoying his ride, either way, they were moving the same direction that the client had been taking them, so the cloud make mage figured they were still on course. Glancing behind himself he saw that the sandstorm was catching up to them. "Kihia, how are we dealing with that thing?"

Kihia stared at the sandstorm as it approached them, There is no use running….perhaps…a modified ice make terrain…. Kihia lifted Icarus of his right shoulder and held one end of Icarus one inch off the ground, “Cyrus….there is no need to run…” Kihia had said this in a serious tone. “Wha-What do you mean there is no need to run…it’s a SANDSTORM! You have to run!!” their client had said hysterically, he was panicking on top of Cyrus’s shoulder.

“Keep in mind…sir…you have the Ice make mage of Lamia Scale at your service….” At this point they were about to be encompassed by the sandstorm. Kihia focused on the sand in front of him started to focus his magic energy at the end of Icarus that was closest to the ground. “Ice…make…Terrain!!” Kihia focused the ice sheet to form on the wall of sand in front of him.

Kihia managed to form a small ice cave from the incoming sandstorm that had encompassed them entirely and had an opening at the end the direction the sandstorm was traveling. Kihia nodded at his work, he had formed ice spikes on all of their feet for the moment, and then turned around to his companions, “That’s…why…you don’t need to run” when Kihia had finished saying this he was smiling. “Oh…erm…right….so what do we do now?...” Kihia shook his head when he heard their client ask that, “We wait out the storm to pass over… this shelter should last until then…hopefully” Kihia took off his backpack and placed it on the ice covered ground, “In the meantime…rest and regain your strength…”


Roughly thirty minutes had passed since the sandstorm had reached them, and it was still going strong, Kihia had been sitting down and quickly stood up when he heard something, Cracking…?...the shelter should be able withstand a few hours before it starts to buckle. Kihia walked to the spherical end of the ice cave and checked it, sadly this was noticed by their client. “Whats wrong young man?? Don’t think your cave will last much longer??” The client had said this in almost a mocking tone, Kihia turned around a put his right index finger to his lips signaling them to be quiet. Kihia then started to walk forward to point of origin the sound was coming from.

He saw a number of cracks on the floor…. And two large Scorpions were the cause of it, “Cyrus! We have company!” Kihia lifted Icarus off his right shoulder and adopted a defensive stance, The client quickly ran to the back of the Ice cave, Good….he will be safe…, One of the scorpions broke through the floor with its claw, Kihia ran up and slammed Icarus into it. The exoskeleton on the claw cracked and fractured, but the scorpion came into the ice cave, This isn’t good…

'Monster Dice' :

Cyrus had not expected Kihia to come up with such a creative plan. Of course, he could have used his clouds to help if it were say, a solid wall of sand, as the water properties of his spells could have trumped it, but such dispersed sand wasn't something he could have taken care of himself. He was glad that there was a solid based make mage there to create protection for the three of them. "I forgot for a moment, Sir Kihia, that we had you on our side," he said scratching the back of his head in embarrassment and chuckling after he had placed the client back on the ground. He paced around the ice cave before flopping to the floor. All that unnecessary running in the middle of a desert had tired him out, and he needed a rest.

Cyrus pressed himself against the cool ice for a while while the Venti discussed who knows what in a corner of the cave. It was a nice break from the hot desert sands. Suddenly he heard cracking noises and saw Kihia get up to investigate their source. He thought nothing of it until he heard Kihia shout something back at him. “Cyrus! We have company!” He leapt off the ice, charging for where Kihia was facing off against two large scorpions. It appeared that Cyrus's rest would have to wait until after this fight. Even if they were mere scorpions that didn't mean it wasn't his job to help Kihia in the protection of their client. He decided now was as good of a time as any to use his new weapons, the Small Shooters.

Drawing one of his crossbows from it's holder he readied it in front of his eye and came to a halt. He adjusted his aim so that it was pointing at one of the scorpions when suddenly... Hey kid! shouted Vulturnus, who had snuck up behind him, I know you're all excited to use these new fancy weapons that you bought, but seriously, why did I even teach you my special sword technique if you're never going to use it? he complained. Seriously, the Venti could get on Cyrus's nerves sometimes.

