    Earthland News Network
The number one source of honest news

The news screen would pop up on every technological device capable on the planet, reading in large font “Breaking News Bulletin”. As the graphic faded away, a blonde woman, standing against the backdrop of snow-capped mountains, would stare hard at the camera. Her demeanor was as serious as any professional reporter’s but there was no missing the dark circles under her eyes and the splotches on her cheeks, evidence of tears shed. As she got the gesture from the man behind the camera, her stanced stiffened slightly and she brought the microphone up to her mouth. “Good afternoon, I’m Liliana Taberski of the Earthland News Network. Tragedy has struck the world today, on a day where we had all hoped that the foundation for a peaceful future would be created. Felidae City, the largest city in Joya and the host of the Isghar Symposium, has been attacked and almost completely wiped off the map.”

Her voice shuddered slightly before she caught herself from breaking character. “Reports are hazy at the moment and our attempts to move an investigative crew in have been, thus far, blocked by Joyan officials and the accompanying Rune Knights. Eyewitnesses are being moved away from our reporters but one of our teams captured this single snapshot before they were shut down by the Joyan officials.” The screen would flip over to a still image of a devastating crater. Dark, black smoke was frozen in towering plumes around the earthly indent and the only signs of any kind of established civilization were the buildings that had managed to avoid being caught up in the blast.

The screen flicked back to Liliana as she gestured towards the mountains behind her. “As you can see, the complete and utter devastation has nearly wiped out Felidae City completely and with a city that was calculated to have over three million residents, delegates and tourists, it’s harrowing to think of the number that have lost their lives this day. Our own star reporter, Ashline Bariat, was within the city’s limits reporting on the Ishgar Symposium when the tragedy struck. While footage of her last moments has been recorded, the Earthland News Network has chosen not to show the footage for the sake of respecting Ashline’s family. We have been ushered beyond the city’s limits, as we’ve been told that a barbaric band of brigands from Desierto are still moving towards the city and have, thus far, gone unchecked. No doubt the attention is being focused on helping survivors of the attack to escape before the Desiertian army arrives and causes further damage. We will be continuously covering the aftermath of this attack and will be the first to provide details as they come out. For Earthland News Network, I’m Liliana Taberski.”
