    Event Stuff:

It was that time again. Festivals were scattered all over Fiore and possibly the world to celebrate the changing of seasons. This time for the coming of fall. The harvest theme was everywhere, kids were donning costumes, and there were enough tricks and treats for all. Like before for the summer festival, a certain summoner and God of Ishgar wanted to take part in the festivities. Normally she would have been away from civilization in general or just not even be thinking about such a thing as partying and silly games, but the last one she attended was fun. Weird in a way actually, but still fun. And so it was all set up. The woman had picked a location where a festival had been set up for the locals and traveled there to have some fun. This time she didn't make the mistake of taking the wrong turn and getting lost. No. She knew right where to go! Which given the location was quite concerning if it had been done purposely.

It occurred to Samira at some point that she didn't want to attend the festival alone like she had planned before. Things were made more interesting because of the pair of mages she had encountered along the way. Inviting them to the newest festival made sense, right? Yes, yes it did. And so invitations were sent! One to the Wizard Saint of Courage where her apple bobbing skills may be needed once more! Not really actually since there were no apple bobbing games that she was aware of, but Samira made sure to make her company and appearance in this festival seem super important in that letter! It was a mission! A mission to entertain Samira and have some fun for herself as well! Provided she attended, of course. Leona was probably a very busy person much like herself. But that didn't mean they couldn't be busy people together! In a developing bond of friendship through festival!

The other letter was sent to Ruvel, the God of Resilience! Who really should have been the god of ridiculously hard to get a hold of if you weren't on the list of super important people. From what Samira recalled before he was in a sort of hiding and out of the public eye. Getting him to come to a festival was going to be a challenge with the high possibility of him not attending even if he did receive the letter. Speaking of, that paper of importance took quite a deal of effort to get sent. Rather than mail it normally, or through Samira's cheating mail portal from a past job, she had to have her spirits figure out a way to get it to him. If anything were going to get to Ruvel it would have to get through his own summons first to do it. And so, that mission was left to her spirits. As far as she knew, they completed it somehow, someway, after some time of figuring out where even those summons were and getting there. That or they just lied to her about being successful. There was a 50/50 chance for either side to be what really happened. Regardless, the letter for him was inviting him to attend the festival like the last one so he could get another chance to have some fun instead of being hidden away wherever he was. The poor boy needed to get out more. It also wouldn't hurt for him to bond more with herself and Leona so he could add some additional friends.

Actually, Samira going through all of that was probably her own spirits telling her that she needed more friends. Well, they were probably right. Those were pretty few so she may as well take the time to enjoy the festival with others before she goes back to being herself. It was going to be grand! It was going to be fun! It was going to be... set up around a haunted castle? A haunted castle that at one point she was trapped in and everything inside it wanted to eat her and her soul. Samira still had no idea what happened to the other girl that was with her at the time. Probably still trapped in there somewhere. Lost. Wailing. Being tortured. Dead. Yeah, she was probably dead. Well! It was a good thing the festival was set up outside the castle instead of inside it. That made it okay and safe, right? The locals seemed to think so.

The lights of the festival could be seen far and wide as nighttime approached, and the music rang in the air. Decorations were everywhere with various attractions set up all around, taking up all the available space that there was, besides what was intentionally left there for the crowd to get through of course. Samira herself was looking at the various shop stalls near the festival's entrance while she waited for Leona and Ruvel to show up, if they showed up at all. Like before she was dressed differently than usual, wearing a dress for the abnormal occasion. Unlike before, it wasn't a color that represented the change of seasons. Looking like a pumpkin was not on her agenda ever. Regardless, she should have been easy to find while she busied herself with buying some trinkets as souvenirs. Or perhaps the two recipients of her invitations would become distracted with other things before finding her. Who knew what could happen with this haunted castle party.

    -Haunted Castle-

Dismounting her Winged Lion summon after landing in a deserted clearing on the outskirts of the castle, Leona dispelled it to avoid scaring the thin line of people streaming towards the festival by having a lion at her side. Once the summon was dispelled Leona smoothed out the skirt to her green-and-gold outfit and checked to make sure that her knife had not gotten loose in her right boot. Leona had left all of her weapons at the guild hall except for the knife because she would be in the company of Ruvel and Samira for this festival. If three of Earthland's most famous and powerful mages could not handle any threats that popped up at the festival, Earthland was in deep trouble.

While Leona carried her knife as a backup weapon, she wore her ever-present Argent Gloves for their defensive properties as well as their status as an iconic item of the Wizard Saint of Courage. She also wore them for their strength-boosting properties... if any heavy lifting needed to be done the blonde could lift weights up to twenty tons with ease thanks to her gloves. In between the knife and her Argent Gloves the Wizard Saint should have all the equipment she needed to get through the festival without undue trouble.

Leona carefully made her way through the clearing and emerged from the underbrush between some trees to join a small cluster of seven wary festival-goers for the brief walk to the castle grounds. Her unexpected arrival alarmed them because two older men reached for swords on their right hip before they realized that she was not one of the local hazards and left their weapons in their scabbards. Everyone visibly relaxed and let the Wizard Saint join them without further reservations; the people kept an awed silence and a respectful distance as the group approached the castle grounds. Leona could see the glow of the lights get closer and she could hear the music carried on the wind with each step.

Once the group reached the safety of the festival grounds the Wizard Saint and the locals amicably parted ways to enjoy the festivities however they saw fit. Leona began to wander the festival in search of Ruvel and Samira, trying to get into the mood required to fully appreciate the festival. It was hard to do because the Haunted Castle was looming over the festival grounds and Leona knew of the dangers that were lurking within. She halfway expected the double doors to swing open and discharge an army of zombies, werewolves, vampires, or a mix of all three to terrorize the festival-goers. Maybe Henry Capella could keep the denizens of his castle under control for tonight.

Leona reached out with her magic-sensing abilities and homed in on the strongest magic signature in the area, which undoubtedly belonged to Samira. The blonde wound her way through a section of booths that sold all manner of souvenirs like small ceramic pumpkins, plush jack-o-lanterns with faithfully reproduced carved-on eyes and smiles, and more items than Leona had time to fully examine. After a short search she eventually found Samira, who was wearing a simple outfit of a white long-sleeved shirt and long black skirt with black belt. In contrast to the simple but nice-looking outfit that Samira wore, Leona's constant wearing of the green-and-gold outfit made her look like she only had one pair of clothing, which made Leona look sort of sad.

Ruvel had given her a beautiful blue-and-white outfit at the Midsummer festival, but Leona opted to wear the green-and-gold one because her mother had made it for her several months ago. However, sentimental value should not prevent Leona from expanding her wardrobe at some point. That task could wait because the blonde spotted Samira browsing at some souvenirs.

"Hey Samira!" Leona greeted the Goddess of Humility with a raised hand.

    Nothing Could Go Wrong Here

It was starting to bug the youth that he was being kept in complete isolation, even when he had been at the facility he was raised within he was still able to move around and talk to people within the desolate ruins they called home. He knew he should really forget about that place and concentrate on moving forward but where he might be living better he still had his freedom removed from him and that scared him. He understood that his summons were doing what they believed best for him but this was his like they were playing god with, he just took their decisions not really seeing the point of arguing as he would lose. "I am going to lose my mind staying in a barren freezer you know." he called out knowing at least one of his summons or one of the snow elves watched over him at all times. "That might be true but you didn't lose it in that hell, being here with us will not do you harm." said a gentle and warm voice, even without being able to see he knew the voice of his former summon Seyuki "How is the snow beneath the moon?" he asked standing his hand going to his chest as he bowed forward slightly "As content as ever, how is the moon gracing the beautiful snow?" she asked in return "Still unable to see its beauty." he said standing straight once more before sitting down knowing he shouldn't even bother tried moving forward "I see, the eclipse seems never ending and the snow weeps." she said moving to his side. "So why has the snow came to the moon on this eve?" he asked what many would be seen as a strange code.

"It seems the harvest will be joining us soon, the harvest requires a moon for a blessing." she said with a warm smile, this made the youth blink under his bandage "The moon is unable to give blessings, the moon is an eclipse it is very hard even if the moon could do such a thing." he replied to her making her chuckle lightly her sleeve going to her mouth as she did "I am here so that the eclipse will not be so much of an issue." she said to him making him look confused. "The gates that guard the moon are open and the snow will play guide?" he asked her "Yes, it seemed like the spirit sent a request for the moon's grace and was granted by the gates." she explained to him as she helped him stand, he didn't care where the hell he was going or what he was going to be doing he was just glad that he was getting out of the castle that had become his prison. "Do you think the moon will be able to visit family?" he asked her, she paused for a moment "I don't know if the moon's gates will permit it but we can see." she said taking his hand and started guiding him towards the exit "You said that the spirits requested the moon's grace, how did the gates find it out about it?" he had to ask making her chuckle "The spirits invaded the noble chambers of darkness." she commented which made him stop.

"Did they get out alright? Those of the darkness are very protective of their nobles." he asked concern heard in his voice as a snow seemed to cover them, once disapated they wouldn't be in the Silent glaciers but in the festival square. "Yes, but that might be because the noble darkness was expecting them, nothing catches them off guard after all." she informed him making him smile nodding "That is a relief, I would hate to have to explain why her spirits went back containing a few more holes." he said quietly knowing just how protective those of the void were of their royals, he had seen it first hand. "I smell pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, clover..." he said sniffing at the air a little "It is autumn so this is normal." she said with a smile, Ruvel could only nod as where this had been his second autumn out of the facility it was still his first time at a festival for it.

Ruvel at current was dressed in a white loose shirt, white overcoat that was open and loose, black loose trousers and brown boots. Seiyuki was dressed in a beautiful ornate vibrant red kimono with a golden kimono and golden leaves embrodered into it. "It seems like the moon has found stars." she whispered leading him over to Samira and Leona "Sorry for keeping you both waiting." he said his hand going to his chest bowing forward "This is the maiden of snow Seiyuki." he said introducing the snow woman beside him, as she was introduced she elegantly bowed "The snow is pleased to greet the stars." she said warmly "I am the guide for the moon as requested by the gates." she said warmly "She basically said that she's my eyes and that those that are contracted to me have trusted her to look after me." he didn't think his companions stupid but the former summon's race had a strange way of speaking. "You realise one of your summons barged into Shindara and Amuul's personal chambers Miss Nassar." he said letting the other know how the message ended up getting delivered

Nothing Could Go Wrong Here (Private, Event, Leona and Ruvel) Empty Re: Nothing Could Go Wrong Here (Private, Event, Leona and Ruvel)

Post by Samira Nassar 19th September 2019, 10:53 pm

Samira was having a grand time looking at all the displayed trinkets and such. There were so many interesting things, and while she could technically buy all of them that probably would not be very appropriate or responsible. But it was so hard to choose! Even more so when she saw kids and adults alike seeming to enjoy them so, especially with the ones with certain magical properties. Some sort of potion bottles, "friendship bracelets", and magic light sticks to name a few. She had only gotten around to seeing about getting the light sticks, thinking that even as toys that one would be useful at any point in time, when she heard a familiar voice call out to her. Still holding onto one of the wooden staves that she had been looking at, Samira turned away from the mini shop to face the blonde that greeted her. With a warm and ecstatic smile, she raised her free hand and waved. "Hi! I see you made it!" The woman turned back to the shop and quickly paid for the wooden toy, and then turned her attention away from the shop so she could move closer and interact with the other woman.

"I am glad you decided to come. I was beginning to think it would just be me here." Not that, that was a bad thing, but the whole point was for her to not be alone, so it was nice that at least one of the two she invited showed up. "I hope you had no trouble on the way here. This place and the area around it does have its horror stories, but the locals must have a way of containing it for at least one night. Nothing horrible has happened yet, aside from a few people getting turned into toads." Samira lifted the wooden stave and pointed its green jeweled tip in the direction of an old tent where people were standing outside it drinking potions and going through different effects. The effects didn't last long as everyone seemed to return to normal soon after, implying that Samira's words about people turning into toads was pretty harmless and in good tricky fun. Her verdant gaze left the tent and focused back on the blonde "You got stronger since last we met, I see," Samira commented with a gentle smile. It was an observation that was hard to miss. The magic signature, while the same in composition, was altered in its strength and power levels. Perhaps soon Samira would not be alone at the top of the rank pyramid that the Magic Council felt the need to make. Well, alone as far as known mages went. There were bound to be unknown ones scattered around the world no one knew about. Still, Samira enjoyed knowing that Leona had come a long way since she saw the woman duel in the last Fairy Tail Festival.

It wasn't long after that Ruvel also made his appearance. He started off by apologizing for keeping them waiting and bowed. He was just as polite as last time. The woman beside him that was wearing quite the stunning outfit was also introduced. A maiden of snow, was she? Samira would not have guessed that by the warm coloring of the kimono. It was quite bold, but maybe that was the point. Seiyuki would have certainly stood out if she were surrounded by snow. Probably would have been a very pretty sight actually. Just like Ruvel, and really pretty much any of his guides and summons that she had met so far, Seiyuki was just as polite and even graceful in her movements. She spoke different than most, but with a little thinking the clues in her words could be used to accurately translate it. Samira found it interesting to listen to, and thought it worthy enough to make an entry in her notes about it in the future for knowledge purposes. Ruvel translated her words for them, which was appreciated even if probably unnecessary.

Well now that they were there Samira was about to greet them both, but that was stopped when Ruvel mentioned something she really did not want to hear. Her mouth dropped open at hearing that one of her spirits had barged into the personal chambers of two of Ruvel's guides and summons. She was embarrassed and her face went red for a moment even after she tried laughing it off. "Hahaha... is that right? I am sure that one did not mean to be so rude as to go that route at making sure you got the invitation." More like she had hoped none of them would be so rude or that stupid.