The reason I'm not using your technique is because we're in a make shift ice cave in the middle of a sandstorm. Your technique isn't necessarily optimal for such tight quarters. Would you prefer for me to use it and we all die from being exposed to the sandstorm? Vulturnus muttered something under his breath, I didn't think so. Cyrus brought his crossbow back up to his eye and prepared the shot. He quickly calculated that it would be best to take down the tail first. Pulling the trigger, four preloaded bolts flew into the base of the tail of the scorpion that Kihia was not fighting. it pierced , but only led to a gash through half of the tail, not producing the desired effect. Cyrus quickly put away his weapon, and drew his sword, planning to disarm the scorpion fully. He charged at the beast, but was hit with a snap from it's claw. Nevertheless, he was able to swing the sword down on his opponent, eliminating it's poisonous tail. He planned to finish it off the next chance he got.

Kihia took a step back after his initial hit on the scorpion, He saw Cyrus had engaged the other scorpion and had managed to cut off its tail already, he frowned when he noticed that Cyrus had gotten hit already, but he refocused himself to handle the scorpion that was in front of him. It had started to charge at him, Kihia sidestepped and slammed Icarus into the joint of the claw he had previously hit making it snap off. Kihia then ducked to dodge the scorpion’s tail, and spun around to strike the tail at its base. Kihia then preceded to do a full clockwise spine striking the legs of both scorpions to knock them down. Kihia then rushed forward and thrusted Icarus into the body of the one he was previously attacking. It squirmed for a moment and then fell still, One down…. Kihia then turned around to the one remaining scorpion and threw Icarus at it, making it impact and crush the insects head.

Kihia stopped for a moment to recollect himself, doing his best to ignore their clients screams. He then walked over to the dead scorpion and picked up Icarus, he grabbed a small vial of water and uncorked it. He pour the water onto Icarus and then pulled out a rag from one of his pants pockets and started to clean Icarus. “The animals in this region…must come out when there is a sandstorm going on…ambush based predators…” Kihia stopped and looked at Cyrus for a moment, he then walked over to his backpack and pulled out a roll of bandages and then threw them to Cyrus, “Here, just in case you find yourself injured, use those bandages.” Kihia then sat down on the ice floor and maintained a vigilant watch on the entire ice cave for the remaining of the sandstorm.

After an hour the sandstorm outside had finally let up, Kihia gently smiled at got ready to dispel Ice Make Terrain. “Can we finally get moving now?? I am tired of sitting here and waiting” Kihia’s right eyebrow twitched, their client had passed out after he finally stopped screaming and had been sleeping this entire time… Kihia cast that thought aside and dispelled Ice make terrain, the sand the was used as the foundation fell to the ground and on top of Kihia and his companions. “Well…that is to be expected…” Kihia dusted the sand off himself and looked at his companions. Oddly enough…their client didn’t make any effort to dust the sand off himself or his giant backpack. Kihia sighed, “Shall we get moving again then? Which way do we need to head?” The client stood there for a moment staring up into the sky and then said in the most sanest voice yet to be heard, “Westward…the site of where the my men was killed is westward…” Kihia gave their client an odd look, That’s a sudden change….but we will see if it is for better or for worse.

Cyrus saw that Kihia had already dealt with both of the scorpions. He sheathed his sword as Kihia spoke up again. Cyrus nodded when he pointed out that the animals of this desert must have primarily utilized sand storms to ambush their prey. As Kihia cleaned off Icarus, Cyrus prepared to make the move as the sand storm had subsided. He then proceeded to accept Kihia's offer to give him bandages, and used them on his wound. He then proceeded to shake the passed out client from his passed out state, only to receive some irritating statements. Cyrus nevertheless decided to move on with Kihia as he had requested. As they walked the client said something morbid to the group causing Cyrus's tensions to increase. How was it that the man could act so indecisive one minute, and yet so serious the second? Either way, part of the mission was to find the merchant's crew, and if they were westward, then he would travel west ward. As the came closer and closer to the desired location, Cyrus heard scuttling from nearby, he swiftly turned and raised his hand, pointing his finger to the origin of the noise. "Cloud Make: Bullets," he said, firing three small pellets of clouds at the scorpion that had appeared. Two bullets hit the scorpion, causing minor damage as Cyrus drew his sword.

