Since Michael’s conception, his parents knew there was something strange about him that makes him different from his other twin siblings. While the others had blue, green, and purple eyes, his eye color was a deep ruby red. Records have shown that people with these red eyes from where they lived usually exhibited no potential for magic, unable to take in or harness ethernanos around them, and this was an extremely rare trait to have. However, they do possess supernatural abilities such as seeing things from a different point of view and from afar, contacting the dead, and such. They were regarded as Psychics, espers who use the power of their own psychic energy to manipulate the world around them. Though this could also be traced back to Michael's lineage as being part Pergrandian from his mother's side, the red eyes does not exactly explain anything save for the former explanation.
Only two such Psychics were known from this generation - aside from him, the avian oni Halcyon also possesses such psychic abilities, with the ability to move objects with his mind. His mastery over his telekinetic abilities has allowed him to manipulate several weapons at once, clashing steel with those who dare oppose him, and has garnered the title of ‘Blade Dancer of the East’. Michael awoke to his psychic power when he displayed similar telekinetic abilities on a spoon. And has, since then, continued to hone and master his psychic abilities.
His psychic power grew as he confronted the sleeping god of R’lyeh, Cthulhu, and in its attempt to subdue and absorb the psyche of Halcyon, manifesting through Michael’s intense emotion of anger, it backfired as the winged oni instead absorbed its powers to himself, or rather, themselves. In addition to this, Michael was able to reap the benefits of the outer realm, granting him a few nifty tricks up his sleeve.
ↁ Psyche
Due to the unique circumstances of his birth, Michael is unable to absorb the ethernanos around him, instead relying on his supernatural control over matter with a display of a wide array of psychic abilities, mainly telekinetic powers, and use them for his own benefit. He does not use MP. Instead of Stamina Points (SP), his resource is named ‘Psyche’, or PSI for short. PSI buffs affect his maximum PSI. Cthulhu, a creature born from the outer realm, was gifted enormous physical endurance in its conception. Unique to Cthulhu, however, he is also more resistant to the manipulation of the mind as expected of an eldritch god who sends those who see him in bouts of madness. Just as the outer realm has bestowed upon it these traits, the same gift flows through him. Michael is granted a 50% Damage Resistance buff, benefitting from Cthulhu's otherworldly lineage. However, due to the nature of this gift, it makes it difficult for him to mend wounds. His base spell healing and technique healing is both reduced by 50%. 1 effectↁ Psionic Mastery
Owing to his mother's lineage as a Pergrandian, and quite possibly due to the circumstances of his birth, Michael was born with the ability to manipulate matter to his own will. This ability of his was further honed after years of continuous use, and after his reawakening as an esper, he has sought to further enhance his own supernatural abilities. He gains two additional advanced spell slots - one capping at H+ Rank and the other capped at S+ Rank, both of which must be allocated to one magic. In addition, years of constant use has allowed him to reach objects further and faster with his supernatural abilities. He gains a 50% base increase in Technique Range and Technique Speed, at the cost of a 50% base reduction in Spell Range and Spell Speed. Due to Cthulhu’s origin and the consequential absorption of its powers, Michael is granted an unquestioned veritable source of wealth, as well as a bounty from the outer realm’s armory. He does not want to figure out the why’s and the how’s of this peculiar phenomena, and he will not question it. Whenever Michael accomplishes a job posting, he gains 100% additional Jewel rewards. The outer realm works in mysterious ways, and has seen it fit to grant him a custom equipment of his choosing in which its grade is equivalent to the job that was completed. This equipment can be made manifest in any number of ways, such as a sudden completion of a manufactured weapon or an instant materialization of an item from thin air. One unique trait about his psionic abilities is that they are tied to his emotions and current state of mind. He has trained himself to control his emotions so that he can unleash his devastating psionic abilities without the need to be in an emotional state. His base strength is increased by 50%, amplifying the damage he deals with his melee attacks and techniques.
