Nightmare Incarnate: The Beginning [Hikari & Iku]

Ding Dong! Ding Dong! Ding Dong! The bell rang loudly, repeating several times. GODDAMNIT! Who the hell is disturbing my sleep early in the morning? Hikari removed the blanket over her face and jumped out of the bed. She rubbed her eyes gently and walked grumpily towards the door of her room. Reaching for the door handle, she  opened it to see no one in front of her. Hikari stuck her head out and looked left and right, surveying the empty corridors. There was no sign of anyone except for a large box left at the foot of her door. Hikari picked up the box and closed the door behind her.

Hikari stared at the mysterious box in her hands, which had the initials 'SM' written on it and wondered what would be inside of it. Jewels for me? Nah. That's impossible, She tore the box open and saw a hardcover book and a voice recorder lacrima covered in blood stains. Argh. Holy cow. She frowned and dropped the objects on the floor, her hands also covered in blood. Hikari had a very bad premonition about this. She flipped the pages and skimmed it quickly, which made her realized that the book and the recorder was Samuel Martin's property. Just reading the diary give her shivers. Her curiosity was now really aroused. She was determined to find out who, Samuel Martin, really is and what actually happened in that forest.

Quickly changing her clothes, she set out for the journey to the Spooky Forest. The name itself was sending shivers down her spine. She stood at the entrance of the forest and stared up at the dense, verdant trees. Finally, there, she reached to her destination, to discover all those mysteries.

"DING DONG, DING DONG!"

Waking up, not bothering to make his bed like usual, Ikuto gradually headed out the door, hoping to see nothing more than a child playing pranks on him. Ikuto opened his door, looking out for any signs of anyone being there, searching but finding no footprints at all. On the ground, however, was a blood-stained box. Picking it up, Ikuto checked it out, seeing if there were any clues to who would've dropped such a vulgar display. A sweat-drop of nervousness slowly streaked across his face. Using his left hand to wipe the droplet, Ikuto held to box with one hand, only to drop it back down, onto the floor. Staring at his hands, he noticed something of vital intelligence, that his hands were stained with the blood.

"This blood...it's...it's still fresh."

Curiosity got the best of Ikuto, forcing him to shred open the box. With a surprised look on his face, Ikuto took out an object, which seemed to be some kind of lacrima, along with some pages of a book. What was it? A diary or a journal? Why was it delivered to him? Who sent it? Millions and millions of thoughts raced inside Ikuto's head. The only way to figure this all out is to somehow activate the lacrima. Ikuto touched the lacrima, holding it up, hoping to figure it out by touching it randomly. And it seemed to do the trick! The lacrima flashed, trying to do a visual appearance, but it was too fuzzy to see it all, only static noises were heard. It was decided that Ikuto had no other choice than to just listen to the audio lacrima, therefore, that's all that he did.

After listening to the audio lacrima, it seemed to not have answered Ikuto's questions, yet giving him more. Who sent you these items? How do they know your name? What happened to the Rune Knights? What did they find in that forest? With a confident look on his face, along with a curiosity to find out himself, Ikuto raced out of his home towards the Spooky Forest.

Hikari was struggling whether to go into the forest or not. Seconds later, she decided that she'd spend some leisure time before solving all those mysteries. To be honest, she was procrastinating and she was quite scared to discover them. What if the rune knights were murdered? Will there be ghosts in there? What do they look like? Can they touch me? Those kind of questions were driving her crazy as they popped into her head one after another. She didn't like ghosts and stuffs in the first place. "Why did I come here anyway?" Hikari mumbled before she face-palmed and shook her head. She walked away to get some water from the nearby river to cool herself down. Seriously though, she needed more self-esteem.

