Hatoya, outside of battle is has a laid back personality. When doing anything, Hatoya finishes his work, but just to the bare minimum, as he hates effort. The reason behind this is he just hates ‘people’ in general. They always aim high, or make promises to someone about something. But when the going gets tough, they quit. They bail. They run away with their tails in-between their legs. Obviously, since Hatoya himself is a human being, he often associates himself with these cowards. He is too scared to do or say anything big. Because he has never faced anything bad, he thinks that he too will run away when things get tough. Hayota just do the things people tell him to without making any promises. This behaviour ranges from simple things, to complex things as he does not want to make anything that sounds absolute.
However, Hatoya’s personality could be better described as ‘blank’. He shows as little emotion as the situation requires. This is due to the fact that he thinks that personality creates expectations. Once the people have an expectation of you, things only get worse. They begin to expect things from you only increases, until you either succeed and it starts again, or fail. Once you fail, the people no longer care about what you do, they just move onto another person who has potential and give them expectations that they cannot escape from. This cycle of madness is what Hatoya thinks and causes him to only show emotion if the moment calls for it. However, even considering all this, he longs to be praised for his actions.
During his free time, he prefers to just wonder around and see if anything in the area has changed, or just to explore the area. It doesn’t matter what he does or sees. All the he cares about is moving around. As long as he doesn’t stay in one spot, he is happy. Whether it be just re-exploring an area he had already been to, or searching around in a new found area, Hatoya wants to walk; to make himself do something, anything. He enjoys adventuring (if it can really be called that) because it allows him time to think. To try and collect his memories and thoughts just to analyse them.
Although he prefers not to show any emotion, he isn’t a completely clean slate. In battle, Hatoya doesn’t change much, but he begins to show signs of sadism. Although not to a villainous point, Hatoya does enjoy watching his enemies get injured by him or by a teammate. He wouldn’t intentionally hold back to watch his enemies slowly suffer, because that’s just stupid. Hatoya wants to watch his enemies suffer, but his main goal overall in battle, is to win. His sadism is just the icing on the cake. He would prefer to use his own body to fight instead of magic, but will not hesitate to use magic when needed. Hatoya wants to inflict the pain on his enemy himself, just to add to the pleasure of watching them get hurt.

Innocent, ignorant creatures; unknowing of the outside world’s true danger. Hatoya is envious of pets because of their simple, carefree lives.

Despite hating expectations, Hatoya wants to be praised for something that he has done.