And now you're using the technique? asked Vulturnus, eager to see him use it. Cyrus just shook his head and rushed forward. There was no need to use the technique. Launching the beast into the air with his sword, then swinging it downwards. As the dilapidated creature attempted to crawl away, Cyrus sheathed his sword and lifted his leg, bringing it down to end the creature. The cloud make mage returned to his fellow travelers, as they were set back on their way. The scorpion was most likely one from the group from earlier who hadn't joined in the fight with Kihia. Then again it seemed to be of a separate species. Perhaps this meant they were getting close to a different area of the desert.

He looked around. The desert definitely seemed different. The winds howled more than they had previously, and the sand was a bit darker and coarser. Rocks began to jut out of the ground along with something else that the cloud make mage noticed. Off in the distance there rested a singular bag. Running up he found some more water, more food, and a picture of five people, one of them was the client. He brought back his find to the other two. "What is this? he inquired. Maybe they were close to the area in which the clients crew had perished. Either way, he was interested in where this back pack came from.

'Monster Dice' :

Kihia had walked across the desert, he noticed as another large scorpion had come out of hiding, however Cyrus quickly dispatched it then they continued moving forward. The Client was oddly quiet for the entire trek, after a while noticed the sand had started to slowly getting darker, as well as the wind started to get harsher. This can’t be a good sign… are we getting closer to the area where his group was killed…? He stopped mid-thought when he saw Cyrus running towards a torn bag on sticking out of the sands. He searched through it for a moment and then ran back to Kihia and the client.  Kihia motioned for Cyrus to hand the picture to him, in it he saw five people, four people Kihia didn’t recognize and one that he did. Their client was posed in the middle of the group with a large grin on his face. In the picture the group had shovels and pickaxes as well as large bags to carry something.

Kihia’s face darkened, he looked at their client, who was staring at the half buried backpack with a completely blank stare on his face. Kihia then looked at Cyrus and quietly shook his head, he then whispered “This is the site where his men…were killed” Kihia walked forward with Icarus resting on his shoulder, looking around the area, something isn’t right here…four men….but there is only one visible bag…out of all the gear they had…? Kihia looked around then noticed another large scorpion coming out of the sand.

Kihia frowned, Not another one of these annoying buggers. He then started to run up to it, he then heard their client yell out hysterically “No!! Don’t attack that one!!” Kihia didn’t pay heed to their clients command; He ran up and slammed Icarus into the scorpion’s underside making it flip over. Kihia nodded as it started to squirm to try and right itself. Kihia then heard movement to his right, as he turned a Large Basilisk came jumped out of the sand and landed on top of him. Kihia was shocked for a moment, but he braced Icarus against it trying to make sure it couldn’t land that many hits. Kihia then rotated his body and managed to throw the lizard off of him.

Kihia rolled and then stood up adopting a defensive stance while backing up to his group, That was clos- Kihia stopped mid-thought when he felt the ground start to shake, It..couldn’t…be!?!...The books I read only mentioned them as myths! Out of the sands rose a giant scorpion, which the three of them were on the middle of its back with the basilisk and the smaller scorpion along with them, “This is why I told you not to attack the baby!!!” The client yelled at Kihia.

'Monster Dice' :

Well now they were in a difficult situation. After it had been explained that they reached the site of the archeologist's crews death, Cyrus glanced around. Suddenly, he caught site of another small scorpion. Kihia ran off to dispatch this enemy, so Cyrus decided to stay back with the client. Suddenly Favonius shouted something in tandem with the client.

No! Don’t attack that one! he said, Number Five, quickly, stop him! he ordered. Cyrus sprung into action almost immediately readying to use a spell, but it was too late. Kihia had already struck the scorpion. Favonius looked on in horror as Kihia defended himself from a basilisk that had a evidently sprung from the sand. That was a juvenile Colossal Sand Scorpion. They are extremely large, extremely durable, and very protective of their young. There's no way the mother could be more than a few feet away from... Favonius was interrupted in his statement by a seemingly rising plateau of sand. As the small pieces of earth slid off, Cyrus realized that it wasn't a plateau, and those weren't rocks from earlier. Those were the claws of a Colossal Sand Scorpion, the one that he was now standing on along with the two monsters Kihia was facing, along with the ice mage and their client. Cyrus decided it was time for him to pitch in on this fight, as he motioned for the client to stand back.

