    Job Info:

It had been such a relaxing day at the Sabertooth guild hall. There weren't too many jobs up at the moment and, given how he'd been working his ass off since joining the guild, Marick had intended to spend the day doing his favourite hobby; drinking. He didn't have much time for it nowadays, so getting one day to do so was like bliss to the Solitaire. Whilst he'd been sat at the guild's bar he had begun chatting with the many members that had recently taken the teleportation lacrima to the guild's doors, offering advice to some and simply chatting idly to others. Of those members, one had been stuck to the bar for almost as long as Marick had. Unfortunately, just as the two had started to speak, a younger member of the guild had rushed in with news; Oak Town was being attacked by an insane fire wizard and they were struggling to hold him back. That was how the two newly acquainted drinking partners of Sabertooth had found themselves flung into action. With Oak Town being so close to their guild hall, it made sense that they should head there. They'd get there considerably faster than any other guild after all.

Marick had no need to look behind him as he seemed to almost glide around the mass of panicked civilians as they fled the scene of the chaos. Although he'd only just met this 'Alexander Zenneth', he could tell that the young man was dedicated to the job just from his reaction upon hearing the news. Instead the Paragon's eyes looked skyward as a plume of smoke arose from a couple of streets away from the pair, signalling where the fire wizard and his followers would be at this point in time. "I hope you're prepared." he called back to his guildmate, although in all honesty he needn't have asked. It was more simply to create a level of communication between the two magi.

Alexander was giving himself a celebration for a job well done on finding that ring. It was an exhausting, low paying job that caused him no small amount of headaches. But now he could sit down and relax and throw back a couple mugs of beer. He was enjoying the small amount of peace and quiet that he got before he chose his next job. Not like he was in particular hurry in getting another one, it would be another D-rank that was more trouble than its worth. He wanted to do something a little bit more exciting, something to test his swordplay.

He took a look at the table and noticed that he was not alone at the bar. He chuckled slightly as he was not alone, but another member was tossing back the same amount of beers as he was. It wasn’t a drinking contest, but it might as well be one with the amount of empty glasses sitting about. This man was a fellow connoisseur of fine alcohol as well. Alexander may have just found a friend in the Paragon or a drinking rival. In a way it was hard to say, but still enjoyed the silent company.

The peace was interrupted with warning about an attack in Oak town, but Alexander was already standing at the word ‘attack.’ Innocents were in danger and someone needed to rescue the civilians. There was no doubt in Alexander’s mind that he was going to come for their aide and nothing would change his mind. It was do or die when it came to this. He turned to the Paragon and answered, “Always.” Alexander understood rank and would follow the experienced mage in this endeavor. Would they make it in time though?

Marick came to a brief halt as he headed towards the next street along; the crowd seemed to be growing larger and more dense by the minute. Taking the main streets all the way to the target would become difficult, and chances were that they would arrive as the fire wizard and his group had already moved on. The only other options were to take the backstreets, alleyways that were too narrow for the both of them to venture through together. Further down the current street was a store that had been midway through sorting a delivery. There were still some crates untouched, dropped helplessly onto the pathway as the workers had fled in justifiable fear. Marick gauged the gap in distance and height between the tallest crate and the roof of the small building. He wouldn't be able to make it with his own jumping ability alone. But with his swords effects...the odds were considerably better.

"You head down that alley. It should take you onto the next street along. I'll be right there." he ordered. He wasn't usually a particularly bossy man, but these circumstances required someone to take charge and make quick decisions. As soon as he'd given the orders to Zenneth, the Solitaire set upon his own method of reaching the street; he was to use the crates to jump up to the roof of the store and run along the rooftops to reach the next street across without having to cut through the crowds, and without having to squeeze into the alleyway where - with the two of them - there would be little room to fight were it required.