"Nope. That's pretty much what was intended," a woman said as she walked up and stood next to Samira. Her outfit might have stood out just a tad bit when compared to others in the crowd but the woman didn't care. She'd rather walk around naked instead, so the clothing she did wear was already her being considerate of others. It was clear that she wasn't human despite most of the form being that. The wings stuck out as did some of the facial aspects. More importantly though, the magic signature was related to that of typical spirits, although in a weaker form than usual since she was in a weaker physical form and not using energy given to her by her summoner.

"Kuku! Did you really do that?! I said deliver the invitation! Not attempt to destroy their home!"

"Whoa. If I did that there would be more trouble going on here than this cute little get together outside a horror story setting." The snake spirit in human form turned to look at the dark castle in the background. "Actually, isn't that the same castle we were in before? Are we seriously repeating this episode of human stupidity?"

"Kuku, back to what we were discussing."

"Well we had trouble finding an alternative so I just threw Serqet that way. If it worked, yay. If it didn't and she never came back double yay. I would have preferred the second option, but I won't complain on a job well done. Don't blame me that the spirits that are dark and death related didn't want to bother with being delivery spirits, and the other ones don't really care to go sight seeing there."

Samira sighed and rubbed her forehead. She really couldn't trust any of them to do the simple tasks without making things a bit more chaotic and problematic, could she? "I am very sorry that the invitation was delivered in such a way. If you could pass that along to Shindara and Amuul that would be appreciated. My spirits meant no disrespect."

"I really don't care about being resp-" The spirit shut up as she was bonked on the head by the wooden staff Samira held. The serpent spirit glared and hissed but did nothing other than that except roll her eyes. "Fine. I'm going to go get some festival food or something." The spirit said as she started to walk away. "You kids have fun. Oh, and the others are around here too somewhere, and I have no intention on keeping them in order and behaved. So if people start screaming, yelling, running, and maybe even brawling, I had nothing to do with it. Stay away from that castle too."

"Naturally." Samira had zero intention on going back into that castle, and none of the other festival attendees better go in there either. Else she'd end up having to go in there to save them. Not happening. Not that night. And in her determination to have a fun pleasant night Samira went forward and forgot her embarrassment of earlier. "Well now that we are all here is there anything you all want to do? I picked up this flier earlier to get an idea of some of the attractions and contests going on." Samira reached into a blue mini portal that appeared in the air at her will and pulled out a decorated and glittery flier that had the festival details on it. Unlike the last festival, there were things lots of things Ruvel could enjoy fully even with his sight-related condition. She read aloud the listed things, hoping to spark an interest for her companions. "So any ideas? If not I suppose I can pick." They could all technically go separate ways but that'd be silly. Samira at least wanted to do a few things together. Maybe some of the games such as the puzzles or riddles. The maze was interesting too. Helping with the fireworks show sounded fun too. As for the eating and cooking contests... well Samira would be terrible at both of those, but she wouldn't object if the other two wanted to do it. She'd enjoy watching them have a go at it. Either way, there was lots to do and she was giving them the chance to say what they wanted to do before she took over.

Leona received the greetings of the esteemed Goddess of Humility and was about to ask her something when the other esteemed guest, the God of Resilience, arrived to the party with company. Beside the small blond fellow was a woman wearing an eye-catching red kimono with a golden kimono boasting golden leaves embroidered into it. She introduced herself as Seiyuki, Maiden of the Snow. Leona was not sure where Seiyuki came from, but it did not really matter because the woman was a guest of Ruvel and that was good enough for the blonde. Once Ruvel had gotten here Samira had asked an important question of Leona and Ruvel.

What activity did they want to do first?

"I don't have a preference, really. I'm game for whatever you guys want to do first." Leona informed Samira and Ruvel. She did not tell them that she was not keen on participating in any water-based games. She recalled nearly drowning in the trough of water used in the Bobbing for Apples game at the Midsummer Festival and sincerely hoped that she would not have to go through that again in this festival. She doubted that there was anything like that here, which was fine by her. She would likely find some new way to embarrass herself while almost dying in the process.

Leona stopped thinking about the Bobbing for Apples game and turned her eyes towards the Haunted Castle. So far the doors had stayed shut and no festival attendees had ventured inside the castle. None of the denizens within the castle had come out either, which was good because Leona had left her Silver Longsword at Silver Wolf Guild Hall. She could deal with the zombies and werewolves using either her magic or her knife, but she could not handle vampires or ghosts without a silver weapon. Samira and Ruvel would have to handle the vampires and ghosts should the inhabitants come out to play tonight.

"...What kind of activities are there to choose from, anyway?" Leona asked Samira after taking note of the flyer the Goddess of Humility held in her hand. Leona should have picked up one herself, but she was too busy trying to find Samira and Ruvel to think about it. As long as she hung around Samira everything should be fine. As long as no one went in the castle and there were no water-based games, tonight should be a good night for a festival.

    Nothing Could Go Wrong Here

Ruvel stood quietly after he had told Samira as to whom the message was delivered to and how it was seemingly delivered. He didn't need to have working eyes to guess the elder woman was embarrassed as her tone revealed all to him, Seiyuki covered her mouth with her kimono sleeve and gently chuckled as Samira tried to make some sort of excuse as to the actions taken only for it to be smacked down by one of her own summons. Ruvel smiled a little himself "Shindara and Amuul where expecting the intrusion it seems so no harm was done..." he said scratching his cheek nervously for a moment "Their guards however before dismissed wanted to give them a few more holes for entering the way they did. I ask in future they make their presence announced before ending up in the palace let alone the private chambers of the crowned princes." he said quietly yet respectfully to Samira "Their race and culture have strict protocals, rules and ettiquette they follow." he informed the summoner remembering his own time there "That being said Shindara and Amuul gave a tour of their home and took them sightseeing, shopping and a banquet in their honour." he added on getting a bit more information after asking the pair if everything was alright, he expected nothing different from the two as even if they were disrupted they would always play perfect hosts as was expected of them when they revealed they were in fact their own guests.

Ruvel closed his eyes and let out a faint sigh making Seiyuki turn her snow blue eyes to the youth "Is their something wrong with the moon?" she asked making him shake his head "No, the moon however is glad that it wasn't noble death that they ended up in the chambers of, it would have ended up differently no doubt." he replied making Seiyuki cross her arms a little "Noble death is very much unpredictable and does not like his chambers distupted without personal invitation at the best of times." she said agreeing with Ruvel's concern as when it came to entering Oykai's own room "But what is done is done, I want to thank you for the invitation once more the last festival was fun." he said warmly "It seems like you have the same discord I once had, then again I still do have it." he said chuckling nervously, he might not be a summoner anymore but his former summons did still visit him often and still gave him a headache when they couldn't agree on things. There were times he missed it because they were like a disfunctional family but that wasn't the path meant for him or his magic wouldn't have changed when he returned to his ancestrial home "I would love for you both to one day come to the place I was born." he offered this caught Seiyuki off guard "The gates might not like the moon doing such a thing without their knowledge." she protested lightly "The gates will get over it, they are not only companions or people I work with but my friends so if the gates have an issue with it they can take it up with me, I am through being alone there." he said shaking his head a little "I can understand but it is for the moon's safety." she retorted "I'm going crazy there, the invitation has also been given and it would be rude to try and take it back so even if they want to have issue it's to late either way." he said with a grin knowing exactly what he was doing.

It was then he remembered what the summon had said "Are we in the cursed grounds again?" he asked not knowing, the former summon could answer the question but believed he was asking the other two women there. Hearing Samira apologising and the summon start to say something only to be cut off made the blonde haired youth look confused more so as Seiyuki covered her mouth chucking having seen what had happened "They honestly didn't mind but as I said it is best to make their presence known at the gate in future." he said warmly, Seiyuki took the flyer in both her hands and read over the many things that they could do there "The snow has a suggestion for the moon since the moon enjoys doing such a task." she said offering the flyer to Leona with both hands once again. "The moon enjoys cooking, there is a cooking competition." she said with a warm smile, Ruvel nodded "Cooking is relaxing, I could take part in that and we likely could find things to do along the way." he said agreeing with the suggestion if the other two agreed to it.

(It's been agreed that we will be ignoring the roll above since the Cooking Contest instructions don't indicate that a roll is required)

Thankfully no offense had been made with how the invitation was sent. They had expected them apparently and by the sounds of it things were surprisingly pleasant as Ruvel explained that there was a tour and even a banquet. No wonder there weren't any complaints as soon as the delivery spirits returned. Well, Samira supposed she had over reacted just a little bit and it seemed to be a bit humorous to them. That was still probably something that should not be repeated in the future though, and Ruvel's advice on avoiding that in the future would be taken seriously and kept to memory. At least on her side of things. Her spirits would always be themselves and while many had brains and stayed on the side of caution there were some that were the opposite.

Ruvel had thanked her for the invitation and had mentioned the last festival was fun, which made Samira happy to know that she had not wasted his time and that he wasn't just being nice by coming without complaint. He had wanted to come and had considered her a friend. Adding on something else that was interesting was when he had mentioned he wanted both Leona and herself to visit the place he had been born in. That spiked up Samira's curiosity levels to the point that she may had already been thinking about when that could actually happen. Tomorrow sounded good. However, after he had made the offer there was a bit of dialogue between Seiyuki and Ruvel that made it seem as if that was actually a bad idea. There was some disappointment, yes, but she didn't want there to be any trouble even if she were pretty curious about the place. "It is never too late to take it back if it is going cause trouble for you and others. I admit I was looking forward to seeing it after you mentioned it, but I can understand the other side as well." Well, maybe tomorrow was not the best day for that sort of sight seeing. Ruvel could work all of that out with those that would have not liked the idea and then send her another invitation later on. At least she was much easier to find compared to him.

When it came to picking out their first activity Leona did not seem to have a preference. She was ready to do anything and go with the flow. Seiyuki and Ruvel had, on the other hand, had an idea as to what to do. "Cooking contest it is then." Samira said with a nod and a smile on her face that was hiding the dread she had within. She was many things and had her strengths in many areas. Cooking was not one of them nor was she any sort of chef. The most she could be trusted with was peeling potatoes. She sure wasn't going to be of much help there so hopefully she could learn a thing or two from Ruvel while watching on as part of the audience. Unless it turned into some kind of group challenge, in which case their little group would be in trouble with Samira trying to help out. "That is starting soon so let's head that way and see what we run into along the way. I think it is in this direction." Samira pointed her wooden magic stick toy in a separate direction before taking the lead and walking to where she thought the contest was. As they got closer it would be easy to spot the unique set up, especially with the banners. Right next to it was also the setup for the eating contest that would start up after the cooking one.

Along the way though Samira noticed a basket of trophies next to a one eyed man that sat on a stump. Some children had grabbed a trophy before heading off to whatever attraction they wanted to see or participate in next. The trophies Samira remembered being mentioned in the flier as rewards for certain attractions. To her surprise the ones in the basket required very little effort to claim. As she passed by the man he looked at the group with his one good eye and asked a question. A question that was actually a riddle.

"I have one and you have one. So do the woods, fields, streams and seas, fish, beasts and crops and everything else in this revolving world."

So that was the game, was it? The riddle itself was easy to answer. It was a very old one that many people had probably heard at least once in their lifetime. Samira herself knew of it from a book of old riddles, although they were written in a very old style of the Fiore language. And so Samira answered by saying, "shadow". The old man said nothing and just pointed to the basket of trophies as if giving permission for her to claim one. She did so. With that done and a trophy of her own added to the collection, Samira stood there and waited to see if the others wanted to try answering a riddle or if there was something else that caught their eye that they wanted to try before going the rest of the way to the cooking contest.

Post by Leona Jarnefeldt 22nd September 2019, 9:12 pm

Leona was relieved when she heard that they would not be entering the cooking contest. She would have lost very badly because she had no idea of how to cook anything. Her mother Sophia did all the cooking since Leona and Leonidas were as hopelessly inept in the culinary arts as they were adept in fighting and metalworking. They were not going to the contest, so why was she still feeling an overwhelming sense of dread about it? Was Leona feeling inadequate... again?

Leona shook off the thought and followed Samira and Ruvel in the direction that Samira believed that the cooking contest was in. On the way she tried to locate something that she could do to help the group get a trophy before the festival was over. Leona thought she saw the cooking contest banner and involuntarily shuddered. If Samira and Ruvel were relying on her to win a cooking contest they would be sorely disappointed. After turning away from the dreaded contest Leona looked right and saw something that was more up her alley, that something being a target game set up next to a booth manned by a bald, muscular man wearing a white tank top and blue jeans with brown boots.

Leona looked and saw children throwing baseballs at circular metal targets standing on metal arms and lined up in three rows of five. It looked like a target game set up in the style of a shooting gallery. The rules of the game were listed on a white sandwich board sign standing to the left of the man. The objective was to knock down at least three targets in five tries to win the trophy. This was something that the blonde could do.

"Guys, I'm going to go play the target game." Leona informed Samira and Ruvel, pointing towards the booth before striking out on her own and walking briskly towards the target game. She had just sidled up to the counter when the man noticed her and shoved a cluster of five baseballs towards her.

"Welcome, welcome! It's not every day that a Wizard Saint plays my game!" He greeted her warmly.

"The game's pretty simple. Knock down at least three targets in five tries to win a prize!" He gave her a rundown of the game. Those rules were so simple that even she could remember them.

"Here. You might wanna keep these for me. I don't want to ruin your business." Leona said to him. Leona took off her Argent Gloves and set them on the counter so that she did not knock holes in his targets with superpowered throws. She then picked up the baseballs while the amazed man took the silver gauntlets that were valuable enough to pay for the entire festival and stored them under the counter. Leona then sidled up to the play area and pulled a baseball out of the bundle cradled in her left arm.

Leona aimed at a red-and-white bullseye target in the middle of the first throw, drew back her right arm, then threw the baseball. The baseball hit the bullseye dead center and knocked the target down with a TING. She focused on the target to the far left of the second row, took a ball into her right hand, and threw it. The second target went down with a TING... all she needed to do was knock down one more metal target and the trophy was hers.

