A cold, bitter gust of air ran through Althea’s hair as she hoisted herself higher on the sheer mountain face. She clung to the pale gray rocks jutting out from the cliff and nestled her bare feet into its small crevices. If she were ever to lose her grip and slip, the only thing that could soften her fall was the pine trees miles below. However, rather than hazardous, the spirit found her mountain climbing to be purely recreational. It had been a very long time since she last wandered through a land with a blue sky and yellow sun, let alone her ‘hometown’ of the Phoenix Mountains. Although her work as an ace of Fairy Tail was enjoyable for her in the past, it hadn't left much free time for trips back to the lands she grew up in. Nothing in particular directly prompted her to revisit the same mountains she scaled in her childhood, but even with the sheer amount of time elapsed, she didn’t need to search the rocks for footholds. Althea simply guided her limbs across the familiar stone, quickly making her way up as she drew upon her years of prior experience. Many things had changed during her disappearance from Earthland, but she found solace in the fact that mountains seemed much less permissible to change than people.

However, more than anything else, Althea found the most change in herself. She had long since eclipsed the need to ever know how to climb up 90-degree slopes, watch out for avalanches, or gauge the weather. If she so wished, nothing was stopping her from clearing the height with magical flight. Bone-chilling winds that previously required several layers of animal furs to block were now impeded by nothing but a white dress with athletic shorts underneath. Any last figments of her “human-esque” biology had been scrubbed away, leaving behind a full-fledged spirit in its wake. There were certainly upsides to the change, but… Well, the past year of her life had been far from pleasant.

However, there was no need to dwell on those less savory thoughts– Althea had finally reached a plateau. Swiftly heaving herself onto the edge, she let out a sigh and took in the scenery. The sun was preparing to sink below the horizon, and wispy clouds drifted across the warm, orange sky. The clearing she found herself on was dusted lightly with shimmering snow. This place was far from any human settlements, but it wasn’t like the ledge was completely inaccessible to methods other than rock climbing. In the past, Althea opted into taking the most dangerous paths for training purposes, but one could simply walk up the mountain path and find themself in the same area.

However, as Althea watched the sun lethargically sink further into the sky, she was suddenly interrupted.

“...Nngh!” The blonde couldn’t help but let out a grunt of pain as she folded over, hand clutching her chest. The sudden, splintering pain coursed throughout Althea’s body. In an instant, just the task of standing up straight became taxing. As she limply fell to her hands and knees, her mind was muddled with confusion. However, as the woman assessed her body, she quickly found her answer. Her right hand had already started becoming opaque, particles of light rising from what was previously solid skin.

“N-No…” Althea raised her trembling hand to her face, eyes wide. “No, no, I-I should have more time– Ugh!” The spirit was wracked with an even stronger jolt of pain as she was overcome with the sensation of being slowly ripped out of her current dimension. Despite her vocal protests, she was indeed running out of time, and the clock was ticking down to when she would run out of energy to resist the counter-summon.

She had historically proven herself capable of maintaining her nonchalant attitude in the most stressful of situations, but this was not one of them. Upon realizing the situation, her first impulse was… to panic. A haze of magic erupted from Althea, splattering onto her surroundings like black, murky paint. Thankfully, the viscous liquid wouldn’t be hazardous to any plants and animals in her vicinity. It was just high-concentration mana and dream essence that she used to cast magic, albeit dyed by her current state. Her breath was ragged as she attempted to keep a reign on her erratic emotions, but she was fighting an uphill battle. Even more than the pain, her heart’s desperate throbbing reverberated throughout her body. Every fiber of her being was screaming for her to do something– to do anything to not return to that torturous hellscape. But the only thing that could save her now would be to get a contractor, and turning a mountainscape into hilly plains would be the opposite of help. Of course, it wasn’t like she was in any condition to actively move, and wasting additional energy would only quicken the process.

