    Baird Yuzill

‘Baird Yuzill, we are pleased to inform you that you have been invited for preliminary testing to assess your aptitude in a special business venture. We have been following your career with a vested interest and believe you to be an excellent candidate to fill a vacancy within our organisation.

Our organisation is made up of various men, and woman with goals and skills very similar to your own, and as such we will it is only in our best interest to extend this opportunity out to you. If you are interested, please meet one of our associates at Beanstalk Village at 7 PM. We hope to see you there.’

That’s what the letter said… Baird wasn’t one to receive letters. Or at least often and from someone not a ‘lover’. Even those letters had dwindled to non as he started cutting off contact with some of the people he tried to seduce, only kept in touch with at least one person. One of the Rune Knights that worked often at the Magic Council. They were wrapped around his finger so tight, he could just send a letter saying nothing more than ‘hi’ and receive a detailed report of what’s going on in the magic council that he could exploit. Bringing his thoughts back to the letter, Baird tapped his chin. Would this be worth it? A test for something? What exactly is the test for? A curiosity was starting to get the better of him as he read the letter over once again. Maybe he’d check it out. Included with the letter was a second one, with a ring in a little packet. He was to wear it when he went to the meeting, and how to use this ring. Apparently it could make him look different. That was interesting.

After reaching Beanstalk Village, he takes out his flute and begins to play a whimsical tune on it. He arrived there looking like one of his favorite friends he knew. Jester. Red hair and looking rather clownish with the face paint on. He wore his own monk robes though. How he missed the tomfoolery he had with Jester back at Nightmare. Maybe he would go out and find Jester to play again. He needed to focus on what was at hand for the time being though. What would he need to do here? This village was too quiet. It needed some screams here and there. Or at least an audience to hear him play. A smile was on his face as he thought of that. As he thought of an audience, he started changing up his song a bit to play something a bit more fitting for himself. The tune started to pick up and he mused to himself while he played the new tune. Already, he was deciding if this was boring he’d be leaving the person high and dry. He needed some fun, especially after Nightmare disappeared into the night for a second time. Strangely enough, he missed the guild he came to originally. It was where he was able to express his creativity like it was nothing and able to infiltrate wherever he wished. The memories there he felt he could cherish, especially meeting Jester and Yuiisai there. The thought of Yuiisai made him almost falter in his music as he blushed. She was a beauty he missed. She was off to Midi or wherever to do some sort of soul searching or some random thing like that.

First up on his agenda, finding out what this organization that apparently wants him was. Would they meet his needs as well? Would they let him play his music as he wished? Would they let him be him? Would this be a… he shuttered at the thought, an actual business organization that needed him in a suit and tie often? He finished his song and hissed to himself. He should just leave now. This already wasn’t rubbing him the right way. Reaching his left hand up, he rubbed under his left eye, where his guild tattoo for Nightmare used to be, both versions of the tattoo that is. He honestly felt naked looking in a mirror without it now. But, it’d be worse without his ability to have his instruments. Looking at the flute, Baird slowly slipped out the sword and smirked to himself. Maybe he could have a bit of his own fun here while he waited for this ‘associate’ he was supposed to meet, that is, if they weren’t already there waiting for him and he was just in the wrong area.

    -Beanstalk Village, 7 P.M.-

Wearing her guild armor and disguised as an ordinary blonde girl with green eyes, a green t-shirt, and a black skirt with black tennis shoes and large dark sunglasses perched on her head thanks to the disguise ring, Stiletto walked into Beanstalk Village at 7 P.M. on the dot. It was a quaint place compared to Capital Crocus or Bellum, but it had a certain rustic charm that the big cities could not match. Her assignment was to meet with a potential new recruit and see if they were interested in joining Hidden Blades. She was not sure why he did not go to Ground Zero, but it was not her place to question her assignments. Her job was to carry them out.

She was here to find someone only known as "The Target." It was a vague name, but then again she did not know very much about the individual other than they were of interest to the guild. That was all she needed to know.

Stiletto put on her sunglasses and started her search for "The Target" but was hampered by the simple fact that she did not know her way around the village. She opted to take a different approach and reached out with her ability to sense magic. Soon she found a magic signature just one level below her own and started homing in on it. The blonde followed it through the village streets and past crowds of villagers going about their daily lives... she could even smell the alcohol on the breath of a few villagers who had hit the taverns earlier in the day.