He leaped forward, putting his hand on the sword's hilt while Vulturnus addressed him. Sword technique? he asked. Cyrus chuckled as he gave in to the Venti's wishes, he came upon the middle of the giant scorpion, but received a quick swipe from the basilisk Kihia had thrown back.  He drew his sword to begin his retaliation. Swiping upwards as he leapt into the air, striking the lizard. "Cloud Make: Whip," he said channeling his magic to his hand and feeling his spell connect with the hilt of the Big Cutter. He then let loose his wicked weapon downwards, piercing the exoskeleton of the beast a single time. The sword did not stay there for long, however, as the whip Cyrus made was now attached to it, allowing him to swiftly pull upwards, dislodging the weapon from the scorpion. He then swung it to strike the basilisk a second time before falling back to the ground and returning to a normal stance, with his spell still active.

"Dance of the Drosera," he said, smiling at the cuts he had made in the lizard and the singular gash in the giant scorpion. The reasons that the mage had held off on using this dance in particular were it's pure power and the space it required, but when faced with such enemies and such space, he could now use the 'Dance of the Drosera' unabated by any factor.

Kihia nodded as Cyrus had engaged into the combat situation, and was handling himself well. Best to reserve Ice make ring for later… Kihia nodded agreeing with his thought, “Ice Make…Spear Shield!” Kihia waited a moment as the shield took form on Icarus, this was his preferred fighting technique. He then looked back and saw the stinger of the colossal scorpion heading straight for him, he smiled and quickly ran out of the way towards the other two enemies. The stinger struck the exoskeleton of the colossal scorpion and pierced right through. Kihia nodded when he had seen the Client was safe on the other side of the impact crater, The tail can’t bend that far so he will be safe… Kihia rushed forward bashing the baby colossal scorpion with his shield, he then flipped Icarus and the shield onto his back and spun around dealing two quick strikes to the scorpion, he noticed the baby scorpion start to fall off the colossal scorpion.


Kihia nodded, One down… he then ran forward and engaged the basilisk, he bashed his ice shield against the lizards head. The basilisk reeled back from the impact and then lunged forward biting the unsupported sides of the shield. The shield started to crack and buckle from the pressure, This isn’t good!... Kihia detached Icarus from it as the basilisk crushed the shield with its raw biting pressure. Kihia then looked up and saw the colossal scorpion was trying another tail attack on them. Kihia cringed and ran closer to the first impact site and then swiftly planted one end of Icarus on the back of the scorpion.

“Ice Make…Pole!!” Kihia launched himself into the air, he was on a collision course with the base of the stinger itself, I have to try and knock it off course…! Kihia flew through the air and landed a flying kick into the base of the stinger making it go forward and miss it’s mark. The scorpion tail again crashed into the back of the colossal scorpion dealing damage to itself once again. Kihia had disconnected himself from the ice pole extension and had whipped around and started to spin Icarus midair. “Ice make…Ring!” Kihia focused on different join points of the tail. “Cyrus I am going to try and slow down that tail for a bit! Keep an eye out!!” As Kihia fell he thrust Icarus forward and focused even more on 5 joint crevasses of the tail, Two spears per crevasse should buy us enough time… Kihia nodded and then said “Ice make…spear storm!!” Kihia didn’t do any midair maneuvers as the ice spears fired off in sets of two, directing them to their destination. Kihia smiled when he managed to land each spear where he wanted. He then landed on the back of the Scorpion again and noticed the basilisk charging at him when he landed.

