Strange Vulcans Part 1 Naraku and Mishi

Job Information:

Mishi was waiting by the side of the road; he was leaning up against a tree reading the Gentleman’s Code for about the millionth time in his life. Mishi was waiting here because it was the only road into the village that had hired him and another mage for a job. Mishi wasn’t exactly sure who this other mage was only that he or she was from the Blue Pegasus guild, this being the only road in town getting here early and asking any of the passersby’s if they were from Blue Pegasus , this way he wouldn’t have to search the village for a person he had never met.
Though finding a stranger would have probably been the easy part of this job, after all Mishi had done many jobs before but none like this one this one was on a whole new level for him. This mission involved slaying Vulcans something he had experience with in the past but that had been one or two at a time never a huge group especially not an organized group, but that just made this job all the more important. Not only cause it would be the first true test of his magic and his master’s art but also because this village needed the help of him and his unknown partner not just to save their food but also to hopefully save the village itself.

"LOOK OUT BELOW" a voice shouted and from the sky dropped a figure with red hair and a black eyepatch over his left eye. He was going head first to the ground when suddenly he flipped round and landed in a crouch with a thud. He'd decided that he was here for a workout so instead of his usual black jacket with the ornamental white and silver markings he was wearing a red vest top. His Blue Pegasus tattoo, on his upper right arm, was clearly visible in back. He rose to his feet and stretched out yawning slightly. He extended his hand and a green orb seemed to float down from the sky onto it. "Well, that was fun Devon...now where's my partner for this mission?" he said to the orb and began to look about with his one blue eye. The other, as mentioned earlier, was covered by an eyepatch and his red hair was held up by a green bandana tied about his brow. The green orb seemed to fade in its glow revealing a small fairy sitting upon his hand. She was wearing a green and white dress and her wings were green and insect-like. The fairy shrugged and then flew onto his shoulder. "I wonder if they are even here yet. I am a bit early still."

Where had he dropped down from though? That was a big question on a lot of observer lips. Zack was a sky demon slayer and had the ability to fly as a passive ability of his magic. So he'd been flying here himself. He had other ways to get around, but he felt like flying today.

Well…that’s certainly something you don’t see every day a one eyed man falling from the sky who then begins to talk to a floating green orb that then turns into a tiny winged women. Either this was Mishi’s mission partner or the strangest villager to ever fall from the sky, deciding to place his bets on the former he decided to approach the man. Standing up from his tree he closed his tiny journal and placed it in the pocket of his vest before straightening his tie and hat as he always did only then did he begin to walk over to the strange man.
Oh please be the correct person and not some weirdo wanting to kill me Mishi prayed in his head. As Mishi walked over he gave a little wave as he tried to ask in a polite tone “excuse me, you wouldn’t happen to be the mage from Blue Pegasus would you?” As he said this and approached the strange mage Mishi stopped around 10 feet away from the man before taking a small bow “forgive me if I am wrong it is just that your entrance…gave me the feeling that you may be the mage that is to help me save the village.”

"Nah its a common thing for us townsfolk. We just love falling from the sky." Zack said and then chuckled before winking at Mishi and tapping the blue pegasus tattoo. "Yeah I'm the mage from blue pegasus. The name's Zack and this is Devon." he added as he pointed at the small green orb which one again faded to reveal the small fairy who waved before lighting up again. He began walking in the direction of their targets. He was here to test out his swordsmanship on multiple targets and an army of vulcans sounded like a plan, particularly as he'd heard some of them went armed. This was going to be fun. He'd already instructed Devon to stay out of the fighting. If she joined in then things would be too easy.

"Let's get going. I'm itching to test out my blades." this was perhaps an odd statement as Zack appeared to have no swords on him and this was true...for a given value of truth. It was true he did not physically have the swords on him, but he had access to them whenever he needed. He glanced over at his partner for this mission and focused on his eyepatch. It was a special eyepatch that if used properly allowed him to see a person's magical strength and potentially their magic. This man seemed to be about a D rank mage. Their aura he couldn't quite place, but it appeared to be inky. Perhaps an ink make mage or a pict mage? He hadn't seen them for a while. He was curious. Magic was something that always peaked his interest particularly when it was one he wasn't sure about or didn't recognise.

