    The Job:

The job was something that Frederick reluctantly decided to take on, for he wasn't someone that usually saved lives. But saving the people of this village was not the thing he was after. No he was hunting down the culprit, a man who was a fugitive and had done some damage at other places before. And during this man's mischief he had created enough enemies, that someone had place a bounty on his head. His bloodied severed head.
And be that as it may the man had fled towards the Mountain Village, where once again he had created a disaster. This time in the form of a flood by breaking one of the levers of the local dam.

But saving these people was just a small inconvenience that came with it's own merits as well. It was the perfect disguise for him and his companion to hunt him down. Under the cover of the towns saviors they could easily move around. Without any of the villagers suspecting them.
Especially if the one doing the hunting was a little girl, whom at first glance could look very innocent. But nothing was less true, the young girl who was his companion for the mission was one of the most cruelest members of the guild. It was mostly because of her pure nature of evil, and the part that she was actually an undead helped a lot too. And then there was off course her magic, which was as twisted as herself. And with it she was the perfect candidate to trap the man who had caused all this destruction.

The sight of the water clashing against the walls made out of sandbags, was truly a sight to behold. It was one the most powerful forces of nature and the destruction this flood has caused showed it. In it's path from the dam it had taken down tree, houses and everything else in between. But only when it had reach a more open space it had become a true problem for the villagers. It had become a rising tide that start to fill the streets. And was only kept out by poorly made walls that consisted out of bags of sand. After watching the villager fighting relentlessly against the water, Frederick turned his attention towards the young girl.
'Quite a situation we got here, isn't that right Sinali'

It was a strange task for dark mages to take. Particularly for one such as Sinali whose only goal in life was the extinction of all life, particularly those who persecuted her for who she was. Today she had been requested by Lord Frederik, master of Savage Skull and the most powerful dark mage she had met, to help him protect some merchandise as it was moved from one location to another. She suspected, quite accurately, that he had only asked her to go on this mission to see if she could handle such a mission. He likely wouldn't intervene unless she was overwhelmed in some fashion. It was a test, like most tasks Frederik would assign to his underlings. It was the only logical explanation for a powerful mage like Frederik to invite her on a mere C rank mission. Or so she thought anyway before Frederik explained the mission on the way. They were here to stop a flood and catch the man responsible.

As usual the young zombie mage, with her grey skin and matted black hair, was wearing her tattered red dress. Other than that (and underwear of course) she wore nothing, not even shoes.  Her eye upon which was tatooed her guild crest was closed and it would remain so for this mission. Otherwise her allegiance would be revealed. Plus the eye couldn't see anyway so it wasn't much of an issue for her.

She stood next to the master of her guild watching the water. It had killed people, drowned them or caused things to fall on them. Hiding her delight was difficult. Helping these people was harder, harder than anything for her. Fortunately, the guild master distracted that train of thought with a question. "Yes, Mister Fredwick." she said in her innocent lispy voice. It seemed from what he had said that Frederik was going to deal with the flooding whilst she dealt with the one responsible. Frederik wanted his head for the bounty it provided. She didn't mind that. Taking the head would be easy. Keeping it in a recognizable state would be harder. Keeping it attached to a living body would be very hard. That is why she asked her next question "Does the bad man have to be alive Mister?"

Sinali responded to Frederick with another question, but her voice was clearly in contrast then the content of the words she spoke. It was a voice that you could only expect coming from a young girl, only the words were tarnished with pure wickedness. It made her into the kind of human being that was evil to it's core. And not like Frederick, who was more like an empty husk driven my his own desire to bring back someone from his past. Someone who had fallen into darkness, and was molded into someone that didn't enjoyed anything.
Not like her, a girl who's darkness was more a life. More passionate, she did find joy in the things that the world had to offer. Even if it were some of the most cruel displays that life could offer.

'Well, it would be rather difficult to bring back a struggling fool.'
As he said that Frederick laid his hand on Sinali's head, and glared at her from under the hood. Most people saw it as a gesture of compassion, but in this case it was something empty. For Frederick didn't feel anything for this child. Not like a parent would do, so instead of a gesture of affection it was more a sign of respect. That Frederick acknowledge her childish presence and saw merit in it.
'But first we have to find him first, can you do that for me Sinali? Can you bring me the man'

After saying those words he retracted the his hand from the side of Sinali's face and walked away, towards the a group of villagers that were reinforcing the wall. As he got closer he could feel the water seeping in from the top of his boots. It seems that his help was truly needed in this place, which he found rather pathetic. That an entire village has to be saved by one man. And couldn't be achieved by an entire group. But that were peasants for you, their way of thinking was to easy.