Before she knew it, Althea could feel wet tears rolling down her face. Pathetic… She was being crushed under this pressure. The spirit wanted to laugh at herself, but she also wanted to scream and writhe in opposition to her impending fate. She hated weakness, but here she was, too paralyzed by fear to do anything more than persist for some kind of miracle.

As the World Caves In [Mythica] Empty Re: As the World Caves In [Mythica]

Post by Mythica 6th December 2022, 3:51 pm

Time was a funny thing. At one moment it all seemed so much more terrifying. The shadows of the mountains looming over you like the ominous figures of your past, the chill wind shuddering every bone in your body, with the twilight sky reminding you that the light can only last for so long. And yet… Now she felt nothing.

Oddly enough the chronomancer had no idea how much time had actually passed since she was last in these mountains. Her memories of Merlin and how he found her were far from her mind these days, though coming back to the range certainly felt familiar. She felt it strange that fate would have her return, wondering if her sources placed her prize at the very location of the massacre. Mythica couldn’t help but crack a smirk to herself when she thought of the irony of such an outcome. Perhaps remnants of the old cult were still alive and kicking? How unfortunate… For them. The Abyssal Fleet had need of the old artifacts in those dark caves, and Mythica was feeling rather inclined to get them. If she could just remember her way around here anyways. Her smile soon dropped to a frown when the time witch remembered she had been the blood wolf when she broke free of the cult’s grip, having no memory of what had transpired exactly after. Well, this was rather irritating. Had she been wandering around aimlessly this whole time? Mythica did little to hide her disappointment, crossing her arms as she stared up at a large waterfall with a deadly glare. “Well…” She spoke to the air. “I remember it was near water…”

Some unknown amount of time later Mythica found herself near one of the many plateaus overlooking the river valleys below. She walked at a leisurely pace, her hands clasped behind her back as the girl recklessly stepped along the cliff’s edge. Perhaps an overhead view of these peaks would provide her with better insight into the location of this annoying little cult. Following the waterfall’s source to the height of the mountain was of little consequence, though the blood wolf was starting to wonder how long her patience would last. There were other ways to find what she wanted, but it normally required monsters of the netherworld and lots of blood. Though the chronomancer felt that method could draw unwanted attention so she opted to act as a simple traveler instead, despite her odd getup. Mythica’s clothing wasn’t very strange, but certainly not something you’d expect for mountaineering. The witch wore a long-sleeved white buttoned shirt with a black skirt and tights to match, coupled with some dark shoes. She looked more like she was walking to school than she did climbing through the Phoenix Mountains. Still, that didn’t appear to bother Mythica at all, as somehow her clothing still seemed miraculously clean.

Sighing Mythica would turn her gaze to the fading sun, her clock eye seemingly ticking with anticipation as the orange glow faded with each moment. It was easy to forget how dangerous this place could be from up here. Everything seemed so much calmer. The only sound was the rustling wind and her own annoying thoughts. That was until Mythica felt a new sensation… Something magical! Turning her head ever so slightly Mythica’s gaze sharpened for a moment, trying to pinpoint the source of this new energy. Was this what she had been looking for? Was Mythica close? The chronomancer wasn’t about to wait, she needed to find out.

Althea may have been too busy to notice Mythica, though the witch had arrived on the scene just as the woman was starting to fade away. The blood wolf assessed the situation first, watching the strange girl from the darkness of the trees before making her presence known. This girl was familiar to her, she had met her before, hadn’t she? More important questions began to take root in Mythica’s mind however as she continued to watch Althea with keen interest. She was clearly distressed, as some form of magic appeared to be taking hold of her. However, this type of magic was not familiar to Mythica. It didn’t feel like a simple curse as the chronomancer had much experience crafting such spells, no this was something different entirely. Listening in on the words Althea muttered, Mythica tried to piece together what could be happening before the girl erupted with dark magic! This surprised the girl, prompting Mythica’s mismatched gaze to widen suddenly. It had been years but Mythica knew this woman from Mura’s company. If she was a friend of his, she figured she should check the situation out in further detail.