Mishi couldn’t help but chuckle at Zack’s sarcasm before introducing himself in turn, with a grab of his hat and a swing of the arm he took a full bow “I’m Mishi Gonyma of the Eclipse Soul guild pleasure to meet your acquaintance Zack, Devon.” Mishi stood back up following Zack who had begun to walk towards the village, there was no doubt that this mage was powerful the fact that he seemed to fly here on his own was proof enough of that. Not to mention the fact that he didn’t look in the least bit worried of the task at hand, an army of Vulcans wasn’t the hardest thing ever but that didn’t make it a walk in the park.
As they approached the town Zack said something that caught Mishi’s attention "Let's get going. I'm itching to test out my blades." Any idiot could tell that he didn’t have any swords at least on him at the moment, maybe he was an exquip mage, either way Mishi wasn’t one to judge after all you couldn’t see his blade either. It was at this point that he noticed Zack was staring at him with a look of…curiosity perhaps, either way Mishi decided that it’d be best to talk to him not just about that look but in general after all getting to know someone is how you ensure that you can work better together.
“Yeah, I get what you’re saying it has been forever since I got any real practice with my blade…Is there something wrong you seem to be looking at me with a rather puzzled face…”

So it seemed this man too had a blade that was not currently present. That suggested either an exquip(or requip if that was what you preffered to call them. Lots of people had different names for things. He wasn't going to judge), some sort of molding mage or perhaps some form of picture magic. Based on the aura he was inclined to guess at one of the latter too. He was familiar with requip mages and this aura, though weak so hard to define, was almost certainly not a requip unless it was a variant on the magic he wasn't aware of. It was always possible. The world contained an almost infinite number of possibilities so he never took things at first glance. Of course, he often never took things at all. If they were mundane or didn't peak his interest he was unlikely to remember them later. That was just the kind of guy that he was. However, it was his latter comment that caused Zack, whose mind normally worked exceptionally quickly, to pause slightly. He didn't want to reveal the eyepatch's ability. It was a useful item that he liked to keep secret. However, this man had noticed his look and thus made a comment. Zack would of made a mental note to be more careful next time, but again that wasn't in his nature.

"Sorry. Its just I haven't worked with many Eclipse soul mages. You just seem quite different to Kyll." Zack said. It was a plausible excuse and quite legitimate if not the truth of why he was staring. This man was very different to the only other member of eclipse soul he'd met. He'd heard they let anyone in particularly if they seemed close to going dark. It was supposed to be the guild that prevented that. This man didn't seem dark at all. Then again, one never could tell. "Normally there is some similarity, which is why you were drawn to the same guild, but you seem very different. Maybe Eclipse Soul is different...I'll have to go over to the mountains and check them out sometime."

Zack subconsciously began to pick up the pace a bit. He didn't like to walk at all if he could help it. He preferred to run or fly. Speed was part of his nature. "You dealt with large groups of enemies before? Or vulcans for that matter?" he asked. It was an important point when fighting to know what you were up against. Unless you were like Zack and honestly didn't care that much as long as it was fun and challenging. Zack's eyepatch wasn't to give him an advantage so he knew roughly what his opponent would do. No, instead it allowed him to subconsciously reign in his own strength to prolong combat and make it harder. It was more difficult to do as time went past as he was truly a powerful individual now.

“Ah I see” Mishi responded with a smirk “you’ve met Kyll before, she is a friend of mine, and as for me seeming different, that is probably because everyone joins our guild for different reasons, I’ve never been a dark mage, however I believe in second chances for them, still feel free to visit anytime.” Mishi smiled as he followed Zack who was beginning to gain speed, was he in a rush or something? Either way he was happy to be working with someone Kyll had worked with before, even if they seemed a little off at first glance though he wasn't entirely convinced he had been told the truth about the look he was more than happy to give someone who knew Kyll the benefit of the doubt.
As they got closer Zack spoke again "You dealt with large groups of enemies before? Or Vulcans for that matter?" Mishi thought about this for a moment before answering “ large groups yes, Vulcans a little, but large groups of Vulcans I must admit is something new to me.” There was only truth behind this he had fought many groups before but he had only have seen one or two Vulcans in his life.