Alexander was right at Marick’s heels as he ran as fast he could, taking controlled breaths to maintain his stamina. The black smoke could be seen in the horizon as they got closer and closer. The screams of panic and fear could be heard from the distance. Nobody should ever live in fear… Well except from rabbits. Those things were vicious with their bites and scratches. He winced at the memory of his pet rabbit biting into his jugular as a kid and nearly killing him at a young age. Thank god for healing magic. He winced slightly at the memory, but continued to press on.

He smelled the fire first, then felt the heat of the flames. However he was not in the least bit surprised at the destruction that the flames brought upon the city. The chaos of people running out of their homes, the cries of children as they looked for their parents. This was war in all its horrors, but amongst the chaos there would be 2 people that would end their nightmares. Alexander responded with a nod as he continued his running pace. He didn’t stop for anything, not even for the mage that was about to torch a couple. He continued his pace that was faster than an average normal man and punched him across the face, causing the fireball spell to go wide. The couple had a chance to make a run for it, but the mage was still standing. Not for long however, because Alexander grabbed the man in the face and scraped his face along the whole alleyway. He made sure to have his face collide with every trash receptacle, debris and other disgusting thing along the way. It was unnecessary ruthlessness, but at the end of the tunnel, he tossed the unconscious body towards the feet of the other mages.

He emerged from the alleyway with glowing red eyes that seemed to flicker with a sinister flame in it. Every footstep seemed to burn the very ground he stepped on, leaving a very intimidating figure before them. He would give one final warning, “I will give you one chance. You will surrender peacefully or I will make sure you never harm another innocent again. It will hurt.” The only response was Alexander getting set on fire by the 3 mages. It seemed like the life of Alexander Zenneth was at an end. Nobody could survive being set on fire like that…could they?

As expected, the rooftops were completely clear with no-one in the Solitaire's way. He leapt from one rooftop to the next, his eyes focused on the street a few buildings away. As he ran, Marick could hear clearly the damage being down in the alleyway nearby; the alleyway his teammate had headed down, and now seemed to be causing quite the racket in. A small smirk crossed Marick's face as he remembered the last time he'd been to Oak Town. He'd made quite the racket that time too. Thinking about it, Oak Town seemed to have quite a few problems with criminals of late.

Before long the Sabertooth Ace was on the final rooftop before the street he was after. Alexander had managed to keep up, and exited the alleyway almost straight after, throwing the limp unconscious body of one of the weaker members of the cult to the ground. Marick smiled for just a brief moment, but his smile was wiped from his face as the remaining three mages in that area suddenly set his guildmate alight. He growled as his deck suddenly shot out 7 cards, and he gripped three of them tight as he jumped down from the rooftop. He didn't say a word as he played all three cards together; three 4's, meaning Chain Lightning. The three cards seemed to merge, before a large bolt of lightning struck the middle of the three men, then spread and struck the men on either side of him. They screamed in pain as the electricity ran through their bodies, with the middle man falling to his knees stunned. Marick immediately rushed towards Alexander afterwards. Any normal human being couldn't survive that surely?

“That was cute. Stupid but cute.”

Alexander took a deep breath and started to inhale. Of course they chose the hard way, there was little they could do now. Well they can all fear and repent when they get their butts handed to them. His eyes opened up, being brighter than the flames that licked his body, and opened his mouth in an evil smile. The flames appeared as if they were sucked in a vacuum, but it was really his mouth. The flames tasted like spicy food, but it suited to his taste. It was the taste of corruption, insanity and flat out stupidity. There was no more of the smiling and levelheaded Alexander Zenneth anymore. Instead it was replaced by what one could call a monster taking human form. Alexander finally swallowed the flames and felt more energetic for it.

Alexander casually took a simple forward. The ground was scorched upon his foot touching the ground. He watched as the lightning coursed through the person’s body and forced one of them to the knees. There was a few burns here and there, but noting so serious. A lot of the wounds were healed by inhaling the fire. Alexander then proceeded to run towards the one that was unharmed, “I don’t want to set the world on fire~!” He started to sing deranged as his body ignited into a hellish fire as Alexander gain speed. The man had little time to react as he propelled into the man at about 40 miles per hour. The man was then grabbed in the face by said propulsion, causing burns in the area, until he was slammed into a brick house. He continued, “I just want to start. A flame in your heart!~” He hurt from the impact, but it mattered little. There was fire everywhere and people that needed their bodies burned to ash. It was obvious Alexander was not there.