“And that’s the problem, isn’t it?” A cold voice called out from behind Althea. Mythica finally stepped out of the shadows of the treeline, her gaze fixed on the horizon as she walked beside the girl in agony. She halted next to Althea, though her eyes didn’t look down to meet the spirit. Instead, Mythica’s clock-eyed gaze would remain locked on the setting sun. “There’s never enough time.” Finally Mythica would turn to face Althea, looking down at her with interest. Now that Mythica was closer she could get a better view of her situation. It seemed like parts of the girl’s body were literally beginning to fade, as if she was falling out of existence. “Though on occasion you can meet those with some to spare.” She would say rather cryptically. It was difficult for someone like Mythica to feel sympathy for the suffering, after everything she had done. It could explain her unusual behavior around a woman who is in obvious pain. However, that didn’t mean the witch wasn’t interested in helping. “What are you doing all the way out here anyways? Fairy Tail is some ways away.” She’d ask, seemingly ignoring the state of agony Althea was in. Instead, she stared at the woman, the golden clock in her eye ticking with every second…

With every second that passed, Althea’s grip on her current reality only slipped further. Even the tears she shed disappeared in a small glitter before ever even reaching the cold, uncaring ground. What could she do now? The fact she was silently crying while half-resigning herself was quite unsightly. Perhaps there was something she could’ve done to prevent this from happening in the first place. Maybe if she reached out to someone for just an inkling of help – if she was willing to acknowledge her weaknesses and shortcomings – the spirit would’ve formed a contract by now. Well, it was too late to regret it now.

Or at least, that’s what Althea believed until a frosty voice cut through the desolate silence. She struggled to raise her gaze from the ground, finding its source to be a black-haired stranger emerging from the shadows. The first thing she felt was an intense relief, but that was soon followed by a creeping suspicion. When taken outside of the context of their location, there was nothing wrong with the woman’s attire. In fact, the only truly significant characteristic to be found was her strange, clock-shaped iris. However, anyone so casually ill-prepared for the inclement weather likely wasn’t just an everyday mountain climber. Her words further cemented this idea in Althea’s head, them being some vague, confusing lines about… time? The youth wasn’t even sure if she was talking to her, the woman hadn’t given her even a glance upon appearing. The searing pain she was currently in certainly didn’t help her attempts to understand the sudden intrusion, but she remained slightly suspicious of this person’s agenda. How long had she been watching her? The blonde was incredibly vulnerable in her current state, and one act of ill will could result in irreparable damage to her. When given the choice between that or simply returning to the spirit realm sooner than she already was, she would gladly spend her remaining mana on self-defense. However, any tension dissipated upon the mention of a single thing: Fairy Tail.

The right hand bearing her guild mark has long been reduced to nothing, so the only reasonable explanation was that this woman already met her beforehand. The spirit desperately scanned the woman’s face along with her memory, and suddenly she was struck with the realization that her face was indeed familiar. She was… Mura’s fiancee, Mythica, right? Or at this point, she’d likely already be his wife. Althea had received an invitation to their wedding ceremony but was unable to attend thanks to her initial disappearance to the aetherial spirit realm all that time ago. The woman’s behavior was strange considering the situation, but she was gladly willing to dismiss any signs of something being amiss about her. Mura had acted as a mentor of sorts to her, and she had absolute trust in his judge of character. Additionally, this was her one and only path to concretely escaping from the hellscape that was the aetherial realm, and the ideal situation had presented itself to her. Such a thing was unlikely– the perfect person came to the perfect place at the perfect time. But evidently, nothing but chance and circumstance could stop such a miracle from happening.