So Sinali had to find the man and try to bring him back. It seemed from his words that he didn't mind if the man was dead. That made things a lot more fun. She began to walk off looking for any sign of the man. Now Sinali was a child, but she had a little bit of smarts and as an evil mage she knew how people treated children. An evil mage or man would try to use her as bait, not knowing that Frederik would probably sooner leave her to die. However, he would not need to. Trapping Sinali was very difficult. She was used to pain and so would happily break any of her bones to escape and even if every bone was broken she could move, if slowly. She was very hard to stop unless you knocked her unconscious or killed her.

For this reason she walked down the streets whistling to herself. It was a typical innocent look that served her well. People underestimated her because of her age, her gender and her apparent innocence. It was hard to believe that she was probably one of the most evil mages in existence. She wasn't there in terms of power yet, but one day she would be and then she would cause mass extinction for the human and every other race. Only the undead and spirits would remain. That was her plan. She might let a few select humans and stuff live.

"I wonder where the bad man is hiding." she said out loud. Perhaps he would hear her and take action. "He flooded this village...what a bad bad man." She sighed and shook her head. Her innocent act was so easy. Eventually the man would come for her or she would find him. Either way he would be taken down and most likely taken apart. It was what she did best.

As Frederick approached the poorly constructed wall, one of the villagers quickly walked up from him.  By the look of it the man looked tired, with deep bags under his eyes. Which wasn't that surprising, knowing that the man was probably fighting against the water for quite some time now. In what seemed to him like an endless struggle. The water itself didn't help, besides clashing against the sandbag wall it also showed another tiring aspect. It was cold, not a freezing temperature but still cold. And the splashed that managed fly over the top of the wall landed on the people that tried to hold the place together. Making them soaking wet.

They were actually fighting two battles, one to uphold the wall. And the second was the using up their last energies their bodies could probably have, only to keeping themselves warm.

    'HEY THERE!!'
The man that had approached him shouted out above the rumbling sound of the water.
'Are you the one that is here to aid us?!'

Frederick could see the desperation in the man his eyes, with his voice that was barely strong enough to be heard above the water. Not unlike Frederick, who didn't even had to shout. He just spoke with his normal monotone voice and didn't even raise it. And somehow was to be heard perfectly above the crushing sounds of the water.

'I am, now stand back. I am going to release some pressure against the wall.'

As Frederick said that he walked forwards till he was only a few inches apart from the wall. And at that moment a dark aura started to become visible around Frederick. And from out the pure blackness ten featureless tentacles shot out, also as black as night. They slowly raised above Frederick's head until they shot out towards the nearest two buildings who were at the other side of the wall. They crashed through the windows and doors and reached for anything that could even support the building in the slightest way. Ripping out a pillar, or crushing a supporting wall.

Post by Bass 5th January 2014, 10:54 am

It was as she was walking through the village that she was accosted. Not by the man responsible, the man she was hunting, as she had hoped. No, instead she was accosted by an animal. It was a large cat-like creature with fur as black as shadow. It reminded her of panthers she had seen in books. Its fur was sleek and quite pretty, but it was growling at her as if it meant business. She didn't want to have to deal with this creature right now and killing it in her usual manner would reveal her too much. She had but one choice. She screamed and ran in the opposite direction. To anyone watching it would look like a normal, if homeless and dirty, young girl being chased by a wild beast. However, Frederik would know that her screams were faked. She wouldn't scream if she needed help. No, she'd use some other secret signal. Fear was not something she really possessed. She hated being chained and feared it, but only if she couldn't escape. However, this was not such a situation.

"Somebody please help me." she screamed as she ran through the cold waters that had seeped into the town. "The big mean pussy cat wants to eat me. Ahhhhhhhhhhh" She moved down an alley and hid beside some crates. She was almost certain that the nightingale cat, or as she liked to think of the big black cat, would find her. Animals like that were normally fast and they had keen senses of smell. Her scent was kind of distinct, though maybe the water would hide it. That would be useful to her, though she was not thinking of this. Instead she sat on top of a small crate between two crates sobbing. Or at least faking sobbing. She had her eyes closed and was rubbing them and making quiet noises. If the cat came close she'd hear it with any luck. It would splash in the water. It couldn't be silent because of that. It could come across rooftops, but beasts normally growled or roared as they attacked. Enough time to react. Or so she felt.

With a last lunge at lower parts of the two building they started to come crashing down towards each other. And in their collapse they met each other in the water overrun street, and creating a secondary wall made out of broken parts and debris. But Frederick knew that it was not much for now, but at least it would take some of the pressure of the sandbag wall. Some of the water would even try to find an other way down the mountain. Not much right now, but it was a start.

