Shit, maybe it was a bad idea after all…

Toketsu was the newest member of Fairy Tail, accepted into the guild’s ranks by Aven after a little test had been passed out. Akin to Nymara, Akemi, Althea, Zachary and Mitsuo, Toketsu possessed a Magic that focuses on the elemental embodiment of dragons – Dragon Slayer Magic. His element had been that of ice, the coldness and solidification of vapor, water and mist to form the glacial components for combat purposes. It held tremendous potential… just like it did in the hands of Hana…

Toketsu would have to develop his Magic constantly. That was how mages grew stronger and stronger throughout time; practice, experience and resolve. Henceforth, Mura brought him along to Talonia where a little, unofficial tournament had been held up. Toketsu had little say in this; Mura had already signed him up.

The tournament dealt with follows; each participant was to choose a wooden weapon from the stand near the entrance to the white, round floor that was the battlefield. The wooden weapons were decorated, painted and formed to resemble various weaponry:

Mura simply leaned over the fence among the audience while Toketsu was called out to choose his weapon for the tournament. His first opponent, a ninja-dressed battler nicknamed Lynx, had already chosen three-clawed knuckle blades and was waiting for the Fairy Tail Dragon Slayer to enter the arena with his weapon.

Toketsu was officially a member of Fairy Tail. He had been for over a week and since then both Frost and he were getting to know the way of the land. He also made sure to learn the names of certain members.

The person he knew the most was none other than the guild master. It was a surprise how often they saw each other considering that a guild master had lots of responsibilities.

He still wasn’t able to speak with any of the other dragon slayers. He would make a note that the first opportunity he got to speak with one of em, he would take it. He was especially interested in the fire dragon slayer. She had a dragon parent like him and that was enough to make him want to ask her if she knew anything about his very own parent’s disappearance.

While sitting around like he usually did, the master approached him and told him about a tournament that he was taking the young dragon slayer to. This meant fighting and honing skills. The first question was if he would be able to take Frost and fight with her by himself. ”Master, this tournament? Will I be able to partner with Frost?”

On arrival, Toketsu would notice the weaponry displayed. It looked like he was supposed to pick one. ”Is it necessary that I select a weapon?” He could see his ninja dressed opponent as he spoke.

Unfortunately, due to strict rules in the tournament, Frost wasn’t allowed to aid Toketsu in his battle – however, the white-haired freshman seemed quite used to fighting alongside his cute companion, in which he would also need to learn how to fight battles on his own in case things go south between their teamwork. Mura knew all too well that the world wasn’t generous enough to allow Frost and Toketsu to fight under flawless conditions at all times… they would have to learn how to adapt, improvise and overcome any challenge coming their way. That was the way of Fairy Tail!

Mura’s head nodded excitingly: “Yup! Trust me, it’s not as bad as you think! It helps a lot with building focus and flow in your movements if you wield a weapon, so just choose whatever you think will fit you and your style…”

“He says that it’s important and all, but he just wanna see his guildmates wield more weapons; Mura’s kinda grown into a fan of arms!”

“Second that, just look at his eyes…”

Mura’s eyes were full of stars, akin to a child awaiting presents at Christmas Day. Look at all those beautiful weapons… what was Toketsu going to choose? What weapon suited his style? Was he a spearman? Or was he more of a type to swing a morning star around the stage, gaining as much range as possible? Or was he more of a close quarters type of guy who was a killer with a pair of short cutlasses? Maybe he was more of a heavy arms guy, or maybe a simple katana guy?
