Job Title: City of the Undead
Rank: C
Category: Normal/ Job Series
Job Location: Cursed Lands, Silent Cemetery
Solo Word Count: 1,000
Group Word Count: 2,000
Additional Requirements: Must have completed Dearly Departed.
Job Description: It turns out there is more to this undead curse than just being too late to save the person you received the letter from. You did well to clear out the contagious undead around the Abandoned Cabin, but it wasn't an isolated incident and there will be more casualties. It'll only get worse! Investigating the curse itself and trying to find its origin will lead you to what seems to be a large, deserted city. However, the city isn't completely abandoned. There is one lone survivor, a man who used to be a banker but ended up being the city's graveyard master. He'll tell you that he's buried every single one of the city's inhabitants in the cemetery nearby...after he had to kill them himself once they'd become afflicted. He even cut off his own arm just this morning after it was bitten so he wouldn't be cursed himself! He'll also tell you that, unfortunately, this city isn't the origin place. While the curse seems to be a very new development, he remembers clearly the cursed man that wandered in from the forest to the west, freshly infected and not completely turned, mumbling about a guildhall. He fully turned while in the hospital and no one had the stomach to take him out before he'd already spread the curse tenfold. The weary, wounded man is aware that his time he drawing near even as he speaks to you. As night falls, shadows are moving in the distance. This trail ends at the city's cemetery where you hear many moans and heavy movement. Contain the spread here and keep the grave master safe. Only then can you move west to hopefully find the source.
Additional Job Details:
Pros:
+ Negative Magic and Curse magic are 2x as effective in the Cursed Lands.
+ Head Shots deal 2x as much damage to zombies.
+ If you have Holy or Light magic, it will be 2x as effective against the Cursed Land's monsters.
Cons:
- The Cursed lands are filled with malevolent forces and ooze with evil auras. Those who are easily spooked will likely show it in their character's speech, behavioral patterns, and decision making. They will also most likely feel some negative sensory effects.
Enemies:
Frightful Spirit x5
These ghost's bodies are very large and are composed of the human fear their human forms felt before death. They are the spirits of the city folk who have already been laid to rest by the graveyard master. Light purple and transparent, the ghosts have no legs and are comprised of spiritual ectoplasm that can phase through solid objects. These guys radiate an aura of fear and use only that in battle. If they touch you, all your stats will take a 50% debuff for 2 posts. If your health dips below 50% and you are hit, one could even possess your body for a post and take control. It takes 2x C rank spell damage to send them to the great beyond, as any melee attacks will go right through and cause the aforementioned effects.
Enemy Rank: Weak
Ghoul x5
Ghouls are the lower form of Zombie with nearly completely rotted flesh and parts of their bones exposed in various parts of their disgusting body. The average size of a Ghoul is 4 to 6 feet tall and is consumed with an insatiable hunger for living flesh. The Ghouls are fairly easy to kill but watch out if they bite you, the curse's energy can transfer to a new host. If you become infected and don't treat the wound within three posts then your character's body slowly starts to rot dealing D rank damage per post. A single C ranked attack will kill your opponent and they do C ranked damage as well.
Enemy Rank: Weak
Zombie Brute x1
A very large and buff mutated Zombie. The result of many undead city folk being melded into one, this creature has halted its organic decay and evolved into a superior Zombie. This creature stands at 8 to 10 feet and can easily crush stone with its bare hands. The Brute is very big, very fast, and very strong. Each of its attacks cause a small localized tremor and deals 2x C Ranked damage with a 1 post stun. Itis bite deals 3x C rank damage and afflicts you with the curse that rots the flesh for D ranked per post if left untreated. 5x C Rank damage will send them to the great beyond.
Enemy Rank: Strong
Necrozombie Assistant x1
The Necrozombie is a new arrival to the town, serving to organize the cursed zombies that remain and control their movements to maximize the spread of the curse. He doesn't look much like a zombie other than his dull complexion and prominent, unhealed bite mark on his forearm. He is well clothed and still possesses the human abilities to think and speak, though it is somewhat clear he is either being controlled by or at least fanatically devoted to a "master". In battle he can manipulate his bones to make his hands into claws that deal fierce slashing 3x C ranked damage. His infectious bite deals C Ranked Curse damage that rots the flesh for D ranked per post if left untreated. The creature also possesses the ability to summon a pack of nearby Ghouls with a mighty wail that causes C ranked damage to anything within 15 feet with ears that can hear.
10x C Rank damage will send them to the great beyond.
Enemy Rank: Boss
Caelestis had been right, in the end. The man hadn’t followed him, and for that he was grateful, but the trail of undead had lead him to a large, abandoned city. It wasn’t some isolated incident like he’d hoped, and at this point he was starting to get annoyed. This wasn’t even a treasure hunt, just a mystery! But he had to continue on. He’d found the graveyard keeper in no time, and after hearing his story, reluctantly decided to keep on the path of getting to the bottom of this mystery. After all, if he didn’t, who else would? Certainly not the man who had irritated him for the entire first part of this little adventure.
Now, he had a trail to follow.
The city was eerily silent as he walked, almost nothing except the noises he made could be heard. And that didn’t sit right with him, the smell of rot and the utter silence putting him on high alert. He was almost positive that something was going to jump out to attack him at any moment, all of his senses straining to find the source of the increasingly bad feeling he had. He couldn’t say he was easily spooked, but this whole thing set any anxiety he might have buried within himself on edge. Everything felt so much more intense right now, even the clicking of his shoes on the pavement was loud enough to make him wince. What was this? Some kind of effect from the curse over this place?