Marick watched his teammate seemingly vacuum the flames that had covered him, devouring them with minimal effort. A slayer...Sabertooth's really starting to attract some interesting people now. he thought to himself, taking a step back as Alex suddenly gained a burst of speed and blasted one of the fire mages into a wall opposite the alleyway. "Not bad for a newbie. Not bad at all." he muttered beneath his breath. He turned his attention back to the two remaining mages, just in time to see the other fire mage firing a wave of flames at him. In an instinctive action, Marick gripped a card from his hand and played it; 3: Redirect. The card grew to six feet in height and the face turned to a shiny, mirror-like surface. The flames hit the card and seemed to vanish for a moment. Marick contemplated firing the flames back at first. Instead however, he felt it might be useful to make use of his partners abilities.

"Alex! Heads up!" he called, as the card turned and launched the wave of flames as another fireball directly at the Sabertooth mage. As the fire spell was redirected, Marick gripped another card and played it; 5: Fireball. His spell flew at the opposing fire mage, catching him completely off-guard after the Solitaire had just redirected the last fire spell. Shouldn't cast spells if you can't cope with them... he thought to himself with a sigh. These wizards had been causing such a ruckus and yet here Marick and Alex were, picking them off like they were mere rodents. The Rising Star couldn't help but feel that something was a little off though. There was a very familiar feeling in the air surrounding the currently stunned fire-make wizard. But what was it?

“You are lucky that I don’t just kill you where you stand. You better rethink your life.”

Alexander gave one final slam to the fire mage that was not so cocky anymore. There was a sickening snapping noise as he broke the man’s jaw from the impact. It was better safe than sorry when it came to fights.   Still may have been a bit overkill though. He released the man from his grip and let the man sloop to the ground unconscious. He was definitely going to feel it though when he wakes up. His orbs of fire for eyes watched condescendingly as the man fell to the ground.

His insane grin went wider as the fireball flew towards Alexander. This was funny, they realize that they can’t hurt Alexander so they instead they go after the stronger of the 2 mages instead of running. It was cute of them to even try. His mouth opened as the ball of fire collapsed upon itself and like a whirlpool was sucked into Alexander’s mouth. He commented, “I taste fear, desperation and stupidity. We gave you all a chance to surrender. We gave you all chance to leave this unharmed.”  Alexander looked at the 2 remaining mages and decided who to attack next. Obviously Marick should take the more dangerous of the 2 mages, so he decided on the [b] was [b] cocky mage. Alexander pointed one finger at the underling and made a slashing motion across his neck. This was a clear message to the mage that he intended to hurt him and also to signal Marick who he was going to attack next. That way he can focus on taking the insane mage down for the count. This was going to be fun.~

As Alexander was dealing with the other fire wizard, Marick was able to turn his attention to the more insane opponent of the two. "Stop my fire will you? Nonono, that just won't do!" the mage called out, staggering to his feet as the effects of Marick's earlier spell slowly left his body. "A poet as well as a madman. You are busy aren't you?" the Solitaire retorted with a smirk. The crazed inferno simply growled before creating a large wall of fire above Marick's head. Marick jumped backwards to dodge it, only to find that the fire-make mage had turned much of the floor to a blazing fire pit. The flames licked up the Sabertooth Ace's legs, wrapping themselves around him and keeping him rooted in place as they burned him. He winced in pain, but was far from defeated. This was only the first attack to hit him afterall.

As the wall fell before him it dispersed, with some of the flames licking at his torso now. The longer he was rooted here, the more damage he'd probably end up taking. He could still fight though, and fight he would - he couldn't have Alex showing him up too much now could he? The Rising Star gripped the five cards he now had in his hand and launched them at his opponent, with 4 of them finding their mark and striking the madman in the gut. "You're against Sabertooth's Paragon. Surely you didn't expect me to go down so easily?" he asked as he received rather the disgusted look.

