Personality: Matabei acts differently according to whomever she talks to. To her self appointed master, she will be submissive and respectful to. She never back talks her master, and will do anything they ask of her without question. She will bow and make her master as comfortable as possible, even if it makes her extremely uncomfortable. She will show respect to anyone her master shows respect to, even if she doesn’t respect them. She tries to keep a maid like personality around her master at all times. Around people she respects, she is quiet and polite. She tends to be a bit more controlled, and try not to allow her emotions get to her. She will try to help anyone she respects, but won’t allow them to tell her what to do. She will take whatever they say into consideration however. Matabei normally is a knight-type, trying to do the honorable thing at times. She tends to help out people in any way she can, whether it be a small helpful task or a big project. Matabei is a bit of a klutz, and falls on her face from time to time when meeting people. This also has her shouting a curse and throwing something, usually a rock of some sort. Matabei is sarcastic around friends, usually showing how she disagrees with them about something even if she knows they are right or have the best plan. She also does not tolerate those who act 'dishonorably', usually torturing them in a room somewhere with what they fear/hate the most. Matabei is kind to people, not showing her old personality when she used to be a dark mage to most people. She has a smile on her face normally, and will try to be upbeat around people. She shows nothing but respect to her guild master, and tends to try and be helpful to him and the guild whenever she is around. Matabei is very protective of her friends, and will do whatever it takes to ensure that they are okay in every way, shape, and form.
In battle, Matabei has a bit of a mean streak. Her plan is normally to cause as much damage to her opponent as possible. She tends to keep anyone not associate with her fight out of it, meaning innocents and any allies that are not able to battle will usually be moved out of the way beforehand, or avoided altogether during her fights. She usually fights up close, but will back off and use mid or long range spells when she needs to. She usually allows her master to take the lead in a fight, and will follow whatever they say without question. She will usually allow someone she respects to lead her into battle, especially if she knows they have great battle plans. She normally doesn’t lead, but if she does she makes orders that she expects everyone to follow. She hates disobedience, and will punish anyone who does not follow her orders. Matabei has a slight sadistic way of fighting, but tries to be honorable about defeating an opponent. She will kill if necessary, but not for fun or anything.
Likes:
-Her former master: Her previous master saved her from an untimely death, and she owes everything to her. Matabei praises her old master somewhat like one would a god.
-Drawing: Matabei has always been an artist. She enjoys taking time to create a new drawing and will spend a little time each day trying to come up with something new to draw.
-Ink: Her magic is based around it after all. She loves the feel of the ink between her fingers, and the beautiful art it makes. It makes her feel free, and it makes her believe the entire world can be crafted into her image, if only for a small moment.
Her Friends and Guild Master: She owes her change in attitude and beliefs to her friends and her new guild master, Zenshin. Without them, she could have turned a dark path that would have ended up being her death.
Dislikes:
-Magic Council: To Matabei, the Magic Council is useless. They make laws and force their will upon others, when they are cowards hiding behind a desk that do no real work themselves.
-Rich people: Rich people have enough money to supply others with help and care. So poverty should not be a problem, and Matabei hates the fact that it is. These people hoard their wealth and flaunt it off to others, which makes Matabei want to kill each and every one of them.
-Dishonoring Sabertooth: Her guild's honor is now one of the main things she lives for now. Dishonoring the name of Sabertooth means disappointing Zenshin and Marick, and that is one thing she will never like to do.
Motivations:
-To serve someone till the day she dies: She only wants to serve a worthy master forever, as then that person will have led the life they wanted. Matabei considers it her duty to see that whomever she follows succeeds in whatever they attempt, no matter if it costs her own life.
-To bring honor to Sabertooth's name: Once a hated enemy, Sabertooth has become her new home. She wants to make sure that she repays the favor to Zenshin, by upholding his morals and bringing honor to the name of Sabertooth.
-To find Gisen’s blade of Hatred: This legendary blade is currently held by a Dragon Slayer, and Matabei wants to find this person in order to gather important information on her family’s history. This blade has history with her family, and she wants to know more about how her family.
Fears:
-Becoming a useless tool: If Matabei has no use; she has no future or goal. If she has no use, then her master does not need her anymore. And that is something Matabei wants to avoid.
-Turning back to the darkness: Matabei has not looked back since leaving Savage Skull, and does not want to start now. She would rather kill herself than become a dark mage again, and will never allow anyone close to her to make the same mistake.
-Having a man defile her: Matabei believes men are disgusting creatures. To have one of them take what innocence she has left would absolutely destroy her, which is why she steers far away from them.
