Kyran's head split as his hangover hit him with a one-two punch. He nearly doubled over. Unlike the torture of his youth, this was real hell. How did some people - Adalinda - deal with this every day? The cold nipped at his heels too, only adding to his distress. The demons cackled in his head. They were enjoying this moment of weakness for their host. His distress at the letters he'd been recieving delighted them even more. Kyran knew they were waiting to pounce once his vulnerability reached its peak.
However, that wouldn't be today. He planned to surprise his wife with a date. The city was celebrating winter and it seemed like a perfect opportunity to go out. The babysitter was watching the kids; hopefully she didn't die with five kids. So many couples out Malinda purred. Kyran growled before the snake could finish. They were not going to tempt others, play swingers or whatever twisted fantasy the snake was about to suggest.
The door of the Ace of Spades had mistletoe hanging above it. Kyran leaned against the doorframe and eased the door open. With a tendril of magic, he sent his voice to Gaia. "Gaia... come out here." He whispered. The wind curled his voice around her ear. "The kids are with the babysitter, and we're free for the evening."
When Gaia approached, Kyran swung into the doorway. The movement made his head scream. The demons laughed again. Let them mock his pain. "Mistletoe." He murmured, dipping his head. The caress of her lips on his soothed away all his pain. His hands rested on her hips. When the redhead pulled back, his eyes stayed closed. He savored the moment of nothing but Gaia.
His eyes slid open and Kyran smiled at his wife. "Shall we start our date with Karaoke? I noticed a booth on the way here." He asked after a moment. The redhead waited, taking Gaia's hand. His thumb glided over the back of her hand. This date wouldn't be a disaster. He was determined to make it good.
