Updates to Items of the Month / Oddities

'ello my lovely people.
Someone brought this to my attention a while back and now I have been approached once again, so I suppose it is best to officially make a thread like this. This is a place where you can hand in Items of the Month and Oddities that can be considered outdated in the context of the Magic Rules and I will rewrite them to fit the current ruleset. Please only submit Items of the Month and Oddities you actually own. If you aren't happy with the reworks I present I can always offer alternate solutions, but please know that certain abilities that are too broken / overpowered in the context of current rules will be replaced if identified as such. If you aren't happy with the end product, I can offer you a refund for the original purchase price of the Item of the Month / Oddity in question in Jewels, though only if you were the person who purchased it originally. I think that would be the best compromise in such cases.

Please also note that reworks might take a bit. I'm a busy bee irl and I can't do everything at once, as much as I want to.

@Samira Nassar I tried to keep the rework of this as faithful to the original, but as you undoubtedly know, this was in need of some proper rework. I rebalanced it a little and also tried to keep both aesthetic and reworked / new abilities consistent with what one might get these days for the price you paid for this Summoning Key. Not only does she make for an excellent partner in combat, but her wisdom and friendly personality can be of use at just about any given time, especially when one feels lonely. I largely left the ring as it was, though updated some wording to work better with current rules, reworked the formatting of the item to current standards, and reworked the last ability into an active ability with its associated template. Once per thread and for the duration of one post, the user can instantly manifest a shield that takes the form of a light pink bubble with a radius of 5 meters around themselves. While perhaps not visually impressive, the durability of this shield is extreme, so extreme, in fact, that it can absorb any and all attacks, no matter how extensive or brutal they are, protecting the user and everything inside the bubble at all costs. This shield cannot be pierced by any kind of spell or ability, under any circumstance, no matter what the spell or ability in question might say. It is simply not possible. Still, however, there is a drawback associated with the durability of this shield, being the sensitive instability of the barrier and the ring's still limited power. Once the barrier has taken a single spell, ability, melee attack, etc. and absorbed it, regardless of how high its damage was or if it did damage at all, it will vanish, leaving the user to their own devices once more.[/color]

Did you perhaps touch an artifact you shouldn't have touched, read something you weren't supposed to, talked to someone who you really shouldn't have talked to, come into contact with something you really weren't meant to know? Well, the fact that you know of it is enough. One day, you learned of a world beyond our own, beyond Earthland, perhaps contained on a different plane, in a different time entirely, and then impressions flooded your mind. I've heard the story before, to be honest. There are others like you. You see magnificent cities of steel and steam. The grinding of gears, the hissing of pipes, and of course, the rambling of eccentric folk fill their streets, massive machines floating through their skies, barreling through their alleyways, cut through their waves. It is a strange world, unlike our own, it would seem. They are people, humans, I mean, but their's is different entirely. You see it all, and then, in a flash, it is gone. Scary, is it not? Just think about it: A world without magic, without real magic, technology taking its place. It's kind of like those crazy Bosconians, but ... not quite, eh? Anyway, I know that the "revelation", yeah, let's call it that, has given you some ... strange abilities, right? It's almost as if something, or ... someone imparted this knowledge to you and gave you a gift along with it. Maybe they wanted to prevent whatever happened to their world from happening again? Do you think they can influence our's like that? Well, no matter, really. We don't really know what that is, I guess. Just make sure to, you know, make the best of these weird abilities or whatever you wanna call them. Don't be a cog in a machine, or be one, I don't really care either way, but a good gift is best not squandered, wouldn't you agree?

Abilities:

♢ Collection of Curiosity ♢
The prospect of a world beyond our own is just as frightening as it is fascinating, a strange, but interesting world that has many wonders in store, some of them enigmatic, but most of them inspiring, granting them access to otherworldly things most others can only conceptualize in fiction. The user gains a 100% increase to their base Spell Damage as well as a 50% increase to base Spell Durability, base Spell Range, and base Spell Speed. Further, the user gains access to a new type of magic dubbed "Curiosity", which can be used in the creation of magic, enabling them to use both Summon spells and Requip spells in a given magic including the "Curiosity" type, rules and guidelines for both applying to the magic in question. Any additional active Requip slots and active Summon slot the user gains from any source are automatically converted into "Curiosity" slots, which can be used to maintain bot Requip Spells and Summon Spells (acting as replacements for both active Requip slots and active Summon slots). The Benefit levels for "Curiosity" type magic can be found below:

Solitary: Character can have up to 5 Curiosity spells active at once. +75% to Spell Speed and Spell Range.
Primary: Character can have up to 4 Curiosity spells active at once. +50% to Spell Speed and Spell Range.
Auxiliary: Character can have up to 3 Curiosity spells active at once. +25% to Spell Speed and Spell Range.