Cyrus nodded when Kihia said that he was going to deal with the tail. That leaves me with the Basilisk I guess then, he looked for it, but it had disappeared. Looking the other way, he saw it lunge at Kihia after he had just finished a spell. Cyrus swung his sword again as it made contact with the Basilisk knocking it away from his friend, he then retracted his whip again. The nice thing about this 'Dance of the Drosera' was that he could stand still while he preformed it to attack at long distances. The problem was, however, that he couldn't move very efficiently wile using it. This proved to be quite a problem. As he looked up to see a stinger coming straight for him. His sword hasn't gotten back to him yet, and as such, he wasn't prepared to dodge. The sudden movement he was able to make only prevented him from getting his head impaled, the stinger's tip grazed the edge of his shoulder. It was extremely painful, in fact felling as if his whole arm had caught on fire. The venom from the beast was extremely venomous as Cyrus could now tell. His vision became slightly woozy. He came to his senses somewhat, and then decided to end the fight with this annoying scorpion.

I see where he's going with this, Vulturnus said as Cyrus lunged for the base of the tail.

You do? asked Favonius. The brothers had stayed back around where the client was. Vulturnus nodded.

Cyrus meanwhile leapt into the air. Amongst Vulturnus's many sword techniques, there was one that might come in handy for this specific situation. As his feet left the ground, he made a swift swipe at the base of the tail, then a quarter of the way up, then at the next quarter mark, then then at the base of the stinger. As he fell back down he whispered the name of this technique, "Dance of the Clover." The tail collapsed into three pieces and fell to the ground as the scorpion wailed in pain. The mage then continued his drosera onslaught. He stabbed the scorpion on one side, then dragged his sword along, before dislodging it and swinging it to the other side on the whip, it made three small incisions through a couple flicks of the wielder's hand, then returned to Cyrus, who then leapt into the air. He swung it downwards to lodge the side of the blade into the back of the scorpion. He then lifted it out and sent it flying. It struck the center of the scorpion's head, killing it. The large beast collapsed to the sandy land seding sand particles flying upwards. The whip dissolved, as Cyrus couldn't maintain it any longer. The poison was too overwhelming. He stumbled to the client. "you alright? he asked.

Kihia nodded in thanks when Cyrus had knocked the Basilisk off its course to charge into Kihia, he then grimaced when he saw Cyrus get hit by the tip of the stinger. He then watched as Cyrus maneuvered around unleashing a full on attack onto the colossal scorpion and then finishing it off by stabbing it. He then yelled at the client “I am sure you have some anti-venom in that giant backpack of yours, treat Cyrus NOW!” The Client jumped at Kihia’s tone and quickly and clumsily ran over to Cyrus and pulled out a vial of green looking liquid and put in into a syringe and injected it into Cyrus without hesitation. Kihia nodded as he saw his friend was being treated, Hang in there Cyrus… Kihia then turned around and saw the basilisk starting to lunge at him, “Don’t you know, it’s bad manners when your opponent is making sure their friend is ok?!?” Kihia had yelled this with a good deal of anger in his voice, he ducked down and thrusted Icarus into the lizard’s stomach as it leaped over him, and then sent it flying farther than it had intended, crashing into the sand next to the dead colossal scorpion.

Kihia took off towards it, “Ice make… spear!” the ice spearhead formed as he approached the flailing basilisk. Kihia thrusted Icarus straight through the base of the lizards tail, making it howl in agony. Kihia retracted Icarus out of the lizard and swung Icarus upward cutting along the basilisk’s side. The giant lizard then tossed Kihia off of itself, and righted itself. Kihia landed on his feet and ran forward towards the basilisk. Spinning around to smash Icarus into the rear leg of the basilisk, knocking it out from underneath it. Kihia then pulled Icarus towards himself and then thrusted the blunt end of Icarus into the basilisks side. Kihia then retracted and then spun Icarus around. Then he ran forward and cut the side of the basilisk with the ice spearhead making the lizard howl in pain. The lizard spun around hitting Kihia with its tail which sent him flying. Kihia caught himself before he flew to far and turned around to the incoming basilisk.

Kihia then slammed the blunt end of Icarus into the side of the basilisk’s head sending it off course. Kihia then spun around and slammed Icarus into the head once more. He stopped and adopted his thrusting stance. He took aim at the basilisk’s eye, and thrusted the blunt end of Icarus into the monsters eye which made it howl in pain. Kihia retracted Icarus and flipped it around and then thrusted the spearhead through the basilisks eye. Kihia nodded, the fight was finally over… and hopefully that could head back soon.