Alexander started laughing his arse off, this was glorious battle at its finest. There was no mercy left in his soul anymore. They made their choice to hurt innocents and become murderers, arsonists and generally stupid people. They would pay for their sins with pain, for fire was indiscriminate. Fire was a tool to the Demon Slayers arsenal and the city was now his workshop. It was his playground and a warzone mixed in a milkshake of tasy proportions.

Alexander looked at the other mage who stared back. His cockiness was no longer there, but intead his face was sweating. He knew that he had no chance in hell to beating him with fire, but he was going to try anyways. Desperation made people do stupid things. Alexander pointed the finger at the man and blasted a ball of pure fire that flew from his fingers and into the cocky mage at the same time that he shot the demon slayer. They both traded blows, but Alexander obviously had a bigger effect. There some pain from minor burns, but was soon eaten as well. Fire had little effect on him so much that Alexander was getting cocky. It was a mistake that someone could take advantage of, but nobody was taking advantage of it yet. He slowly walked towards the burning man that had fire on him that stuck and wasn’t going out. He told the burning man, “You are an insult to fire mages. Fire is the magic of passion. It’s the magic of creation when used right. Of warmth of the soul. You however insult it with unparalleled destruction, so burn you son of a –“

Marick's focus on the fire-make wizard was beginning to be pulled from him as he could hear his guildmate quickly losing his cool. Compared to the man he'd started this job with, Alex was becoming more and more monstrous with every passing moment - and Marick felt partially to blame as he'd quite literally fed the flames. He drew another card, then another as he'd drawn a 2. Nothing he had would be of any use to deal damage right now, but he did have an alternative. He had to stop Alex before he did something that the both of them would regret. As another spell made its way towards the Solitaire he gripped two cards. He threw the first one in front of him to take the brunt of the damage coming his way. The second he threw a considerably further distance. It landed in between Alex and his target, before both cards expanded to protect both Marick and the fire wizard that Alex had been fighting. It wouldn't deal any damage to Alex, but it would split him apart from his opponent.

Sabertooth's Ace wasn't so lucky, as the fire-make mage created a flaming hammer that punched through his card shield and smashed him in the gut. As soon as it struck, the flaming tendrils let go of his legs and Marick was blown back a few feet, unable to brace his legs in time to prevent the strike. He crashed into a wall and created quite the large dent into it. He winced in pain, before looking up at Alex from a distance. "You need to keep your cool. Life's too short for regrets." he shouted out. He pulled himself to his feet and brushed himself off with a low groan. "Well then...it's been a while since I've been hit like that..."

Alexander was taking step forward towards the person that was on fire. He was just going to watch him burn as he screamed in agony. The beautiful thing about fire is that it triggers a person fight or flight instinct in people. People don’t think straight normally when they are on fire, so there was the mage falling to the floor and writhing in complete agony. He wouldn’t be screaming for much longer when Alexander was done with him. He casually step forward towards the mage that by now had the common sense to stop, drop and roll. Alexander was going to make sure he didn’t roll around to much as he started to go into a sprint, but his focus was so much on the guy he was trying to defeat that he paid no attention to the card that was thrown between them. In fact, he ran straight into it at full speed.

It was like getting hit with a brick wall as Alexander’s face impacted the cards shield. There was a loud smack and Alexander took a step back and grabbed his head. There was a blinding pain as he grabbed his head and groaned in pain. He yelled out, “What the hell Marick? We are on the same side here!” He was really now, so mad that for a split second he actually contemplated setting Marick on fire. Maricks action did not snap him back to normal, but instead made it much worse. It was easily shown by the fact that the fire in his eyes glowed brighter than normal and the ground was scorching hotter. He was extremely pissed for this was not the first time he was betrayed ever and in his deranged state thought he was stabbed in the back.