Zack nodded. It was similar for him. He'd dealt with vulcans and he'd dealt with large groups, but not both of them at the same time. It would be an interesting experience. He was also quite interested in the fact that Mishi had never gone dark and was quite forgiving of dark mages. An interesting man for sure. Soon though the two of them, or three if you included Devon, arrived at the client's home. Without waiting Zack knocked quickly and began to tap his foot. He didn't like waiting at all. This was one of those times he wasn't happy about. Eventually the door was opened and before the man could speak Zack did.

"Hey there. I'm Zack and this is Mishi. We're here to deal with the vulcans." he said. The man looked frightened and began to shush him then he pointed.

"You fool. Why did you mention their names." he said and slammed the door. Zack sensed the presence nearby, but whirled round anyway lifting up his eyepatch to reveal the green orb beneath. Quickly he reached into the orb, literally into it, and pulled out a black long sword. This process was repeated, but instead he got a green longsword. These were his weapons of choice. He grinned and flicked the eyepatch down.

"Speak of the devils and they shall appear it seems. Oh well, that makes things easier. Time to play." A single vulcan was standing on the roof but with a bellow four more joined him. The original one on the roof seemed to be the strongest. Then there were two that appeared a bit younger and weaker than him and two that appeared to be kids. Unfortunately, they'd attacked in the town so Zack couldn't go all out. "Drive them away. We need to take this battle out of town. Kill them if you can."

'Monster Dice' :

Mishi stood behind Zack as the pair waited outside the clients home, he couldn’t help but internally chuckle at Zack’s impatience, eventually the door opened and the tapping stopped, replace with Zack’s voice, apparently not wanting to waste anytime standing around.
"Hey there. I'm Zack and this is Mishi. We're here to deal with the vulcans." Mishi began to bow as he was introduced but stopped as he noticed the look of fear that seemed to wash over the man, but before he could say anything the man spoke.
"You fool. Why did you mention their names." he said and slammed the door without another word being spoken.
Mishi was surprised as Zack suddenly whirled around, of course this was probably just a natural reaction to what happened what really caught him off guard is when Zack lifted up his eye patch, revealing a green orb. Suddenly Zack reached into the orb and pulled out 2 swords before flipping the eye patch back down. Well that’s something you don’t see every day Mishi thought to himself, not that he didn’t have his own weird storage… in a way.
"Speak of the devils and they shall appear it seems. Oh well, that makes things easier. Time to play." Mishi turned to see a single vulcan was standing on the roof but with a roar four more appeared. The one on the roof was definitely the biggest and strongest with the four new comers seeming younger and weaker, though they were of varying ages.
"Drive them away. We need to take this battle out of town. Kill them if you can." Mishi smirked at Zack’s words, “Heh I think I might have just the plan… well if you’re aims good that is.” Mishi held out both his arms “Living Art: Gentleman’s Blade” at his words the tattoo on his right wrist moved to his palm before springing to life, the large golden hilt of the rapier covering his hand. But he wasn’t done yet “Living Art Giant Armadillo, get ready to roll out” at these words a large 12 foot tall armadillo shot out from his left hand before curling up in a ball, “think you can hit the big one outta town with this? I’m sure the others will follow him, if you can not I can try something else” Mishi said with a sly grin.

Zack grinned at the idea and with a hefty throw threw both his sword high into the air above him before taking the armadillo. "Let's see how good aim I have." he said and took a deep breath just as he was about to throw. As he threw it he exhaled launching a ball of air at the armadillo thus increasing its speed even further. The throw speed was quite impressive, he was an A rank demon slayer after all. The blow was right on target and the speed was so great the large vulcan barely had a chance to block it. However, he did with both arms. Yet this block was not enough to save him from damage and he was sent flying backwards onto another roof, through its chimney. Zack grinned more broadly as he raised his arms and caught his swords. "Damn, only one. I was hoping to knock down all the pinheads."

The four remaining vulcans all charged at him in their anger. The first was from one of the weak vulcans and he didn't even attempt to block. The blow sent him flying backwards into a wall, but only left minor bruises. Strangely, these seemed to heal almost instantly and a faint aura began to form around his body. An aura that didn't feel good.

