Catch that bat! Dragofox and Hikari Shirokawa

Naruto walked along the path leading to the remarkable Spooky Forest, known for its obvious creepiness. There was no sound of birds chirping to start with, and the trees made it impossible for the sunlight to reach the ground, thus creating the dark background of the forest. “Geez.. What were you thinking, boy? Messing around with your headmaster and stuff..” Naruto complained, his hands on the back of his head, resting it by leaning against his hands. Naruto sighed, as the boy walking in front of him turned to the blue eyed mage, showing a much annoyed expression on his face. "Shut up." The short unrelated reply surprised Naruto for a brief moment, not thinking that a boy that age could be that rude. “Well.. That explains your mischievous acts.” Naruto commented in a rather low voice, but the boy turned around again, prompting Naruto to act like he said nothing, whistling as he walked.

As they reached the seemingly entrance to the Spooky Forest, Naruto and the boy found a sign, lying on the grass filled ground. The rust on it proved that it ages more than 10 years. “So, what does it say?” Naruto asked, as the boy picked it up to read. “I can’t read it.” The boy, frustrated, threw the sign towards the woods, the two watching as the rusty piece of metal disappeared into the darkness of the woods. “Well, anyways, we have to wait for someone else before we start finding that bat. Or whatever it is.” Naruto sat on the ground, resting by his hands as he took deep relaxed breaths. The boy, however, looked scared, but he tried hiding it with the arrogant look on his face. But of course, Naruto could see through him.

Hika squinted down at the guild request board and scanned through the missions quickly. She, then, tore one of them from the board and walked out casually from the guild. Holding the paper tightly in her hands, she read the information written on the paper as she plugged her earphones and scuttled her way towards the job location, which was the Spooky Forest. Within a few minutes later, Hika eventually arrived to the forest and from the first sight, she disliked the place. The forest was gloomy and overcasted; not even a single ray of light can be seen. She pulled a long face. Why in the world did I choose this mission? A wave of regret suddenly rushed through her body.

There, at the corner of her eyes, she caught sight of a boy and an orange-haired fellow. She could tell that he was a mage from the look of it. She lifted her eyebrows and proceeded to pace towards them. "Hey there. I bet you're here for the mission too," Hika glanced at the young mage as she held up the paper and pointed at it. She turned to look at the boy. "And you're here to retrieve the pet, I suppose,"

Naruto sat on the ground, taking deep breaths of relaxation as the two waited for one more mage to show up. “So, we’re waiting for someone?” The boy asked after keeping quiet before, looking annoyed, but actually scared. “Well, we do need extra help, you know? So it’s better to wait.” Naruto paused, looking at the boy. “Or, don’t tell me you actually want to go look for that thing alone in the woods, eh??” Taunting the boy, Naruto stood up, trying to scare the boy along. Naruto patted the dust of debris on his trousers, looking around after. “Hm.. So, you sure it went from there?” Naruto pointed to the exact location he was looking at, and the boy nodded silently as a short, simple reply.

It was not long after he last talked, when suddenly noises of steps on the grass could be heard. “Now who..” Naruto looked around, the boy following. His partner was a female after all, slightly attractive, with a pair of earphones on her ears. “Ah yes, you can say so.” Naruto scratched his head, smiling warmly. “Tch, nice. Now a girl showed up.” The boy frowned, crossing his arms on his chest as he spoke. “Man, that was rude. I mean, she’s here to help you know?” Naruto nudged the boy on his arms, slightly showing hints that he wanted the boy to apologize. “Anyway, my name’s Naruto. Tamao Naruto. Nice to meet you, miss..??” Naruto paused, waiting for his partner to react to his warm greet.

Hika lifted her eyebrows at the kid who was snarling at her. A rude one, indeed, She frowned. She finally took off her earphones and stuffed them in her pocket as she watched the orange fellow introduced himself at Tamao Naruto. ”Ditto. I’m Hikari Shirokawa. Pleasure to meet you too,” She might sound rude but she’s just trying to be friendly. Yep, that’s her way. Warning, first meeting with Hikari is going to be awkward. ”From what I heard, you said that the bat went into …. that place,” She wriggled her pale fingers and pointed at the dull and dense forest. Hika clasped her hands together in excitement. ”Well, let’s get going then. Chop chop!”