Clearly Marick's actions hadn't helped, and Alexander hadn't snapped out of his delirious state. The Solitaire would have to end this quickly if he was to prevent Alex from killing the fire wizard. He guessed that the demon slayer was probably contemplating taking revenge for that move though, meaning Marick might have one extra fire mage to contend with. Still, once Alex was calm, hopefully he'd understand Marick's actions. If not...well, the guild would have a considerable amount of tension for a while.

But Marick couldn't focus on his teammate right now. The Fire-make wizard was on him again, creating another fire wall that he intended to drop on Marick. This time though the Sabertooth mage was prepared. He wasn't going to fall for the same trick twice. He rolled forwards to clear himself of the wall, then immediately jumped, going over the firepit that he'd predicted would be there waiting for him. In one swift motion as he landed, he gripped his sword and slashed his opponents chest, sending the crazed mage backwards a few steps. I came here to deal with one insane fire mage...I've ended up with two... he thought to himself, glancing over at Alex again briefly before turning to look at his opponent. "I didn't want to have to go all out...but it looks like I have little choice..." he sighed as he cast a spell from his hand; 8: Deny. The mage grunted as the spell cast a seal on his fire pit, preventing him from casting it for a longer period of time.

Not the Time for an Afternoon Freakout (Marick and Zenneth) Empty Re: Not the Time for an Afternoon Freakout (Marick and Zenneth)

Post by Zeon 7th March 2014, 5:23 am

Alexander’s soul burned with utmost anger and thus it reflected on the exterior. There was murder in his eyes, no trace of the Alexander that people knew and loved. Instead was a raging creature that was wearing Alexander’s skin. This was utter evil incarnate and now he was stepping towards Marick with utter pure hate in his eyes. It was the eyes of someone that wanted to kill someone. Someone that wanted to cause as much pain as possible.

The mage he was attacking had the misfortune of standing up again. He had put himself out from being set on fire and launched a fireball at Marick. How dare he?! Nobody was going to kill Marick but him! The man was not going to steal vengeance from him! The fireball didn’t even get farther than 2 feet passed him when it curved around, got bigger and hit the fire mage straight in the face. Alexander didn’t even look at the mage, but knew from the agony of pure screams of third degree burns that he wasn’t going to interrupt again. In fact he was going to be in a hospital for months to come with injuries like that. Now his focus was on Marick and only that man.

Alexander snarled and inhaled deeply as the houses nearby were getting sucked into the empty black hole that was his stomach. He did not stop, until every single fire was devoured in the immediate vicinity. Normally this would be a good thing as now the civilians were not at risk anymore, but soon something much worse was going to emerge. And it wanted to kill Marick.

Marick didn't need to turn and face Alex to know he was approaching; he could feel the heat rising and the ground being scorched with every step the Demon Slayer took. He could also feel the eyes of his guildmate burning through his skin with hatred. Nonetheless the Rising Star of Fiore remained completely calm. The insane fire-make wizard attempted another fire wave on Marick, which he simply ducked from. The wave was headed for Alex, but he was more than sure Alex could deal with a measly spell such as that. He'd just inhaled a higher volume of fire in a minute than Marick could down alcohol in the same time, a feat that wasn't easily matched let alone beaten. He cut the fire-make mage back again, before kicking him backwards into a wall.

He looked down at his opponent, but as he spoke it was clear that his words were aimed at Alex. "When you take me on there's no going back. I won't ease up until I've done what is necessary. There is a line drawn here...do you really intend to cross it?" Marick closed his eyes now, using only his ears to listen for any attacks that might be headed his way. He wanted to avoid a fight with his guildmate if he could. He'd acted purely out of concern initially and although he had no regrets for his action, he certainly didn't want it to come to this. His cards levitated around his body, ready to be called into play as and when they would be needed. It was all down to Alex now.

Alexander mouth was like a black hole devouring all that could be eaten in the vicinity, but there was still just one bit missing before his true power emerged. That one little bit of fire before he could truly awaken, but luckily there was one more fireball headed his way that was caught in the vortex. One more last tasty meal of desperation and fear. To say it was a warm feeling was a bit of an exaggeration though, it was much hotter than that. In fact some could say it was hotter than the actual house fires that plagued the city.