Next the blonde picked the far right target on the third row, took a baseball into her right hand, and threw it. The ball connected dead center and knocked the target down with a TING. Leona had won!

"Well done, Wizard Saint! You win the trophy!" The man congratulated her and set her Argent Gloves on the counter. Leona handed back the remaining two balls and reached for her Argent Gloves, which she quickly slipped back onto her hands once she reclaimed them. She then took the trophy that was offered to her and thanked the man for the entertaining game. The beaming Wizard Saint then hurried to rejoin her companions for another game or festival event.

    Nothing Could Go Wrong Here

Ruvel smiled a little he knew that it could have went far differently had Shinara and Amuul taken offense to their chambers being intruded upon. To be honest if it hadn't been for the fact it had been Samira's summon that had done such an act and precievably not by choice, that the course of events would have taken such a change. In their homeland ettiquette, respect and tradition played huge roles and to go against them even as an outsider never ended well. Then again some might argue that point if they ever came across Oykai but then how he was as a reaper wasn't the same as how he was outside that cast so certain behaviours were overlooked due to his personal circumstances. The youth closed his eyes and the smile faded for a long moment, he knew that Oykai was pained he felt it as if it was his own such was the bond he held with his summons due to the way they were contracted. He shook his head to get the thoughts out of his head and smiled once more, this was a festival problems and issues had no real place here and he didn't want to bring down the others mood because of his own. He bit his lip for a moment "You could always send messages to Miss Hisamori for me, her little brother Sato is a summon of mine and could let me know." it was quite odd that he had never called Yona by her given name but never called her brother by their family name, he guessed it was once again because Sato and himself had the bond they did so it was almost like calling himself Mr. Mizune which was just beyond weird to the youth.

Ruvel shook his head as to what Samira said about retracting his invitation to visit him where he lived "My summons are overly cautious due to me being in a weakened state, I however would like to believe that other wizard saints that I respect wouldn't do me harm." he said honestly as if nothing was going to change his mind on the matter, that was however the truth of the matter, to him it was just plain rude to give and invite and then void it because some other people might be unhappy about it. This was his ancestral home after all not theirs and normall there were always some sort of trained guardian around due to his lack of sight and his personal ineptness at sencing all by six elements of magic making him be at quite the disadvantage even in the barren wastelands of the Silent Glaciers. "My invitation stands." he said warmly blinking as a basket of pumpkin spice air freshener, candles, oils and such appeared in his hand 'For Samira' he heard in his mind 'I guessed. You have strange priorities.' he sent to his summon 'You're one to talk Ruvel, stop worrying about my issues and go have some fun for a change.' Oykai said before going silent once more.

Ruvel held the seasonal bath gift basket out and with Seiyuki's help it was towards the correct person "A gift from Oykai." he really didn't understand the bond they had and why it seemed to be formed on things that scented the air, this however kept the normal sarcastic and sass filled summon happy so he wasn't about to argue the point one way or another. He nodded as it seemed to be agreed that they would be going towards the cooking competition, this actually made him happy as he enjoyed cooking but then that was a given because he really didn't eat things he himself didn't make. It wasn't because he was a fussy eater and though unknown to the mass public it was hard to not understand why if they did. No, he only ate what he cooked because this way he knew what was being used and he could cook for his own portion size which was considerably smaller than most peoples in comparison. Doing it this way prevented waste something thrown out because there was to much could be used to feed, clothe or take care of the less fortunate which is what the case was when it came to the trading company. They gave any over stock of food and such to those down on their luck, this was because he personally knew what it was like to have absolutly nothing; with a sigh he shook his head trying to get those thoughts out of his mind once more, that was his past and so longs he kept looking on it he would never be free of it but still it was something he would need to deal with at some point once and for all.

Seiyuki nodded and carefully turned the youth in the direction they were to walk allowing him the comfort of walking on his own but close enough to let him know if there was something coming up that he would need to avoid. Ruvel appreciated the gesture as were he wouldn't make a fuss he disliked feeling like his freedom had been removed from him once again which she as a former summon of his knew was the last thing that should be done. As they continued on Seiyuki had Ruvel stop as both Leona and Samira had seen things that had caught their attentions "The star of courage is playing a throwing game and the star of humility is answering riddles." she informed Ruvel as he couldn't do much about the throwing he headed towards the male but heard another males voice "What's that?" he asked "It is a puzzle game, interested?" she asked the youth nodding "Guide me please." she asked allowing Seiyuki to take his arm amd walking him to the black smith "What a beauty to behold, are you here to try your luck miss?" the blacksmith asked, He stood around six foot eleven inches tall, muscular even for his elderly age wearing dark trousers, dull white top and black boots. "Not me good sir but my companion wishes to try your game." she said motioning towards Ruvel "I'm sorry to say miss but this might be far more difficult for your young friend here due to not being able to see." he said like a concerned grandfather "It may be more difficult sir but without trials we aren't able to grow to our full potential, I want to try." Ruvel said his hands going to the table and feeling the first small metal puzzle, it looked like an 'm' and a 'w' joined the middle of both wasn't wide enough to let the metal through but they had to come away from each other the he held the m towards himself and the w to a forty-five degree angle away lifting the w he turned it as he felt it get to the top brought ot towards his left hand little by little and brought it down as the spaces overlapped placing the two pieces on the table. "That one is done." he said his hand moving to the next.

The next was a cube with dents with a hoop with a slit just like with the puzzle before, taking a moment he felt around the puzzle to try and understand what he was meant to be doing. Moving the hoop he put the little nip at the end through each section twisting the box around after a few short minutes he got the hoop free and put both down before his hand started looking for the third. The fourth was odd he felt around it and it felt like it had six sides with symbols on it, this one seemed to give people a hard time but Ruvel just placed it on the table. Placing his finger on the top right flat side and his thumb on the bottom left flat side he just spun it on the table before flipping it over and doing the exact same for the other side, once done he flipped it again and took the two pieces apart before putting them on the table. His hands now went to the the fourth puzzle and picked it up, it seemed like a star with a hoop going through it but as he moved his hands around it he found the star moved "Oh I see there is two stars on a rivet..." he said quietly to himself as he pondered the solution for this one it would be harder because he couldn't rely on his sight so he would have to take it slowly and use his touch. Slowly he moved the ring through one hole twisting the star his hand gliding over each hole each time, it took him around six minutes to get the hoop moved to the point two specific holes lined up allowing him to free the hoop. The fifth and final one had three pieces to it and it looked like a tangled mess that had many holes and indents, this one seriously gave Ruvel a run for his money but every time he made a mistake he went back a step and tried something else. All in all however it still took only took him around minutes to complete it placing the three pieces on the table. "Congratulations, you have quite the sharp mind young man." he said holding out the small trophy allowing Seiyuki to take it "I enjoy puzzles and do them when I have the chance, thank you for showing me yours I'll be sure to order some in the near future." he said with a small bow "I'll look forward to it young man, you should go and enjoy the rest of the festival." he said Seiyuki gave a polite smile to the elder man before leading Ruvel back to the others. "I got a trophy for playing with puzzles." he let the others know wondering if there was anything else that caught their eyes before they continued on towards their original destination.

Nothing Could Go Wrong Here (Private, Event, Leona and Ruvel) Empty Re: Nothing Could Go Wrong Here (Private, Event, Leona and Ruvel)

Post by Samira Nassar 26th September 2019, 10:52 pm

At first Samira didn't recall who Miss Hisamori was that Ruvel was referring to as a future way to go with delivering messages to him. It only took a moment or two for her to recall the last time she looked at the list of guilds and their leaders to remember that she was listed as an Ace of the West Fiore Trading Company. Sato had also been met at the last festival they were at in the Cursed Lands so it made sense. It was a very roundabout way to give a simple letter to the fellow Saint, but even she could agree that it was much better than facing the consequences of whatever happened if her spirits decided to crash the place again. They had been lucky that time. In the future probably not so much, and hearing the complaints on both sides was not something that she was looking forward to. Samira nodded, acknowledging the suggestion and agreeing with it. As far as the invitation to visit his home though, there was still some concern there, but Ruvel was adamant. The invitation was staying there. "If you insist." There was a bit more to say, but the conversation was interrupted as a basket filled with scented air freshener, candles, oils, and other things similar appeared in Ruvel's hands. Samira blinked as she stared at it, wondering what that was about and why it had appeared when it did.

The basket was held out for her to take and it was mentioned that it was from Oykai. "Oh! I should have known!" Samira sent the wooden magic stick toy away in a mini portal and then happily took the basket of pumpkin spice essentials. "He really should stop giving me these. It is spoiling me, and I have yet to do the same. Do give him my thanks and appreciation though. I am going to have to work hard to come up with a gift for him in return." Maybe a lifetime supply of Winter Spice essentials. That was the fragrance he was first introduced to so it was sentimental. But lifetime supply was probably... a bit much since he probably lived forever. Better cut that down to a year supply. Along with adding a new fragrance he hadn't come across yet. If that were at all possible.

Samira went back to their original topic while looking at the gift items in her basket."Whenever you are ready for me to visit just send one of your summons to meet up with mine. They're used to having unexpected guests." That was no exaggeration either. Far too often someone else's spirits ended up there to say hello or ruin their good day with some bomb that contained bad news. Going into attack mode wasn't really their first move with intrusions since generally it was always someone they knew anyway. "Although I suppose finding me in general would not be an issue either for them even if I am in the middle of no where. I will just leave that up to you when the time comes. Both will work." As long as nothing was sent to the Sabertooth guild hall that she rarely visited or to a member to pass the message off it'd get to her somehow.

The group had split off for a bit after that, but each had come back with their own trophies from the mini-games they had played. Well, now that, that was out of their system maybe they could actually focus on getting to the contest before it started without them. Or rather without Ruvel. Samira had no intention in participating, unless people really liked burnt and possibly poisoned inedible food. Whether Leona wanted to participate or not she wasn't all too sure on. There were no real comments about the topic earlier when it had been brought up. Where the cooking contest was located there was a lady wearing a chef costume and holding a megaphone announcing that the contest would be starting in a few minutes, and anyone who wanted to participate had better get there fast or risk just watching from the sidelines. "Oh, we had better hurry if we are going to make it to the contest in time!" And with that said, Samira quickened her pace somewhat, but did not run. She didn't want to leave her companions behind, especially when one couldn't see what was in front of him and had to be led safely by another. Unfortunately, this might have given others the impression that she really wanted to join in the contest and was rushing to get there before the sign ups closed. This made for the unfortunate circumstance of ending up participating in the contest when she would rather not enter at all.

"Excuse me, where does one sign up?" Samira asked of the chef megaphone lady standing at the entrance of the contest area. Of course she had been asking ahead of time for Ruvel so he could go straight there and get taken care of for the contest, but the contest announcer seemed to think that she was the one that was interested.

"Oh! I had heard some of the Wizard Saints were around here!" The woman lowered the megaphone and stared at Samira in awe, which that same look was there when she took notice of Ruvel and Leona as well. "My, I wasn't expecting any of you to even bother with entering this little ol' festival contest. Don't you worry about signing up, honey. I got you all covered. We all know who you three are even around these parts."

"It is just Ruvel wishing to enter the contest as far as I am aware. I have no interest in it."

"Oh? Your culinary skills would blow the minds of us average folk? Oh, don't you worry about humiliating us, dear. We got some of our best contest regulars here this year. I hear Chef Ramsey is really planning something big to take that prize."

"I am horrible at cooking actually. The decline comes from me being humiliated, not the other way around."

"Oh, so modest! I hear the Saints do everything better than anyone else so don't go trying to convince me otherwise. Come on now. The other contestants need some real competition this year. Oh, could you imagine if this appeared on an issue of Sorceror's Weekly?! I can't waaaiiittt!" The woman took the gift basket from Samira. "I'll hold onto that for you. Right this way to your cooking station! I can't wait to see what you will prepare for the judges!" The chef lady began to pull Samira away and kept going on and on about how high her expectations were now that three wizard saints were there to make something for the cooking contest, which could then be used for the eating contest. Oh, it was going to be splendid! Really the woman was insane if she thought they were going to snap their fingers and materialize a giant and fancy buffet from a five star restaurant.

"No, really, I am completely terrible! I have failed to make a grilled cheese sandwich before! Are you listening to me at all?!" The answer was no and before Samira knew it she was standing at a cooking station that was entirely for herself. She should have just made the woman disappear, or freeze her, or... something! She had options! Yet none of them were used because that was just rude and not very appropriate. That flaw needed to be corrected if she wished to avoid situations like the current one.

Ruvel and Leona would also be led to their cooking stations by other chef costumed judges that were just as ecstatic to have them there. If they so desired anyway. Since the cooking contest was Ruvel's idea, he most likely went willingly and the same for Seiyuki. Leona might have trouble though if she didn't want to compete.

Post by Leona Jarnefeldt 27th September 2019, 11:07 pm

Leona could not believe what she was hearing from the woman holding the megaphone. She wanted them, a Wizard Saint and a God and Goddess of Ishgar, to participate in a cooking contest. Leona blinked because she could not believe what she was hearing.

They wanted her to participate in a cooking contest.

    A COOKING CONTEST.

Leona counted herself fortunate if she did not boil away the water used for preparing tea. These people wanted her to make something for the eating contest. Something that other people were actually going to eat. Did they know what they were doing? Did they know what kind of risk they were running by "asking" her to participate?

"I'm lucky if I can make a cup of coffee without an accident. Are you sure you want me to cook for other people?" Leona asked the young woman in a chef's costume ushering her to her cooking station. Leona was trying to give them a way to dismiss her that would save face for both parties. Leona would look good by putting the public's health and safety above her own image and the contest organizers would look good by dismissing someone who freely admitted that they could not cook, sparing the eating contest participants from the consequences of bad cooking. Leona's hopes were soon dashed.