Cyrus thanked the client as he injected the anti venom. Feeling a bit less woozy, Cyrus meandered over to the head of the beast. He then clutched the hilt of his sword, and pulled, removing it from the exoskeleton. Jumping down off the beast, he rubbed his sword off in the sand, tainting the dark brown with the blue liquid. He then sheathed his sword and motioned for the client to follow him. The sand that was kicked up by the scorpion's collapsing had revealed a treasure trove of rusted items and valuables that were most likely the ones that the archaeologists had been searching for. He picked up a rusted ball of some sort of metal, which Favonius appraised to be less valuable than the mirror from earlier, but still somewhat valuable. He left the rest of the treasure trove to the archaeologist, if he still was interested in it, and Kihia.

Then there were the backpacks. Three more had been uncovered and Cyrus retrieved them to to give to the client. The mage hadn't noticed it before, but each backpack was embroidered with a name. This one Priam, this one Tildon, and so on. Cyrus bowed his head in respect, "As memories for your fallen friends," he said. He then asked the client a question on a different topic. "I can't remember if you said it, but what was your name again?" He hoped this question would not bother his client, but he still wanted to know. After all they had been walking together in a desert for quite some time together.

The trek back to the town was long and arduous. Unlike the journey there, they moved more slowly, the mages being tired from their battle and the client just trying to keep pace with them. Cyrus looked at Kihia, "Any news on Yuuto?" he asked. The memory make mage was one of Cyrus's closest friends, and one of the founders of Clustering Wishes. After an odd test Zuo had made for the guild, his teammate mysteriously disappeared. He thought back on the memories they shared. The formation of the team, when their friend and teammate Lily appeared in the guild, their job with Kihia, and... That was it. It felt strange actually, but despite the fact they hadn't shared that many experiences together, he still felt like one of the cloud make mages closest friends. He was concerned for the well being of the fellow make mage, and wondered where he went.

Yo! Kid! I forgot to mention, but back there what you did was--- Vulturnus started excitedly, but he was cut off by Favonius, who realized that Cyrus was quite worried and serious about the topic at hand. Compliments could wait.

Kihia nodded at Cyrus when he handed the client the bags of his former men, “Tha….thank you…I could not have recovered these with you two.” Kihia gently smiled from this remark, and then looked out at the desert for the moment, “When friends and allies pass away…honor their memory…remember who they were…and most importantly….live on…” Kihia had said that point with a sadder tone than the rest of it. Kihia knelt down and pulled out another Vial of water and poured it on Icarus, he then pulled out his rag and continued to clean it. “You talk…as if...you experienced some kind of a great loss…?” The client had said this tearing up, Kihia froze when the client asked that question. He tightened the grip of his right hand unconsciously and eventually responded, “Don’t worry about it…my past…is the past, just let me be concerned with now and the future…” Kihia nodded after he said this and stood up and rested Icarus on his right shoulder, “Now let’s get you home sir.” The client nodded at this and turned to Cyrus to respond to his question, “My name is Darok Tosturi, and I thank you for aiding my in this…and helping me find peace of mind…”

On the way back, they were mostly quiet, Kihia kept to his own thoughts mostly, he took another drink of water, he just emptied his third container and had placed it back in his backpack. Perhaps…my time here has helped my scars... heal….although not many people know about some of them… but it actually is somewhat comforting…although I don’t know why.. Kihia snapped out of his thinking process when Cyrus asked a rather important question “Any news on Yuuto?” Kihia was taken aback from the sudden question, but he quietly shook his head, “No not since the odd test Zuo had for us…he has disappeared and I have not heard anything about him….” Kihia frowned after he said this, I hope Yuuto is ok out there somewhere….

After another few hours of them walking through the desert they finally arrived back at the desert settlement they had originated from. Kihia nodded at their client, who had just collapsed on the ground, “Keep anything you may have found on the journey….keep it has a reward for your services.” He said while panting, Kihia nodded at him and said “Your welcome Darok…may you have good sales and save travels on your future business exploits.” Kihia nodded at him and then went to walk into the village waving good bye to their client, “Its time for us to head back Cyrus, let us give our friends the goods news of our mission” Kihia had said this with a gentle smile, he felt that this was a good adventure for them…