After quite a bit of searching she found someone with a flute in his possession and paused in place. The briefing did not mention The Target owning a musical instrument, but the red-haired person had a magic signature one level below her own, so the blonde proceeded with caution. She slowly walked up to him and gave a friendly greeting.

"Hi there!" Stiletto greeted him in a friendly, feminine voice that was befitting of a perpetually cheerful blonde. The mage was thankful for the voice changer included in the armor.

Post by Artemis Dagger 9th June 2019, 8:20 am

There was a certain hesitation that Artemis felt when he reviewed the file of the newest interest to the guild. A bout of uncertainty. The man was talented, effective, and quite powerful, however, he was also chaotic in nature and seemed to be performative about his work. He seemed to enjoy creating a show, which was something that didn't work in Hidden Blades. Because discretion was key. Despite this, there was something about him that just struck Artemis as intriguing. Plus, with a job like this, having someone especially skilled in the act of merciless killing, well it was worth considering. Especially with the loss of agents upon Artemis's takeover of Hidden Blades.

Upon making his decision to contact the musically inclined fellow, Artemis would set about arranging a plan for testing him. He, of course, needed to confirm his skills before they could recruit him fully into Hidden Blades, and coming up with effective tests for people wasn't easy. However, as a planned came to mind, he would email Blanche with his request. Who would, of course, set up everything as planned. He arrived at Beanstalk village in the early hours of the morning, preparing the scene. He had paid the villagers in advance to partake in the little 'event', stating that they were running trials for a new in city event and were considering Beanstalk Village as one of the hosts for a festival. The villagers had been convinced fairly easily and more than eager to partake. Artemis would just have Blanche send them a fake letter in a few weeks saying that unfortunately, they didn't make the cut. Wearing the guild armour, he would sit inside the village leaders tent, waiting casually.

In the distance, he would hear the flute and smirk under his mask. So it seemed he had arrived, he would stand. Making his way out of the door, if this Baird fellow was here, then that would mean that Stiletto would likely be arriving soon as well. Having picked her as a candidate for the test today, based on her skill set. As he made his way outside, he would turn his head to follow the sound of music. Spotting him in the distance, he would watch a woman approach him. Artemis narrowed his eyes, for a disguise, she had certainly chosen something that looked well...exactly like her or at least especially similar. He decided that it was no matter for now and made his way over to him.

"I see you wore the ring, thank you for coming." He said as he approached, he was in the Unclassified armour, except for that it was painted red and black, the helmet distorting his voice significantly so that it sounded much deeper and huskier than normal. "For the sake of protecting your identity, we'll refer to you as Music Man. This here is one of my agents, who I've invited here for the purpose of this meeting." He stated, glancing to her, "Thank you for coming also." He added before continuing. "My company has found a great interest in you, your skills and talents would be very useful to us. We would like to offer you a job, granted you can pass a certain test we have provided. Of course, if you're not interested, we can forget the whole thing. But I'm sure you must be a little curious, seeing as you came all the way here."

    Baird Yuzill

When the musician finished his playing, he glared over towards the blonde when she spoke to him. Then he let himself smile rather wide. “Hello, my sweet! Do you have some baksheesh for me? Tips? I don’t play for free~!” He snickered as he turns on his heel before leaning over to his right to be slightly upside down. She was boring. Not like his Yuiisai. She also made him feel sick with how cheerful her voice was. Would it be bad to try to kill her? He glanced over as he spotted a man in armor coming towards them. He let his eyes glare some more, until the man wearing the armor spoke to him. He knew of the ring, and a grin formed on his face as he showed his teeth. Maybe he could play some here. “Wearing the ring you see, Whatever this test is, I’ll probably pass with a… eh, B... minus.” He stuck out his tongue while shrugging his shoulders before he put the flute to his lips and made a brief chirping melody one would probably associate with little fairies.

