Open Challenge

Heero... The vandal fairy had issued a challenge to what seemed to be powerful mages all across Fiore to throw down. Zenshin, on his break from all the guildmaster work and recruitment of members, decided that it would be a fine idea to take him up on his offer. The rules on the invitation were clear, so he left Egia back at home on his nightstand and made his way into the old Talonia arena. It was empty and quiet, ominous, save for the yelling of Heero arguing. Undoubtedly with his exceed. "Heero! I. Challenge. You. To. A. DUEL!" he yelled from across the arena, pointing his finger at the mage dramatically. He didn't know what it was about this particular person, but whenever he was around Heero alone, Zenshin would act more ridiculous than normal. Perhaps he was trying to outdo the man in the craziness factor, or maybe it was because Heero's personality was so strong that it rubbed off on others. Whatever it was, the point still stood. He was challenging the slayer to a duel.

Heero accepted his challenge and after yelling some insult at him, sallied forth towards him. The dragon slayer had increased his strength dramatically with the power of a spell which surrounded him with an element distinct to him. Lighting. In an instant, he was on right in front of Zenshin, throwing a wildly telegraphed hay maker punch right at his face. He's quick. And reckless. Let's see what I can do with this he thought as he tilted his head forward into the punch before it made contact and blasted him backwards. Zen flew like a bullet and would have continued to fly if it wasn't for his trusty scythe, the Reaper, whose blade he dug deep into the earth to slow and eventually stop him from flying back any further. He put his hand on his forehead and wiped off the trickle of blood that was running down it before looking at the lightning mage that was a bit far from him now. "You sure pack a punch Heero!" Now he was standing on the horizontal handle of his weapon trying to get rid of a headache. "You get points for style, but that won't do you good by the time we're done here" Zen sprung up into the air and slammed his feet down on his scythe's handle, causing the blade to dislodge itself from the dirt and cause the thing to go spinning in the air, only to be flawlessly caught on its way down. "How about you try that again?" he mocked, getting into a stance and awaiting his opponent's next move. Man, what was that spell? Heero hits like a truck...

Just as he asked, Heero did. In another flash, he moved left, right, above, and then in front of Zenshin, all while being followed as fast as Zen could keep up with the flashes. Another haymaker? I know I asked you to do it again, but this is silly Heero he thought before linkstepping behind the man. Heero followed up his attack with what seemed to be a destructive spell that moved linearly. It's a good thing I wasn't in that thing's path. Getting hit by a giant lightning fist at point blank would probably have ruined my day he thought again before sending a burst of mana into his arms a swinging his weapon as hard as he could in a circular shape, using a technique with his scythe. ...Whirlwind...

Zenshin's attack sent Heero a good distance away, but the battle was far from over. As he recoiled from the attack, the lightning slayer dug his hands into the ground to stop himself from going any farther before throwing the large pile of rock that he'd just torn up from the arena floor. They were all in the air now, quickly falling on his position, leaving him with only one choice. Zen crouched down for a second before pushing off the ground with all of his might, heading for the cloud of rock and earth with his scythe held high. A large one was about to hit him, only to be sliced in half before he kicked off a nearby boulder with both his legs, sending him even higher into the air. Another large boulder was sliced in half as he made he increased his altitude, eventually getting out of the cloud of smoke that they had caused and only seeing Heero for a brief second before he bolted and jumped up at Zen.

The move was so sudden and he was so busy with making sure he had another rock to use as a platform, not to mention keeping up with cutting the larger pieces, that Heero managed to catch him off guard. Although he attempted to smash the kid's forehead with the bottom of his scythe's grip, the mage's relentless assault succeeded. It was a mid-air bear hug that eventually turned into a spinning pile driver into the ground below. Aw shi- *KABLAM* The force of the landing shook the arena and sent residual lightning in all directions. It was so strong that it created a decently sized crater from which Zen got out of before anything else, followed by trying to make everything stop spinning. After stumbling back a bit, he felt that his scythe was "full". In an instant, he transformed it into its next stage, the "Hope". He prepared another counter attack. What could he do next? No doubt some other ridiculously devastating attack... What a fun fight this is going to be

This was one of those times where his advanced perception came in handy. A passive ability that essentially slowed down attacks, at least in his mind, making them a lot easier to handle. Heero had brought his exceed into the fight and it was now bolting towards him like a, well, lightning bolt, while Heero seemed to go up into the sky. I guess I'll deal with the cat first he thought before Garfield was upon him, throwing a flurry of punches as quickly as he could, Zenshin blocking each with the handle of his blade and trying to ignore the surges of electricity that traveled from the cat, through the handle, and into his hands. Although it was quite painful, he could manage and once Garfield threw the final punch of his combo, Zen let it hit him square in the chest.

Some might think that it's stupid to let yourself get hit by your enemy, but he had a plan. Upon getting hit, he activated Objection, a powerful B-Ranked counter-offensive technique developed for such a situation. Upon the final punch landing, a concentrated plate of mana would absorb the damage and Zen would free up his left hand by only using his right to carry the large scythe for just this moment. In a single step, he would outstretch his left hand in a sort of grip, as if holding a weapon, and a long sword would appear in it just like that. The aim was to stab the fat cat right through its chest with a technique specifically made for counter attacks. If it worked, Garfield would most likely be out of the fight, but if he dodged it, the spell would be wasted. Either way, there were more pressing concerns, such as the insane mage above him.

Zenshin looked up and saw Heero's piercing green eyes first, followed by what appeared to be a spell sigil and then a massive tornado being cast at him. Oh Heero, you crazy bas- *WHOOSH* A beam of howling tornado hit him dead on from the air... Or did it? Instead of being hit, a sort of force field stemming from his coat was able to barely deflect the powerful beam forward, in the same direction that Garfield had come at him from. I wonder what the effects of a massive tornado on a flying exceed are? he thought with a smirk before crouching down and jumping up with as much force as he could, readying his scythe's blade to meet Heero in a flurry of blows in mid-air. This should be good