Hika skipped towards the forest, though she was quite reluctant to go in there. Man. This ‘chicken’ side of mine, She cursed mentally and tiptoed her way into the woods. There was no light. Pitch-black. And there weren’t any sound of birds or the rustling of the leaves. Seriously. Is this forest dead? It’d be no surprise if she drop dead at the spot if someone tried to scare the hell out of her. She took out a small torch she had brought, in case, she needed it. Well yeah, she definitely needed it this time. Switching on the torch open with her shaky hands, she shone the dim light down her path. Hika turned around to see if the kid and Naruto were behind her. Abruptly, she stopped her tracks and waited for them to catch up with her. ”Damn. I should have let Naruto to enter the woods first and then I’d have followed him,” She whispered to herself, mentally facepalming.

The lady took off her earphones, putting them inside her pocket. She looked rowdy in a sense, but Naruto was sure she wasn’t too bad herself, looking from her looks that is. Naruto nodded, smiling as she replied his earlier introduction with another from her. “Hikari.. Shirokawa.” Naruto carved that name into his head, it was a nice name after all. The kid snorted, the arrogance on his face not fading. Hikari went in the forest first all by herself, and the two males decided to follow shortly after. She took the lead, so Naruto took the chance while walking with the boy to know him better. “So, kid, whatcha name?” Asking in a slight friendly tone, Naruto hoped the boy would give him a proper reply.

“The name’s Damien. And don’t call me kid.” He answered with an obvious arrogance in his voice. “Man, you sure are a snort.” Naruto concluded, deciding to keep it to himself however. It was not long before the kid gave a nudge on his waist. “What is it?” “That girl, she looks scared. Go and take the lead!” the boy whispered, somehow giving Naruto a command. “Geez. Fine, fine.” Scratching his head, Naruto walked faster, catching up to the waiting Hikari. “Uh, mind if I take the lead?” Naruto asked her in a polite tone, reaching over her to ask for the torch she was holding. “May I?” Naruto asked, with an honest smile on his face. He surely wouldn’t want someone scared to lead the three, as nothing good will happen from such leader.

“Uh, mind if I take the lead?”

Hika spinned around to see Naruto kindly offering to help her. ”Um, sure,” She blinked as she handed him the torch. Thank goodness. She couldn’t help but be so grateful to him. Letting out a sigh of relief, they continued walking in silence for a few minutes. The thick mist was dimming her vision completely that she couldn’t even see what’s right in front of her. Wait. The kid. She stretched out her arms and flapped her hands, trying to search the kid as if she’s really blind. Suddenly, there was a slapping sound. Crap. Hika froze on the spot when she realized that she had hit someone. Seconds later. No response. A few more seconds later. “OW! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?” She jerked straight up when the kid yelled in her face. ”Sorry. It was an accident,” She mumbled. Hey, I was just being worried, you mischievous kid! Her lips pursed. This was all because of the mist.  

The place was indeed scary. It was as silent as a graveyard except for the sound of their footsteps on the broken branches and dry leaves. Hika continued to scamper along while she rummaged for a candy in her pocket. Her face cringed as she did so, finally snatching out a lollipop. She smirked as she handed the boy the lollipop though it was her favorite one. She watched him gazing it from the corner of his eyes. Of course, she knew that he was resisting from his desire to take it and Hika was trying her best not to burst out laughing. ”Oh, come on, just take it,” Flashing a smile at him, the kid yanked the lollipop from her hands, a slight blush rising up his cheeks. Hika chuckled as she shoved another lollipop in Naruto’s direction. ”Want some?” Well, eating lollipops in a dark creepy forest is actually a nice thing, isn’t it?

Naruto took the lead, and as the three walked, it was silent. Not even one of them bothered to start off a topic to talk about, nor did anyone bothered to even simply hum. Starting to shake a little as the dark background, misty surrounding and the creepy silent bothered him, Naruto started to take his steps slower, each step interspersed by a nervous breath. The steps he took were really starting to get slower by each passing second, and as he started to shiver, a noise coming from the other two behind him could be suddenly heard. “Geez, you two.. causing a ruckus..” Naruto turned around, chuckling at the little argument Damien and Hikari had. Maybe she wanted to make sure he was still tagging along, and in the process did something that annoyed the boy unintentionally.