At the new ‘name’ he was to be referred to as, he paused and nods slowly as he makes a satisfied face. “Music Man is who I be, That is a name I know well. Interested in this thing you see. My music will be nothing but swell.” He couldn’t help himself as he was enjoying trying to copy Jester in his rhymings. He had turned himself around to face away from the two before he leaned backwards to get a better look at them… from upside down at least. He wasn’t as flexible as Jester was, else he’d lean farther back and do a handstand and jump around more. He did look over to the blonde again though. She apparently worked with this armor guy. Guess it was good he didn’t attempt to kill her yet. He just hoped she wouldn’t speak again. Watch his luck. “Music Man wants to play. If your job is as fun as my play, I might let you show me a way.” He snickered as he makes himself stand right up again and releases his flute.

He placed his hands on his hips as he leans forward now towards the guy in the mask. “Show me your test. I hope it will be fun. I feel in the mood to play a lot. Also, what should I call you and your ‘agent’?” He couldn’t help himself as he wanted to bring out another instrument, but he refused himself. He had looked towards the girl again and crossed his arms over his chest as he decides to lean over towards her. Schmoozing her up might help him. “Will I get the pleasure of taking a lovely test with an absolute true beauty like you proctoring it?” He was mentally gagging. He wanted to wreck things. Cause a commotion. Get loud. A party sounded more in order to him right now. Maybe this lame village can be the stage of his party this time? Make it loud and exciting for once in the residents pathetic lives. No, he needed to focus. He was at least wanting to hear about this test that this stranger was wanting to give him.

Post by Diana Winchester 17th August 2019, 8:44 pm

Stiletto felt a sensation of mild alarm when The Chairman himself arrived to meet with the red-haired person. She felt like she had made a serious mistake in coming here without express authorization, the kind of mistake that could end careers. The Chairman had been very diplomatic in declaring her the chosen agent for this assessment, but she needed to bear in mind that she might only be allowed one mistake of this magnitude before the hammer came down next time. She would be fortunate if the worst consequence from overstepping the boundaries was a stern reprimand behind closed doors from The Chairman, who was a hands-on manager of his interests. It was too late to back out now, so Stiletto would press ahead and accept the consequences of her decision.

"Of course." Stiletto said to The Chairman, bowing slightly and being very careful to show deference to him in gratitude for his magnanimity in choosing her for this assessment. Once she had completed the statement, she turned to the fellow that had been dubbed "Music Man" and observed him closer. He seemed to be taken by The Chairman but did not seem to be nearly as enthused about Stiletto. Maybe Music Man hated blondes or loathed women in general... not that it really mattered to her. If the musician wanted to join the guild he would have to be open to working with female agents.

Facing Music Man, Stiletto spoke to him.

"I'm called Stiletto. Your test is for him to decide." Stiletto informed Music Man in an altered voice that was cheerful enough to match her altered appearance. While The Chairman had generously chosen her for this assessment, she was not authorized to set the terms of Music Man's test because she was not of the proper rank to do so. Only Mietitrice or another of the higher-ranking members had that privilege.

The disguise that the recruit has chosen was surprisingly flamboyant one, with striking red hair gelled upwards and painted cheeks. He kind of looked like a clown, and a familiar one at that. Was this clown famous? Artemis felt like he'd seen him somewhere before, perhaps in a magazine at some point. Not that it really mattered, a disguise was a disguise. As Artemis thanked him for doing so, he would find even his response was quirky. Under his mask, Artemis raised a brow as he went on to rhyme. A part of him was ready to yeet out of this moment just at the poem, but still, he had a job to do, as weird as he was, he still wanted to test him.

"Yes, well, in our line of work, there is rarely a dull moment, I can assure you." He replied, although it wasn't always fun, at least not for Artemis. Then again, he wasn't accustomed to killing yet, it was still uncomfortable for him. Perhaps it would be more enjoyable for something such as the Music Man. Artemis glanced at Stiletto as he introduced herself under her alias, "Yes, and I am known as the Chairman." He added, before reaching down into the small pouch at his hip. He unhooked it, reaching it, he would pull out a long silky red scarf. "Stiletto, would you mind putting this own for me, it doesn't matter where just somewhere reachable." He said handing the scarf to her, before looking back at the Music Man. "The test is simple, you will be required to retrieve the scarf from my agent here. Stiletto here will do her best to evade you; you may use magic, but avoid engaging in combat. I don't want to be explaining such a thing to these villagers, on that note make sure not to damage the area nor to harm any civilians. The point of the exercise is to test your restraint and quick thinking. Sometimes our work requires great precision, and we must carry them out with as little impact as possible. As though we were never there.." He said, the last part of his comment laced with a warning tone.  Artemis would turn and walk away, moving over to a building, he leaned back against it, crossing his arms over his chest. "You have three minutes to retrieve the scarf, the test will begin in thirty seconds. I suggest Stilletto, that you create some distance between yourself and him." He instructed, waiting a moment to watch their reaction to the instruction. He checked his iLac for the time, before looking up once more and uttering three commanding words. "You may begin."

