Apparently some rich fellow in Hargeon had a priceless family heirloom snatched from him in the middle of the night. He had managed to wake up in time and chase the thieves back to their hideout but he had stopped from entering. In fact, it sounded like the place that the thieves had escaped to wasn’t so much a hideout as it was an entirely new realm. A doorway that had once been buried in the earth had apparently been set free by some kind of disaster some years ago and had lain dormant until recently. The man had described the world as ‘looking like it was made of pure crystal’. While it sounded completely delusional, it also wasn’t the first insane claim he had come across. There was a substantial reward offered for the return of the heirloom, something he was always happy to collect.
But he paused before he walked out of the guild hall, his brow furrowed. He was an A Rank wizard now, at least according to the directory at Fairy Tail. And while he was more than happy to continue on doing jobs himself or being paired up randomly, he also knew that he was ranked rather high in the guild. It wasn’t like he was some lowly C or D rank that could knock out jobs to try and gain jewel as fast as possible – now he had a responsibility to uphold. Admittedly, it wasn’t his favorite thought in the world but that didn’t make it any less true. That meant he should take into serious consideration trying to help some of the other wizards progress themselves forward and offer them opportunities to take on jobs with him. After all, Fairy Tail was an inclusive guild that was all about forming bonds and partnerships. He wasn’t looking for anyone to bond with like he had with Serilda, Markus and Nessa but that didn’t mean he couldn’t be, at the very least, friendly with his other guild mates.
“Lost in thought, Mythal?”
The God Slayer nearly jumped back into the front desk as the voice broke his thought process. He looked around for the person talking to him, finding no one at first. But then his head dropped a little and he found the small Demi-God of Storms, Susano. “How the… When the hell did you get here?” Mythal asked, scratching his head.
“It is not hard to track you, Mythal Ragnos. The air about you is… fraught with a strange magic,” the former champion of the Tower said, nodding wisely. “I was hoping to embark on a quest with you. I know you take on these… ‘jobs’ and wish to accompany you.” The midget demi-god explained.
“Funny, I was just thinkin’ I should broaden my horizons with the people in the guild…” The God Slayer muttered, scratching his chin.
Susano nodded. “An excellent idea. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to meet more of your comrades. Let us form a party that shall make the earth tremble and the skies cry out in fear,” the samurai declared triumphantly, thrusting a hand to the sky.
Mythal simply blinked at him and shook his head. “Yeah right, we’ll get right on that. ’Ey you,” he said, nodding at the woman that had just walked by him, in a half-hearted attempt to get her attention. He walked up to her and put his hand out for her to shake, displaying a surprising amount of confidence for someone that generally didn’t like to. “Name’s Mythal. I was wonderin’ if you would help me with this job I just picked up? Also this is Susan, he’s a midget demi-god. Long story.”
No point in paddling in the shallow end. Mythal dove right into the deep end of putting himself out there.
