Chapter One: Intro
”Emergence”
It was like a painting. The hills rolled gently, awash in a sea of green grass and yellow flowers that bowed obediently in the wind. The sky above was at peace as plump and wispy clouds alike glided across the vast blue expanse. It was truly a wonder to behold. Though one could easily attest that nature provides the highest caliber when it comes to objects of beauty, this scene of splendor was rivaled or even surpassed by the woman walking in the midst of this mosaic of grandeur.
The winds of the day sent the woman’s high ponytail fluttering along in the breeze as she took her leisurely time coming along the road. Her fair, lightly tanned skin almost glowed in the radiant sunlight while her keen blue eyes trailed along the perfect imperfections that Mother Nature had sprawled out before her. She wore dark form-fitting jeans that hugged her in all the right places (at least that is what she believed) along with a cropped white jacket and a black-and-white striped t-shirt. The woman didn't necessarily care for how she looked in her outfit, but it brought back certain memories that made her heart warm. A time when things certainly didn’t make sense, but things were happier, more fulfilling, more fun… But that time seemed to be over.
The woman wrapped her arms around herself as she continued onward. As usual, just thinking about him sent her on a emotional roller coaster. She felt somewhat prissy for letting herself get so close to him in the first place, but another part of her wishes she could go back and do it all over again. She missed and loved him but hated him for leaving her. One day he was there and the next, she woke up to find him gone. She was angry at him, though he did send her letters ever so often, she was so hurt that she never bothered reading them. They were all sitting on a pile on her dresser. How could she bring herself to read them? It would only remind her of him and extend the pain in her heart that she had to bear. It was a sorry situation, indeed.
The woman stopped for a moment as a cold breeze washed over her skin, causing her to shiver a bit. She sighed gently and reached up to push aside one of her bangs that had drifted into her line of sight. Her eyes slid back up to the river of flowers before her that was dancing in tune with the wind. In that moment, Serene D’loro made a decision. She would not be like these flowers.
She will bend for no one but herself.