The building that came crashing down was being met by the cheers of the villagers, why they did Frederick didn't know. He assumed it was because it was the first victory they had since their ordeal began.
'Allright, this will give you some time to build up a proper wall. In the meantime I will look for an other solution.'

Frederick retracted the tentacles back and climbed over the first wall, the first thing he noticed was that the water level had dropped a few inches. It was not much, but still it seemed that his plan had worked. He still found it annoying though, after all the water level behind the sandbag wall was still higher. And instead of just his feet the water was now almost reaching his waist.

He made his way through the water, towards his improvised wall and started to climb up one of the bigger parts of the debris. So that he could get a clear sight of what was going on.
What he saw was that the water was rushing downhill through a wide fissure, that ended at the town. Making it the receiving end for the water flow.
'Hmm it seems that this town is standing in the way of the water. And there is no other way to make the water go around it. Well At least not an easy way...'

She sat there quietly sobbing. It seemed, at the moment, that the cat had forgotten all about her. Either that or it had lost her scent. Both seemed unlikely, but she wasn't one to go against luck. She stopped sobbing and wiped her eyes peaking out and looking about. "Is the big bad kitty gone?" she said and then she saw it and quickly hid again. Not out of fear, but to keep her child-like innocence active in the eyes of anyone who might watch.

So The nightingale cat had found her as she expected it would. It stalked into the alley sniffing the air and began to growl lowly. It hadn't spotted her when she'd peeked out which was good. It probably thought it could trap her as there was no way out of the alley. It was now slowly stalking down the alley. Hiding would do her no good anymore. She had to fight. She stepped out of hiding and looked at the beast. "Kitty cat wants to play with me." she said quietly so no-one without sharp hearing could hear her. "Ok then. I'll play." It lunged forward and leapt at her, but, not fearing the water, she just dropped into it and it sailed right over. She came out of the water clutching a rock, a bit of rubble, that she had found beneath the water and threw it at the beast.

It turned and with its claw swatted it out of the air, which was slightly impressive. It was now her vs the cat. This was certainly going to be interesting, but she had to make it fast. Fortunately, as a mage it was possible for her to be able to kill such a creature. She just had to make it non-bloody otherwise people would not believe she was an innocent child mage. It was the only way.

As Frederick watched that natural formed walls of the fissure, he could come to only one conclusion. That in order to make the water flow a different direction he needed to blow out a big chunk from the edge of the fissure. That way, most of the water would find it's way around the town.
But it was easier said then done, for this to happen Frederick actually needed to one of his stronger spells. Probably even one that was the strongest from his arsenal, for this to happen he needed to create a wide hole. And that was only doable with with one of his signature spells, his Dark Void Exalted. A large pillar of black light that would be shot down from out a huge pentacle in the sky. And on impact it would devastate a large part of the fissures edge.

But before he could even start that spell up, he had to quickly evade a sudden attack. With a quick jump he landed back into the water and when he looked up he could see what his senses told him to evade. On the big chunk of debris where he stood earlier was now standing a cat like creature who was growling at him. Showing it's teeth that could easily rip out a piece of his flesh.
Suddenly a second growling was to be heard, this time from aside. And when Frederick quickly glanced from the corners of his eyes in that direction, he saw another cat coming his way. But this one was moving through the water as if it was nothing to deal with, it just easily moved it's body gracefully through the rough water.
'Fine, let's see what you can do. Diminishing Grasp!'

From out Frederick dark aura, a long black mass suddenly shot and started quickly to twirl around him. Showing the beast that he was no easy prey.

All of Sinali's combat spells, of which she had two, were quite brutal in their nature. One involved ripping out one of her ribs and using it as a boomerang. That she would find hard to explain to people because she did not yet have the ability to heal the wound, merely the ability to reattach the bone. The other basically turned her arm into a flail. It involved turning her hand into a spiked ball of bone, thus puncturing her hands, and hitting the opponent with her arm which stretched. This stretching could be done in a whip-like motion or a thrust, but again it would be hard to explain the wounds. Pretty much all of her spells seemed to really damage her in some way before being used. It was her magic's biggest weakness, but as an undead it didn't bother her. As her offensive spells were out of the question her only choice thus was to beat this without using magic. Unfortunately, she couldn't go as brutal as she'd like either because that would be hard to explain if someone was watching and likely scare off the man she was hunting. An instant death would be necessary it seemed unless she was forced to be more brutal. Of course, she didn't rationalise it like this she simple said to herself 'Fight like a normal sweet innocent girl.' The sweet innocent act was something she did very well, for a little while at least.