“I… p-ple…” Althea attempted to speak, but her body was clearly in too poor of a condition to be capable of speech. At this point, she was already accustomed to enduring the pain of being torn between dimensions, but it seemed that actively speaking at the same time was too much to ask for. It was a rather frustrating conclusion, but there was thankfully an alternative method available to her. Wielding some of her last remaining traces of magic energy, Althea would attempt to telepathically transmit her words directly to the clock-eyed woman. “Hello. Mythica, right? My name is Althea. Please sign a contract with me.” Her voice would be cold, but a sense of desperate urgency was evident in her tone. “I’m a fairly strong spirit, and we can make whatever deal you want. I’m the kind that doesn’t directly need mana, energy, or lifeforce. Just the connection itself will do. You can trust that I’m not an evil or malicious being, I was a bit like… Mura’s apprentice in Fairy Tail at some point. Please.” She skipped over answering the question, the current situation was too dire for her to give a complete explanation at the moment. Afterwards, maybe, but currently Althea was absorbed in preventing the worse case scenario before it was too late.

As the World Caves In [Mythica] Empty Re: As the World Caves In [Mythica]

Post by Mythica 18th December 2022, 9:28 pm

The clock-eyed witch's mismatched gaze never failed to look away from Althea now that Mythica had approached and spoken to her, still staring at the woman's condition with immense curiosity. Though if Mythica was going to be perfectly honest with herself she couldn't quite grasp what was going on. This type of magic was clearly beyond her area of expertise, and whatever it was Althea seemed to be tied to it somehow. Though the girl seemed to be in too much pain to give any kind of response to the chronomancer's questions. Not surprisingly. To any onlooker what Mythica was doing may have appeared cruel, standing idly by while the young woman yelled on in agony. Though the time witch was far from finished. Despite not fully understanding the magic Mythica could tell that Althea was running out of time. If her pained yells weren't enough to convince Mythica the slowly fading of Althea's body certainly would be. Mythica had no idea where her body was going, though it was clear Althea had no interest in letting it take her. Something that became incredibly clear once Mythica heard another voice enter her mind! How strange to feel the magic of telepathy once again. She already had enough voices in her head as it were, though at least Althea's sounded different from the rest of them. It sounded genuine.

Mythica's eyes only widened slightly after the first few words Althea spoke, signaling to the pained woman that the chronomancer could understand her. It appeared as though Althea hadn't forgotten who Mythica was either, which honestly surprised the witch. She had made a habit of making herself scarce around Mura's guild, especially in recent months. Still, Mythica remembered who Althea was after all so it probably wasn't crazy to assume the girl's memory was still intact, even if the rest of her body didn't appear to be. However what seemed to catch Mythica's interest, even more, were the next words that she heard from Althea, who quickly confessed her situation to the chronomancer. Surprisingly enough the woman claimed to be a spirit! Of course! Mythica would have cursed herself for not thinking of that sooner. Perhaps that was on purpose, as Mythica had met otherworldy beings before that preferred to keep their foreign status hidden. Not that it mattered much in the end now though, as Althea's situation seemed to be getting direr and direr by the minute, which prompted a fairly interesting proposition from the fading spirit. The entire time Althea spoke to Mythica within her mind the clock-eyed girl remained completely silent, her face studying Althea's closely as she thought about the spirit's words.

Mythica had many questions of course before she could simply accept such a deal, though unfortunately for Althea time seemed to be running out. How irritating. Though when Althea finally mentioned Mura and her experience with him Mythica's eyes sharpened slightly before finally she decided to make a choice. Without saying a single word in response to Althea's deal Mythica slowly turned her head back towards the sun and stared at it for a moment, her golden clock eye beginning to tick even faster! With a long deep breath, an ominous glow began to creep from Mythica's golden iris before suddenly a shockwave of yellow and red magic instantly erupted from Mythica's location, spreading out in all directions from her was a giant clock-looking magic seal on the ground! With an extremely loud gong, it sounded like a giant clock was ringing in their minds before suddenly it went completely silent. There was no sound of distant birds or the running water of the nearby river. Even the wind had fallen completely still as if the world had been frozen in place. Most interestingly enough though the relentless setting of the sun as well as Althea's disappearing body had been halted! At least for the moment. The silence was finally only broken when Mythica took in another deep breath before turning back to Althea with a soft smile. "Perhaps we should discuss these terms when your life isn't on the clock." She would say calmly. If Althea hadn't noticed it already, whatever spell Mythica used appeared to have frozen the process that was taking away the spirit's body, yet Althea would still feel in complete control of herself.

