Labyrinth to Perdition (Kyll and Frederick) Empty Labyrinth to Perdition (Kyll and Frederick)

    Job:

After meeting up with Zenshin at his guild, Kyll was reintroduced to Frederick. She originally wanted to go on a job with the mage to get to know him better. Understand him better. She wanted to explain to him how he had helped. However, he spoke to her as if she was a nothing. A nobody. Kyll didn't take his smart remarks towards her as an insult. She knew he was hurt. She saw what he had done in order to find what he wanted. The end result wound up with him in Sabertooth. In Zenshin's guild. Kyll knew for a long time Zenshin wanted Frederick dead. Zenshin had given him chance after chance to be forgiven. Kyll didn't know the specifics, but she knew that Frederick was having a hard time coping. Friendship, loyalty, compassion, these were words that were all to unfamiliar with him. When Kyll first met Frederick, he was paranoid of plotting, he was betrayed, and Frederick was crazed in bringing the dead back. Now he just seemed that he was lost. He had no people to lead. No people to trust in. Nothing. Kyll knew that Frederick could be good, but there was one thing she had to do. Prove to him that she could be trusted and prove to him that he was smarter. So after the guild party, Kyll left out of the hall to follow him. Hopefully help him on the job, or perhaps gain some experience for herself. Kyll felt that she was being selfish not telling Zeno or anyone about the job that Frederick had picked. There was one thing that this mage was missing. A key part to make it through the labyrinth alive.

Kyll followed stealthfully. Well, as secretly as she could. The problem was, she never was the type to hide unless she was hiding and she did not view Frederick as prey. In fact she viewed him more as a hopeful friend in need. Every time Frederick turned around suspecting that there was a light in the darkness following her, she would turn around and hide, hoping that it would be put out by her ability to suppress the strong aura she carried. Control was one thing that she as a Heavenly Body mage would always lack. No matter how much she tried. Kyll had a feeling that Frederick was only humoring her as he went further to the labyrinth. If that was the issue, Kyll smiled. Maybe she was invited after all. Maybe she could join this man on this job after all.

Kyll wore her sleeveless gi. It was blue and white with cherry blossoms printed on it like a pattern. Her hair was bound in a white cloth looking as if she had a rope for a low pony tail. On her body she still wore her skin tight black suit. She knew that with her healing magic now she was not required to wear such an outfit, for she had the strength of the brightest and most powerful stars. This time she wouldn't have to worry about any of the issues of being burned up from the inside to use her magic. Kyll put a white gloved hand through her bangs as she hid in the bushes. This time longer than usual. She had a feeling that Frederick was about to say something to her. Hopefully it was an invitation to get on with this job. If not she was just going to have to say that she was coming along anyway. Kyll was not afraid of Frederick. Especially when he needed the help.

Labyrinth to Perdition (Kyll and Frederick) Empty Re: Labyrinth to Perdition (Kyll and Frederick)

For days now Frederick was being pestered by Kyll following him. Something that he found rather inconvenient, yet in the hope that she would eventually tire of her quest he decided to plainly ignore the fact that she had shadowed him. Something that she'd actually excelled in quite well, and if it wasn't for Frederick's ability to see through the darkness and feel what lies in it. He would've never noticed it.

Kyll's tiptoeing around Frederick went on for a full week, just until they both had reached Frederick's destination. A giant and mysterious maze, who's origins were unknown. It was just one of those tremendous landmarks that the ancients had left behind.
Once there Frederick had grown tired of her following him around, especially when she seemed foolish enough to follow him inside the structure.
'Tch this persistent woman is driving me insane! She can't follow me around for ever. Not in here!'

Frederick decided that shaking her off in the maze would maybe chase her away. But he was wrong, even if he hastened his pace a bit to disappear around the various corners in the maze she'd still managed to tail him. Enough so that even Frederick was about to lose his patience.
With a huge sigh Frederick stopped in his tracks, and eventually pulled down his hood backwards with two hand. For a moment the sunlight briefly blinded him as his eyes needed to adjust a bit to the light, yet they quickly recovered their sight. Showing to him once again the endless walls next to him.
And then he'd suddenly realized something, he'd just walked into the labyrinth without a second thought. Without creating a point of of recognition, something to chart his way through with. In his frustration from Kyll he went in as a mindless vulcan.

