Description:
It is known that Embrant, when first embarking from mainland Ishgar to found his own nation, brought along the arthropods that Embrantes today refer to as "Mirables". These creatures became the foundation, as well as an integral part of Embranti society, the legacy of Embrant living on to this day in his successors. Still, Embrant was not born with his powers, but rather, received them from an unknown insectoid. That day, of course, marks a significant event in the history of the nation that is today called Embrant after its founder, but there is a side in that exchange often forgotten. Not much is known about the enigmatic progenitor insectoid that first enabled the nation of Embrant to rise to where it is today, but the exchange between the two sides was not a one-way affair. The fact that the deal that was struck between Embrant and the insectoid, a creature that had never before encountered a human being, began a new dynasty among the arthropods of the forest is still a closely guarded secret among even the ranks of Embrant's finest. A liaison was needed to stay in contact with the humans so that a fruitful friendship may be established between the two sides, and an alliance could be formed under the condition that she would only stay as long as Embrant needed assistance to truly become a self-sufficient people. As such, the insectoid created a daughter specifically for that task, crafting a being that would function as an observer and an ambassador to the world of mirables and humans, itself somewhere between humanoid and arthropod in appearance.
Thus, Filomena was born, accompanying the then barely-established Embrantes as they built their state, watching it grow and prosper in no small part due to the efforts of her siblings. Still, gradually, as she spent years and years along the people of Embrant and never really growing older along the way, she came to understand that they possessed something that she did not: A lacrima heart. Her siblings, those raised by Embrant, and some of their descendants seemed to bear such a heart within them, and the people that cared for these creatures they called Velhos rightly revered the arthropods and their hearts for their miraculous qualities and awe-inspiring powers. Gradually, the being known as Filomena grew jealous of those that could call such a heart their own, and thus, when her task had been fulfilled and Embrant had grown to such a degree that it had grown independent, a secret pact was formed and she was released from her duties. Now without purpose, the hybrid set out to fulfill her own dream and acquire a lacrima heart, though the end of her story has not yet been written.
Filomena is a quiet, though exceedingly discerning and attentive being. She is soft-spoken and often aloof, but highly intelligent and ruthlessly efficient. She also insists on her independence and doesn't submit to authority. Her skin seems to be made of a layer of flexible, yet sturdy substance that resembles chitin. She possesses a pair of highly dexterous tails that are capable of complex motion and resemble centipedes and, despite her appearance, she boasts incredible physical abilities and stunning magical combat prowess.
Abilities:
- Plot Abilities:
Sight: Filomena perceives her surroundings using the two antennae on her head in both an electromagnetic and infrared spectrum, giving her a full three-dimensional view of her surroundings.
Empath: While she doesn't communicate via speech in the traditional sense, Filomena communicates through Telepathy if another party is willing to communicate with her as well. She can do so at will and across vast distances up to a few kilometers. Her thoughts and ideas will always manifest in an individual's mother tongue, and as such, she is able to communicate effectively with pretty much all humans. Furthermore, she can communicate in the same way with arthropod lifeforms. Lastly, Filomena is highly sensible to emotions, but only in those willing to communicate with her, being able to sense and interpret the emotional state of anyone she speaks to in this way (OOC permission required for this to be used on Players, player-owned NPCs, or Event NPCs).
Shapeshifter: Filomena can transform her form into that of a small millipede resembling her tail, about two feet in length, for convenience or travel, often wrapping around the user of the Combat Pet like a scarf. Without a second glance, she'd look like one, too. If one overlooks the legs, that is.
Name: Resonance
Category: Auxiliary
Type: Passive
Description: Once granted a Lacrima, the magic inside Filomena's newly acquired Lacrima heart began to resonate, connecting her to the one that had given her that gift and intertwining their fates. This Combat Pet is classed as a "Bond" pet associated with all 3 of the user's magics, meaning that it can be used as the origin point for all of the user's spells. Further, this Combat Pet also benefits from all stat increases and modifying factors its user benefits from and vice versa, and this Combat Pet and the user can use spells of associated magics independently and separately from one another. This Combat Pet, however, does not gain additional abilities (unless used as a true "Bond" pet for one of the user's magics. Can only be used as a "Bond" pet for a single "Bond" type magic in accordance with the rules for "Bond" type magic. If this Combat Pet is used as a "Bond" pet, the previously granted bonuses are not overridden). The user of the Combat Pet may freely and independently utilize the abilities of this Combat Pet. Both the user and the Combat Pet benefit from a 100% increase to either their base Spell Damage or base Strength.
Increase Chosen: Strength
Name: Crystal-Chitinous Defence
Category: Auxiliary
Type: Passive
Description: Filomena's chitin is a strange material that can harden exponentially in response to ethernano or traumatic stimuli, drawing energy from the individual she is bonded to. This Combat Pet receives an additional flat increase to its original base HP based on 50% of the user's maximum HP (e.g., the user has a max HP of 1,000, meaning that Filomena would receive, in this example, 500 points to her base HP) and vice versa. Filomena can, at will, produce a shield out of a thick, web-like substance resembling spider silk to defend and cover an area equal to user rank advanced burst range at user rank advanced burst speed (Up to S) once per post. This shield possesses a durability equal to 50% of Filomena's maximum HP and cannot be pierced by spells containing a piercing effect.
Name: Insectoid Pseudo-Breath
Rank: User Rank Advanced (Up to H++ / Unlocked at H rank)
HP Cost: 750 HP
Category: Offensive
Type: Burst - Charge, Piercing
Damage: 600 HP / 300 HP per post
Range: 1,500 m
Speed: 2,000 m/s
Duration: 5 posts max
Downside: Designated HP cost must be paid in order to activate this ability. Ability cannot benefit from Cost Reductions.
Description: Filomena draws an immense amount of power from the Lacrima heart that she's been granted, concentrating raw arcane might within her body. She can either choose to continue to build up this power or release it immediately, though only one method may be chosen per activation. If the former is chosen, the ability will store 300 HP of damage every post. The ability can be released at any point during the ability's duration, dealing the stored damage. If the latter method of activation is chosen, the ability instead deals 600 HP of damage. Once the ability is released, Filomena takes a deep breath and, in a display of colossal power, releases the energy of her Lacrima in a shockwave from her mouth that can either spread out all around her or in a wide cone shape before her, evoking the image of a breath attack that spreads out up to the range of the ability at the ability's speed. Any element or a combination of elements associated with the integrated Lacrima may be used as the basis of this breath attack. The attack can pierce through shields, armors, and barriers, though sacrifices 50% of its base damage if doing so. This ability can either benefit from increases associated with spells (Spell Damage, Spell Range, Spell Speed) or increases associated with techniques (Strength, Technique Range, Technique Speed), though only one may be chosen in any given thread where this ability is used. The type of increases chosen must be denoted when activating the ability for the first time during a thread.
