Legends

Fairy Tail was founded on principles of curiosity and adventure. To help with this mission Simon has created a public list of legends and myths just waiting for a bold mage to pursue them. Some haven't been confirmed before because they were too dangerous, others because they were too strange to believe.

"Someone once said, there is a ravine in the earth where the gravity is ten times greater then the surface of the planet. Deep within is a monster that hides a treasure so large that between it's weight and the gravity it can never be removed from the ravine or so the story goes."

"It was overheard once that in ancient times there was a great civilization of magic. Most of it has been wiped out but in a distant desert one of its greatest buildings has been buried. Within is a massive indoor zoo filled with creatures from ancient times. But that's only a rumor..."

"There is a village in Fiore that has a long standing legend of a colossal mammoth that sleeps for a century before making a year long trek around the world. As the story goes the mammoth travels across the planet eating entire ecosystems, prey and predator alike, gathering up all of the world's flavors before returning to its den to sleep. By eating all over the world its meat is said to hold every single taste on the planet. It is also believed that this beast collects all of the best tastes and flavors it collected and condenses them down into a single massive "jewel meat," near it's heart. This is the Century Mammoth and its jewel meat is a prize more sought after then any stone gem. But no one has ever tasted it."

"In the heart of the world's largest desert is a place called The Graveyard. Taking up 10% of the world's largest desert The Graveyard is said to be the world's most inhospitable desert. It's heat is ten times greater then the desert around it and freak thunder storms are rampant, storms where in place of water droplets falling only lightning descends from the heavens. Some of the sand is so hot it is compared to lava. This much is fact. The legend? That at the center of The Graveyard is a paradise of an oasis. An oasis made so abundant by draining the life and water from the world out side, which is said to be the origin of The Graveyard. It's also believed that at the heart of the oasis is an even greater treasure. But it is believed no one has ever made it there alive, and if any have none made it back alive. Would you brave The Graveyard for a chance at its secrets?"

"There is a large mountain shaped like a dome. It's abnormal shape drew much attention to it since ancient times, which in turn brought attention to the fact that it's rock was completely invulnerable. Wizards from all over the world have hit it with everything they have and have never even made a dent. For a long time it was considered a test of strength to prove one's worth to try and scratch the stone. Then one day a scientist from Bosco scanned the rock and discovered the mountain was a massive geode, where the insides had been turned into impossible high grade crystals and gems because of the centuries of people attacking it. It has since been named Geode Mountain. While the location of the mountain is common knowledge; there are rumors of a hidden entrance..."

"Someone once said that there is a hermit who lives far away from humanity. They may not even be human. However they are said to be a master in creating chewing gum. This hermit is believed to be able to make a gum that never loses its flavor and never dries up. Which is nice if you are into chewing gum."

"There was once a story told of a place of healing. The details were sparse but it was said that this place was filled with incredible medicine. Everything in this place was a powerful cure or ingredient of an even more powerful cure. Adventurers who have sought this place go in the hope of healing all manners of diseases, injuries and even ailments of the mind and soul that have long been said to be incurable. Maybe there is even a cure for death?"

"There are tales of a legendary meteor shower that passes the earth only once every few decades. What makes this stand out among others of this kind is the story of a star gazer watching the meteor shower many years ago where they saw something fall from the sky to the earth. Naturally they thought it had been a meteor from the shower but upon locating it they found in the small crater a mangled human body clutching a mysterious stone in its dead hand. The stone was worth a fortune. Since then people have dreamed of how that person could have possibly gotten onto the meteors to collect the stone, and how to do so without meeting the same fate. Is it even possible?"

"Fishermen and seafood cooks around the world share a popular story. A story of an ocean somewhere in the world that contains fish and sea creatures from all around the world all in one body of water. It is thought to be the ultimate sea food heaven, and hell. Heaven as there is no dish that cannot be made, hell as every sea monster in the world dwell in the waters. Could such a diverse and deadly ecosystem truly exist?"

"There are those who believe in a great continent in the sky. A massive paradise resting on top of the clouds. It is hard to say what kind of ecosystem or civilization could possibly ride the clouds. Whatever it is surely challenges imagination. If only someone could find it."

"It is believed by some that somewhere in Fiore there is a clan of vulcans who have mastered human language and magic. Surely such a thing isn't possible right?"

"Someone once said there is an island where liquor flows like water. Simon is personally doubtful of this one as if such an island were to exist it surely would have been drunk off the map by now."

"It has been claimed that Heero has stashed away a mystical creature with a body made entirely of taco ingredients. But surely whoever came up with that was drunk off the Liquor Island."