"It'll be fine, Miss Leona! Just make something for us! You're going to do great, even if it's just a grilled cheese sandwich!" The young woman assured the Wizard Saint that everything would be fine before cheerfully walking away, leaving the blonde to stare helplessly at the ingredients before her. Leona saw French bread, normal sandwich bread, several different cheeses that were helpfully labeled, and vegetables, among other ingredients. The blonde had never felt this lost in her life. To make matters worse, a blond man in a chef's outfit walked up to her with a look of utter disdain plastered on his face and met her eyes with piercing green eyes.

"Well, if it isn't the precious princess from Desierto! I'm so honored that you're here!" He started the conversation on a bad note, giving a mock bow to her. A few of the spectators who had gathered to see the Saint, the God, and the Goddess turned and murmured to each other.

"I'm not a princ-" Leona started to protest before the man held a finger to his lip for silence. The stunned blonde went silent and the chef continued to speak.

"Listen here you precious princess. We're not in Desierto anymore, so you putting a dead rat on a spit and roasting it over a campfire isn't going to work. You'll need to make something better, something that civilized people eat. If you know how to make something like that, I'd be glad to see it." He smugly told her. The spectators looked towards Leona with their jaws on the ground and a tense silence began to build. They clearly expected the Wizard Saint to heave a frying pan at his head or to leave her station to beat him into a barely recognizable mess. Leona was tempted to fling a frying pan at him, but she could not engage in violence like that over a petty dispute. Instead she took a deep breath and kept calm.

"Interesting. Now tell us how you really feel." Leona snarked aloud, dispelling the tension that had built up. Nervous laughs began to rise from the audience and the chef just sneered at her before stomping off to badger someone else. The blonde had survived the first verbal volley from the infamous Chef Ramsey without doing anything rash. She knew that she could not win against him because of her lack of cooking experience, but she would do her best just to spite the pompous blowhard.

    Nothing Could Go Wrong Here

Ruvel remained quiet as he explained how best to get a message to him, he knew it was a roundabout way to do it but this way no one lost a limb or worse. This time it seemed like nothing to back had happened however it could have turned out far differently and the reunion between the three might be far diffrent than they were at current. The issue had been avoided and that is all that really mattered with Samira's summon being treated as if a crowned princess by Shindara and Amuul, he was glad that they had been gracious hosts given the situation and would have to apologise personally next time they were the ones acting as his eyes. That might be some time away given light hurt them but they had bore it on more than one occasion to make sure he was safe, he was appreciative that they done such things but he also felt guilty that they hurt themselves to do so. He would tell them not to but every time he had done so in the past, they had counter argued that this was what they had agreed to do within their contract and so would fulfil their duties no matter what it would cost them to do so. He had tried to release them from their contract but they refused from their end and due to how his magic once worked he held no power in negotiation so he couldn't force them or end it himself, it all came down to them so knew better than waste his time, energy and breath trying to convince them when they had clearly made up their mind to remain by his side until the day he finally passed into his next life. Strangely, he was at peace knowing he wouldn't be alone anymore.

Hearing Samira speak he came out of his own head and nodded "I do, it will be nice to have company that aren't current or former summons, or their races. Johann visits now and then but I know he is busy doing his own things after all guilds don't run themselves." he said warmly, although it was clear that the youth was beyond lonely being isolated the way he was. He could trust the other two he believed not to do harm to him, they were wizard saints like him and this was their second festival together so it was becoming somewhat of a tradition. The smile remained on his lips as he continued to hold the basket of pumpkin spiced scented things "You're a rare one, he doesn't normally take to living people easily and the strange way you have of bonding makes me chuckle a bit. He hopes you'll enjoy it and he knows your summons will, though he snickered at that part. I'm guessing an inside joke." he said not knowing what happened when it came to the winter spiced air freshener. He lowered his hands as the basket was taken from his hands "I wouldn't worry about it, he's does it because he wants to not because he wants things in return, I will allow you to give your appreciation to him when you see him next, it will mean more to him in the long run." he said honestly, when he thought how old Oykai was to how both sides looked he would have thought him a liar if he hadn't seen his library and some of his older memories himself. "You want to get him a good gift that isn't of things that scent the air, I suggest getting him a book or finding him something that he can research and study. That would be something he would treasure not only in this life time but everyone here after." he said with a small smile letting the elder woman know the kinds of things that his summon enjoyed.

He chuckeled and shook his head as they got back on subject and then it dawned on him a simple mode of communication. "We could all just exchange ilac information." he said thinking it might be the best thing at the end of the day it would prevent any mishaps that could happen in the future "Normally one of my companions have my ilac but they would get the information to me quickly, they have it so I can't be found. I am starting to think they're more paranoid than I am and that's saying something." he said with a chuckle as if it was a joke but it was completely true, the blonde haired youth was paranoid and always on high alert even when sleeping but that was just something that he couldn't help given how he was raised. "I hope this is acceptable to everyone." he said calmly waiting to hear what the others thought. It had seemed that before he would get their answers they split up as there was a mini game that seemed to intreast each of them and met up shortly afterwards each holding a trophy. "Seems you are all winners." Seiyuki commented with a gentle tone one would expect from a refined woman from midi. "Congratulations both." Ruvel said with a smile having for the moment completely forgotten that he wanted to take part in the cooking competition, that was until Samira brought it up making the youth nod "I had completely forgotten about that, I was just enjoying myself spending time here with you all." he said his words were small and embarrassed as he told them of his thoughts, the snow Elven maiden holding him close. "The moon is making steps forward, the gates will be happy." she said to him kissing the side of his temple knowing that something like this has and most likely would never be easy for the one currently in her care.

Seeing Samira head off with a quick pace, soon followed by Leona, Seiyuki started to lead Ruvel at a comfortable pace. People moving out of the way as she moved forward seeing that she was with someone who couldn't see and didn't want them to be in any danger of falling due to being knocked by fooling around or bumped into by being in a rush. Both Ruvel and Seiyuki were thankful of the consideration shown to them and soon met up once again with Leona and Samira who seemed to be carted onto the stage by the host from what he could hear. Ruvel couldn't help but chuckle at Samira's protests and them falling on deaf ears "This is going to be intresting to say the least." he said trying to stop his gentle laughter "It's good to hear the moon laugh and see him have fun. Are you needing me to help while at your station?" the snow maiden asked making him shake his head "No, the moon entered himself and must work with the same rules as the others." he said but allowed her to take him to his station before moving into the crowed once more but remaining close just in case she was required.

Ruvel remained still listening to the arrogant chef seemingly trying to make a fool out of Leona and closed his eyes under his blindfold, he could hear the stomping coming towards him and before he could even get his first word out Ruvel was already prepared "You should watch manners, you might be a world class chef but that doesn't give you the right to talk to people in such ways, especially in public in front of a crowed. What on Earthland is wrong with you it's common decency after all." he said calmly, he hated people being bullied especially people that he actually cared for on this occasion "Besides, I've been to your resteraunt in Minstrel and I would rather eat the grilled rat." he said his tone not hostile in anyway, it wasn't a well known fact but the blonde haired god of Ishgar was unable to lie, so his words unbenounced to the majority of people were in fact true. "I was taken to it by one of the nobles there, I wasn't impressed if I am to be perfectly honest, so please instead of belittling someone who is here for fun go back to your resteraunt and apologise to your employees for yelling at them because I'm pretty sure they heard you on Tolgalen that night." his voice calm making not only the chef stund but the crowed a warm smile on his face as he just went back to his station his head turning towards Leona "Diplomacy, telling people to go to hell in such a way they look forward to the trip." he said to her with a chuckle, the crowd seeming to chuckle a bit too "beside I dislike bullies, lets do our bests and just enjoy ourselves." he said to the female blonde of their little trio awaiting the instructions from the host so they could begin.

Nothing Could Go Wrong Here (Private, Event, Leona and Ruvel) Empty Re: Nothing Could Go Wrong Here (Private, Event, Leona and Ruvel)

Post by Samira Nassar 24th November 2019, 5:50 pm

Samira was stuck with having to participate in the contest it seemed. It was possible to still walk away. Nothing was really stopping her, and nothing rightly could unless there were some magical chains or jail bars that would appear out of no where to make sure the contestants remained at their stations. That was a different matter altogether though if such a thing existed, and that day no one would find out whether or not that was a thing. Maybe next year. For the current year, Samira would do her part. It would be rude to walk away now, and there was more of a gathering of spectators as the seconds drew closer to the start of the contest. The woman blinked as she stared blankly at the audience, then the other contestants, and the judges. She sighed. Well, most people did want to see disasters, didn't they?

A few of the ingredients in her station were poked as she tried to think of a plan. She didn't rightly know what to do with any of them, and there were even more ingredients available behind her as well as various cooking tools that she had no idea how to operate or what they were used for. The dishes that she remembered how to make due to trying to make them as a child were still there in her brain somewhere, but those same attempts tended to catch the house on fire as well. Samira needed to find something that was... safe. She tapped the surface of her station, thinking. That is, until she overheard some choice words and a confrontation going on at the other stations, namely the ones belonging to Leona and Ruvel.

Samira herself stayed silent during it, seeing no reason to speak and add more to the conflict. From what she could gather though from listening, one of the more established contestants had approached Leona and started to say a few things that were unwarranted. His emphasization of the term "princess" was oddly confusing since from Samira's recollection she had never heard of the Saint ever being classifying herself as such or others referring to her by that title. Maybe that was what the people of Desierto called her due to her efforts in her home country. Samira didn't rightly know. What she did know was that the man's next sentence seemed to be more aimed at anyone from Desierto than just Leona herself. He had assumed anyone from there, including Leona, excelled at nothing more than roasting rats over a campfire when it came to cooking. An interesting statement given Samira herself was from Fiore and could not cook even that correctly. Her Desierto ancestors, however, were probably facepalming in their graves. Assuming, of course, that they didn't want to destroy the man for that statement. Her spirits from that region already wanted to do that much. Although many of them were around the festival grounds doing their own thing, they all were still connected to Samira's mind and knew everything that she heard. That wasn't even accounting for the spirits that were sitting at the eating contest area or were watching with the audience as well. The poor man must have not taken any of that into account.

Still, nothing happened on her side of things. She continued to keep to herself as Leona said some words to the horrible chef Ramsey. Even Ruvel had some things to say to the man as well. The matter had been taken care of after that for the rude chef had been stunned enough to lose his words and walk away. Did that mean he was off the hook from Samira? Not quite. While she would do nothing malicious or ruin his chances in the contest, that didn't mean her spirits wouldn't. They were kept in check, for now. It was time of year for tricks or treats, and the man had certainly earned enough for a trick or two. Later. In that time between now and then he had better hope that he did not do more to earn himself even more.

After everything settled down the contest was on its way to starting. The judges had introduced themselves, the contestants, and gave the rules and details of the contest. After all of that was said and done, the timer began and everyone was instructed to get cooking. Right. Cooking. It was back to that problem she had yet to solve. The sounds and such going on in the other stations Samira tuned out. The voices of the spirits were also tuned out. While some were giving ideas and tips, some were also very wrong so it led to arguing among each other and was very unhelpful. Not that she would have listened to them anyway. She was the one in the contest and not them so it would have ended up being classified as cheating... not that even with her cheating did she stand a chance to win. In the end cooking was still a skill she lacked.

"Oh... I can do that, I suppose," she told herself as a proverbial lightbulb lit up above her head as she got a terrific idea. The woman left the station to gather the things she needed, looking as if she totally knew what she was doing and not making it up as she went along. Some of the audience that took notice sighed with relief as she finally got moving for they feared that she was just going to stand there and do nothing the entire time. Then they blanked out when they saw that she returned to her station with a container of rice crispy cereal, a bowl, and some milk that was being kept magically cool for the contest. Now normally rice crispy cereal was used to make the actual rice crispy treats that were combined with melted marshmallows to make some neat and tasty treats when decorated and put together. Everyone watching assumed Samira was going to do something like that and so she was preparing to do so. Unfortunately they realized their error in that assumption when the Goddes of Ishgar poured the cereal into the bowl and then the milk. Tada! A perfect bowl of cereal had been made! "Oh, almost forgot," Samira said aloud to herself before turning around and going over to where some utensils were stored. A spoon was then added to the bowl. Voila! Now it was perfect!

There was one thing Samira had not fully considered, however. Cereal tended to get soggy after a while, and her "dish" was done very quickly. During the waiting game, her entry had turned into a horrible, and now kind of warm since the magic keeping the milk cool evaporated, mess. At the very least she could say it was the safer approach. She didn't want to have to deal with a mass fire that came about from her spectacular cooking skills.

Post by Leona Jarnefeldt 25th November 2019, 1:01 pm

Leona was lost. Hopelessly lost. Sitting before her were all the ingredients necessary to make a grilled cheese sandwich, but she had no idea of how to even prepare one without creating an inedible mess that would harm even those hardy people with cast-iron stomachs. As far as she knew, making a grilled cheese sandwich was all about putting some cheese between two slices of bread, buttering the bread, and heating it on a griddle on top of a stove until it was ready to eat. Even with the bare minimum knowledge of how to make one Leona was still hopelessly lost at her cooking station.

Leona looked towards the crowd and saw that quite a few people were anxiously waiting to see what culinary wonder the Wizard Saint of Courage could pull out of her hat. They would be sorely disappointed by what she produced, but she would try to cook something decent out of spite for that Chef Ramsey person who had deliberately insulted her and her heritage. Leona grabbed two slices of white bread, a butter knife, and a paper plate to place the bread on, then grabbed a black cast-iron griddle and a tub of butter. She then set the paper plate down on the counter to the left of the oven and placed the two slices of bread on top of it, then placed the butter knife just to the side of the bread. Leona gently set her cast-iron griddle on the top left burner of the stove and gently turned the corresponding dial to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Once the stovetop was started Leona took the butter knife and scooped a generous serving of butter, then gently buttered the first piece of bread until all the butter was on it. She set it down on the slowly warming griddle, then pulled out three slices of Asiago cheese and placed them on top of the slice. The Wizard Saint then proceeded to butter up the second slice and placed the buttered side up. The sandwich was still intact and she had not started a fire that consumed it or the stove. So far, so good.