'Aargh... why is it that you are following me around woman?! Didn't I tell you to not get in my way!' His voice was filled with hostility, mad at Kyll for invading his privacy and partially blaming her for him walking thoughtless into one of the most mysterious places of Fiore.
'Tch because of your meddling, we might be in more trouble then it actually looks like! Following me around blindly like that! Do you even know where we are?'
In the meantime that he was talking Frederick had turned around towards the corner he just had passed, towards the direction Kyll was hiding away from sight.

Kyll hopped out of the bush and stretched. "You know, if you knew I was following you, you should have said something." Kyll giggled and put a hand through her black bangs. She walked up to him and pointed toward his face with a fairly thin gloved hand. "So yeah. I followed you all the way to this maze. Lucky for you. There's a job here." Kyll crossed her arms and looked about the room. "So according to the poster, he stated he would meet us in the beginnings of the maze... You know for someone who has never gone out on a job, you are rather dumb for jumping ." Kyll sniffed at the air. Her eyes opened. She shook her head. "He's cooking up his dinner. Which is rather rank smelling if you ask me." She grabbed the rather depressing mage by the wrist and followed the smell. She looked about the air and sniffed in different areas. Finally the two wound up in a dead end where a man sat. Kyll raised an eyebrow. "Excuse me... Who are you?" Kyll asked.

The man looked up at Kyll as he stirred a pot of stew. The man was rather short and he had a white beard. "Arturo," he said with rather short. "Your next question is going to be what the heck am I doing here... I'll tell ya then. I'm waitin' on this group to come back, but they never made it back yet. They have been drawing out the rest of this map." The man picked up a piece of cyprus and revealed it to Kyll. It showed a map of the maze walls being drawn out. "But.. as you can see they never make it back." The walls on the paper were red and they bled into the paper like ink. Suddenly the walls went black. "Well... looks like they never will come back. What ever they ran into." He stirred the pot again and sighed. "So.. I take it you're my next group comin' to retrieve this item for me?"

Kyll looked at Frederick. "Well he was coming in on his own. He forgot a key piece of information." Kyll said opening an eye. She looked at Arturo with a smirk. "I'm Kyll Vie. A Heavenly Body Mage and this is Frederick... Darkness Mage."

Arturo's eyes brightened. "Well that's even better. If you guys are opposite magic, you will have a better chance. Being someone who uses forms of lights from the suns and someone who is just dark. That's wonderful!" He stood up. Only four feet tall. He walked over to Frederick. "You ready for the quest I put you on? Any questions before you start?"

Kyll looked at Frederick. "Sure let's start. I would be careful though. This guy comes from a rather dark area. If you say anything to him that's a lie. He's going to quiz. You. So how about you tell us all about our quest per say."

“To be honest I have gone into the maze out of curiosity, but I couldn’t make it past the first twists and turns on my own. There really is a treasure in there because of all of the spirits and monsters that protect it as a security measure. I know not what the treasure is, but I have heard rumor that it is an important memory from a lost soul. Legends say that it belongs to one of the creators of this world. I just want to see it for myself. The reason I asked for opposite elemental aspects is because I have found that only Fire and Water mages come back together, Earth and Cosmic mages, Wind and Earth mages, Light and Darkness mages, you name it. The only thing is, they tend to come back a little messed up in the head. Like something happened to the BOTH of them at the same time. One of the mages did come back holding his partner in his arms telling me that his partner attacked a memory and he had to defend himself.”

The man didn't waste a second to tell them everything he knew, every small detail on the past mages that had entered these walls. Yet it was a bit off-putting, mostly because had a melancholy smile on his face when he spoke. But despite the fact that the man rubbed Frederick the wrong way he seemed to give them valid information. Enough so that it didn't seem like a lie. However to Frederick is all seemed a bit non essential. Opposite elements? A default memory and warped minds. None of this sounded rather crucial, just a small hindrance to deal with.

'Tch, is that all you know?! Just some story about people that are to weak willed to deal with their own mental state.' Responded Frederick rather hostile. 'How about you give us actual information about this so called treasure. Or a sense of direction. Anything besides the stories on how others have failed.'