♢ Otherworldly Boon ♢
Whatever they did to you, it's seemed to mess with your luck, or lack thereof, hm? The user seems to be a little luckier than the average person. For some reason, you will always find yourself benefitting from a 100% increase to all jewel rewards from jobs, as well as a custom piece of equipment equivalent to the rank of the job, following the Tables and FAQ section, that is seemingly found on the job. Equipment gained this way cannot be sold in any shop or traded to other players, but can freely be traded amongst the user's own characters.

♢ Dimensional Blessing ♢
The benefits of the strange abilities extend not just to the user's knowledge, but also their magic. Whatever this extradimensional effect was that took hold of the user, it seemed to unlock something within them, almost akin to an inherent understanding of magic and the intricacies connected to it. The user gains two additional user rank Advanced Spells in every magic containing the "Curiosity" type, ranking with the user up to H+ rank and S+ rank respectively. Lastly, the user gains access to a single additional user rank Signature Spell for every one of their magics, all of them ranking with the user up to S Rank.

♢ Bizarre Fantasy ♢
The user, through the use of this otherworldly dimensional anomaly that seems to affect them, has gained access to properties inherently foreign to this world, interacting with magical energies in strange and unprecedented ways. This grants the user access to 12 additional base effects, which can be assigned to any of the user's spells within any of their "Curiosity" type magics or abilities used in said magics (With the exception of UA's). Only a single additional effect may be assigned per given spell or ability, and it must be noted in the spell itself that an additional effect from this lineage ability is assigned to it, though other than the aforementioned limitations, effects from this lineage ability may be assigned to any given spell or ability slot of any rank or type, granting said spell or ability an additional effect to be used in said spell or ability. The user further receives a passive 250% increase to both Spell Range and Spell Speed.

♢ A Thing most Mystical ♢
Through strange understanding, the user has gained an ability to interact with and draw from this other world, timeline, reality, or whatever the nature of this existence truly is, and produce something not native to this, their own, world. This grants the user access to an additional Advanced Spell slot that must be made and reviewed in conjunction with this lineage, ranking with the user up to H+ Rank. This spell slot can be used to create either a Summon or a Requip, though it must be Steampunk-themed. If a Summon spell is made, the Summon in question will automatically be classed as a "Brass Key" Grade Summon (which can be summoned through the use of a key resembling some sort of otherworldly device, assembled from various ever-moving brass cogs and gears). If a Requip is made, the Requip in question will automatically be classed as a "Specialized" Grade Requip of the user's design. Both a Brass Key Grade Summon and a Specialized Grade Requip will receive 3 abilities total, which can be either active or passive and cost the normal amount of MP to use, otherwise following all rules for either Summon or Requip spells. Both the Brass Key Summon and the Specialized Grade Requip benefit from a 50% base increase to the speed and range of the Summon / Requip spell itself (Note: also the movement speed in the case of the Summon) which can be worked into the Summon's / Requip's base values. A Brass Key Grade Summon or a Specialized Grade Requip, when used, does not count as a Requip / Summon that will contribute towards the user's max active "Curiosity" slot cap. This one was a little tricky because, and I will be honest with you, the original one, when viewed in the context of a modern standpoint, was absolute garbage. Further, the user gains 3 additional Signature Spells in every magic they possess, both of them ranking up with the user up to S rank. [color=red][b]Blizzard's Rage[/b][/color] The power of the Blizzard that once protected the people of this ancient culture is rumored to be terrifying, even if only vague lore and stories remain of its once magnificent power. The user may utilize the same power, granting them a 50% base increase to both their Spell Damage and their Spell Durability in addition to a 100% base increase to both Spell Range and Spell Speed. The user gains a regular 200% increase to both their MP and their Spell Damage. [color=red][b]Frozen Might[/b][/color] The power of frost is something that most people know about and fear for the devastating properties it holds, and the storm that protected the people guarded by the frost was even stronger, holding power that was almost mythical in nature. The power that froze the world around these people to divide them from the rest of Earthland possesses the might to freeze on a conceptual level, freezing even magic power and time itself. The user "freezes" mana immediately around them and slows its flow, resulting in improved retention of magical power that grants them a 50% buff to their Spell Cost Reduction. [color=red][b]Bitter Frigidity[/b][/color] The user is, in a sense, blessed by the frozen storm, as if the concept of a storm was meant to manifest around them to protect their very life their very existence. Once per thread, the user can unleash the full might of the ancient blizzard that protected the people of the Glaciers, summoning a snowstorm that can take truly devastating proportions. When unleashed, this storm will manifest as a swirling wave of incredibly cold wind and frost that spreads out from the user's current position up to 2x user rank advanced Burst range at user rank advanced Burst speed, dealing user rank advanced Burst damage to all those caught within this attack, all up to H+ rank max. This snowstorm will persist where it was summoned for the duration of this ability, which is equal to the maximum duration of a user rank advanced spell up to H+ and continues to deal user rank advanced Burst damage at the beginning of every post to all those who remain within the range of this ability should they not leave the destructive snowstorm. It is undeniable that ever since the beginning of time demonic forces from beyond the comprehension of mortals have sought to influence the fate of Earthland for their own gain. What precisely these demonic forces are and what they plan remains an enigma, though some of their secrets have, over time, reached the hands of those they seek to influence. At one point or another, someone gained access to the demonic secrets of the underworld, detailing their findings in a scroll that would remain lost for the longest time. What exactly happened to the author, though, and whether their move was ever discovered is still a mystery. Still, without doubt, had their misdeed been noticed, the punishment that followed would certainly be horrific. Or, alternatively, perhaps they joined the demonic forces they acquired these secrets from. In the end ... who can truly know?