The beast lunged at her and she ran at it. As it leapt into the air she thrust her hands forward with all her strength and struck it in the face. Fortunately, she was unnaturally strong. This was not because she was undead, but due to her bloodline. She was said to have the strength of hercules himself. The blow of course had added damage due to the fact the beast was leaping at her. The skull of the beast caved in and she stared at it for a moment a faint grin coming to her face. She shook her head and then pretended to let out a sigh of relief. "Now the big bad kitty can't hurt me." she said and turned around leaving the alley. Hopefully no-one had seen her abnormal strength display. At least, hopefully her quarry wouldn't.

She walked off still pretending to be scared. Looking round wildly. She was acting like a normal little girl to some extent. She hoped to find her target soon because this innocent act was becoming harder. Particularly with enemies like the nightingale cat. With each kill it would be harder to keep the kills...normal.

Divert the flood (Frederick, Sinali) Empty Re: Divert the flood (Frederick, Sinali)

Post by Godlike Frederik 6th January 2014, 3:13 am

It was a rather intense scene, the two cats who stared at Frederick and slowly closed in on him. But they no longer growled anymore, no they were fully focussed on their prey. Which was rare, normally creatures of the feline race could easily spot something that was far out of their league. And mostly they would have avoid them at all cost.
But the flood has probably caused the creatures to go feral, making them to abandon their natural instincts for self preservation.

While the two creatures approached him, Frederick's dark mass still twirled around him. Creating a sort of vortex black look covering his body. That was until the dark mass broke free of it repetitive movement and dashed towards the two Nightingale Cats. But without avail, the first cat he aimed at easily evaded the incoming attack. Clearly not even bothered by the water it was standing in. While Frederick's movement itself was restricted by it.

The dark mass came around for another attack, and this time trying to hit both cats in one swoop. But once again, the cats appeared to be far more agile then they showed to be. And Frederick's attack clashed into their former positions.
Ant that moment Frederick knew he had to change his tactics, for if the cats would get the upper hand. He would be in trouble, sure he was powerful in the ways of magic. And his mind was one of the stronger weapons he possessed. But even though his the dark magic made him stronger against attacks it still didn't meant he wasn't susceptible to an continues attack of cats biting in his body.

But before Frederick could even think of another tactic, he and the cats got another unwelcome guest in their mids. A raging bull creature seemed to have found his way into town and immediately saw Frederick and the Nightingale cats as possible enemies.
And as it rushed in, Frederick could just barely evade the creature. While one of the cats was not so lucky. The bull was in a rampage and fully rushed into a cat with his head aimed towards it. Giving it a head but and throwing the cat high up in the air. High enough for it to land behind the second wall and being dragged of the water.

It seemed that most people in the town had gone to watch Lord Frederik in his conquest to stop the water from flooding the town. He likely too had been attacked by beasts as he would definitely be seen as a threat to the scared animals. Of course, people would be attracted to his fight. He was a guild master and thus incredibly powerful unlike her. One day though she would be strong enough and then he would die like all other living organisms. He'd be one of the last though as he had been kind to her to some extent even if it was in his own fashion. He had never berated her for her methodology or ideals. It was almost...fatherly, though also not fatherly in anyway at all. He was the closest thing she had though. It was strange in a way though she did not think on it much.

She wandered through the streets quietly, but it seemed she was not alone. The kitty cat thing she had killed earlier had at least one friend and it was walking towards her growling under its breath. She'd hoped for something different, that would make it easier to maintain her cuteness, but it was the same species. Now she was tempted, and very much so, to kill this in a more a brutal fashion. Maybe rip out its throat with her teeth. She shook her head. [color=darkred]"AHHHHHHHHHHH" she screamed in an oh-so-convincing manner. "Another big bad black cat wants to eat me." That was what her voice said and sounded like. It dripped with fear. However, she had a slight grin on her face. Keeping control was much more difficult. Her blind eye, which had remained closed this entire time, was opening a fraction. This was a sure sign she was getting serious. She whispered to herself. "I wonder if big cat's know how to play fetch."

The Bull was heavily breathing from it's nose, and because they were high up in a mountain area it's breath became visible from the cold. Making the creature look only more vicious. And when it focussed hit attention towards Frederick, the dark mage could see that his eyes were filled with thin red lines. Apparently the the flood had made this beast so feral that it had become nothing more then a rampaging monstrosity.

'Tch, you're nothing more then a mere beast..'

Frederick retracted the black mass back to him were it once again started to move around him in a twirling fashion. To a point were it once again broke free from the movement and dashed forwards. Only this time it was different, it had broken free in two different masses that moved significantly faster then when it was just one dark mass.