However the man kept his mouth shut after this, and just looked at the two mages with the same melancholy smile. The smile started to anger Frederick, so much that he could punch that guy's face in. Even though he knew that it wouldn't help him, mostly because he knew this kind of people. They only shared what they wanted to share. And nothing could budge them to do otherwise.
'Have it your way then!' He sneered at the man. 'I find it on my own'

Frederick turned around rapidly and started to walk away from the dead end and passed Kyll. However when he passed her said something rather surprising. 'Your coming or what?'

Kyll looked at the man sitting there with the map. She held it in her hands and looked at Frederick who beckoned her to come with her. Did he just... INVITE me? Kyll nodded and ran to catch up. "Frederick, I'm just here to help out with your mission. It's lucky that I showed up. Other wise you probably wouldn't stand a chance alone." Kyll sighed as she walked along the winding pathways following Frederick. She stopped in her tracks and looked at the steps to take to get further in. "Frederick. Kyll said looking at the three way. This map says there's a ten percent chance of us getting into the middle of the labyrinth going that route. Let's take a left here. There's a higher chance. It says sixty two percent. I think I know how this map works." She walked to the left. "I just need to make sure my theory on that is correct though. So we need to take a couple turns here and there." Kyll smiled and walked down the left turn. It seemed like there were no other turns for a bit. There was a stench in the air as the two walked down the stretch of endless walls. Kyll stopped for a moment and looked around. "It doesn't feel right... Like there has been no turns and the map has dropped in percentages, in fact it is showing that there was no one in here." Kyll turned around as she was walking in front of Frederick and held the map up to show what was going on. The map started to fade away. As if they were not in the maze, but somewhere else. "Do you see it?" Kyll asked. Suddenly the map showed a a body with a sword and shield. The body had wings that spread from one end of the paper to the other. Kyll turned it back around and looked at the paper. "Are there angels in here or something?" Kyll asked herself. Then she heard it:

"Flock to me!" The voice was in a rather high pitch. Very cartoony sounding to Kyll. She heard two arrows being released from their strings. She ran up to Frederick and shoved him out of the way. The two arrows hit the ground beside them. She smiled happily. "Sorry about that." She got up and held up a light. Apparently the two had been engulfed by darkness. "Must be a battle arena we are in." She noticed that there were four bird creatures in the distance. Two flew straight at Kyll and grabbed her by the arms then pinned her to what felt like a wall in the darkness. Kyll coughed because the breath was knocked right out of her. Two other harpies were knocking their arrows getting ready to send them straight at the two. "Frederick. I don't care what you do. I DON'T want to die in here." She said hoping he would go for the rear lines first before taking down the front lines. Kyll's aura began to flash in and out as she concentrated. The two harpies held up their swords.

    "Matriarch take you!"

    "Die groundling!"

Labyrinth to Perdition (Kyll and Frederick) Empty Re: Labyrinth to Perdition (Kyll and Frederick)

Post by Godlike Frederik 26th June 2014, 10:52 am

While darkness blinded others Frederick on the other hand had an affinity for it, a shared element so the speak. It gave him the ability to see through the darkness as if it was broad daylight. Well that was not entirely true, sure his vision was better then most yet instead of seeing everything clear it was more a sort of sixth sense. As if the darkness would let him feel the exact location of everything that was in there.

Then out of nowhere they were being attacked, two birdlike creatures dashed straight for Kyll and pinned her against the nearest wall. While further up into the sky two others readied their arrows as they aimed for the Eclipse Soul mage. In that same moment Kyll let out a shout she called for Frederick's name.
"Frederick. I don't care what you do. I DON'T want to die in here."

Frederick stared from Kyll at the harpies, and from the harpies back to Kyll. Not knowing what he had to do, he could let her die. And take out the birds after that and then he would be freed from her pestering him the entire time. Freed to search the labyrinth for himself. However with her death his only chance to properly navigate through this confusing place died with her as well. Since apparently only Kyll had the ability to read that map properly. As if it was attuned to her.
Then there was also Frederick's personal dilemma, for some reason he didn't want her to die. He wanted her to live. Not as before, not as when he was in Savage Skull were live or dead didn't matter. There people that were an asset to him and his cause lived and other that would get in they way were bound to perish by his hands. No this time he saw the other person as an actual human being, so he knew what he had to do.

With letting out a raw roar of pure frustration he collected a black mass around him until it swirled around as a vortex around him. Then two separate black masses would shot out and homed into the two flying harpies. Ripping them apart as the darkness shredded them to pieces.