The second vulcan he dodged out of the way of by jumping over it and using it as a spring platform to avoid an attack from the third. Unfortunately, this put him right face to face with a tackle from the fourth sending him flying backwards into a wall. Zack merely smiled faintly and placed a finger on the vulcan's head, not letting go of his sword or even worrying about the damage at all. It was minor at best. These were blunt attacks from vulcans, not the strongest animals and this was from a child one. "You're infected." he whispered. The vulcan coughed and leapt back. It felt weary. "When I start healing, its not a good idea to touch me" he said loudly with that faint grin. There were three vulcan's behind him, and the child in front. Suddenly, he leapt to the side and the vulcan he had hit with the blow landed where he was standing with a thud. "I could smell you a mile away vulcan, even without the blood from your broken arms. Can't you at least make this a bit more fun?"

Mishi stood watching as Zack fought all of the Vulcans one against five yet acting as if it was not a problem at all, in fact he seemed like he was having fun.  This wasn’t the strangest thing Mishi had seen far from it he knew quite a few mages that enjoyed combat, however the strange thing was what had happened to the Vulcan that had touched Zack, it appeared to be pretty sick right now.  Mishi had heard him call the Vulan infected and said it was because that the beast had touched him when he was healing mental note never touch him when he is injured…maybe just never touch him better safe than sorry quickly jumping from his thoughts he realized that he had to act quickly especially if he didn’t want to be caught off guard in the middle of a battle.  Quickly holding up his right arm Mishi returned his armadillo to ink which flew to him twirling around his blade before returning to his flesh and vanishing up his sleeve.
Mishi began to walk to the battle playing out before him waiting for his moment to attack and catch all of the Vulcans off guard while at the same time leaving Zack out of harm’s way.  The chance presented itself when Zack jumped out of the group in order to taunt the largest Vulcan from earlier, Mishi’s left arm quickly shot up now was the perfect time Zack was far away enough and the Vulcans were bunched together but not very close he still had the perfect art for the job “Living Art: Steel-Saurus show these brutes your strength”.  With a Primal bellow a large T-rex made of steel standing 13 ft tall and 35 ft long ran forth from his arm charging directly at the group of Vulcans.
The large Dinosaur attempted to head-butt directly into the largest Vulcan viewing him as the easiest target due to his busted arms, however his one thing the steel didn’t anticipate was that the Vulcan’s legs worked just fine. The large Vulcan quickly jumped out of the way and onto a roof top most likely anticipating the dinosaurs next move, which was to quickly pivot and swing his tail at the remaining Vulcans sending one of the youngest ones flying backwards into a pile of crates most likely knocking him out. The other youngest was almost as unfortunate, while the older two quickly ducked under the large tail after seeing its effect on the young one, this little Vulcan stupidly tried to imitate the earlier block of the eldest. To Mishi’s surprise the block actually seemed rather effective though the noise made from impact and the small amount of blood lead him to believe that it wasn’t entirely.

With one of the vulcans down already, one of them ill and also heavily injuried and another heavily injured it seemed the battle was almost over. Zack however was enjoying himself. That was obvious from the big smile on his face and he had barely used any of his magic so far. He charged in at one of the middle power vulcans swinging a sword in a powerful horizantal slice. The vulcan had no choice but to try and block or dodge. Foolishly it tried to block with its arms, but Zack's blade was far too sharp for that and the arm came flying off. This vulcan was a bit smarter than he thought because it used the distraction of Zack cutting off its arm to leap backwards avoiding his second strike. Its brethren though, the ill vulcan, was not so smart. It tried the same thing, blocking with its arms and lost one to the first strike, and the other to the second. The second however also cut it in the chest finishing it off. It was then he decided to show off a little bit and through one of his sword's into the air and lunged at the strongest vulcan with the heavily damaged arms.

What was amazing about this was that he leapt from the ground straight at it swinging his black sword in a blur. "Death by slicing." Seven times the vulcan was cut in the space of about a second. The cuts were so quick they seemed to disturb the air leaving a heptagram. This heptagram was soon replicated on the vulcan in blood and it fell down dead. Zack leapt backwards off the roof and with skill caught his other sword before it hit the ground and turned to the remaining vulcans.

He moved over to the cut off arm and wiped his sword clean on the fur. "Much better. Can't have my swords getting rusty with blood. Now who is next?" The vulcans were terrified and began to run away. Zack smiled. It was as he had planned. A show of force would scare them off from the town.

"Quick, we need to follow them and that should lead us to the nest...get rid of that and the town should be safe."