The next thing that happened was Alexander skin glowed red hot and made him glow. Then it burst out of his skin formed into sinister aura surrounding Alexander in the shape of one of the demon from hell. It had even the same sinister eyes as Alexander, but much more evil. He let out a bloodcurdling roar that shook the unstable foundations of the surrounding building. And its rage was focused on Marick and seemed to speak in 2 different voices. One was Alexander’s, but the other one was definitely not human. This could give an answer what the hell was messing with Alexander’s minds. It answered, “You were already the first to cross that line when you attacked me.”  Alexander charged up to his guild mate with even more abnormal speed for a human. He wasn’t going to let him throw any of his cards and grabbed the pressure pint in the wrist and twisted it back to attempt forcing him to release cards or risk a broken wrist, other was around Marick’s neck and choking him. In either 2 spots there would be agonizing as the nerves would flare up from the heat. It was even more agonizing because of Alexander’s demon force. Marick would have to think fast.

Marick could feel Alexander going for him before his guildmate was anywhere near him. The heat had increased to insane levels, the steps as the Demon Slayer approached him were heavy as the flames scorched the ground and gave off a hiss of smoke. These signs gave the Solitaire more than enough time to make his move. He gripped a card and cast it in the second before Alex reached him; Black Joker. Marick was teleported behind his fellow guildmate, and watched with a raised eyebrow as the demonic form put heavy pressure onto the doppelganger, which eventually dissipated from the damage it had sustained. Had Marick not cast that spell, he'd be in intense pain right now. That wasn't what concerned him though. Alex was already losing his cool even before the incident, only to blow his top and lose control after Marick's defensive spell caught him. In his current state he was a danger not only to the mission and to Marick, but to himself and potentially the entire guild. He had promise, but he'd have to learn to control his inner demon.

"I never attacked you. I attempted to put a barrier between yourself and your target in an attempt to prevent you from getting to exactly this level. Unfortunately luck decided to play a part in it. That spell is strictly defensive, and the fact it caught you was purely an accident. Now...we have a job to do. Are you going to cool off and finish it, or will I have to do this alone and have you suspended from guild activities INCLUDING jobs?" The Solitaire's voice was calm and soft, yet the last line would somehow ring with complete seriousness. He didn't want to hold his guildmate back. He knew just from their short encounter back at the guildhall that the two of them would probably get along quite well. But if Alex wasn't able to quell his demon now, then Marick would have little choice but to force the Demon Slayer to go through intense solitary training so he could learn to control his rage and that hidden beast. The risk to the other members of the guild - as well as to members of the public - would have to take priority over the young man's potential.

Alexander did not pause or hesitate or even flinched when he said it. It was as if he was not there anymore as he broke ‘Marick’s’ wrist and tore off his head. If Alexander was there then he was buried underneath the demonic presence that was radiating. Instead there was that demon that admittedly was stupid or was it because the little bit of Alexander made it focus on the fake than the original. Alexander’s very soul was drowned in the darkness of the demons aura. Alexander could at least regain control now as the anger settled down a bit. The blaze was receding for now and was about to hit the point of returning to back to Alexander for split second, but then Marick had to open his mouth and make Adramalech realize that he was still alive. It would have been better that the demon thought he was dead, at least then he would have been left in a burnt out state. Luckily for Marick it didn’t look in his direction, but unluckily for the Fire Mage it saw him. The demon in its anger forgotten all about him, but now the origin of his anger was in its sights. He muttered, "Your pain shall be legendary..."

Adramalech let out a laugh as he could smell the man’s fear as it ran up to him and at 60 mph crashed into him and into the building. There was so much propulsion thanks to the Dragon Force that they both went through the window, through several walls and into the other side of the street. The house then trembled and collapsed, not being able to support the weight anymore. The house was already compromised in the fire and looked like it was going to fall anyways even if there was not a human cannonball going through it. However Adramalech was not done with the fire usurper as he slammed the man into the ground and threw him into a building that was still on fire. Marick would have to make a choice.