Shrugging, Naruto took his steps a bit faster now, a sigh of relief coming from him after the somehow funny moment the two had earlier. Hikari offered the boy something, which he took for sure, before offering Naruto next. She held it towards him, his eyes catching it clear of what she was holding with her hands. “A.. Lolipop?” Naruto stopped walking, slowly taking it away from her. “Oh. Thanks.” With a smile, Naruto kept the lollipop in his small pouch by his hips, not intending to have it in his mouth. Yet. Naruto thought it would be an easy walk after this, but a couple of howling could be heard shortly after, raising his alert. “Careful. Wolves.” Naruto looked around with the two behind him, hoping they would keep their guards up. Realizing it won’t be a good idea to face wolves in such situation, Naruto held the two by their hands, dragging them along as he ran away from the area. “Ain’t a safe walk in the park no more.” Naruto commented, wishing the two could simply comply.

'Monster Dice' :

Beaming up at Naruto, she handed over the lollipop to him. Later after that, he mentioned to be careful of wolves .... Did he just said wolves? Time to be serious. Her eyes flicked here and there around the forest, checking for any signs of animals. Just as she did so, she heard more howling of the wolves and the sound was approaching them. Closer and closer. She slowed her steps, trying to be more aware of the surroundings. Growls were heard, as they grew louder and harsher. She stole a glance at Naruto and the kid, who looked just a little freaked out where Naruto looked solemn yet relaxed. For a brief moment, she could somehow feel eyes on her back that made her hair stood on its’ end. Turning around slowly, her lips parted slightly as the bright red eyes stared right into hers. Crap. The wolves are here.

They didn’t actually do anything to grab the attention of the animal, or maybe, was it because of the silly argument they had? Just as she was trying to figure out how to get rid of them, the kid threw a stone at them. The wolves seem like they’re on edge, they growled as they snarled at the three of them. ”Oi. Kid. What’re you doing? You want us to die?” She gave an angry look at him and stretched out her right hand. ”Iron Rock Fist,” She whispered to herself. The ground began shook slightly. A rocky fist emerged from the ground and sped towards the wolf. The wolf smirked in an ‘animal-like’ way when the fist brushed past him. She bit her lip in frustration just after she realized that she’d missed the attack. It then charged at her, attempting to dig its’ claws on her but failed to do so.

Naruto had some annoying doubts about facing the wolves heads on, but Hikari sure didn’t have time to think about their current situation. The blonde male thought it was better to retreat from the wolves at the time being, and so had planned to flee from the close encountering. Unfortunately for the three, Naruto’s plan won’t be able to save them, as Damien foiled his plan by provokingly throwing a rock towards the red pair of eyes that were obviously watching them from the bushes. Hikari scolded him, asking whether he was intending to kill the three, but from his frightened eyes, Naruto knew all Damien wanted to do was scare the wolves away, not expecting that it would fail. And with the guess Naruto didn’t intend to blame him for anything, stepping up to take full responsibility for whatever would happen to the three next.

A wolf came out rushing towards Hikari with an intention to bite the lady, but failed somehow. Naruto didn’t catch what happened between the first wolf and the two companions of his, as he was too focused on the other pair of red eyes watching them from the bushes that were behind them. “Damn..” Naruto turned to the first wolf, throwing three sharp edged needle-like senbon towards it, randomly aiming on it. The two senbon missed their target, but the third reached the wolf, stabbing on its left hinder leg. The wolf grunted in pain, backing away from Hikari as it did.

The other wolf thought it would be a golden chance for it to attack, and so it did. The wolf rushed towards the unsuspecting Damien, and like the first wolf, with an intention to bite the boy. Not knowing, Damien turned around, and he could only shout, too shocked to do anything. Naruto didn’t want the boy to get hurt, and so had jumped in time to let the bite land on his arm instead. “Urgh!” Naruto let out a small grunt, the stinging pain on his arms caused by the sharp fangs of the wolf. Blood made its way through the wound, and had wet Naruto’s sleeve with itself. As a quick respond, Naruto kicked the wolf on its belly, but it was fast too, and had backed away quicker than how the kick would be able to land on it. Looking at the two wolves, Naruto switched his attention now and then, ready for anything that might come next. "Stay on your guards!"

