Name: Nolan Delacroix
Gender: Male
Age: 17
Birthday:
Sexuality: Autosexual
Special Characteristics: Nolan has a scar on his left eye from a near-death experience.
Personality: The very embodiment of one who is the first to gloat but quick to hide, Nolan Delacroix is a coward through and through. He does not hide it at all, however. He will do whatever it takes to avoid death or serious injury and will not hesitate to run if things are looking bad unless he has others there with him to help him out. He has never once stated he is a brave or courageous type and will never mislead anyone about that.
He is earnest to a fault; a guillable young man, Nolan is quick to fall for just about any sort of trick in the book as a result of wanting to believe in the best of intentions of others. The young man struggles to comprehend deceit and the sort despite doing his best to hide his own sincere feelings from others.
Despite his brashness when it comes to verbal exchanges, Nolan actually hides a lot about how he truly feels especially about his Chaos Eye. Only those close to him know that he is afraid of serious injury or death but do not quite understand the extent of that fear as he has never explained his eye in detail even to those closest to him. When it comes to expressing how he truly feels on just about anything, he tends to give an answer that serves best to chameleon himself so that he'll continue to be able to stay with them.

It is no secret that Nolan's favorite thing in the world is... himself. That isn't to say he is arrogant, however. He does not believe himself stronger or faster or smarter than anyone else. He simply believes he is the most handsome man alive and is not above declaring himself as such. His vanity often surpasses delusion at times as though his head is in the clouds, existing entirely in a world of his own.
Nolan greatly enjoys fashion from all over the world. Perhaps it stems from the very nature of his magic, but he can't help but appreciate all manners of clothing as long as they're "in". His clothing taste, however, is as eccentric as he is vain and so he tends to wear rather outlandish clothing believing that he "makes it work". He enjoys reading all manner of fashion magazines as well, regardless of if it is in a language he knows or not -- he's knowledgable enough to be able to guess on the quality of the fabric and the sort just from the showcase of the outfits.
Nolan is big on family. Despite the misfortune that befell his family and forced them to flee, he has remained steadfast in supporting his family as best as he can. He cares deeply for his family and is proud of his heritage and what he his family in history had accomplished regardless of the slanderous accusations that stripped them from their homeland. Similary, those he considers close enough are those he condsiders family as well and that includes the likes of Claire, Lottie, Melina, and Riley.
There is nothing more in this world that Nolan hates more than the Chaos Eye. On one hand, it has helped him survive a great number of problematic encounters that would result in serious injury or worse. It is how he has managed to survive this long. But on the other, there is a part of him that has been driven insane even if only part. He doesn't just see his own death; in that fraction of a moment it feels like truly experiencing it. After experiencing it enough he isn't sure if he considers it a curse or a blessing. It has worn him out thoroughly.
Relating to his dislike of the Chaos Eye, Nolan dislikes comets for it feels like every near death encounter or narrowly avoided serious injury he has is right after a comet appearing. This also is a result of his constant time around Melina but he refuses to believe that any one person is a jinx and even though a lot of unfortunate events he has experienced after the fact stems from comets or other signs of bad luck, he blames his own fortune rather than anyone else.
Despite being in Meliora Vitae, Nolan actually has a dislike of vegetables. While he has been trying to slowly convert himself to a vegetarian diet and lifestyle to fully respect the guild, it has been difficult given his dislike for greens. For this reason he typically eats in private, trying to keep it a secret even as he will force himself to eat whatever the group has together in an attempt to try to show solidarity. Fortunately there are more foods than just vegetables in such a diet and he is able to enjoy those with a modicum of ease, but it has been a rough change for him.
Nolan's biggest motivator for anything is money. Through money, one can have anything. It's a pretty simple goal. That isn't to say he's a penny pincher nor does he intend to rip one of. Despite being from a noble family he has no qualms about working for his pay and tends to take on any number of jobs both in and out of the guild to try to earn additional income. The money he earns is sent back to his parents in an attempt to build a better life for themselves here.
Though partly connected to his goal of wealth, Nolan wants nothing more than to restore his family's name. He isn't sure if he can do that back home but he fully believes in himself and his family to start anew here. The blonde hopes to make various connections with other influential people and families to help bolster his image, and in doing so his families. With enough effort and favor, he believes the Delacroix can earn nobility once more.
Nolan believes he is a talented mage and while he wouldn't by any stretch be foolish enough to consider himself the strongest or even anything close, he also feels that he needs to be "stronger" then that same eye that has allowed him to survive this long. He wants to show he is strong because of his magic and not his eye and so that he can also stop relying on it in rough spots. The less he has to rely on it, the less it ends up acting up, the happier he'll end up being and so he tries to push himself to be more than someone with that eye.
Going back to his eye, Nolan is fearful of death. While everything that lives is on some level afraid of death, it is a bit different for Nolan who fears it on a conceptual level rather than just an instinctive level. For every near death experience he has faced, he has experienced death's embrace only to be jarringly pulled from it. He doesn't just see it, he experiences it in that moment. Death isn't something that is simply a part of life; it always lingers like a boogie man in his closet and few are as familiar with it as Nolan is for this reason.
Nolan's oldest brother was killed when he was younger and this marked the decline of the Delacroix family publicly. His brother was executed, rather, for crimes against the country. This naturally affected the whole family and sent their family into ruin. There was nobody Nolan respected more than his brother and he tried to take after him even if he failed. These crimes however were never proven and it seemed more like a smear campaign given coincidences since his father had nothing on him. The family was forced to flee given harassment and threats. However, his brother's passing filled a void in him -- a disdain for him in equal measure. There was a part of him that felt abandoned by the person he loved and idolized more than anyone. He doesn't want anyone he cares about to leave him regardless of the reason, and though he acknowledges it as an ugly feeling given it was out of his brother's hands, that same fear holds true, even now.
Though Nolan would never admit to it being a fear because of the absurdity of it, he has a dislike for stages. It reminds him of that unpleasant memory of his brother's final moments. He relives the moment of the scene in crystal clarity and will walk away whenever he sees one. He recognizes it as strange given that a stage cannot hurt him. But the reminder of his brother's final moments and the loneliness he felt years after the fact -- to this day in his brother's absence -- is enough to warrent his general unease around any stage, regardless of shape. If it looks like a stage, it is the stage where his brother's last breath was drawn.