Post by Guest 9th March 2014, 4:26 am

Marick gave out a small sigh and shook his head. It seemed that the Solitaire's fears had been confirmed; Alex was deep down in his own body and mind, and that the demon was almost entirely in control right now. Marick had little choice but to bring him under control one way or another before someone ended up dead. Given the little display the demon had shown Marick, it could well be him. He brushed his hand over his deck holder to draw a new card and nodded as he registered what it was. He'd need this now.

The demon tackled the insane fire mage - who'd failed to fire off an attack since Demon Force had taken over - clearly enraged to hear that Marick was still alive and kicking. The pair blew through the house and out the other side, causing the already damaged building to creak before simply collapsing under its own weight. The Sabertooth Ace had to act fast. He rushed down the alleyway beside the destroyed house then, as he came out of the alleyway and saw the two magi, he gripped the card he'd just drawn; 7: Water Pulse. "I'm sorry Alex, but I've little choice..." he muttered, before casting it. The card flew a few feet in front of its owner before blasting out a large jet of water that managed to soak both mages. Of course, this would deal considerable damage as both of the men were weak to the element.

Marick stood from a distance, waiting and hoping that this would be enough to calm Alex and bring him to his senses.

Alexander was about ready to throw the man into the building of fire, but stopped upon hearing a voice behind him. Adromelech turns to see the blonde creature was not dead, the one called Marick. However its glowing red eyes widened as a jet of water wet straight at it. It had no time to doge, but instead could only put the frightened fire mage in the way to mitigate the damage on his host. For it still had many plans for Alexander, but it was time for another day. Adromelech would make sure its pet would be punished for escaping his leash.

The man took the brunt of the damage, but not all of it for there was residual water that poured over Alexander, to say it was painful was an understatement. It felt like someone peeled his skin with a blunt butter knife and took their sweet time doing so. It seemed to take forever, but there was a gratifying sensation to go with it. Like peeling a scab; painful but oddly enjoyable.

There was a giant ball steam that was created from fire mixing with water covering the 2 in a thick blanket of fog as it cooled in the air. The was no movement inside the fog however for a while, whether it worked or not for a while could not be said. There was then a annoyed voice with no demonic presence, “Was that really necessary?” He was not necessarily referring to the water jet, but angering the demon.

"Not now." Marick replied bluntly. There'd been enough issues surrounding this job and he wasn't about to start another one right at this moment. He was about to pull his sword out again when a sudden blast of fire from the mage caught him off-guard, sending him flying back about ten feet and hitting the wall of the building behind him. The wall crumbled briefly before collapsing, trapping the Solitaire beneath the rubble. "...bollocks..." he growled through the pain of having a considerable weight upon him...and the fact that the building was now not exactly stable. Right above his head was a thick wooden beam swinging precariously as only a single bolt held it in place. One wrong movement would result in a very much dead Marick. He shuffled carefully beneath the rubble, managing to slip a single arm out to begin pushing the rubble away. He didn't have much time by the sounds of the creaking around him. "Quickly but carefully Marick...quickly but carefully." he muttered under his breath. Today had been one hell of a rough day considering it was intended to have been a nice relaxed day off.

Meanwhile the Fire-Make mage was now beginning to turn his attention to Alex, clearly back to being confident now he believed he'd gotten rid of the stronger of the two magi. He still couldn't hurt Alex with the fire magic but, now that the enraged fire-eater had calmed, he could maybe try a more physical approach. He pushed himself to his feet ready to fight.

Post by Zeon 13th March 2014, 8:12 am

Alexander watched a house fell down, but did not rush across the street to save Marick. Mostly because steam blocked his view and light was reflecting from inside the fog thanks to the demon force he was still in. Water did not completely suppress Demon Force after all, it just doused the flames a bit. Alexander was hurt, but not out of combat quite yet. There was a bit of a sigh and the light of the demon slayer changed from a fearsome to a gentle variation. The fury was gone, but the judgment was still there.