Hika was so distracted with the wolf that she didn’t realize Naruto took a hit on his arm for Damien. ”Oi. Are you okay?” She turned around to face Naruto. His sleeve was soaked with blood. ”Holy mackerel,” Cursing under her breath, she reached for a small handkerchief she’d always carry and tied it around his arm, not bothering if he wanted it or not. ”Hope this’ll make you feel better,” Her brows furrowed as she concentrated on how she should attack them. The wolf began charging towards her as she dodged it skillfully. She watched the wolf landed on top of the other wolf as she searched for a dry branch on the ground. This time, again, the wolf leaped at her but missed. Hika scrambled up to the ground and rushed towards the wolf and swat the branch right off its’ face, though it epically failed. The wolf snatched the branch from her hands, broke it with its’ sharp teeth and gnarled at her.

Hika stepped back immediately so as not to let the wolf bite her. ”Be careful, guys.” Hika said.
The wolves were pretty more dangerous than she had expected. Man, they’re such a pain in the arse, She grunted. Running away would be useless. They’d still be chasing them anyway. Seems like they have no choice but to kill them off. Hika jumped slightly into the air and spun around a couple of times, roundhouse kicking the wolf in the face. The wolf bent down its’ head and scurried backwards, dodging the attack.

Naruto got his hand bleeding, taking the hit for Damien was something not so regrettable, but the pain stayed the same anyway. Sighing, Naruto took a good look on his wound, the red of the blood staining his ripped off sleeve. “Damn..” Naruto looked at the wolves, then after a few blinks of the eye, and after some grunting from him, Hikari had his wound bandaged. “Thanks.” Gritting his teeth against the pain, Naruto looked at the wolves, now irritated. “Heh.. Come at me bro!” Naruto provoked the wolves, one of them charging towards him not long after. He smirked, the wolf’s first claw slash missed the target. Quickly taking out his two kunai, Naruto defended himself against the second slash, then used the other one to block the bite coming from the wolf’s mouth.

With the other kunai free, Naruto stabbed the wolf on its eye, causing it great pain as it roared. It was loud, and had somehow hurt his ears. “Damn you’re loud!” Naruto swung his other hand, planting his last kunai on the wolf’s neck, deep enough to cause blood gushing out of the creature’s neck. It backed away in pain, seemingly back to the alpha’s side. But it wasn’t long before the wound it had from the two kunai stabs caused excessive loss of blood. It slowly lowered its body reaching the ground, closing its eyes as it died rather painfully. The alpha looked at the three humans, the anger in its eye obvious. “Heh, angry, are we?”

A loud roar filled the forest when Naruto stabbed his kunai right into the wolf’s eyes. Pretty creepy. Hika stared down at the dying wolf, closed her eyes and shook her head slightly with sympathy. One down, one more to go, She smirked. Picking up a rather big stone, she forced her arm back and threw it into the remaining wolf’s direction. The stone missed the target and brushed right past its ears. The wolf surged as she jumped back, did a back flip and used her hands to push off the ground. Rushing towards a tree, she swung her right foot and side kick the tree to break it off. Thank goodness, she didn’t break her leg. Though the pain was unbearable, she somehow managed to break the tree off. Her leg throbbed as she bit her lip to prevent from crying out in agony.

Hika hopped backwards on one leg and she watched the tree fell down between the wolf and the three of them, completely separating them apart. Silence conquered the area for a couple of minutes. There wasn’t any response from the other side of the tree. She blinked, glanced at the two and finally said, ”Run? Yeah, let’s run,” She grabbed Damien by the arm, who looked utterly confused and forced her legs to take huge strides down the gloomy passage, though her leg burned in pain whenever she did so. Convinced that Naruto would be behind her, she kept on pacing with Damien being carried in her arms beside her waist. Now, what kind of horror will await her this time?

Hikari went and got her turn. She did amaze Naruto by the moves, the swift actions and stuffs. Naruto decided to only watch, looking there and here for any dangers that may be lurking around, ready to ambush the three. The pain on his arms throbbed now and then, causing him to grunt, sometimes gritting his teeth to prevent the pain from distracting him. It was no situation that they can call safe, and as Hikari pulled some good tricks, a few blinks after and Naruto could found the three of them separated from the alpha wolf. “Good thinking. The alpha may call upon reinforcements, and that would cause problems to us.” Naruto said, leaping away as Hikari ran along with Damien tagging along.

She looked worried and all, grabbing Damien’s arm and dragging him along the run. He looked utterly confused, not knowing anything about what the two mages were doing. “What the..?? Why did we run!? There’s only one of them left, we could-“ “No. We can’t.” Naruto cut Damien’s complain short, watching the three’s back as he ran. “As I said, that wolf was the alpha. Things wouldn’t get easy if it was to call for help.” Naruto sighed, he wanted to finish that wolf too. But considering the situation he was in, Naruto decided not to act selfish, making the other two’s lives his main priority in this job. It didn’t matter if they didn’t get the owl back safely, what matters most is the two’s lives. Naruto nodded in agreement to himself, running along as he had the thought.

