Sommarsun Weeks - A Fairy Tail RP Mini Event
A warm welcome to all visitors from near and far!
With summer just around the corner, the citizens of Fiore once again prepare to give thanks to nature for another winter's passing. All over the country, trees once again shine vibrant green and flowers blossom into the most beautiful of colors. The cold gradually gives way to the year's warmer days, and people everywhere are getting ready to celebrate Fiore's Sommarsun Weeks, a traditional festival that begins with spring and extends through the season into the beginning of the local summer. As the name suggests, this customary celebration takes place over the course of many weeks and draws many visitors both nationally and internationally, and with world events this year especially many yearn for a break from all the dire news. It is a time of joy, mellow jubilation, and good vibes, with a great variety of activities taking place over the duration of the fest. Please enjoy the comfort and charm Fiore offers to your heart's content!

Completion Requirements
This Event can be completed in groups of 1-6 players. This is a Social Event, but players can complete the event solo. It is encouraged to complete this event in groups.
There is no set Word Count for this Event. Instead, participating characters can indulge in the provided activities freely over the duration of several in-universe weeks if they so desire. There is no objective other than to relax and have fun! The only completion requirement is that participants must finish their Event thread as a cohesive and complete story. It must have an exposition, a plotline, and an end. As this system of judging completion for a thread is obviously new, we ask you to be reasonable and honest with yourselves. Please do not exploit this. The intention is to focus on having fun with your friends and complete enjoyable summer activities in-character instead of pursuing an arbitrary Word Count, so please keep this in mind and consider it if participating in this Event! This concept works on an honor-system, and we ask you to adhere to it. Apart from that, please feel free to write any kind of short story / social thread involving the Sommarsun Weeks festival at your desire, and also feel free to integrate personal plot into your own stories!
EXP and Jewel Bonuses do not apply to this Event.
Staff reserves the right to deny Event thread submissions that disregard the parameters for completion as described above.

Activities
Activities performed during the Event can include any summer activity that the players desire. To make it easier for people, though, you will find a few example activities listed below:
- Park Picnic:
- Park PicnicAll the blooming and green park spaces seem to be flooded with people enjoying the pleasant summer sun, and you soon come to understand why: A free all-you-can-eat picnic buffet, offering classic picnic foods and even warm meals to anyone willing to participate in the grand summer-themed feast. You're even provided with your very own picnic spot and all the assorted items you would need for a successful and memorable picnic!
- Food Stalls Alleys:
- Food Stall AlleysWhat would summer be without food stalls offering the best that street food has to offer? With Fiore being a melting pot of cultures, street foods from all over Ishgar are represented at the stalls that line the populated city streets. Anything one might imagine can be found at one or more vendors, sweet, savory, and so much more. And, of course, all food is provided entirely free of charge!
- Street BBQ:
- Street BBQFor those among you who want more hefty meals than Picnic or Street Foods, Event Organizers have prepared something special! All along the busiest squares and public spaces, massive BBQ stations have been set up. The smell of deliciously smoked, grilled, and roasted meats permeates the air, and most everything you can imagine is on offer. As before, all meals offered are free and come with a wide selection of classic BBQ sides!
- Cocktail Bars:
- Cocktail BarsWhat is a good fest without a sufficient supply of alcohol to turn things merry? Bars and fruit vendors have teamed up for this one to provide visitors with an array of delicious fruit-based drinks to advertise their products and services. Visitors to the Sommarsun Weeks festival drink for free, of course! Just don't overdo it...
- Fireworks Show:
- Fireworks ShowFireworks and pyrotechnics are periodically set off in dazzling displays once the summer days near their end and the heat of the day is replaced by cool nights. All of these shows are a sight to behold, and many visitors from all over come specifically to participate in the viewing events for these shows. All participants can, of course, freely take part in these viewings.
- Lantern Festival:
- Lantern FestivalOn nights when fireworks are absent, people partake in this activity that has become a widely known summer tradition in Fiore's Sommarsun Weeks festivities: The Lantern Festival. Once the sun has set, special lanterns are handed out, and once a candle is lit inside, they begin floating up into the darkness, hundreds of flickering lanterns rising into the sky making for a breathtaking view on a clear summer night. The lanterns, once reaching a certain altitude, self-destruct in a small puff of flame, meaning that there is no risk of fire. This, too, is a special feature of Sommarsun that attracts many visitors from all over each year.
- Midsummer Bonfires:
- Midsummer BonfiresThe last of the Sommarsun Weeks regional traditions. On clear spring and summer evenings, massive bonfires are lit, illuminating public spaces all around the towns and cities of Fiore. Often accompanied by song and dance, these fires burn throughout the hot summer nights and provide a nexus for all manners of social activities. Some towns and cities go even further and craft elaborate statues that are set alight in a spectacular show to remember for a while.
- Summer Parties:
- Summer PartiesAll great festivals need a bunch of parties. Anything and everything you can imagine is offered, a massive variety of music, dance, games, and competitions from all different cultures and classes. Of course, you can also win a bunch of classic prizes from playing, and hopefully, winning some of these party games and competitions or simply vibe with the atmosphere. Don't go overboard, though. The aim, after all, is to have fun and enjoy yourselves!
- Beach Party:
- Beach PartyNo good summer is complete without a trip to the beach! The festivities are, of course, also taking place near the ocean, and can include any and all activities listed before, but on a beach! There are also classic activities such as beach volleyball, swimming contests, and even boat rides offered here. Make sure to dress accordingly!
Rewards
All Players completing a Sommarsun Weeks Short Story / Social Thread with a character receive 1x Rank EXP of a rank higher than their own if completed solo (D and C rank receive B rank EXP. S rank and above receive 100y EXP).
All Players completing a Sommarsun Weeks Short Story / Social Thread receive 2x Rank EXP of a rank higher than their own if the Event is completed in a group of 2 or more Players (D and C rank receive 2x B rank EXP. S rank and above receive 2x 100y EXP).
The Event can be completed once per character.
All characters successfully completing the Event as per the previously outlined conditions will additionally receive the "Good Year, Good Vibes" modifier for their account until the end of the year 2023, which grants them an additional 25% EXP and Jewels from any completed job.
All Players completing a Sommarsun Weeks Short Story / Social Thread receive 2x Rank EXP of a rank higher than their own if the Event is completed in a group of 2 or more Players (D and C rank receive 2x B rank EXP. S rank and above receive 2x 100y EXP).
The Event can be completed once per character.
All characters successfully completing the Event as per the previously outlined conditions will additionally receive the "Good Year, Good Vibes" modifier for their account until the end of the year 2023, which grants them an additional 25% EXP and Jewels from any completed job.