The Music Man Comes To Play

The newly dubbed, for this guy, Music Man watched as he saw the blonde start to tuck her tail a bit between her legs. Or it seemed so when the other guy came over. He was kind of amused by this little notion. When he was told that the line of work rarely had a dull moment, the Music Man wasn’t so sure. He leans himself back on a ‘shelf’ and raised an eyebrow to the armored guy. He was a little upset that the ‘pretty’ lady herself wasn’t giving him the test. Honestly, this ring he was given made him question literally every little thing. How was he to know if people were who they were now?! They were probably faking it! But he couldn’t deny that he was honestly enjoying this ring himself now. He could use it to go into a concert hall or something and play his heart out to the crowd without being nearly mauled to death or whatever. He could still look dazzling.

The currently red haired clownish musician raised an eyebrow as this other guy had pulled out a scarf and asked the girl to put it on somewhere reachable. Were they going to play capture the flag. He then jumped a bit and clapped his hands once before he was looked at. He was going to say something, but the Chairman gave him a test. He squints at him a bit and put his hands on his hips. No combat? And no destroying the place?! Or the civilians?! Goodness. This wasn’t going to be as fun as he hoped. He’d just have to make the best of it. Restraint and quick thinking were the name of this game. And in such a short time to do this too? With a huff, he put his hands together and bowed to him. He was learning some etiquettes from Yuusai about Midi and was trying to implement them a bit. “Such a quick game. I hope to not make it lame.” He grins as he glances over towards Stiletto, waiting for her to start moving. Let the pray get her distance if she so chose to.

Regardless if she moved or not, Baird stayed where he was. He looked bored, till he was told to begin, then his lips barely mumbled something and a smirk came across his lips. His hand quickly shot out and a flute was suddenly was in his hand before he twirled it rather dramatically and put one end to his lips. As soon as he did a chilling tune came from the instrument at hand. His eyes closed delicately as he seemed at peace playing the thing. Those within the immediate area started to get sleepy at least. He played for barely a minute before he removed it to see what had happened to this Stiletto girl.

"Of course!" Stiletto said in her cheerful teenage girl voice as she put the scarf that The Chairman had given her around her neck. She liked the built-in voice changer so much that she did not know what she would do without it. Being able to change her voice at will made life so much easier for someone like her, who valued anonymity and being able to blend in with the crowd as she went about her work. Stiletto's objective now was to put some distance between her and the prospective new member and have him find her to take the scarf away.

Stiletto quickly jogged off to get lost in the crowd so that the new guy would have to work for his entry. With so many people around it would not be hard for the blonde to get lost in the crowd, especially when she could blend in at will by making herself "generic" by using her magic. She used the thirty-second headstart to get to a water fountain that featured a mermaid pouring the water from a clay jar on her shoulder.

Stiletto let the crowd mill about her and was looking for somewhere a little more out-of-the-way to go when she felt someone tug on her arm and start dragging her through the crowd to a side alley next to a crowded bakery named How The Cookie Crumbles. She could have easily beaten him down, but she did not want to anger The Chairman by drawing attention to herself after she had beaten down the offender. She would play along, then give him what for out of the public eye.

    -In the side alley-

Stiletto looked and found herself staring at a skinny blond teenage male dressed in a white tank top and blue jeans with black high-top tennis shoes. He was sizing up her chest and her backside and kept trying to sneak his hand onto her waist, but she kept pushing it away. She knew what he was after and it was not pleasant conversation.

