Personality: Originally from the Eastern Continent, Akio left his home country as a teen to escape his current life. He had been born the nephew of the leader of a local crime syndicate, but only saw his family’s activities as a perversion of the law. They saw themselves as the descendants of the country’s noble warriors of the past, retaining a family sword style and seeing themselves as above the law.

He was raised to serve the syndicate as a future officer, and seeing the way the family bribed and bullied law enforcement into submission only furthered his beliefs that what they were doing was wrong. Every day innocents were hurt, and he could do nothing but look on lest he receive the family’s loving “discipline.” Even though they claimed to serve the people all they really cared about was money and power, and anyone that undermined this was severely punished. Related by blood or no.

Once he was old enough to take the family’s vow of service, he knew it was time to leave. So the night before the ceremony, he left taking only his swords and the skills he had learned with him. Crossing the ocean he arrived in Pergrande. There he became enamored with their sense of order, seeing the oppressive laws as necessary to keep crime families like his own from surfacing.

Joining their military academy, he found himself talented in combat arts. Being granted citizenship through his service, Akio now dedicates himself to the Imperial rule and seeing it spread across the world. He sees his part in the war, and the lives he takes, as for the greater good. Only when the world is united under the banner of the Empire will its people truly know peace. Until then he will continue to fight on.

Likes:

• Orders are his obsession. Laws are meant to be followed, no matter how cruel. It is not his place to set them, only to follow them.
  
• Sword training, despite being forced to learn as part of the Kahoshi family he finds the meditative state of sword training to be when he’s most relaxed.
  
• Reading is his other favorite pastime, as a good leader requires knowledge and wisdom. Wisdom comes with experience, while knowledge comes from books.
  

Dislikes:

• Insurgents, or any other kind of rebellion within Imperial owned territory. Those that rebel against the lawful government must be put down.
  
• Coffee, despite its popularity in Ishgar he never acquired a taste for it. He does not like bitter flavors in general.
  
• Unkempt appearances drive Akio crazy, as it is just disorder on a personal level. He does not accept it from those under his command, and looks down on anyone he meets that does not care about their appearance.
  

Motivations:

• Uniting the continent is his ultimate goal, to bring peace and stability to everyone that lives in Ishgar.
  
• Bringing law to his home is his next biggest goal. He hopes that once the war is won, his new homeland can bring peace to the land of his birth. That this would require destroying his own family does not bother him.
  
• Rising through the ranks of the Empire is his final main motivation. Not because he cares about power, but because he has convinced himself he can contribute more the higher he rises.
  

Fears:

• The fall of Order, or rather the Empire that enacts it. Without the strong laws of the Empire, chaos remains.
  
• Hurting his sister, who he had to leave behind. She was one of the few people in his family that he did not hate.
  
• Being found by his family before he is ready for them. While he did not give his oath to them, he still left the family. This is an egregious crime in their eyes, and can only be repaid with his death.