"My dear you really should be more careful." Mythica started, turning back towards the sun and outstretching her arms a bit. "What fate would have awaited you had I not come along?" She would say cautiously, though it was obvious Mythica was asking a question at the same time. Despite the deal, Althea had desperately proposed to Mythica only moments before the time witch still felt the need to sate her curiosity about a few things. "Is this sort of thing normal for spirits who have no contract? Or.." Mythica continued, trailing off slightly with a sinister grin. "Were you naughty and broke the terms of your previous commitment?" She would say. Mythica figured it was only fair to ask. Now that the time witch had spared Althea the pain, at least temporarily, she expected the spirit to be truthful with her. "If you're looking to form a contract with me, I thought it only prudent to be sure." After all, a lot of Mythica's time had been spent wandering the continent creating contracts with mortals. One of the things that annoyed her to no end was those who went back on their word. Now Althea didn't look like the type to swindle someone, but Mythica knew better than anyone just how deceiving someone's appearance could be. And now that Althea's true nature as a spirit had just been revealed to Mythica she wasn't about to take any chances. Mythica had experience with all sorts of beings from other realms, most of which weren't friendly. However, if Mura trusted the girl as she claimed then perhaps Mythica didn't have to fear the spirit's motives.

"And take all the time you need to reorientate yourself. We certainly have more than enough here." Mythica would chuckle, putting her hands behind her back. What Mythica said remained true, as the area around them seemed completely stuck in time except for their two bodies. Althea could move freely, though her body was no longer disappearing. The agonizing pain that came with having every fiber of your being ripped out of this reality also seemed to have vanished, at least for the moment.

Good, the telepathy seemed to have gone through. Althea hadn’t considered the possibility before using her magic to transmit her voice, but Mythica could’ve possessed some form of ability, item, etc. that automatically blocked her attempts at communication. The spirit never knew the other woman to be capable of wielding any form of magic, but she wouldn’t be surprised if she could. Either way, being a mage wasn’t a requirement when it came to her forging a contract. So, details such as that were not really any of her business. Pursing her lips through the pain, eyebrows furrowed, the blonde gazed upwards toward her potential savior with a stern yet heated gaze. Some may call her naive, but there was already a glimmer of hope in her otherwise tumultuous psyche. This was her last chance to avoid confronting the agonies she suffered in the past, so she would be as sincere as possible with her potential contractor. And hopefully, she’d be rewarded in turn.

Well, that’s what she was thinking, but what followed next was far out of Althea’s set of expectations for how the encounter would develop. A burst of magic erupted from Mythica, the sheer scale of which immediately set off alarm bells in her head. Under more typical circumstances, she would’ve drawn a weapon already, but that evidently wasn’t possible at the moment. It wasn’t that the spirit wished to harbor any ill intentions, it was just that her gut reaction to the sudden use of magic was to get in a… preemptive strike of sorts to level the playing field. Either way, all she was capable of at the moment was watching as an arcane marking spread across the earth, fists clenched in anticipation as she felt a cold sweat drip down her back.

But what followed could be considered even more concerning. There was a loud gong, and then… it was gone. The soft yet deeply chilling mountain breeze, the scampering of animals, the distant sound of rustling trees– they all came to a stop. The setting sun that Mythica had been gazing off towards was unmoving in the sky… and the pain that had been ruthlessly tearing apart Althea’s body had completely disappeared. No, that wasn’t right, it felt more as if it had been put on ‘pause.’ The spirit’s amber eyes widened in shock upon realizing the situation, but she didn’t hesitate for a moment before focusing the arcane energy she’d been investing to resist the interdimensional pull into her physical body. In a golden glitter, her arm returned to its former state, and enough strength to at least stand on her two feet once again dwelled in her. However, with this investment, she had truly placed all her eggs into one basket. The only thing between her and the Aetherial Wastes was whatever presumably arcane phenomenon was currently at play.