He sighed, he did not have Adromelech possess him like that for a long time. 1 year, 3 months and 18 days to be precise. Now he was back to square one and had to work towards controlling it again. 1 year of effort lost in 1 second of anger. He needed to do better if he wanted to control it. He couldn’t let the Adromelech corrupt what light he had left.

His thoughts were interrupted when a fist went flying to his face, blood spurted from his face as he fell down. He thought that guy was down for the count! What was it going to take for him to stay down? Alexander said, “You made a mistake. You should have stayed down.” Alexander focused all of his energy into one of the burning buildings that was close to him and made it bend to his will. It was over and the man did not even realize it yet. All the fire from the building leapt out and condensed to a single point that centered on the man before him. Alexander muttered, “Burn you son of a b****.” Soon there was a smell of Barbecue filing the air as the man burnt. Alexander simply watched, ready to put out the fire when he had enough.

Marick could hear the screaming of the fire mage outside as well as just about smell the burning, although in truth that could have been from any of the number of houses that had been burned down. His focus however was on that piece of debris that still dangled precariously over his head, threatening to drop and turn his head into brain soup. With his free hand he pushed some rubble off of his other shoulder, trying his best to free his other arm. As the rubble was pushed further and further off of him, he could hear the creaking getting louder and more constant. The rubble on either side was most likely holding the wall up. Him getting out was causing it to shift which would undoubtedly result in the whole building coming down on top of him. His suspicions were confirmed as his other arm was freed and the ceiling caved in, causing the piece of debris to fall right atop him. In a quick and fortunate reaction Marick brought up both of his hands and his lineage kicked in as he caught the debris seemingly effortlessly and used it to protect his face and body as he kicked himself out; he had nothing to lose, as being heavy handed wasn't going to make any difference to the state of the building now. As soon as he was out he dropped the debris and began to dust himself off.

Note to self; Fairy Tail is still an option...

He looked in the direction of Alexander and sighed at the sight. The fire mage was burning inside a considerable amount of flames, which were obviously set upon him by the Sabertooth mage. "Let him out Alex. He can't do anything now." He walked over to his guildmate and looked down at the whimpering and burned figure that was the fire mage. They'd stopped the rampage, but at what price? "...we should get out of here. Get our reward and get back to the guildhall."

    ----
(Agreed on ending the fight as the mage can't actually deal anything of note to Alex anyway. Will end the thread after Alex's reaction post.)

Post by Zeon 13th March 2014, 7:11 pm

Alexander just watched condescendingly at the man as he burnt and asked to be put out. However Alexander just watched as the man suffered third degree burns, but not made any move to spare him of any pain. It was just a peaceful look to see evil burn, to make him pay for all who suffered under his magic. There was little that could persuade Alexander to stop the burning until he was done. He deserved to suffer for putting people out of homes and taking lives. This was justice, but he would not kill him. There was something much worse in store for him.

He didn’t even have to have to be told anything to put out the man, which he simply ate the fire. It was the bittersweet taste of victory, but at a price there was not a part of his psyche the reemerged again that he thought buried. He sighed as the Demon Force sputtered out, leaving him exhausted and feeling the cuts and bruises that he suffered in the fight. It was good though, it meant he was still human. He looked at Marick for a few seconds and did not say anything to him. There was anger and resentment still. Feelings that would not go away easily. Marick broke the chains that he had placed on the demon and now had to make Alexander fight for his soul again.

Alexander simply walked away, but not in the direction of the guild. Instead he continued walking down the streets and continued eating the fire. If he was going to fight the corruption in his soul, then he was going to do it on a full stomach. Besides it was easier for him to put out the fires than the bucket chain they were doing. Now instead they could mob and start beating the crap out of the 3rd degree burned boss on the ground. If he didn’t kill him with the burns, the mob sure did. He chuckled and just simply continued eating fire until he had his fill and the people were safe. He did not care about the jewels for it was never about the jewels... He had a higher calling than earning jewels...
