Wedding Officiate ● Syn Empty Wedding Officiate ● Syn

Post by Syndrome 21st June 2021, 10:51 am

Unknownst to most except for locals or those who had spent some of their time around Solemn Park, there was a lovely chapel nearby. The city hall of Talonia was not very far from the chapel, either, which made it a popular marriage spot among locals. After spending several days here in Talonia for various small missions and personal endeavors, Syn had become aware of this situation. Since so many civilians got married in this area, the process of achieving a wedding officiate license was quite simple. A person only needed to schedule an appointment with a clerk at the city hall and then show up on time, prepared to learn. It was a relief that studying before the appointment was not a requirement. Instead, the clerk there would give Syn a small lesson before administering a test and discussing whether she had passed or failed.

However, she had heard that some of the government workers at this office were more strict than others when it came to these lessons and tests. To her, that made complete sense, although it wasn't probably the best thing. Uneven or unequal treatment of students and test takers would only lead to a lack of uniformity among those who had licenses to marry individuals to each other. Syn was in no position to correct this scenario of mismatched workers, so she would just have to live with whatever experience she received.

Much to her relief, she was greeted by a calm looking woman who introduced herself as the clerk going to provide Syn's lesson and proctor her test today. Although the official was very clear and concise with explaining everything, Syn somehow felt like she was burdening her. Perhaps it was the way she talked. Every syllable felt a bit forced, and there was certainly an atmosphere to rushing within it all. At least that was better than being bombarded with messy and useless information, she figured. All in all, Syn couldn't mind the demeanor of this clerk and she carefully listened to what the woman had to say.

Once they were finished with the quick lessons, the clerk told her, "I'll give you up to another thirty minutes to study if you need it. Any more and you may not have enough time for the test, since we change shifts in forty five minutes and you will need at least fifteen to complete the test."

Syn nodded and also verbally expressed her agreement. She could tell that this person was simply doing their job and had no hard feelings about the time restraints. Furthermore, if possible, she intended to complete her final review and studying in a shorter period of time. Since she was getting the sensation that this woman did not really want to be here, she wouldn't waste her time. Cracking her knuckles, Syn got to work. The memorization process was straightforward, especially since this clerk had only taught Syn the bare minimum in order to become a wedding officiate. After less than ten minutes, she let the woman know she was ready to take the test, and roughly fifteen minutes after that, the clerk accepted back the completed papers.

"Congratulations, you passed. I'll be right back with your license." Syn waited patiently as the woman disappeared behind a door, reemerging less than five minutes later with a small card and a certificate in hand. Taking it with her, Syn allowed herself to be shoe'd out of the office... a painless process overall.