"Hey lady, why don't you come home with me tonight? We can have some fun." He suggested to her. Stiletto had standards. This guy did not even begin to meet them.

"No thanks." Stiletto laconically refused. He did not like that answer and started to pour on the aggression. He slammed a hand onto the wall by the right side of her head and clenched his teeth.

"What, you're too good for me or somethin'?" He snapped, issuing the classic rhetorical challenge. Truth be told, she was. Any woman was too good for this creep. His hand slid down her back and settled onto her backside before Stiletto pulled away from him. He frowned and grabbed her right elbow just as a flute began to play in the distance.

The angry male began to get drowsy and so did Stiletto. She took advantage of his weakening grip to pull away and start walking out into the village square again. She staggered out of the side alley while ignoring his weak protests and walked away from the bakery.

    -In the village square-

Stiletto made good her escape and sat on an empty wooden bench behind the fountain. Her hide-and-seek mission was going poorly thanks to her drowsiness. She walked briskly to a coffee shop in the upper left corner of the town square and only got as far as browsing the white sandwich board menu before having to sit in an iron chair to try and recover. The Chairman was not going to be happy about this.

Post by Artemis Dagger 18th January 2020, 1:14 pm

Currently, golden eyes watched Stiletto keenly agreed to his request, he had offered her a small nod of appreciation upon her doing so. Stiletto was after all one of his more diligent agents, less troublesome than most, it was good to know he could rely on her for tasks such a this. Amused his gaze would follow her as she walked away, merging into the crowd and essentially 'vanishing' from view. His gaze then returned back to The Music Man, who had seemed keen on the game at first from his reaction, although the additional requirements seemed to quell some of that excitement.

Which was someone the point, skilled as he was, The recruit was known for his chaos and that was something that needed to be controlled if he was going to join the ranks of Hidden Blades. At least enough so that if the Support Team were sent in to clean up after him, then it wasn't too much trouble for them to cover any evidence he may have left. The Support team did a sweep of every job handled by the company, but that didn't mean his agents could be reckless. He needed to be able to control him if the job truly called for it, and if that was indeed possible, then the relationship Artemis could foresee would be quite fruitful. Especially with someone of his 'skillset' and prestigious ruthlessness in the criminal world.

He noticed the Music man pull out a tool from apparently nowhere, specifically a flute. It would then began to play a song. Soft, delicately and eeriely chilling. Artemis sense the magic spread through the air, washing over him, he felt the air of fatigue come over him. A tired smirk appearing on his lips. Clever start. He thought, before pulling Morte's magic from within, allowing the demonic energy to course through him, he would dip into his magical source and the sleepiness would fade from The Chairman. Allowing him to refocus on the little game ahead, unaffected by the spell that had been used.

The Music Man Comes To Play

The Music Man smirks as he watches Stiletto put the scarf on her neck. Easy enough to recognize where it was. Next, she was jogging off ahead of him before he pulled out his flute. He enjoyed playing on missions. They gave him the sense of freedom. A release. Calm. They helped him focus. When he was finished with his song, he noticed that Stiletto was gone, and he was alone with the Chairman. Lowering the instrument, the Music Man smirks. "I hope she was able to resist that." He muses as he casually walks towards the village. He then had a thought and lets out a sigh before he’s jogging himself in the direction Stiletto had gone. He had momentarily forgotten that he was timed to three minutes. Now all he had to do was find this damned girl.

He walked towards the center and put his hands on his hips at the display he had put up. The people were all asleep. He let his eyes gaze over the people feeling sluggish and making their way to sit down. Some were starting to even sit down on the ground itself. A few of the weaker people had fallen asleep completely. A soft chuckle was coming through his lips as he lightly skipped forward to explore the village for his target. “Where, oh! Where would I be, if I was a scarf on the run?” He hummed aloud. Time was ticking for him. The curiosity of this place that wanted to hire him was there. He felt it might be worthwhile for him to have something to do from time to time for jewel since Nightmare was no more. He had also been looking into somewhere else, but this was peaking his interest more at current.

