Maiden Snatcher

Indar had slept in that morning and missed his train to Magnolia town. He felt really bad, because his partner for the job was probably waiting for him already. Getting off the train he ran straight towards the east forest, well not straight. Indar had been to Magnolia only once and didn't know how to get to the east forest from the train station. He kept asking people, until an old man pointed towards the main road, I guess i really am stupid.

Running along the road Indar was just thinking how furious his partner might be. He was late for a few hours now. And the fact that the road seemed to go on for a while wasn't helping. He knew he had to apologize and make it up to them somehow, but nothing popped up. Suddenly Indar heard someone yelling "WE ARE WAITING FOR SOMEBODY REMEMBER?", there was no mistaking it. That was Indars partner. Indar had a terrified expression on his face, he could deal with all kinds of monsters but if somebody who he didn't want to hurt was mad at him, it was the worst feeling ever for him. But he had to face the feeling so Indar hurried and got to where his partner was.

Um... Sorry for being late, a lot of stuff happened. Viola was it right? I am fairly bad with names. Indar did look nervous while saying that, but was relived at the same time. So this is where we had to come to? And we only have to beat up a single vulcan. This sounds a little easy.

It had been so long since Indar had gotten scolded like this. Viola did sound fairly angry at him, but then again he was late for a few hours. Indar did feel guilty for being late but he had made a couple of stops before coming here, mostly buying some stuff he would need later.

Suddenly Violas stomach growled, she did look fairly embarrassed about it and mentioned that she wanted to do this quickly as she wanted to eat. When Viola had turned around, Indar searched around in his bag, he knew he had some food in there and if his teammate was hungry the job might not go too well. Um.. I went through a bakery before coming here, would you want any of the meat puns i bought.

While searching through his bag, Indar had listened to Viola and she seemed a little concerned about the other things in the forest. Well there really couldn't be anything too dangerous in the woods next to Magnolia. But still, never exactly knew what could be hidden in a forest. All right then, i will try to take this seriously. As Indar walked behind Viola, he was thinking about a lot of things, as per usual. The vulcan could be powerful and not easy to take down and Indar didn't have any clue as to what magic Viola used or how strong she was. Well, at least he could get to know her better during this job.

Indar was trying to hold up his bag, while Viola was eating all his food, but well he wasn't going to eat all of them anyway and he did owe an apology. Looking at Viola, while she had meat puns in her mouth made Indar chuckle a little bit, she looked a lot like a squirrel. When she pulled away and apologized Indar really felt the apology was out if place, There really is no need to apologize, they were for eating and i wasn't going to eat all of them anyway.

All of a sudden Viola ran into Indar, causing him to fall. He had no clue why she did it but seeing the spear where they were standing just a little bit ago, made him understand. Viola had saved them from being hit with a spear and as she helped Indar up. "We can take them. Shouldn't be to hard since we have the upper-hand here." We probably can, there is a lot of them. That one has a glass eye even.

Indar noticed that Viola was really getting into this fight so he couldn't do anything but to fight these demon things as well. Might as well beat them up then. Indar dropped his bag, adjusted his jacket and looked into the eyes of one of the demons. These things were weak, they probably wouldn't even put up a challenge. Indar really didn't want to waste a spell on them but felt like he had to. Well, let's finish these guys quickly so we can get to that vulcan. Abyssal Gauntlets, Indar hands covered in abyssal metal as he had said that. Now he was ready to finish these demons.

Viola dispatched of the demons incredibly quickly, like they were inanimate objects. Indar was really surprised, he had never thought his partner was this good. He was in his thought again when a small rock hit him in the head. The demons seemed to want to fight even though Viola had obliterater half of their back.

You little rascals, come here. Indar ran straight towards them, sending a straight punch into one of the demons. The demon flew into a nearby tree and was knocked out. Indar punted one of the demons away, it just rolled away and wasn't down for the count. The three demons near Indar jumped on him and started to bite. They couldn't get through the leather jacket but it still stung. Indar tried to shake them off but to no effort. It probably looked like a circus act to anybody watching Indar trying to shake them off.

Even the demons finally understood this wasn't working and jumped off, but right at that time Indar managed to punch two of them and send them flying. The final one seemed to be scared and was now facing Indar alone. The demon seemed to be frozen of fright. I can't hurt someone who is so scared, just run. The troublemaker understood and ran as fast as it could.

