Artemis wandered through the door of his apartment, letting out a sigh coupled with both exhaustion and relief. It was so good to be home, he had spent a few days at the guild to catch up on an overload of paperwork that had built up throughout the week. Now that he was finally done, he could go home, get a good night sleep, binge a bit of television before he was forced to drag himself back there. His mind wandered to Siv, the hint of frustration over not being able to see his girl during this brief flicker of time off increasing his ire. He trudged up the stairs, the trip felt longer than usual but that was likely because he was so keen to get inside. As he opened the door to his living room, shutting it swiftly behind him, he leaned back against it for a moment. Allowing the strain from the day to wash away in a moment of peace -
“Hello Artemis.” He froze, every muscle in his body stiffening up at the familiar voice that rang through his apartment. That cold, dissatisfied tone causing every fibre of his being to want to peg it back out that door and not look back. He left out a second sigh, fleeing would do no good, this encounter was something that even he couldn’t avoid. Straightening up, he pushed himself off the door and wandered over to his kitchen where his unwelcome visitor awaited him, nursing a dry bourbon.
“Hello Mother.”