”Well, the wolf might probably call reinforcements but we will get rid of them somehow,” Hika insisted, still dragging Damien along from behind. She poked his head hard, ”And you, little kid. Shhh. We’ll get your bat safely out of this forest.” Receiving a pout and a glare from Damien, Hika just laughed. But, man. Damn my leg. Why in the world did I use that method to escape, anyway? She thought as she slowed down her pace, trying not to put too much pressure on her leg. Her sneakers screeched and she almost ran into a tree when the bats came squeaking towards them. ”Geez. You guys are so noisy,” She groaned at their high-pitched weird sounds, hugging Damien tightly against her so that the bats won’t annoy him. She flapped her hands above her, somewhat looking like a maniac and shone her torchlight above her head and right into the bats’ faces to scare them away. She didn’t want to kill the poor bats since they weren’t that harmful.

Hika blew the bangs off her face, irritated. Then, she heard a growl and a harsh breathing on her neck. As frightened as she was, she held her breath for as long as she can remember, unable to do anything. The wolf from before minced towards them, emerging from the shadows. She spun around and then, it struck her. The huge grey creature was hissing down at them before her eyes. Oh, how lovely. Hika thought, sarcastically. She gulped and stumbled backwards, beads of sweat forming on her face. She took a glance at Naruto, ”Uhh. What do we do now? Do we run again?”

'Monster Dice' :

Naruto and his two partners continued the run, rushing away from the area they had encountered the wolf as fast as they could. Damien, however went on with his confusion, only to end up pouting at the apparent outcome. Slightly panicking, Naruto kept looking after their backs, worrying the chances that the alpha wolf was following. It would be an even nastier situation if it was to follow the three with reinforcements. More wolves means more danger, especially the fact that Damien did not know how to fight, let alone how to use magic. He was a kid after all, and it was the two mages’ priority to take full care of him, making sure he get out of the forest in one piece.

“Just run, Damien.” Naruto commanded, causing him to pout even more. Naruto however did not take note of his childish pout, as he needed to make sure the three is now safe. Stopping at a point, Naruto could not help but to watch as the alpha popped out again, now panting as it followed them. Without replying anything to Hikari’s question, Naruto dashed towards the creature, giving it a slice with his kunai, only to miss. The next kick he sent missed too, much to his disappointment. But he found an opening on the wolf, stabbing it right on its neck as it turned away for a brief moment. He tried kicking it again, but missed due to the random staggering it had.

The wolf, angry, dashed towards the blonde mage, the bite it tried sending failed. It then leapt forward for a slash, again missing its target. Finally, the wolf itself found an opening on Naruto just like he did, and gave it a slash right on the same place where he got bit earlier. “Argh!!” Naruto held the alpha in place, giving Hikari a chance to counterattack. “Now!”

Hika arched an eyebrow and just shrugged when she got back no response. Well, attack then, She took up a stance with her feet slightly apart, ready to beat the crap out of those wild creatures. In no time, Naruto had already stabbed the wolf in its’ neck. She huffed as she closed her eyes and stretched out her arms, the wind billowing out her silver hair. ”Rock Avalanche,” She whispered to herself. The stones and rocks of different sizes from nearby area gathered up in front of her as two massive boulders. As soon as she pinged her eyes open, the boulders surged their way into the wolf’s direction and slammed right into its face and squished the wolf between the rocks, crushing its bones instantly. She watched the wolf whimpered as it dropped down on the ground weakly and slowly died after. Averting her eyes away from the scene, she felt sorry for the poor wolf though she killed it with her own hands.

Now, all that left was the demon who seemed kinda pissed off for ignoring him through the process. Hika looked up at him, the two boulders still hovering around her. The wind gushed around her as she summoned another two more huge boulders. Four of them started charging towards the demon, all of them striking him at the same time. The demon puffed and flared his nostrils at her, letting out fumes. The demon swooshed into thin air and left Hika with her mouth open. Suddenly, the apparition appeared right beside her, attempting to strangle her. Hika rapidly ducked and flipped backwards, trying to stay away from the monster.