Unsteadily getting to her feet, she faced Mythica with rigid continence. However, the shaking hands hanging at her side would be enough to betray her extreme nerves. Was control over time something that should even be possible? And what if this woman, someone who she was just now having her first proper conversation with, simply canceled the magic? Althea’s mind was a mess, but as she opened her mouth to talk, she forcibly silenced her racing thoughts and coldly steadied her shaking hands. “Thank you. I… don’t know what you did. And I won’t ask. You prevented my return to the wastelands of the aetherial spirit realm. It’s a place I… wouldn’t be very happy in.” She replied, this time without telepathy, a more somber expression permeating her face as she mentioned the Aetherial Wastes. ‘Wouldn't be very happy’ was an understatement. Althea would rather die and go to hell than return to that nightmare again. Sadly, experiencing true death wasn’t a choice she could make for herself at the moment. No matter how mortally injured, damaged, or tattered she was, she’d automatically be restored to her previous form.

“Naughty…?” She couldn’t help but be dazed by Mythica’s words. “No. I’ve never had a contract before. I don’t know about other spirits, but aetherials such as myself are set to be ‘reverse summoned’ after a set amount of time spent not having a contract.” The blonde spoke in a resolute, slightly-too-fast voice. Usually, such a volume of questions would only elicit annoyance from her, but in these straits, any inconvenience she suffered was completely dwarfed by her fear of once again being pulled out of Earthland. “Your concerns are fine. I’m the one who asked for a contract in the first place. Either way, I doubt that punishment for breaking an agreement exists for spirits of my kind. Something like that is impossible in the first place. We must abide by contracts, even if we don’t want to… Well, at least that’s what my instincts are telling me about the natural laws.”

She shook her head, slightly miffed that she’d need to rely on second-hand information. Granted, a spiritual instinct guided by nature itself was much more reliable than hearsay. “I’m fine. Resting at this time would be a hindrance to me. So, would you like a contract, or do you have more questions…? Wealth, fame, power. I can do it... No, I’m not actually sure about those first two. I just included them to try and sound more convincing.” Althea said plainly, her eyes narrowing as she entered deep thought. “You can already control time… but I suppose the ‘power’ offer is still valid. However, if you need someone to make your bed every day or do your laundry, I’d be willing to do that as well.” She didn’t have knowledge of the vast majority of household chores apart from those two, but she opted to omit that fact.

As the World Caves In [Mythica] Empty Re: As the World Caves In [Mythica]

Post by Mythica 10th January 2023, 3:20 pm

The day had gotten far more interesting than Mythica could have anticipated. You’d think with magic to manipulate time she’d be able to see some of these encounters coming, though unfortunately even she did not possess that kind of precognition. At least not without some serious magical power. Althea was certainly a strange being to be sure, one that Mythica was fairly interested in learning more and more about. She had already revealed that she was a spirit, though the specifics of which the chronomancer could never be sure of. At least not while Althea was writhing on the ground in agony. However, it seemed her plan had more or less worked, the burst of magic freezing everything around them completely still, including whatever magic that had been in the process of eating Althea’s body. It was a gamble to be sure, as Mythica was not exactly certain how the magic affecting Althea would react to another type attempting to block off the spell. Of course, it wasn’t a permanent solution unfortunately. The second the clock continued to tick Mythica suspected the spirit’s body would go back to fading. Though Althea seemed fairly determined to prevent that from happening.