The blonde watched the burner heat up and realized that she needed something with which to flip the sandwich so that both sides were evenly heated. Where was a spatula or something? Leona looked around the counter space and found a flat metal one in a helpfully labeled drawer that she could use. She pulled open the drawer, grabbed a metal spatula, and closed the drawer, then watched the sandwich as a sizzling sound slowly began to become audible. That was Leona's cue to flip it.

Leona worked the spatula under the bread and used her left hand to stabilize the sandwich as she flipped it over so that the other side could be lightly toasted. She held her breath until the sandwich was safely down, then turned her head and exhaled away from the food or the items used to prepare it. The burner was fully heated, so cooking the sandwich should not take too much longer. There was still plenty of time for disaster to strike, so Leona had to be vigilant and not relax until the sandwich was safely off of the griddle. There was no insults from Chef Ramsey, who was busy preparing his own culinary miracle for the delight of the audience and judges.

Leona wondered how Samira and Ruvel were doing with their respective endeavors. Undoubtedly they were making wonders that would place much higher than her own modest grilled cheese sandwich, but then she remembered that Samira had professed to being on the same boat as Leona when it came to a lack of cooking skill. Sandwich... sandwich... there was something about the sandwich that was relevant. Wait a minute, what was that sizzling? Leona needed to flip the sandwich!

Quickly and carefully placing the spatula under the bread, Leona again used her left hand to stabilize the sandwich before flipping it over and somehow managing not to mess it up. That was another small victory for the Wizard Saint. She could not wait for the sandwich to be finished so that her torment would end. Why did she take this challenge anyway? What possessed her to step behind the counter and try to cook something that other people would eat?

The vigilant blonde heard the sizzling again and flipped the sandwich, which was starting to show a sort of golden brown color on the top. She waited a couple of minutes before flipping it again. One more cycle of cooking both sides and it should be finished. Whether it was gourmet fare or not would be up in the air, but at least the finished product would be edible. She hoped.

After the last cycle was finished Leona put the finished sandwich on the paper plate and placed the paper plate in the middle of the counter so that it did not fall off and become an Upside-Down Asiago Grilled Cheese Sandwich. Finally. Her suffering was over.

The blonde knew that she was not going to win the contest because she was going up against the experienced Chef Ramsey and Ruvel, but she did not care about winning. Her goals in this contest were survival and making a sandwich that was safe to eat. She had not caused a fire and the sandwich was reasonably intact and had been thoroughly cooked. She saw that as an absolute win.

Leona examined the finished product and saw that the bread was brown and approaching black in a few places. The cheese had melted and was threatening to ooze out of the sandwich. The blonde could have done a lot better with the preparation by not cooking it as long and possibly using only two slices of cheese instead of three. Still, she was fairly sure that while it would not be a divinely crafted sandwich that the culinary gods would covet and fight each other over, it would not send the person who ate it to the hospital. The Wizard Saint would be satisfied with that small victory.

    Nothing Could Go Wrong Here

Ruvel had to wonder why the others didn't just step down if they didn't want to take part, it could have been they were worried about how it would come across to the others, but they didn't seem to be the types for that to bother them. Then again how did he know these types of things, it was just an assumption on his part as they had only ever done a few tasks together. Still, he was quite fond of his fellow wizard saints and hoped they could become friends in the future, his summons were still concerned that this was something that he was lacking even in his current state. They didn't want him completely isolated but at the same time they couldn't let him walk down the street freely in a place like Era or be on Tolgalen, not until they knew the danger had passed. He had fought against his captivity and swore he would walk out of the castle ruins in the Silent Glaciers he currently called home. It was only because his summons and guardians finally caved and allowed him to do jobs out of the way of the public eye, he had even stumbled into a few festivals where he had met the two women he had been getting closer to. It made him smile a little as he thought upon it, still the original wondering was there, but then he guessed there was several reasons as to why they could be still on stage though even as a blind person could see they didn't want to be. It would be something that he'd have to ask them later when the competition was over, for now however he wanted to have fun, if he could put that smug ass chef Ramsey in his place that would make this even better. He needed to realise that no matter just how good he might be, there would always be someone better and that he couldn't put someone down just because of a title or how they cooked, even he knew not everyone would cook to a professional level and just done it as stress relief or just a hobby.

It did confuse him how the famous chef called Leona a princess but then decided to contradict it by saying she ate rat on a stick. He can't ever say he had eaten rat before but who knew with where he grew up, still, he had eaten with nobility and royals from his fellow wizard saints homeland of Desierto and had nothing but the very best in the standards of foods. He couldn't say that the spices were to his taste but he was still polite enough to eat what he was served, after his summons told him how it had been prepared. He had even picked up a few hints and tips on many of his stays that he used himself all be it sometimes in a variation, he should perhaps try to cook for the pair at some point. They could even try some of what he was going to make now. The issue was he had no idea what kind of ingredients he had around him so this was going to be interesting to say the least, he was lucky enough to have Shindara and Amuul so they could help him with what he was holding. Taking a deep breath he moved away from his cooking station to wash his hands at a nearby sink, drying them off he moved back feeling around the ingredients he had been given to use. "Just a note to contestents, if you need to freeze, chill or roast something the fridges, freezers and ovens are enchanted with time magic so it will be done in a fraction of the time." the host of the competition informed them all. "Hm, interesting." he said to himself more than anyone else as he worked through what he would do for his foods. He took some beef and seasoned it with some rosemary, olive oil, sea salt and cracked pepper. When done he put it in a hot pan to sear as he washed, peeled and cut seasonal vegetables into small chunks. Next he made a quick beef stock. To it he added a few herbs such as bayleafs, rosemary and parcely. Taking the beef out of the pan he let it sit as he added the vegetables to the stock after having tasting it. When he was content he started to slice the beef into strips and put it into the pot. "Okay, starter on the go... a hearty beef and vegtable soup." he whispered to himself as he cleaned his work station so he could go to the main course.

Next he grabbed some lean ground mince and placed it into a bowl before going to wash his hands again, he then grabbed some onion and carrot and washed them before cutting them into small cubes, the then quickly sauted them in a pan before put them into the bowl. With this done he threw some breadcumbs in as well as two eggs, seasoned it again with rosemary, salt and pepper then started to knead the mixture together with his hands until it was firm. When he was happy with the mass he placed it into a baking tray and placed it in a nearby oven before going to wash his hands "I won't need the vegetables just yet for that, so on to the desset I guess." he spoke to himself as he condemplated on what to make, soon a grin appeared on the teenagers face as he knew exactly what he wanted to try. Cleaning the station again he washed his hands once more and started to crush what would be classed as oreo cookies before getting a baking tray. The first thing he done was used some cooking spray the last thing he wanted was for the thing he was making to stick, then melted some butter as he placed the cookie crumbs into a bowl before adding the now melted butter. With this done he started to stir them into together as he added a pinch of salt and some sugar, before long it was firm yet somewhat crumbly, so added it to the eight inch pan and pressed it down. With the base done he now had to do the topping so placed cream cheese, pumpkin puree, sugar stirring until there was no lumps, happy with that he added an egg and some yoke, next he added vanilla extract folding it in, next came pumpkin spice, nutmeg, cinnamon and salt. With everything combined propperly he started to put the mixture over the base in the baking tin. He then got a roasting pan, put the baking tin in it and boiled hot water before pouring it into the roasting pan until it came half way up the baking tin and put it in the oven. With that done he cleaned up again, stirring the soup. He knew that the meatloaf and pumpkin crème brûlée cheesecake bars would normally take hours, luckily what he was using was enchanted so everything would be ready on time. He got some seasonal vegetables and started to sate, boil or steam them depending on what they were needed. He made sure that everything was seasoned before moving to take the meatloaf out and let stand taking it out of the tin after fifteen minutes.

During that time he had taken the cheesecake out and put the baking tin into the fridge turning off the oven before getting rid of the roasting tin. Turning back to the meatloaf he started to cut it and place the slices onto a plate with the vegetables, for gravy he decided just to use some of the leftover stalk he had allowing it to reheat and thicken before putting it into a jug. The soup was soon placed into a bowl and he moved to the fridge to bring out the pumpkin crème brûlée cheesecake which he cut into generous helpings and put a piece onto a plate. He was content with what he had done but he was unsure as to how it would fair, still he had fun doing it and hoped the others had, had fun too regardless of what they had made.

Post by Samira Nassar 30th December 2019, 1:18 am

"30 seconds on the clock left!" One of the judges called out, letting the contestants know that time was nearly up and that would be it. What was done was, and what wasn't....well hopefully what was there was presentable and cooked enough for the taste test. Everyone was pretty much done though and ready to go. Save for Chef Ramsey, who was finishing the extra complex details for presentation.

Ding, ding, ding. The little cutesy sounding alarm went off to indicate the contest was now over. "Time's up!" Another judge called out super enthusiastically. "Okay! Let's see what you all made for us today! This is going to be super exciting!" That judge pranced over to the contestant tables with two others following behind her normally. Clearly they were a little less energetic than the other one. The three started at one section with some other contestants, one that made an attempt at their usual cheese dip they entered every year. The judges coughed from all of the spice, but hey, they didn't die. The next table was a couple that had made some chili, which the judges had found to be enjoyable and tasty. Samira had the thought that maybe they should have asked beforehand if she and the other two Saints could have worked together as a team. Clearly if that couple was allowed to do so that they probably could have as well... and saved a whole lot of incoming embarrassment and/or fires.

Eventually though they made it to where Samira was, the first of the Wizard saints to be graded for the awesomely superior cooking skills they all surely had. "All right what do you have to show us?" That huge grin was bound to fade away the moment a bowl of cereal was presented but oh well. Samira gently pushed the bowl forward. "I have made this."

The judge's grin faltered for a moment as she got the hint that the young woman was completely serious. It was quickly forced back on. Truly she had seen worse anyway, but there was still the expectation that there would be a bit... more there. "Okay... Yea! This is... This is great! I like what you did with the... The... You know this is just too great to describe in words. What do you guys think?"
"We are not eating this, are we? Do you have any idea how long it's been sitting there?"
"It was done in a couple of minutes after the contest started. So after you do the math it would equate to quite a while."
"I wasn't really asking asking," the concerned judge whispered to the others to which they both shushed him.
"Can You tell us why you put this particular... meal together instead of something else?'
    "It was safer."
"She calls feeding people spoiled cereal safe?" The same judge whispered again only to get shushed once more.
The third judge now spoke up. "What do you mean safer?"
"My cooking causes apocalyptic catastrophes. To keep everyone around here safe while also being able to participate in the contest was to do the absolute minimum cooking required. So, you get a bowl of cereal. No rules were specified that would eliminate this sort of entry. It is putting ingredients together just like any other dish."
"Aren't you over-exaggerating just a little tiny bit? I'm sure you can make something simple that is more than a bowl of cereal."

"She made a grilled cheese once!" A spirit that was sitting over at the eating contest tables shouted. "Sort of. Never could use that same pan again after she was done. The grilled cheese had permanently become part of its DNA."

"Pans don't have DNA, you moron," added another spirit sitting at the same table.

    "You know what I mean!"

"Technically, she's been banned from many kitchens after trying to help, and causing explosions. Just trust us on this. I think she's probably capable of putting together a salad, but I'm kind of afraid at what she'd use in that salad."

The judges had no words. They just decided to move on to the next table. Obviously they were not going to try to eat that bowl of cereal for the tasting part of the contest. They could just leave it at that Samira would get a participation prize. She wasn't winning. Quickly they scooted themselves to Leona's table. They had no idea she had made a grilled sandwich to pair up with the horror story of the mentioned grilled sandwich at Samira's table. They were in for quite the surprise. Especially if the contest itself had a few tricks coming its way during that mischievous time of the year.

Post by Leona Jarnefeldt 1st January 2020, 11:44 pm

Leona heard the announcement that there were less than thirty seconds left before the time allotted for cooking elapsed and panicked even though her Asiago grilled cheese sandwich was ready before the announcement. She knew that she had not produced a culinary miracle by any stretch of the imagination, but she hoped that she had at least made something that would not send the person who ate it to the hospital. That was the best the blonde could hope for.

Leona listened to the talking beside her and heard Samira defend her choice of "dish" to the judges by claiming that were she to actually cook something the results would be catastrophic. Not only would Samira endanger herself by cooking something elaborate, but she would also endanger everyone around her. The Goddess of Humility's summons readily vouched for their mistress and it sounded like they did so of their own volition instead of doing so because she was their summoner. That should have sent up a big red flag to the judges, but they remained optimistic that the Goddess of Ishgar could cook better than she acted like she could. Samira remained adamant that a bowl of cereal was the safest thing she could prepare for the contest.

Eventually the judges gave up and made their way to Leona's area. The blonde grew nervous as she quietly pushed forward her offering to the judges and watched their eyes look upon the simple sandwich she had created for the contest. It was a little more brown than the Wizard Saint would have liked, but at least she had not scorched it black.

"What have you made for us today?" One of the female judges asked rhetorically. The blonde stifled the nervous feeling rising in her stomach and gave her answer.

"I made an Asiago grilled cheese sandwich." Leona answered calmly.

"Why did you choose to prepare that?" A male judge asked. Leona felt like she was being grilled like she had grilled the sandwich.

"I don't know a lot of recipes, to be honest." Leona answered truthfully. The judges raised an eyebrow at that claim. It looked like they were not buying it.

"Desierto has a wide variety of hearty foods. Why didn't you make something more complex?" The woman asked.

"I grew up in the desert. We worked a lot and didn't have a lot of time to make fancy meals, so we ate a lot of soup-based meals since they were quick to prepare and were easily stored for later." Leona defended her choice of a simple meal to the inquisitive judges. They seemed to buy that explanation but were still curious as to why Leona did not wow them with a dish from the desert. The blonde did her best to stay cool because she did not even want to be in this contest to start with but entered only because she was pressured into it. With Samira and Ruvel entering, Leona decided that she might as well join and make it something special for the audience, but now she was regretting that impulse.