Abilities:

Infernal Might:
The fate of this scroll's author is uncertain, though the fact remains that they have managed to acquire demonic secrets not meant for the eyes of mortals and record them. This grants the bearer of this scroll deep insight into demonic powers and energies, a method of casting that is not too different from magic, though much more sinister and dark in nature. The user gains access to a new magic type called "Infernal" and is able to use this magic type to create magics. Infernal Magic in itself is not magic per se, but rather the manipulation of demonic energies by the user, similar in effect to casting "Caster" type spells. The benefit levels for Infernal Magic are specified below:

Solitary: +30% increase to base Spell Damage
Primary: +20% increase to base Spell Damage
Auxiliary: +10% increase to base Spell Damage

Demonic Maledict:
Demonic energy, or curses, in other words, are stronger than regular magic, a fact universal to the powers bestowed by the dark beings of old. Demonic power existed before magic did and was used to subjugate mortals for hundreds, if not thousands of years, the darkness of this ability detailed in the scroll reflecting this fact. The user's spells gain a deeply black color to them, no matter their element, and the bearer of the lineage gains an increase to their base Spell Damage and MP equal to 100% each. The user's base Spell Range and base Spell Speed are increased by 50% each.

Power of the Underworld:
Infernal curses resemble magic in effect, though are much stronger and possess far greater destructive capabilities. The user, as a consequence, gains 1 additional Signature Spell slot in any of their magics including the "Infernal" type, 1 additional Advanced Spell slot that ranks up with the user (Up to S+) in any of their magics including the "Infernal" type, and an additional user rank Advanced Spell slot (Up to H+) in any of their magics including the "Infernal" type. Another consequence of infernal curses is that the user barely utilizes magical energy to produce the ancient demonic energy, resulting in a 50% increase to Spell Cost Reduction that applies to the character using the scroll.

Malevolent Protection:
The demonic powers granted to the user are as chaotic as they are enigmatic, making them hard to control, but also hard to work against and counter. Demonic power is naturally more powerful than magic, its use coming with some unique perks. The user's debuffs and drains are unaffected by counter-effects that would affect these two effects in any way, debuffs and drains instead working at full efficiency. Further, the user also gains access to a 5% HP regen per post which is independent of their regular HP regen maximum, meaning the combined total HP regen, including this ability, can reach 20% per post max. Demons, finally, are adept at drafting contracts, making the user more fortunate in that regard. The user gains 100% additional Jewels from completed Jobs.

Cursed Copy:
While magic might be ancient, the curses of times long gone are even older, some even saying that curses have provided the basis for magic and its variations. Regardless of whether this fact is true, curse can certainly do what magic can... and much more. The user can, once per thread, copy a single spell of advanced user rank (Up to H+) they have seen or used in the same thread for free, the bearer of the lineage manifesting the same spell in an ink-black color. This spell, however, is turned into a curse, more powerful than regular magic. The copied spell has its base damage doubled (if including the Offensive Category) before any of the user's buffs or other base damage increases apply.
