Clementine rode on the back of Stygil,  having taken the form of a great shark she road it all the way from the Calm Sea where she delivered her last payload.

But that was only stage one.  Her plan required the placement of several such payloads.  The second of which...   As she recalled,   was in the closest sea.  The Graveyard Sea.   One of the more dangerous seas as clementine recalled.

She didn't pay too much attention,  but as with any "Graveyard Sea" Clementine expected many natural phenomena like gas reserves,   areas of strange water density,   or abnormal creatures.

She didn't get far into the Graveyard Sea when she encountered the first strange creature.   A swarm of small sharks with literal razor fins and bladed heads.   Small meaning in comparison to the behemoth of a shark Clementine rode.

These sharks were only two to three meters in length,   and Stygil bloodied the water with their corpses.   His mouth bloodied from their edges,  but it was negligible.

Clementine herself killed many of them herself with blasts from her arm cannon,  the directed radiation bursts not being too hindered by the water.

It was regrettable that she hadn't any electrical energy to expend.  A good thunderbolt cannon would do wonders under the seas.   She had captured lightning in the past,   but in the few thousand years traveling to this world...  the radiation was long faded.

She'd have to run into a good lightning mage someday.  On an arcane world such as this,  surely there were a few good mages of electricity to run into.

Continuing on their way,   Clementine and her partner easily carved a bloody path through the soggy monsters that opposed them and eventually found their way to about a central position in the middle of the sea.

A good current was nearby,   making it as good a spot as any to set up shop.    Clementine reached into the folds of her protected dress and pulled out an iron ball an inch or so big,  feeling it's studded form she pressed one of the studs down and tossed it through the waters.

The ball expanded,  becoming a large chamber.   The sound of it's expansion carried through the water and as she approached the pod a large shape approached in the distance.

Clementine could make it out just fine,  it was a great whale.

A bigass,  great whale.    Clementine hadn't seen anything like it before.  But the whale was at least five hundred meters long and would easily swallow Clementine,  the pod,   and even Stygil whole.

It's body seemed to be plated with heavy insect like shells,  and it's body looked somewhat segmented and elongated,  but still a thick whale shape.      It had six great fins that beat at the water in succession,    with it's great finned tail swishing along behind it.   I had a great mouth of long spear like teeth that grew as thick as grass in that mouth of its.

Rogue teeth could even be seen spearing through it's mouth out at odd angles.   Adding to that effect were many spikes along it's joints,  going down it's spine,  crowning it's head,  and studding it's fins.

    Well shit.

She'd just expanded her pod,  she couldn't retrieve it.    She wasn't about to waste one of her pods.

As the beast approached,  Clementine crouched on top of the pod,  supporting herself with her feet as she leveled her cannon at the approaching creature.

Bright light collected and grew at the end of her cannon,   an expanding ball of light gathering itself there heating the water around it up causing bubbles of steam to swarm up and away.

She had a clear shot,  a beam of radiation filled the length between her and the creature.  It grew in size,   distorting the water along it's path preparing the way...

And with a great flash of light a surging beam of nuclear energy tore through the sea waters and impaled the beast squarely in it's head.

The cannon's highly penetrative power broke through it's armor and left a great smouldering hole of boiling whale fat and mass blood.   A few moments later the side of it's head exploded in a shower of gore.

The whale roiled in the water,  releasing a loud cry as it went belly-up.

But something was odd.   The explosion and beam did a lot of damage,  but it was all on one side.   Like it was well contained.

The creature's layered skull had defended it well,   it's brain suffered heavy damage and it may well be retarded now,   especially with the pounding levels of radiation.   But the whale had resisted a killing blow.

The creature slowly rolled upright,  sluggish and very dazed.  Disoriented.   The whale slowly built up speed and charged Clementine in a rage.

< I think you pissed it off > Stygil said needlessly.

< I think that's quite obvious,  thanks > Clementine said sarcastically.   But that's alright...  I got this...   Clementine flared nuclear radiation,   a few cracks appearing in her body from which energy surged through,  boiling the water around her.

With a burst,   Clementine shot forward like a torpedo through the water, aiming high.    As Clementine and the whale neared,   the whale drifted up,  it's great maw open wide.   At the last second,  a second crack and a great flick of energy catapulted clementine vertically and out of it's mouth.

And right into the meaty crater Clementine had carved in the side of it's head.   She dug in with her hand and against the surface of the beast's exposed and very damaged skull she leveled her cannon and with a punching motion she forced the cannon in through a large crack in the bone,   fracturing it a little more around the crack but it was very broken already.. even so Clementine could only wedge the cannon in a small portion,  just the tip.

That was good enough for her.   With a flash of light and a surge of energy,  a beam of energy crushed the bone beneath her and dug into the whale's head.  Blood and bone fragments filled the air around her as her beam tore into the beast's brain.

The great whale shuddered in pain for a second before growing silent and unmoving.

< I'm suddenly uncomfortable in this form > Stygil said,  noting his large shark body.   Not comparable to the massive whale,  but still in the category of "Large fking fish".

With a sigh,  Clementine swam back to the pod.

< Lets finish this up, shall we? > To hell with this sea.     Getting in her pod and sealing the hatch behind her,  she created two balls of light in her hands and slammed them together.     The pod was flooded with sky high levels of radiation and her job was done.    The seawater around the pod  was contaminated,   and in the flow of the ocean it spread.   Eventually,  later down the road,  it's effects would be felt everywhere in this sea.

    Time to move on.