Leona's attention was so fixated on the judges that she failed to notice that her sandwich was stirring to unholy life. However, the female judge noticed and was quick to comment.

"Oh, did you mean to make your sandwich come to life? That's amazing!" The woman commented. Leona looked down at the plate and noticed that the sandwich had somehow sprouted tiny legs made of crust and was "looking" at its creator with an open "mouth" dripping with melted cheese akin to how a rabid animal foamed at the mouth. The Wizard Saint had NOT planned for this to happen.

"Ummm... no, not at all." Leona replied meekly while desperately trying to figure out how her grilled cheese sandwich had come to life. She did not have much time to think because it spun away from her and faced the judges. The trio of judges involuntarily took a giant step back away from the sandwich and the Wizard Saint shifted her thoughts from trying to figure out how it came to life to figuring out how to stop it.

Why was this happening to her?

    Nothing Could Go Wrong Here

Ruvel heard the host calling that there were only thirty seconds left on the clock, unlike the rushing he heard from many of the contestants around him he seemed to keep his calm. It wasn't that he wasn't any less stressed than anyone else taking part in the competition, he just knew if he rushed on the finishing touches of his plating them it would have just looked bad and he wasn't allowing that to happen in the slightest. He was known for being a perfectionist sure but that was just how he was brought up, even small mistakes were treated as if it was going to end the world and so even now was afraid that he would be punished for messing up. Given that the other wizard saints had already let it be known that their cooking wasn't that good he was curious to know what they themselves had made, it didn't matter however so longs they had fun taking part as far as he concerned. The fact that their had been no fire alarms, yelling or the need to evacuate the area because of fire was also a nice added bonus in his mind. He had to go off muscle memory on how he normally had things look when it came to his main course, the dessert simply had a small cinnamon sugar cage around it after a few drops of chocolate around it that he had put a wooden skewer through them so they looked like chocolate hearts on the plate. On the alarm going off he stepped back knowing that it might be a while before he was got to, there was at least one other before his companions and then the dreaded famous chef beside him before other people. His might not be as fancy or same standards as the famous chef who seemed to get a kick of belittling others but he had made a good hearty three course meal so he was content with that.

The first group of people, at this point he was wishing that he had been with his companions at least this way they wouldn't have been humiliated like they most likely were feeling. This was only his speculation though, they could have been fine with taking part but then again they hadn't been told they could have worked in a team which kind of annoyed the young blonde god of Ishgar. He remained quiet and tried to work out what the first contestants tried to make whatever it was it didn't seem to go down well as coughing quickly ensued "What happened?" he enquired to one of the staff that where close by "Oh it's the Monroe's they do cheese dip every year and every year they use to much spice." the staff member replied to him "I think they used ghost pepper this year amongst others." he added making the youth facepalm, he wasn't one for spice but if you were going to spice a cheese using several types of raw pepper like they had wasn't the way to go. "The next group seemed to make a chilli, it's going over well." the staff member said to help Ruvel know what was going on giving his current situation, the youth was happy to be told what was going on. "Perhaps I should try some after the tasting of the competition." he said thoughtfully to himself, he was careful about what he ate as he normally stuck to things that he himself cooked, though that wasn't always possible given his job. It was then they got to his first friends station and he had to blink twice at what she has said she had made "Did she say just say she made a bowl of cereal?" he asked the staff member that seemed to be helping him at current with telling him what was going on "Yeah and she wasn't joking, she offered the judges a bowl of cereal that had been sitting out for quite some time as she made it right at the beginning." the staff member notified him making the take in a quiet if not frustrated breath, it wasn't the fact that she made cereal if that was all she was comfortable in doing, it was more the fact that it had been sitting out for almost an hour.

Soon after the quick interaction between Samira and the judges about the cereal the teal haired summoner's summons quickly jamp in to defend their summoner in their own strange way. Going by what they were saying, Samira should never be let anywhere near a cooking utensil let alone a kitchen and that frightened him just a bit. 'Note to self, never let Samira in any of the kitchens.' he thought to himself shuddering just a little at the thought of what the potential aftermath might be. With the vibrations he felt on the stage he snapped out of his own thoughts just in time to hear Leona say what she had made and the conversation that came after it. To him it made perfect sense why Leona might not have went with anything fancy, it wasn't an uncommon thing after all for people who were busy and didn't have the money to burn to eat basic but hearty foods such as soups or stews. The fact she hadn't almost poisoned them with a bunch of peppers or give them sour milk cereal should have made them happy, from what he smelt it was slightly over toasted but it wasn't that bad all in all. Many people would have happily eaten the sandwich and been happy with it, well that was until the last part that seemed to have played a part. "Come to life?" he said in disbelief, how was it that this kind of thing kept happening when the three came together? If it wasn't the fact that clothing was getting ruined it was something else and on this occasion it was a feral toasted cheese sandwich. "A little help please." he said to the staff member who nervously nodded and helped him over to Leona's table, using his heightened hearing he eventually grabbed the sandwich, at this point he moved back towards the fridge and threw it inside after opening the door and closed it before heading back to his own station quietly.

It wouldn't kill the sandwich but like everything that got cold he hoped it would stop it, it wasn't like it would do any harm but then again could the toasted cheese do anything other than give someone a scolding due to hot cheese? He would rather not put that one to the test in all honesty. The judges just looked on in complete confusion unsure on whether or not they should even continue the competition after the fiasco of almost being killed by overly spiced cheese fondue, sour milk cereal and an overly aggressive toasted cheese sandwich. "The chances are it came to life due to where this festival is taking place." he finally said remembering that they where so close to the haunted castle they may as well be trick or treaters at this point. He closed his eyes and brought up his blindfold to rub his eyes for a moment before going to wash his hands again for hygiene purposes "There is likely something in the castle that is causing mischief. Miss Nassar, Miss Jarnefeldt should we go and have a look?" he suggested to the pair of woman who likely wanted to get off the stage by now, he cared little for this competition at this point as though the grilled cheese was not dangerous, the next 'trick' might be and this was something he and likely the others would want to avoid at all costs if they could.

Nothing Could Go Wrong Here (Private, Event, Leona and Ruvel) Empty Re: Nothing Could Go Wrong Here (Private, Event, Leona and Ruvel)

Post by Samira Nassar 6th January 2020, 10:32 am

Silently, Samira listened in on how things were going at Leona's station. For some reason the judges became a bit more serious when dealing with her, and things sounded as if they could have gone a bit better. They must have expected a meal straight out of the sultan's palace kitchen. A bit of a strange thing for the judges to assume if they knew anything about the Saint of Courage. Of course, Samira herself also assumed Leona would be quite handy in the kitchen, but she never expected the blonde to be the grand master that the judges were expecting. Although, they did seem to think that she also was going to be an excellent chef when nothing in her own background that is known by the public indicated experience with cooking. Those judges had very high expectations as if a requirement for being a Wizard Saint was a mastery of the culinary skill. A thought crossed Samira's mind that perhaps she should prepare herself in case that ever became such a thing. There had to be a cooking school somewhere that wouldn't fear her kitchen cataclysms.

The Goddess of Ishgar was lost in thought for a moment, tapping her cheek with a finger as she considered varying options to get into a school without be automatically banned. Such choices were the honest way and hope for the best, a disguise, or just setting up a station somehow in the attic while listening to the instructions and positively expecting nothing to explode. The proverbial thought bubble that displayed the imagery of each solution popped upon hearing something she had not expected. "Come to life?" She repeated the words the judge had spoken, though her version was filled with confusion more than amazement. Her gaze once more glanced curiously towards Leona's station. Blink blink. Blink blink. It really was a living grilled cheese sandwich! Oh my, how intriguing!

Leona's confused state was not comprehended by Samira. It was more likely that she did not even notice. She left her own station behind and made her way over towards Leona's. The woman leaned forward to get a closer look at the sandwich. "You are quite the over achiever, Leona. How did you manage to accomplish this? Is this even within the rules of the contest, I wonder?" Frankly, would the judges even agree to eat something that was clearly living and in its own way kind of cute? There was no telling. Samira would have eaten it just as she ate the villainous gingerbread man so long ago. But, she was not a judge. It was not her place to taste test it. Instead, she would settle for poking the grilled cheese sandwich. Just to see what would happen. For science. And knowledge. And curiosity. Not because she just wanted to. Not at all. Unfortunately, just as she went to poke it, Ruvel had already taken it upon himself to remove the sandwich from the contest equation. No one would be taste testing or awing at the living food. With surprise followed by disappointment, Samira watched as Ruvel grabbed the sandwich and headed towards the fridge. From there the poor creature was tossed into the fridge with the door shut behind it. Oh... well. So much for that. She wasn't interested in a cold sandwich, and freeing it from its new prison was going to be more trouble than she bothered to deal with. Perhaps she would just take the entire fridge and remove the sandwich later. For magical science. Not because she wanted to document everything about it in her journals with every detail, including taste. Of course not that.

It was shortly after that, that Ruvel suggested going to check out the Haunted Castle. He did have a point. It was a good conclusion that there were tricksters among the spirits that haunted the place. Samira knew well enough about that, though her experiences with the Haunted Castle were a bit more fatal than just dealing with a relatively harmless grilled cheese sandwich. Her mood shifted from the neutral and carefree persona she had most of the time while around the other two Saints and grew serious. Grim even. A glare was sent in the direction of the castle, clearly evident that she disliked the place to the point of detest. Her magic presence and aura even shifted to feel darker and cold.  "I have already been in there once. I will not go in there again. We not only are not prepared for the things that lie in there, but there is a good chance that we will never make it out. I was barely successful the first time, and I am not willing to put it to the test just to say hello to the lingering occupants I met before." The place was a danger she was not willing to face again just to put a stop to some silly pranks and tricks. The girl Samira had went into the castle with the first time never even made it out as far as she was aware. She wasn't about to let herself, or her two friends, become the next ones to get trapped in there for eternity. "I will say that we can explore the perimeter if you so choose. The magic here is not the same as what is inside the castle. It is very likely the trickster spirits or whatever it is, is within the festival grounds and is not corrupted by the castle's full influence. Though, what about the contest?"

Yes, what about the contest? There still needed to be a winner! "Yes! What about the contest?! This Desierto princess cheated! I demand her disqualification! Same goes for the brat for leaving his station!" Chef Ramsey was not all too pleased by the current developments. He'd win this contest! Even if it meant making sure the competition was disqualified. The judges were a bit baffled. How were they supposed to proceed as is? Would the eating contest even commence at that rate? Should they have some kind of intermission to figure things out? They talked amongst each other, and the voices of the contest spectators joined in as they had their own gossip and comments to say to each other. During the noise though, something even stranger than Leona's grilled cheese sandwich coming alive started to happen.

The trickster behind the grilled cheese prank was none too pleased that it caused so little of a reaction. How quickly it was dismissed by being tossed in a refrigerator! Too easy. More fun needed to be had before it all came to an end! Sparks of magic appeared on and around the refrigerator. Then, as if it were becoming the next horror monster on the Lacrima Net videos, the fridge started to transform. Its surface morphed and took on a crusty texture, similar to that of toasted bread. The very same that could be found on a grilled cheese. The cheesy filling started to seep through the cracks of the door, and soon it had formed eyes, a mouth, and even legs, made out of a very thick crust that no living being at that festival could possible eat through. They did, after all, need to support the weight of said refrigerator.

"OH MY GOD!" One man in the audience shouted while pointing at the new monstrosity. "IT'S THE RECHEESERATOR!"

In response, the newest trick to the festival roared. Somehow. The science behind its ability to do that had not yet been documented by scholars. Cheese went flying everywhere during it, and people screamed. Though the cheese itself was harmless for the most part. Just... a bit disgusting if one didn't like the thought of being covered in it. Now Chef Ramsey was one that would not fear such a thing. Instead, he insulted the Recheeserator and its cheese. How dare! The Recheeserator opened its door, releasing cheese that acted as a rope that latched onto the pompous chef. Inside Chef Ramsey went as the cheese rope was pulled back and the door shut. Oh, dear. Now he was trapped within it. With another roar, the Recheeserator took off, shoving the fleeing audience that were in the way aside as it headed for the castle maze.

"It would appear Leona's magical grilled cheese sandwich has become a base for an entirely new creation,"  Samira commented with a slow blink of amazement as she watched the Recheeserator run off. She was thankfully not covered in cheese. Her protective barriers had prevented the substance from pouring over her. That sort of publicity did not need to exist. Her contest entry was bad enough. "We should probably follow it and remove the chef from its insides. I doubt he would be missed if we ignored the situation, but I suppose we cannot be too choosey on who needs aid. There is the benefit that we might find the source of this magic at least."

Nothing Could Go Wrong Here (Private, Event, Leona and Ruvel) Empty Re: Nothing Could Go Wrong Here (Private, Event, Leona and Ruvel)

Post by Leona Jarnefeldt 6th January 2020, 11:34 pm

Leona was trying to figure out how in the name of the sultan's turban she managed to bring an Asiago grilled cheese sandwich to life. She was also trying to figure out how in Earthland she was going to deal with it when Ruvel calmly walked over to Leona's station, grabbed it, and casually threw it into a refrigerator with about as much effort as it took to breathe. The dumbfounded blonde from the desert did not know that dealing with her first ever living, breathing, and angry sandwich would be that easy. Leona looked at the admiring Samira, who had inquired as to how the Wizard Saint managed to make her sandwich come to life and if doing so was within the contest rules. Lacking any other way to answer, Leona simply shrugged her shoulders.

"Samira, I don't even know what happened. I just cooked it like a normal sandwich and set it on a plate and when the judges came up it came to life. It stared at me, then stared at them before it got aggressive towards them. I'm pretty sure the contest rules don't cover living sandwiches because they never had to deal with that kind of thing before." The utterly surprised Leona recounted her side of the story to the Goddess of Humility. Leona was not sure how it had happened but was pretty sure that it would not happen again for a long time. There had to be some strange magic that had brought it to life and granted it a limited sentience, but where did it come from?