There, Hikari sat on a rock just beside a narrow stream. The water was crystal clear that you could see fishes swarming around and the rock tiles underneath. Hikari folded her jeans up to knee-length and played the water, splashing it with her feet. She was having fun all by herself, catching fishes with no success, when she realized that she still have to solve the problems which occurred in the forest. Later, she dried up herself and walked back to the forest. When she reached, she caught sight of a person standing in front of that Spooky forest. Hikari squinted to have a clearer vision and walked towards the unknown person. She cocked her head to one side and stared up at him. "Hi. I'm Hikari. Are you also here to find out what happened to the rune knights?" Hikari said flatly, searching for some kind of expression on his face. She didn't know if he knew about all of this about the rune knights and whatnot but she mentioned it anyways.

"Hi. I'm Hikari. Are you also here to find out what happened to the rune knights?"

Ikuto turned around quite rapidly, seeing if the voice was something to make an ally or an enemy of. Inspecting the girl, Ikuto soon came to the mere conclusion she knew nothing of them, yet she mentioned them. Bewildered and wanting to learn more, he decided that he had no other choice than to be frank with her. Ikuto turned his straight-faced personality 180 degrees around, replying to her question.

"So Hikari, huh? It seems you know about them too?" with a enormous grin on his face, although deep inside, he wanted to be straight-out serious. "Yes, I'm here to figure out what happened to the Rune Knights. It seems I haven't introduced myself. I'm Ikuto, Fairy Tail's Angelic God and Duelist, at your acquaintance." With his all-out goofy, yet serious personality, he silently urged Hikari to let on more of what she knew.

Fairy Tail's Angelic God and Duelist, eh? Hikari had somehow heard about him, the time when the rumors were spreading that he's a very strong mage but she hadn't met him personally. Up close, Hikari realized that he's a very tall young man with those long, thin legs and his soft, blonde hair swaying in the air. She stood there staring at him for a moment, taking every little bit of his appearance. "Nice to meet you, Ikuto," Hikari smiled, finally breaking the awkward silence between them. "I don't actually know about anything about these rune knights ..." She paused. "... But, a mysterious parcel was at my doorstep, which contains a blood-stained recorder lacrima and a journal and that, lead me to this place," Her voice has gone very quiet as if she was whispering to him. Hikari was genuinely puzzled as she stared down at her feet.

"Now, shall we go into this forest together? We can talk on the way so that we're not bored or anything," Hikari smiled at him and started walking into the forest. She was quite glad that there was someone together with her because if she was alone, she wouldn't even dare to take a step into the forest. To say the truth, she is a scaredy cat.

Rushing after her, Ikuto grabbed onto her arm and pulled, warning her "No!" He noticed his change in tone and blurted out quickly, "Sorry about that, but it seems that we can't take them. Whatever's got ahold of the Rune Knights...we can't simply outmatch."

Pondering again, he thought and thought, then came to the conclusion that even, he, had wanted to know what happened. "Instead, why don't I go on first? Ahead of you? I might not look like it, but I'm a pretty capable mage myself!" Ikuto spoke, rather arrogantly. So with that, he stumbled off into the woods first, casting a very dim light with a magical ball of...light in his hands. Gesturing himself in the direction of the woods, Ikuto questioned Hikari, "Shall we?"

A strong hand grabbed Hikari by the arm which forced her to stop from walking into the forest. Quickly, she spun around and stared at him quizically, arching an eyebrow at him. He said something about the Rune Knights and that they wouldn't be able to outmatch them. "Instead, why don't I go on first? Ahead of you? I might not look like it, but I'm a pretty capable mage myself!" Ikuto insisted. Hikari stood there quietly, contemplating. "Uhh .. Yeah. Sure," She agreed and beamed at him, satisfied with the situation.

Hikari watched as Ikuto made a magical ball which lighted up the place and gestured her to follow him. "Shall we?" She smiled and nodded as they shuffled into the woods together. She prayed silently to herself, hoping that there wouldn't be any weird creatures leaping onto her. Well, if one did appear she could just hide behind Ikuto and let him do the rest. Hah! Such a great idea. But, no, she wouldn't do that alas, because that would totally make her look very uncool. Psht.
