It had been a long time since Takumi was this worried about anything, but here he was, fretting over both of his children’s outfits as they walked through Magnolia, the guild he loved so desperately their destination. This place had been his home for years now, and he’d made many friends and lost them during that time. However, the young man was most nervous to introduce his children to the guild at large, old enough to not need him every second of the day or not. They were still so young, and Fairy Tail tended to be chaotic at the best of times. Inori and Castiel would doubtless only add to the chaos.
With one child clinging to each of his hands, the diminutive man made his way to the front doors of the guild. His home, the home of his favorite people in the world. Or, those who were left. He was still wrapping his head around some of his friends being missing or just plain dead. A ripple of grief passed through him at that, but he forcefully suppressed it, turning to kneel in front of the twins before they could actually enter the guild.
“Inori, Castiel. I know I’ve already told you this, but this place is my guild. I spent a lot of years as a member of this guild, and this is the place where all of my friends are. I need you to be on your best behaviour, okay? I know they’ll love you two, but things can get a bit crazy here and I don’t want you or anybody else getting hurt, okay?”
Inori was the first of the pair to speak, her little eyebrows scrunched together as she thought hard. “Friends? I want to see!” Takumi’s expression softened at this, even as Castiel nodded along to his sister’s words, albeit hiding behind her just slightly. Sometimes, Inori looked so much like her father it hurt, but he only loved her all the more for it. Castiel was almost a carbon copy of him, but Inori had inherited her father’s strange purple hair and most of his facial features.
“Alright, my darlings, let’s go meet everybody.” he said, taking both children’s hands once more as the doors opened before them. Time to meet his guildmates indeed. He could only hope none of the newer members would mind the two tiny four year olds clinging to their father’s hands.