No one in the audience had cast any magic and Chef Ramsey would not deliberately upstage himself by making Leona's sandwich come to life. Such an act would draw attention away from him and towards Leona, someone he considered to be inferior to himself. There was no way that the egotistical blond man would do that because Chef Ramsey's favorite person was Chef Ramsey. Speaking of the chef, he stormed out from behind his station and began spewing baseless accusations at the trio in an effort to get them disqualified so that he could win. Leona frowned deeply... she did not need this nonsense right now, not when she was getting a headache from trying to figure out this whole mess.

"I'm NOT a princess and I didn't cheat! Neither did the others!" Leona answered the charges indignantly. She was getting tired of this man and his theatrics. Did he feel so threatened by the Wizard Saint and the God and Goddess of Ishgar that he had to resort to being a rules lawyer to find a way to eliminate his competition? It certainly seemed that way.

"If you want to settle this outside the kitchen, I'll be waiting for you, princess. We'll settle this, just you and me." Chef Ramsay offered, rolling up his sleeves to show off surprisingly muscular arms. Leona was floored. Did he really think that he could defeat a current Wizard Saint in a fistfight?

"What? NO! I'm not gonna fight you!" A stunned Leona announced indignantly. Chef Ramsey would not take no for an answer and pressed on. He issued his challenge again.

"OK princess, I figured that you were slow on the uptake, but this is ridiculous. You make potted plants look smart. Let me make this simple for you so that even a daft one like you can understand what I'm saying. ME. WANT. FIGHT." The blond man issued his challenge in terms so simple that they were utterly condescending. Leona frowned deeply. Now she really wanted to hop over the counter and introduce her fist to his face.

"ME WANT FIGHT! Surely you can understand that! ME! WANT! FIGHT!" He taunted. Leona was trying not to take the bait because if the man got his way it would not be anything resembling a fair fight. It would be pest control.

"C'mon princess! Since you can't cook, at least show me that you can fight!" He shouted at her, daring her to come after him. Leona took a deep breath and the audience started screaming in terror. The judges backed away from her. Were they that terrified that she would actually fight someone who did not stand a chance against her? Leona noticed a shadow blocking out the light and turned to face the source.

The refrigerator was undergoing a rapid and unexpected change. Leona stepped out of the station and beheld the metamorphosis of the grilled cheese sandwich's prison. She could not even begin to fathom how this was happening and trying to figure it out would only compound her headache.

Its metal surface morphed and took on a crusty texture, similar to that of toasted bread. The cheesy filling started to seep through the cracks of the door, and soon it had formed eyes, a mouth, and even legs made out of a very thick crust that no living being at that festival could possibly eat through unless it stood still and let them. The Wizard Saint simply stared at the refrigerator and wondered how much stranger this cooking contest could get.

Chef Ramsey was not intimidated by the "Recheeserator" and actually moved to confront it. Leona was too amazed by what was happening to stop him. She probably should have stopped him because the irate man insulted the refrigerator and its cheese in rather harsh terms and the Recheeserator responded by throwing a cheesy lasso around the man and dragging him in before running off in another direction and disappearing into the castle maze.

Leona was ready to go explore the castle perimeter when Samira suggested that the trio rescue Chef Ramsey from the newly created Recheeserator. The blonde sighed and put a hand to her head. This night was getting stranger by the minute and showed no signs of stopping. She would have rather left the egotistical man inside the ambulatory appliance for awhile, but it was her duty to save the people of Earthland whenever innocent lives were in danger. It was time to save the chef from the ambulatory cheesy purgatory he had gotten himself into with his sharp tongue and brusque manner.

"OK then. I say that we go rescue Chef Ramsey. There's no telling if the Recheeserator will stop with capturing just him, so we've gotta hurry." Leona said to Samira and Ruvel. She was glad for any excuse to get away from this contest, even if she ended up rescuing the very man who had repeatedly insulted her cooking skills, her heritage, and her intelligence. The blonde waited for Ruvel's opinion on the matter because the three needed to work as a team to end the cheesy threat.

    Nothing Could Go Wrong Here

Ruvel remained where he was at his station his eyes closed underneath his blindfold as he listened to how Samira believed that Leona had been an overachiever. Something had told him that this hadn't been Leona's doing but some mischievous imp doing it, of course he could be wrong but the distress coming from the saint of courage told him the former of the two options was most likely the more that latter but still he could have been wrong. It was then the staff started looking at the magical food, to the rules and back again mumbling about if this was allowed or not and what they should do. The blonde haired youth having keen senses thanks to being a demonslayer and with losing his sight his hearing had gotten that much keener. On occasions this was more of a hindrance than helpful but on this fateful day it seemed to be more the latter than the former. "The staff who are looking at the rules currently can not find anything that say that living food isn't against the rules, that being said their is a moral quandary on wither eating sentient food is actually murder or not." he said calmly remaining at his station but looking towards where he had heard Samira's voice. It was before he had thrown the infernal grilled cheese sandwich into the fridge that he had heard the thing almost giggle as if tickled, this had had him take pause for a moment as he blinked under his blindfold and couldn't help but sigh. He was sure that Samira had likely poked the thing on what would likely be its stomach like a mascot from one of the baking good brands often seen on the lacrima crystals. He cared for his companions deeply, but sometimes he felt like he wanted to facepalm and shake his head at some of the things they done. Then again he guessed he himself had quirks that likely drove them up the wall much like they did some of his former summons, still they wouldn't go away that easily if at all so it wasn't like he could judge them on how they were either.

He placed the living grilled cheese sandwich into the fridge in such a way because he seriously couldn't be paid enough to deal with the headache that thing was. Also in his mind until they decided what to do with the thing it could be argued that it likely would have been the safest place to put it for its sake as someone most likely Samira would try to take a bite out of it or it would try and spit hot melted cheese at people after growing to be at least ten foot tall. They were inside the cursed lands after all near the haunted castle so he wasn't really putting anything to chance if he could help it on the latter. The former he had spent so much time around the goddess of humility that he knew her childlike curiosity would get the better of her and she would end up having a stomach that would talk to her, would make her act strange... well stranger than normal or give her food poisoning. Not that the last option would be Leona's fault but they had no idea what sort of magic was being used and so anything could really happen if someone decided to eat it. Truly, if it had been up to him the thing would have already been incinerated but it wasn't up to him so the sandwich should at least be thankful for that. He had already suggested about entering the place a little while ago but with how Samira acted it was clear she wasn't going to go in willingly. "The last time you went in there, were you at your current strength and with two others of similar strength?" he enquired trying to gauge just how bad it would be for them "Also, I have summons who read thoughts of those who they come in contact with naturally due to reasons so we would have the upperhand." were it was true they wouldn't tell what was inside a person's mind, the dead they came across; well of course they respected their privacy too but they mattered little when it came to the living so would tell but only what was needed for safety's sake. "They would only give us what we needed to keep us safe but sometimes the secrets or threat of them coming out is enough for people to back off, of course there is also the chance of frenzy due to fear." he said as if dissecting the pros and cons of going into the place under such circumstances.

The thought of looking around the grounds of course had its own merits, perhaps the one who had been causing the unexplained life in the grilled cheese wasn't inside but around it as Samira had said, it didn't seem quite corrupted enough to have been in the castle itself but then who knew. In his mind it could have been a child playing the pranks but that would all come down to the innocence of the child when they passed and not being influenced by others alive or dead. Only time would tell he guessed. On hearing Samira's question he tilted his head with a shrug "What about it?" he asked as if it meant very little to him at this point "Even innocent pranks could be potentially dangerous don't you think? We have a duty to keep the people here safe after that's sorted we could finish this and go on about enjoying the rest of the day." he said thoughtfully as if he had thought this through, he hadn't though it just seemed logical to him. He couldn't help roll his eyes as it seemed the famous chef seemed to want to chime in about what he believed "Oh will you be quiet you insufferable idiot." the youth said coldly "One, Miss Jarnefeldt isn't a princess please do your research before talking to one of us you just come off as a fool otherwise, in addition to that it is a compliment to call someone a princess when they come from a humble beginning like Miss Jarnefeldt has. Two, since you weren't listening like the narcissist you quite obviously are I will repeat myself, there is no rule against bringing food to life. Three, there is no rule against leaving stations during or after the fact so neither of us would be getting disqualified. So sorry to disappoint." his voice hadn't changed it was clear that he had some sort of hate towards the two wizard saints because he hadn't mentioned Samira at all and she too had left her station.

It had all started now, it seemed like the chef wanted to throw down old fashion style with Leona, this guy really was a moron in his opinion. He was picking a fight with a woman who could likely end his life in a single punch even if she was holding back, he had no words as to describe what he thought about the elder man. It was when he started insulting her he growled a little under his breath "Listen you pompous arrogant windbag, you are only making yourself look like a clown by picking this fight..." he started as he began walking back to Leona's station where everything seemed to be taking place "She is far stronger than yourself and even if she were to hold back you would still end up knocked out so take the advice of someone clearly smarter than the weed you are and back down before you get hurt." He wasn't threatening in anyway, that wouldn't do any good in all honesty it wasn't Ruvel's way of getting things done; his way of battle was through words and it was clear that the audience was snickering at what the youth had to say about and to the chef. "You realise it is a disqualifiable offence to incite violence in another participant right chef." he said calmly knowing the waiver/rules of this contest thanks to Shidara and Amuul telling him "So other than showing people just how foolish you are by challenging someone who you stand no chance against in a fight, proving just how abusive you are mentally to people thus likely destroying your reputation, you have also been disqualified from a simple baking contest you were trying to win by underhanded tactics. Congratulations the clown king award goes to you." he said while slowly clapping stopping by Leona's side, the chef however wouldn't get a chance to argue or lash out at what he had said thanks to what came next.

It was when an audience member called out Ruvel turned around as if to look, of course that was out of the question this was just a force of habit. "Well would you look at that" he said as if he could see it, going by what was being said around him the idiot that was the ever arrogant chef Ramsey had been eaten by the mutated fridge "Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy in my honest opinion." he was really wondering if they had to save the annoyance that was the world famous chef Ramsey, in honesty he really didn't want to but he knew they should. He himself hadn't been hit by any of the warm melted cheese that had come flying from the now toasted fridge cheese sandwich as his necklace activated to protect him as he sensed danger. "If it isn't infernal vending machines it is out of control refrigerators" he started to rub his temples, it was clear this was giving him a headache. It had been months since he had been allowed to leave the safety of his ancestral home and this happens, he wished he was there at current but alas he was here but then what had he expected from the cursed lands in all honesty. "You know Miss Nassar I was thinking roughly the same thing. We should get going." he said feeling a hand on his shoulder as Seiyuki had joined him on stage ready to lead him when he was ready. "I really could do with some cheese fondue right now." he commented as he walked off the stage, the smell of cheese was really making him crave some which was strange in itself.

Nothing Could Go Wrong Here (Private, Event, Leona and Ruvel) Empty Re: Nothing Could Go Wrong Here (Private, Event, Leona and Ruvel)

Post by Leona Jarnefeldt 31st January 2020, 12:15 pm

It was only when Leona recalled what Ruvel had said to Chef Ramsey preceding his capture by the Recheeserator that she realized she had dodged a bullet. She vaguely recalled Ruvel saying that Chef Ramsey had committed an offense that could get him disqualified from the cooking contest when he had challenged Leona to a fight. Leona's face went pale. While she was not going to win the contest except by divine intervention, she did not want to get him disqualified because that would make her look like the rules lawyer who had to resort to technicalities in order to place higher in the contest. Chef Ramsey was the rules lawyer trying to get her disqualified for a freak accident that was beyond her control.

Leona had dodged a bullet; if she had actually accepted the challenge she would have disqualified as well along with a host of other consequences. She was glad that she was so stunned that she could not act on her impulse to give him what he had coming after he blithely insulted her lack of cooking ability and her desert upbringing. Inaction had saved Leona and her reputation. Leona needed to learn to better control her temper so that she could avoid temptation to do things she really should not. The Recheeserator had taken care of the problem for her and now she had to save Chef Ramsey from suffocating within the confines of the Recheeserator.

    Leona sighed.

Even though it was her job as a Wizard Saint, she was still reluctant to go to Chef Ramsey's rescue because the arrogant dimwit would not learn a single thing from this episode. He would not learn anything and would go right back to being a belligerent jackass once Leona, Samira, and Ruvel saved him from his own stupidity. if she were really unlucky Chef Ramsey would have still more insults waiting on the Wizard Saint and her colleagues because he was not rescued fast enough or the rescue was not done properly or some other petty reason to hurl insults. Leona put aside her own negative feelings because she had a job to do. Even though Chef Ramsey was a conceited jackass who had an inflated opinion of himself and his importance to the world, he was in trouble and Leona would rescue him. Reluctantly.

"I'll go ahead and track the Recheeserator. I'll walk instead of run so that you guys can keep up with me!" Leona said to Samira and Ruvel before setting off at a brisk walk. It was not like the Recheeserator was a master of stealth. It was at least ten feet tall and had left a trail of Asiago cheese blobs for the trio to follow. Plus it was a giant mutant refrigerator that had just plowed through some shrubbery to get into the Haunted Maze. How hard could it possibly be to follow it?

Considering who she was and her propensity to missing obvious clues, Leona decided to call in her eyes in the sky to hedge her bets. Once she was safely away from the crowd, Leona summoned the Harpy Sisters.

"O FABLED HARPIES, O SISTERS THREE, LEND YOUR STRENGTH UNTO ME!" Leona called out with her hands raised to the sky. Moments later the winged trio had arrived to aid their mistress.

"Hey girl!" Sylvia cheerfully greeted Leona.

"Looking for a guy to go out with?" Daphne asked in a facetious tone.

"I don't think it's that simple, Daphne. It's rarely that simple." Sandy snarked.