Indar took a lot longer with them as he had hoped he would. He underestimated them and he would once more. As the one demon he had punted away still wanted revenge. Just as Indar walked past the bush it was hiding in, the rascal took a leap and stabbed Indar in the leg with what looked like a glass shard. Indar fell down next to it, the damage wasn't huge but Indar just couldn't stand up well with a shard in his leg. The demon had collapsed as well, it seemed Indar hit from before had done the damage but then again Indr had taken an injury which could have been avoided.

Indar just sat there trying to get the shard out, but to no avail. He just sighed.

Indar was still trying to get the glass shard out of his leg but his hands just couldn't grab it. He looked up to Viola when she knelt down in front of him, Sorry for this, I do seem to mess up a lot today. Indar sighed, he truly was a burden for his team mate but he still wanted to help her. The wound wouldn't heal for some time even with the faster healing Indar possessed. The only thing his powers could do was speed the recovery up for a short time, which wouldn't be enough.

As Viola warned Indar that she was going to pull out he shard, he braced himself. This had happened before to him so he knew what it felt like. When Viola pulled out the shard, Indar only flinched a little bit but was still in pain. While Viola was bandaging the wound, Indar was really debating if he should try to continue, he would have a hard time fighting a vulcan like this but at the same time he didn't want to leave Viola alone. When Viola had finished and had helped him up she said: "If you want to head back, I'm alright with that." Indar looked at her, while leaning on her but decided to help her still, I think i can still do this, but just give me a moment. I need to get used to my leg having a hole in it. Indar tried to walk on the leg, limping a little bit but still he could walk. He probably couldn't use one of his spells, which involved the spell. But at least he could help Viola. Thanks for patching me up.

As Indar was just about to say something to Viola she got caught by a wood vulcan. Everything happened so quickly, Inda couldn't react fast enough and it looked like Viola couldn't get away but she managed to get away. She ended up in a really sticky situation. Indar now saw what he had to do, just before the vulcan landed a blow on Viola he jumped between them and yelled Abyssal Dome. A dome of shadowy metal appeared between them and the vulcan. The vulcans attack just bounced off of the dome, making him furious.

Indar looked at Viola, You all right. We are in a small problem here, when i release the dome, the vulcan can attack right away and i can't, so i need you to attack it before it has a chance to hurt us. This plan could fail and Indar knew it. But this may be the only chance they get. Also there was a small problem Indar didn't tell Viola, the dome increased Indar insanity greatly. He could feel it and was scared he would hurt Viola if it got to him. He focused his mind on defeating the vulcan first, then dealing with his insanity. But just looking at the vulcan it was obvious that he didn't take the clients sister, otherwise he wouldn't have taken Viola. Ugh, well you ready or not, i can't keep this up for any longer, the whole time the dome had been up the vulcan was pounding on it, this made keeping the dome up very exhausting. Well, here goes nothing, Indar raised his hand from the ground, removing the dome.

The plan had been a success, Viola had made a perfect hit at the right time. Indar sat down right behind Viola, recovering from the exhaustion. Viola looked a little hurt from thee vulcan but seemed to be handling it better than Indar did. "Hey, you okay?" as Indar heard Viola speak it was  noticeable she was holding back the pain form what that ape did. Indar held his leg, the pain was still there but he could defiantly keep going. But if they were both injured, this job would rise in difficulty greatly. As Indar thought of an answer for Viola, he was also trying to fight is insanity, he was gaining his sanity back but it would take some time. Um... well, i just need a little rest, then i'm good to go. What about you? Indar needed to know how hurt she was, just so he knew how to help her. Even though he wasn't telling her everything and it was a little noticeable.

Well anyway, we need to finish this, though if we are injured we should be extra careful. It was a little weird for Indar to say that, he had been everything else but careful through all of this and really it was Viola who did most of the work. Indar got up and looked at the deeper part of the woods. Our target is in there then and i'm kinda feeling that ape from before is coming back. He looked like he had some fight still left in him. As he looked at Viola, Ready to go, team mate.

"Ready." as Viola said that, Indar felt a little relived as she sounded okay. He knew she wasn't but didn't want to mention it. So he just walked after her and seeing as she was cold, Indar wanted to give her his jacket but that would be maybe too pushy. But he couldn't look at her being cold, so without asking he took off his jacket and put it over Violas shoulders. I won't need it, i can deal with cold. Plus you are wearing a lot less than i am so take it. He smiled at Viola, while still limping a little bit. The pain was still there but had gone down a lot.