The currently red headed guy nearly jogged right by the girl he was supposed to find, but he did a double take and quickly turned around to be able to crouch down in front of her. “Hello again my dear! You have something I need. Now, I have passed this test,  I fear.” He cheekily grins to her as he started to reach for the scarf. Would she be able to fight him from taking the scarf. He then snickers and moved to grab her arm and pulled her out of the seat. “Come with me! You are going to be my proof! I’ll pass this. Just you see!” He begun giggling as he dragged the tired girl along the streets happily with him. The Music Man was intending to bring the whole girl back with him to the Chairman. He turned back and pointed to her. “Now don’t you go fighting me now~ You’re still pretty much caught, my dear, shoe.” He giggles to himself as he found interest in her name ‘Stiletto’, referencing her as the shoe heel type.

His intention was to start dragging the girl through the village to the Chairman once again. He would be technically retrieving the scarf from her. The armored man never said exactly when he had to remove it from her, just that it needed to be retrieved from her. Clearly, to the Music Man, this meant he could drag the girl back to the starting spot, and then remove the scarf and still be within the rules so long as it was within the time limit. Of course, it had to be that way! Has it been three minutes yet? He wasn’t sure. He started tapping his fingers on his pants as he had a song pop into his mind, then looked over to Stiletto again. “Safe we shall be. Take this I shall do, Teehee!” He says as he reaches over to attempt to grab the scarf while walking with her.

The Chairman would watch the test unfold with quiet intrigue after The Music Man had used his flute to cast a spell on their area. There was clear air of fatigue over those who had been affected by it, certainly an ideal technique to manipulate situations without drawing unnecessary attention to yourself. The Music Man was already proving he had the skillset that went beyond chaotic killing, a reassuring assessment for Artemis all things considered.

He would look down at his watch, less than a minute to go. The Music Man didn't have long if he was going to pass their requirements, after all, Hidden Blades agents needed to be efficient. Time was often not a luxury that they were blessed with, at least not in their usual line of work. His now golden eyes scanned the area and as the seconds ticked by he almost thought that the man would fail when he spotted them in the distance. The recruit was dragging her in their direction. Well, he had the scarf...technically.

Artemis's who was worn a stoic expression found himself amused enough to allow himself a slight smirk. He certainly hadn't specified that he needed to separate the scarf from Diana, only to retrieve it, in retrieving her, he had fulfilled the request. It was out of the box thinking, but that wasn't a bad thing. If anything it eased Artemis's concerns further about the Music Man's recruitment. His watch beeped, indicating the three minutes were up, he stood up, approaching the pair. "Excellent work, Music Man. Your results are satisfactory if you're interested in a job you have one. The work requires skill and discretion however, the work is plentiful, as are the financial benefits as well as the other perks. If you wish to accept, go to Crocus, to the main building on the Bellevue Estate. When you get there, tell one of the receptionists 'Blanche sent me here to collect some files.'" He told him, before stepping forward, he would take the scarf, returning it to his pocket.

"I hope to see you again, Music Man." He said with a curt nod, following with a nod to Stiletto before turning on his heel. He would leave them, disappearing into the crowds and vanishing swiftly without a trace.

music and sound goes hand in hand,
They're loud and beautiful, just like me.
beware, beware, the music man likes to play

As the music man made his way towards the chairman, he perked an eyebrow up. He passed this little test. A grin started to form on his face as he set the shoe girl down on the ground. He did so gently, since he didn't want to hurt her even despite not liking her voice. He handed the silly scarf to the man. He takes a deep breath. More work… would the financial benefits that was waved in front of him be worth it? He hoped so. With a couple fingers to his forehead, he saluted him and grinned widely.

"You may take back those words on wishing you see me again." He teased the man a bit as he walked away. His eyes glanced towards the woman and he snickered. "I won't say no to a good time if you ask." He simply chuckled, momentarily forgetting that he was disguised as someone else. He himself decided to disappear into the crowd after a second thought, giggling as he did so.

    ~The Next Day - Crocus~

With a sigh, a long, green haired man went walking up to the door of this building he had been directed to. He wore a black suit jacket with a matching homburg hat upon his head. A blue dress shirt paired with a white polkadot on wine red tie was under his jacket, and a pair of black slacks and nice dress shoes was upon his feet. Some thin framed rounded rectangle glasses were perched on the bridge of his nose over his green eyes. He pulled the door open as he adjusted one of his sleeves and puffed his cheeks up. He was still wearing the one ring, getting rid of the little mark on his cheek from his previous guild and actually slightly adjusting his build to be a little thicker, same as making his face thinner. Perfect disguise to fool people! Right? Though, for good measure, he made one of his eyes red and added a streak of yellow to his hair too.