"Actually, I'm looking for a mutant refrigerator that ran off into that maze." Leona told the trio, pointing towards the Haunted Maze with the index finger of her right hand. The three winged girls looked towards the maze and then looked towards her.

"Wait. Lemme get this straight. You're looking for a giant mutant refrigerator in a hedge maze." Sylvia repeatedly flatly. Leona nodded while making eye contact.

"A mutant refrigerator, huh? Is there a guy trapped inside of it?" Daphne asked Leona. Again Leona nodded. Daphne did not know whether to look pleased that she had guessed right or concerned that she had guessed right.

"Why does this kind of weird stuff always happen to us?" Sandy lamented. Leona wanted to learn the answer to that question as well, but it was likely to be a question that would never get an answer. All the Wizard Saint knew was that whenever she, Samira, and Ruvel got together, weird and improbable things happened to them. An animated Asiago grilled cheese sandwich and a giant mutant refrigerator brought to unholy life by the grilled cheese sandwich were but two of the most recent strange happenings that had occurred when the trio got together.

"I don't know, Sandy. I need you guys to help me find it before it can capture any more people." Leona got back to the point of calling them to begin with. The trio nodded and took flight, hovering just a few feet above Leona.

"We'll track it for you and report when we find it!" Sylvia assured Leona before the trio flew up and towards the Haunted Maze. Once they had moved on the Wizard Saint resumed her walk towards the maze, following the occasional glob of melted cheese the Recheeserator had left behind during its flight from the contest area. If Ruvel and Samira hurried they should be able to catch up with her without too much difficulty.

    -Outside the Haunted Maze-

Having tracked the Recheeserator this far, Leona stopped and glanced a giant hole in the hedges made by the mutant refrigerator. It was in the shape of a giant refrigerator and a glob of melted cheese sat on the bottom of the hole to mark its passage. It looked like that commercial where that drink mascot shaped like a pitcher had broken through the wall, but this situation was not very funny. She, Samira, and Ruvel had to save the thoroughly obnoxious Chef Ramsey before he suffocated within the confines of the animated appliance. The trio also had to stop the Recheeserator from abducting anyone else, a task which might be a challenge because she heard the sounds of screaming coming from deeper within the maze and she hoped that she was not too late to save them.

"Talk to me, Sylvia. Do you or anyone else see it?" Leona telepathically asked her eyes in the sky.

"No, not yet. But we do see a lot of screaming people running for the maze exit, so be careful." Sylvia reported back.

"OK. Let me know the instant you see it." Leona ordered. She wondered how on Earthland both she and her harpies could not see a giant refrigerator with the texture of a grilled cheese sandwich. Maybe it had spontaneously developed a chameleonic cloak or maybe it was just at an angle where her harpies could not see it yet. Leona paused for a moment, then stepped through the hole while avoiding the cheese. She hoped that Ruvel and Samira would follow her soon.

Note: I have OOC permission from Samira to skip her.

Nothing Could Go Wrong Here (Private, Event, Leona and Ruvel) Empty Re: Nothing Could Go Wrong Here (Private, Event, Leona and Ruvel)

Post by Samira Nassar 9th April 2020, 2:41 am

Samira was relieved that her two companions and fellow Saints had agreed to help her rescue the chef from his eternal cheesy fate. They were hesitant, she could tell that much, but she approved of the result that came from their inner conflicts. The angel on the shoulder had won instead of the devil that wanted to let the chef learn a lesson or two no matter what sort of suffering came from being stuffed and locked inside a Recheeserator. Though, Samira did find a weird sense of humor when Leona mentioned that she would walk ahead instead of run after the creature. The reasoning was sound and considerate for both Ruvel and herself, but usually people opted to be considerate for the one that needed rescuing and therefore would have ultimately chosen to act as quickly as possible. The summoner couldn't help but smile awkwardly at that. Oh, dear. Maybe the devil and angel decided to go halfsies. The devil would allow the angel to rescue the chef but only if it were done as slowly as possible. It was doubtful it was intentional when it came to Leona. Samira never took the woman to be that spiteful, but maybe she had a little bit of a dark side in her subconscious that she didn't know about.

"All right, I will catch up with you shortly." A gentle wave was given as Leona took off at a fast paced walk. The teal-haired woman had to resist the urge to chuckle as she watched. Leona had been serious about walking. Really Samira didn't know why they weren't just sticking together, but she supposed there was some sense in splitting up to cover more ground, especially in a maze. Either way, she needed to get a few of her spirits on board with helping. "You can go ahead, Ruvel," Samira suggested politely as she turned towards the other mage. "I need to acquire some reinforcements." Then she walked away, leaving the male of the mage trio there to either go his own way or follow Leona. Her destination being the eating contest table where many of her spirits were gathered, waiting for a contest that probably wasn't going to start anytime soon if at all now.

"I need some of you to come with me and help in capturing this Recheeserator creature."

The human form Kukulkan waved her hand nonchalantly before pushing her chair back and lifting her feet to rest on the table. "You three have it covered. Today is our day off."

"Yeeeaaaa, the monster combo is odd and all, but kind of says lame too. We're part of the cool spirits club now. We don't just take on ANY monster. Handling a Recheeserator is D rank pay. Tsk tsk. Not good for the resume."

"The hell do you need a resume for? And 'cool spirits club'? Is that a thing or did you just make that shit up to sound stupidly conceited?"

"It's a thing, and I know because I happen to be the president!" Agni proudly pointed at himself, both of his heads having the largest grin possible.

"Oh, celestial's sake," Susano muttered and rubbed his forehead to ease the headache that was coming from hearing such nonsense.

"We will all remain here, Samira," Isis gently spoke. "I believe you and your friends can handle this one without us. We will make sure that the rest of the festival guests here remain safe." Normally that would have been a very reassuring statement. They would at least be doing something and helping out somehow. However, Samira had her...concerns. As they were speaking there were people screaming and shouting in overly exaggerated horror, creating chaos, tripping over themselves as they rank amok. Not even the booths were spared as many were knocked over or destroyed in the chaos. And where were her spirits? Sitting there. Watching.

"I'm starting to think we got the harder job here. Are we sure the Recheerator is the real danger? These people are freaking nuts!"

"Eh, probably has something to do with the tricks theme. Someone is REALLY taking advantage of it. Is it wrong to say I am enjoying this show?"

"Yes," Samira replied with great disapproval that the question had even been asked. She was already disappointed that they denied her request to aid in the hunt, but she still expected them to treat the situation as more than some entertaining spectacle. "Now make sure this does not get any worse if you all intend to remain here. I have a-" Samira trailed off. Even mentioning the name someone had labeled the monster was absolutely ridiculous. She sighed. It was going to be interesting writing an official description for the creature when it was all over. "Recheeserator to capture."

"Be sure to bring it to us so we can eat it!" Serqet shouted after Samira as she left to catch up to Leona. What had that spirit been doing during the entire conversation? Taking advantage of the distraction and messing up the competition entrees. They would all be failures when it came to taste! She would see to it that the competitive field was equal!

Within the maze the Recheeserator was up to no good. It chased the people that had gotten lost within its twists and turns, and some had the unfortunate happening of becoming like Chef Ramsey. Its cheesy lasso looped around them and tugged them into its open door before it slammed shut and locked them inside. Now how was that possible? It certainly wasn't big enough to hold more than one whole person! The answer was simple and was also why the chef did not suffocate while being meshed into the cheesy insides of the Recheeserator. When it "ate" the people and shut the door, the person was transported to an empty dimension made entirely out of cheese. They were trapped, but at least they were not dead, and they wouldn't starve unless they hated cheese. But hopefully Leona and Samira would come to their rescue before dehydration and starvation became an issue.

There might have been one thing both of the renown mages did not consider; more food monsters. The Recheeserator was just the first. It was multiplying! As the Recheeserator ran about to eat more people, tiny crumbs fell off of it. From those crumbs tinier grilled cheese sandwiches grew and mutated. In their tiny crust hands they held guns that appeared to be similar to water guns. Except these guns did not fire water. As their ammunition the guns contained hot boiling tomato soup! The ultimate sidedish for a grilled cheese sandwich had become its best weapon! Others held tiny butter knives. Not good for Samira, Leona, or anyone else that crossed the path of the tiny sandwich demons. They were either dangerous... or something that might not be taken too seriously until they gave some soup burns or poked an eye or two. The sandwiches scattered while screaming mighty and fierce battle cries. Things would only continue to escalate from there.

Nothing Could Go Wrong Here (Private, Event, Leona and Ruvel) Empty Re: Nothing Could Go Wrong Here (Private, Event, Leona and Ruvel)

Post by Leona Jarnefeldt 10th April 2020, 8:57 pm

Aware that backup from Samira and her summons was still a good distance away, the Wizard Saint proceeded through the hedge maze with caution. The Recheeserator had punched numerous holes in the hedge maze and had left behind globs of cheese that made it easy to track. Leona had finally met something that was even less subtle that she was, which was saying a lot. The Wizard Saint of Courage was not known for intelligence or subtlety... she was still surprised that she had managed to infiltrate that cult with the headquarters in Spooky Forest, but that was due to their pressing need for members instead of any competence in covert operations. Then there was that other time she had managed to sneak into the Crimson Sashes compound along with the Regudo, but that was because their prince and his hand-picked elite bodyguards had instructed her and helped her along the way.

Leona soon heard noise that indicated she was far from alone in the maze. She heard numerous high-pitched voices that were way too high-pitched to be human, but she had not made visual contact with them and thus could not see what exactly was making them. Leona wound her way through the maze until she reached a clearing and finally saw the source of the voices. Standing 400 meters away was a quintet of animated grilled cheese sandwiches wielding various weapons. Three of them held water guns filled with a red liquid of some sort and two held butter knives.

All of them were leaking melted cheese from a hole in the center that made them look rabid... well, as rabid as animated grilled cheese sandwiches could be. Leona blinked when she saw them and wondered how much stranger this evening was going to get. Somehow the blonde suspected that this was only the beginning of a very strange night.

The sequence of events that had led to this moment was a strange one. First her Asiago grilled cheese sandwich had come to life on the plate during the contest. Then it had somehow merged with the refrigerator Ruvel had placed it in to create the Recheeserator. Then the Recheeserator had come to life, captured Chef Ramsey, and ran off into the hedge maze to do whatever animated Recheeserators did. Now Leona, Ruvel, and Samira were tasked with stopping it before it captured everyone at the festival and crammed them into its boxy grilled interior.

The quintet of guard sandwiches noticed her and raised a high-pitched cry of "DEATH TO THE HUMAN!" and awkwardly "rushed" to attack the Wizard Saint. In this case "rush" was more like a fast and awkward waddle, but the point remained. A blinking Leona drew her knife and stood her ground against the charge of the angry sandwiches. This would be a quick fight.

Leona raised her left hand, channeled silver magic into it, and then released a Wind Blast spell long before the hapless creatures got within range of her. All five of them fell down and kicked their little grilled legs in the air in an effort to get back to their feet. Their cries were squeals of terror as Leona approached them to cut them in half before they could get up again. Leona approached the first one holding a squirt gun loaded with the red liquid, knelt down, and split it in half with a single one-handed downward chop to the middle of the body. Its body had all the toughness that could be expected of a grilled cheese sandwich and split in a single chop, causing it to die in an anticlimactic but humorous fashion.

"I WILL KILL SHE WHO KILLED MY BROTHER!" A second sandwich with a squirt gun bellowed a fiery cry of revenge just before Leona split it in half with as much effort as it took to dispatch the first. She was prioritizing the enemies with ranged weapons so that if they did rally before she could kill them all the only weapons she had to face were butter knives. Unless she stood still and let them repeatedly attack her in a vulnerable place like the eyes or the throat, the butter knives were of little threat to her.

Leona dispatched the third and last sandwich armed with a squirt gun using a downward chop of her knife, then turned to the fourth sandwich with a butter knife and dispatched it in similar fashion. This was so easy that it was kind of sad. As Leona turned to the last helpless sandwich holding a knife coated with melted cheese, it bellowed defiance at her.

"My brothers will avenge me!" It yelled with a wave of the butter knife just before Leona split it down the middle. The Wizard Saint was not sure what to make of what had just happened. She had just killed animated grilled cheese sandwiches that could talk and had concern for their fellows. She did not have time to ponder how they obtained their weapons because she heard more high-pitched voices coming in her direction. They must have heard the sounds of "battle" and hurried to the fight to help their brothers, but little did they know that they were already too late to be of help.

A larger unit of ten sandwiches all armed with butter knives awkwardly rounded the corner and saw the remains of their fallen friends. They gazed upon the sight and gasped with horror, then looked towards the puzzled Wizard Saint clutching a weapon coated with the melted cheese of their friends. Their horror turned to thoughts of revenge upon the blonde and their vocalizations mirrored their thoughts.

"WE'LL MAKE YOU PAY FOR WHAT YOU'VE DONE!" One of the angry sandwiches yelled. Its fellows chattered in agreement.

"YOU'LL PAY FOR THIS IN BLOOD!" A second promised while waving a butter knife.

"WE'LL START BY CUTTING YOUR FILTHY LEGS OFF, WOMAN! ONCE WE DO THAT WE'LL CUT OFF YOUR HANDS AND LET YOU BLEED TO DEATH WHILE WE BATHE IN YOUR BLOOD!" A third sandwich shouted what kind of punishment they had in mind to try and intimidate her. Leona took a step back and blinked. These were some psychotic sandwiches that she had run into. She wondered if they had gotten into some jalapeno peppers when they were born... spawned... however they had come to unholy life.

"...OK..." Leona said with a trace of concern. She was not sure how they had come to life with such violent personalities, but she knew how to get rid of them. She would chop them in half and send them back to the great grill in the sky. The grilled cheeses gathered up and issued one last war cry before "rushing" to the attack.

"FOR THE RECHEESERATOR!" They all cried before starting their charge. At the end of this evening there would be a lot of melted cheese on the ground and a lot of split sandwiches. This would certainly be a strange chapter in the eventful career of the Wizard Saint of Courage.