The two black masses were homing in onto the bull, and smashed into him concealing the beast for a moment. But without effect, apparently the creature was though enough to withstand the first barrage. But Frederick had the two masses come around immediately, and once again homed into the creature. But the beast managed to survive the attack once more. One mass clashed into him from the front, but beast practically ignored it. But as that black mass came together behind the beast another mass homed in onto his head. But it failed again, with a swipe of it's arm it deflected Frederick's attack.

But al this enraged the bull more as it started to roar loudly and stomped on the ground. Swinging his arms around and hitting everything that was around him. Launching pieces of debris into the air. But it quickly regained his focus again, and it was locked on to Frederick. It scraped with one of his feet over the ground, as you see most bulls do and let out another mighty roar before it trampled towards Frederick.

The beast came charging at her. Much like last time she tried to duck under it, but this one was smarter and raked her back with its claws. It hurt like hell and she let out a genuine scream, but it wasn't enough to stop her. She rolled and came up with a punch, but it batted her hand aside with a clever use of its tail. It was quite a clever beast it seemed. Better than the other one at least. It kept its distance from her now, circling her slowly. It had obvious sensed her strength and knew close range was now a danger unless it got in a key blow. Sinali felt she had no choice. She needed to use a bit of a ranged attack and catch the beast off guard. Though what would be her best option. The Big Bone Blade Boomerang had its advantages in that it wasn't just a one shot attack, but it made her look distinctly un-innocent. Dead stretch was a one hit attack and if it missed she'd have to wait a while before she could use it again. Still, it didn't leave a gaping hole in her chest. She nodded and lunged her arm forward.

"Dead Stretch." she said. The beast seeing this as an opening lunged forward, but that just added to the damage as now her moving fist would hit it that much harder. Her arm stretched to ten feet in length and the hand turned into a spiked ball of bone. It hit the beast in its open mouth and got caught in its throat. As the arm retracted the beast was pulled towards her and she slipped her hand out before whispering in its ear. "Beati Mortui." This was her magic's name, but also her signature saying. Blessed are the dead.

"Someone help me." she shouted. "The big bad kitty cat hurt me."

With a high velocity the two black masses returned to Frederick, only move around him and once again dash towards the rampaging bull. Only this time it had split into a third black mass, increasing their speed even more. But this time it wasn't supposed to be one attack no, the three masses homed onto the bull smashed into him with force. But they immediately regained their form again after the clash, only so that they could target the bull again.
This continued till the bull was almost at Frederick, and it was a pure clash of who would fall first. Because Frederick wasn't about to move even an inch.

But Frederick emerged as victor because with the last impact from the black masses, the bull succumbed to the pain from the impacts and fell down. Only to slide with it's unconscious body towards Frederick.
Who in turn had to step aside, so that the body didn't hit him as it came to a stop at his position.
'Pitiful beast, you are not match for my power. No one is'

With the bull down there was only one enemy remaining, the last of the Nightingale Cats. But after seeing the show of power that had happened before it's eyes, it came to a realization. That the prey they were stalking before was far out of their league. And that it had no chance what so ever that it could feast on Frederick's corpse. So with a last mean growl at Frederick, the cat decided to take it's leave. And gracefully jumped away via the pieces of debris.

'Now let's see what we can do about this flood'

Once more Frederick climbed up onto the improvised wall, so that he could see the water current stream forcefully through the canyon's entrance.
'Hmm, if I blow a huge hole at the right side of that canyons entrance. Then it would direct the flow of most the water passed the village. '

No-one had come to help her. No-one had even come near. She was bloodied, she was bruised and she was wet and ragged. It seemed that everyone really had gone to watch Frederik fight and do all his other things. Still, her instincts told her that someone was nearby. That or something. She had no idea what it was, but she hoped it wasn't another nightingale cat. Just using dead stretch had been restraint on her part. Normally, she'd prolong the fight to torture it to death. If it was another cat she didn't think she'd be able to restrain herself as much. It seemed that was too much to ask because with a distinct growl she was forced to throw herself flat to avoid the leap of another nightingale cat. However, this time it wasn't alone.

It had come with two large monkeys. They looked fast rather than strong. An annoyance nothing more. However, as they were more human-like restraint was that much harder. They were likely less of a threat than the cat, but enough that she couldn't hold back as much as necessary. Perhaps if she used some of her spells the bad man would think her exhausted and try to catch her. That would be her moment to take him out. She had a few tricks up her sleeves still.

"Uh oh, the big bad kitty cat brought friends." she said with a scared tone of voice. "Somebody helppppppppppppppppp"
