Found your ring! [mission D]

The Job:

”All aboard!” The train’s bell rang a few times signaling that people needed to go ahead and board the train. Faust had found himself sitting outside the train station in Peace Village. He had grown very bored of the town and its uninteresting people. They were all plain, nothing magical or interesting about them he had not had one exciting adventure since coming to the town. There was nothing special about it or its people. He grabbed his bags and walked over to the train platform and boarded. He had prepared himself for a long and boring train ride, he had several stops before he would reach Oak and he was just stopping there for a few hours to stretch and site see. The train was rather empty today, only a few people were on it with Faust. The people that were on the train with him this morning was an elderly couple, a young mother and her son, and a group of teenagers. Faust put his head phones in and readied himself for the ride.

The train would not take off for a few minutes after everybody boarded, they had to make sure that everybody had indeed paid to be on this train. As the conductor came through the isles Faust reached into his pocket and pulled out the crumbled up ticket stub that he had. The man took the stub, snipped it and gave back to Faust. After that Faust went back to listening to his music, he begun tapping his feet and his hands to the sound of the melody. He hummed in a low tone, trying to keep to himself all the while he watched the people before him. The elderly couple seemed content just staring there not saying a word, due to his slayer hearing he could still pick up on conversations and other sounds around him even over the music. The two seemed happy with just each other’s company, they slightly held each other’s hand’s rubbing them both with smiles on their faces. Faust wondered if his father ever had any romantic intentions towards his mother or if they were all for pure necessity

The young woman and her son were talking to each other constantly. The boy was probably around the age of six or seven, while the mother was in her late twenties early thirties. Faust slightly listened to their conversation. “Mom when we get to Magnolia can we please go to the market I really want to chocolate candy balls.” The boy was tugging his mother’s hand and from the sound in his voice was most likely giving his mother a guilt trip with his face. The mother’s heart beat slightly picked up, a small flutter. She quickly answered the boy in a sweet tone that only a mother could manage to do. “Sweetie we need to go let out Zeek to use the rest room, you know he has been cooped up all day. We can go tomorrow if we have the time.” Instantly Faust could hear the change in the boy’s breathing and heartbeat. In a more pathetic voice, almost like a whimper the boy responded to the mother.

“B-b-but mom, I thought you said we could go toady if we got back before sundown. Pleaseeee mom please. It will only take a few minutes and then we can go home and let Zeek out, I swear if he made a mess I will clean it up.” The mother chuckled at the boy’s response. “We will see sweetie, maybe we will get home early and swing by there but remember we might not have time okay.” The child quickly let out a squeak of glee and excitement. He obiviosully was thinking that he would indeed be able to go to his sweet shop. He very well might Magnolia was the stop before Oak and the one after this current one, Hargeon. They were nearing the port town, maybe fifteen twenty minutes away. Faust was just hoping to get to Oak before the sun was beginning to set, he wanted to get checked into a hotel before all the rooms would be booked up.

The train came to a screeching halt when it approached Hargeon, as it begun to slow down the group of teenagers stood up and begun moving towards the exit of the train. They might have been Lamia Scale mages or just regular teenagers going to a city. After they exited and the train picked up a few new people they were off again heading towards Magnolia now. The new people that entered the train seemed like decent folks as well, a young woman and her boyfriend, they sat somewhat near the elderly couple, and mimicked some of their traits. Each couple passed glances at the other. One couple seeing a possible future of themselves, while the other looked into the past at their former selves. The other person that entered the train was a rather large man, he looked like he had only fat composing his body with no muscles. He had sat near the front of the train far from the others, Faust could not even see the man’s face due to the angle he was facing.

The trip from Hargeon to Magnolia was a short trip and would not take too long but it was still a waste of time for the Ice Demon, he wished he had some form of magic that allowed him to instantly transport to where ever he wants, but wait he did have that magic, it was just not strong enough to go that far and may never be able to go that far. Train was still the fastest way around if you were not trying to break the bank which was one of the reasons why Faust was currently on one. The train was trucking at a nice high speed, they were moving along the coast by Hargeon quickly leaving it behind them for the more forest scenery. That meant they were at least halfway to Magnolia by now and would soon be at Oak and the sun was still fairly high in the sky. The tug of the drain slowing down signaled that they were approaching the town, soon the little boy and his mother would be gone and who knows who else would be entering and leaving this journey.

As the left the station after people got off and on the train was left with four people: The young couple, Faust, and the fat man. The elderly couple must have got off in Magnolia. The train was back at top speed and was already nearing the town of Oak. Faust was quiet pleased with this train’s punctuality. He saw the hill town up ahead in the distance. The train slowed down once more and approached Oak town. As he exited the train so did the young couple. He wondered down the nearest street until a random woman came up to Faust. ”Hello sir have you seen my ring? I can’t seem to find it and it is worth so much to me. Can you please help me?” Faust shrugged. ”If I see it I will let you know I guess.” He started to walk away from the girl when a sparkle caught his eye. He bent down and picked up a ring, the luck. He turned around and yelled for the woman to come back. She took the ring with excitement and gave Faust a small reward and went off on her way leaving him standing there in Oak town.