Suddenly Violas fox stopped, Indar still couldn't remember its name. The things he told Viola made everything uneasy, Indar knew that now it was going to be trouble and a lot of it. When the vulcans showed up, they already looked stronger than the other one from before. This was going to be an extremely difficult fight, but one they would need to win. As Viola mentioned the woman, Indar noticed her as well. Indar sighed, he didn't want to fight but with no where to back off. So as he saw Viola attacking the forest vulcan Indar ran towards the mountain vulcan, Abyssal Gauntlets, his hands covering in the metal again.

The vulcan being fairly tall and Indar having lost his jumping ability, he hit the vulcan in its leg, forcing it to drop onto its knees. Then smashing a hit into it's face. The mountain ape let out a yell, which just seemed to be from pain but there was rustling in a bush near Indar. The wood vulcan who ran away before came running out of the forest and landed a straight hit into Indar. Gah... you don't know when to give up to you. Indar after receiving the half strength hit from the weakened vulcan. I'm okay Viola, i'll hold them back until you finish that one. With that said , he stood up and looked straight into the eyes of the Vulcans . Bring it.

The fight that Indar was having completely stopped, both him and the two vulcans that he was fighting were staring at Violas power. Viola had scared off the wood and forest vulcan who both were still fairly strong but as they were primal they were scared of such magic. But Viola didn't stop there, it looked like she was going to rip the mountain vulcan and the woman apart. Indar was shocked at the power Viola had but if she was going to use it on that vulcan right now it would kill the woman. Viola, stop, you will do something right now you will regret. Indars voice didn't seem to reach her. How do i stop her? I have an idea but it probably won't work.

Indar took the plunge and ran into Viola, knocking her off her feet. Viola calm down, it is just a vulcan. Indar was getting hurt by the vortex but he had to bring Viola out of her stance. Indar kept yelling but it didn't seem to work, nothing was getting through so Indar got back up, looked at the vulcan and ran straight for it. While running he yelled Mythryl Straal. As he made it to the vulcan, it was still looking at Viola. Indar had the perfect chance, he slammed his fist, which still had the gauntlet spell up, into the leg of the ape, which seemed to have injured it. Following up with a punch into the arm that was holding the woman.  The mountain vulcan dropped the woman and yelled out in frustration. Right after the woman was freed, Indar activated the Straal magic circles, that had come up earlier, they both fired two lasers straight into the vulcan. This didn't finish it off and it looked at Indar, who just standing in front of it. He was furious and used all his strength to slam Indar, who had no way of escape, head first into a tree.

As Indar opened his eyes in a few seconds, he was upside down. He sat down next to the tree and yelled: Viola that ape is all yours, i know you have the power to finish it. He hoped that she had heard him. Indar noticed that the woman they came to rescue had ran away already. Indar sighed in relief and touched his head, it was bleeding, well he landed head first into a tree. It is all up to you now Viola, he said quietly while trying to keep up his consciousness.

Indar, while drifting between consciousness and unconsciousness, was looking at Viola through the corner of his eye. He was really at his limit. He couldn't really move and the blood dripping from his head blurred his vision. The last look he had before dozing off was that of Viola defeating the vulcan. He was happy, they had done what was asked of them even though the reward was just a few jewel, which was definitely too little for this kind of job.

Indar opened his eyes to Violas smoothing voice: "We did.. it.. Indar..", Indar didn't really understand what was going on but he felt Viola bandaging his head. He didn't understand what Viola said, he had lost too much blood and just needed some rest. He felt Viola helping him up so he could lean on her to somewhat walk. This job was a little too tough, but we managed and that is all that matters., nothing more really came out of Indar, he was almost like a dead body, only capable of walking slowly. It would take some time until they reached Magnolia.

Time passed as they walked, Indar leaning on Viola, they didn't say anything. It was just silence but not bad silence more like serene silence. It was relaxing, knowing that they both would be okay and that the job was finished. It had been a long time since Indar felt like this, he knew that it would take at least a week to restore his strength but he didn't mind. He had finished a job together with a friend who had now become one of the most important people of his life.