When Althea finally realized that Mythica’s spell had frozen her demise the girl reacted in a way Mythica more or less expected. Fear of the unknown is a truly gripping condition, especially when it comes in the form of a small woman. Still, she always felt that it was fairly strange that in a world overflowing with magical power that people were still surprised. Though, she couldn’t really blame them. Time magic wasn’t exactly common practice these days, and very very few people had gone to the same extreme lengths that the blood wolf had to master her magic. Mythica tried to take little notice of Althea’s fear, doing her best to persuade the spirit that she wasn’t a threat. Well, at least not to her. Even if Althea’s proposal hadn’t tickled Mythica’s curiosity the fact that she was a friend of Mura’s was enough to dissuade herself of any darker ideas. She would try and help this spirit if she could, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t have any fun with this situation either. Of course Mythica got the sense that Althea was far more terrified of what could have happened to her had Mythica not intervened. Something the spirit confirmed when she finally managed to open her mouth.

“Aetherial plains?” Mythica would question aloud, her expression changing slightly at the mention of the other world. In all her time realm-walking Mythica hadn’t encountered such a place, though anything was possible. Especially if it were a realm that only spirits like Althea could access, though it was painfully obvious that not all of them wanted to. Mythica tilted her head slightly when Althea gave what the chronomancer could assume was a watered down version of the truth, though it was clear the spirit wasn’t too keen on speaking further about it. Instead she would simply bow her head in response. “It really wasn’t much trouble, my dear.” She’d start. “If I see someone writhing in the dirt it’s only natural to try and assist them.” the blood wolf would say, her smile never fading.

As Althea continued to speak it became increasingly obvious that she wasn’t like any spirit Mythica had encountered. Normally they were annoying things that only bothered you when they wanted something, but had nothing to offer in return. In those cases Mythica would simply snatch their souls, taking from them what little their dead forms had. That and the infamous celestial spirits, though Mythica had yet to meet a wizard with any of the golden zodiac keys. Of course, Althea wasn’t the spirit of a dead girl. At least, as far as Mythica could tell, anyways. She called herself an aetherial, something foreign to Mythica. Though she had gone into more detail, explaining that she had always been on a time limit for as long as she had no contracts. A concept similar to the celestial spirits Mythica pondered, though with some key differences. Said differences being the reason Althea seemed so insistent on forming a contract with the blood wolf.

“Sounds like a fulfilling existence. Always listening to others, even against your better nature.” Mythica would chuckle with a sarcastic tone. “Though I find myself wondering how long you’ve been walking Earthland without a contract. You aetherials must have plenty of time to find someone if you’ve been without one since you arrived in this world.” She’d continue before frowning slightly. “Or well.. *had* the clock-eyed witch would remind herself. “How lucky you are to have a contract wizard at your service!” Mythica would finish, flashing a slightly fanged grin. When Althea mentioned that it shouldn’t be possible for her kind to break their contracts the girl blinked a few times and tilted her head. “That sounds dangerous.” She’d snicker, her mind thinking of all the destruction one could wreak if they had the right spirit. Of course Mythica had to be careful, her plans and schemes couldn’t be revealed to anyone. Especially to a girl who was friends with her husband. Mura had already seen what kind of monster lurked in her veins during the border skirmishes… She couldn’t afford to traumatize him with any more of the truth.

As Althea grew impatient to form a contract Mythica simply put her hands behind her back and giggled, clearly entertained by the situation. At Althea’s suggestions for what she could offer Mythica the time witch turned back towards the frozen sun, her smirk never fading. “Oh, you have more to give than you know. Just saving your life is reward enough for me.” Mythica would say again. “I will form a contract with you Althea, though you don’t need to worry about becoming a slave. The world often calls me out to wander its vast expanses, during which time I’ll have little need of a spirit’s help. You may do as you please, continue your life as you see fit. When the time comes that I’ll need your help, you’ll know.” She would say with a respectful tone. “After all, any friend of Mura is a friend of mine.” She’d finish with a warm smile.