He walked up to the receptionists and took a deep breath. Cheesy line time. He rested an elbow on the counter and smirked to the receptionist, regardless of whom they were, and let his eyes intently look them over. “Hey there beautiful… Blanche sent me here to collect some files. Care to help me out with this?” His smirk was soft, intending to be alluring with his eyes.

The reception would, as she always did, offer Baird a polite smile. Her professionalism intact, she would reach under the desk, and pull out a silver coin, before handing it over to the male. The silver coin was slightly weighted and embedded with a dagger emblem with a rose wrapped about it. She would inform the green-haired stranger to head over to the elevator, inside of the elevator he would see a number panel, next to which would be an evident coin slot. The destination of the coin from which he was handed...

    -Ground Zero-

Meanwhile in the guildhall; Artemis, or in this case the Chairman, would be found seated at the Lounge bar. He was currently nursing a whiskey and cola, taking a break for the heaps of paperwork he had faced for the entire morning, not to mention the stressful meeting with the support director. He really needed to find a suitable replacement for that one soon, the question was, just who would be the one to fulfil such a role. The candidates flurried through his mind, he had someone in mind but he would have to wait and see how she developed first. It was frustrating, Artemis wasn't known for being a patient man, but in this line of work, it was just something he would have to endure.

He would notice the distance step of Blanche approach, her footsteps, much like her were light, barely noticeable. In fact, if it wasn't for his enhanced demonic hearing, he might not even have noticed that she was coming over to him. "What is it?" He asked as he heard her come close enough. "It seems the... Music Man has arrived and should be down momentarily." She informed him. Ah yes, the Music Man, the one whom he had tested successfully yesterday with the aid of Stiletto.

"Good, just send him straight over to me, I'll initiate him here." He told her, he would hear no response, but the soft tapping of her steps as they moved away from him. The plain haired brunette returning to her desk where she would wait for the green-haired recruit and prepared to direct him to the Chairman's location once he arrived at Ground Zero.

    -Ground Zero-

Stiletto, still in her alternate outfit, made her way back to Ground Zero after the scarf was successfully taken from her by the green-haired guy. She was still feeling stupid after having chosen such an obvious location to "hide" in. If it had not been for that guy trying to drag her deeper into the alley she could have gotten to a better hiding place before the sleep-inducing music hit.

    Shoulda. Coulda. Woulda.

Stiletto was not feeling particularly chipper at the moment because she had messed up just by appearing and she had not made a showing good enough to make The Chairman's mercy for her mistake seem justified. She would not get that mercy again, but he need not worry about her crashing another initiation. She was going to keep well away from them in the future. If she even had a future after this mediocre showing.

Stiletto was on her way to the break room when she saw The Chairman seated at the bar of the Lounge. She only looked at him a moment before continuing to move. She did not dare approach him, not after how badly she had messed up yesterday. She was lucky that he had not already assigned someone to shoot her in the back of the head and dump her body in a secluded area. Stiletto kept going and eventually reached the safety of the break room, where she could not see him.

    -Inside the break room-

Stiletto strode into the employee breakroom and grabbed a white styrofoam cup from the stack on the faux granite counter to her left. she then walked to the right counter, poured some coffee into the cup, and drank it without caring that it was both cold and a few hours old. She just wanted coffee. She just wanted to forget yesterday.

    Why was she so upset?

The blonde was now part of a guild where mistakes were not easily forgiven. She felt like yesterday she had burned through all the forgiveness that she was ever going to get from The Chairman, so if she messed up a second time she would not live long enough to regret it. Stiletto took a deep breath and poured out another cup of cold coffee, not caring about the taste because the cold coffee was something to drink to take her mind off of things.

Stiletto just needed to calm down. She would get through this. Yesterday was a dumb mistake, but she could still get through this. She had plenty of time in which to save face and show that The Chairmain hiring her was not a colossal mistake on his part.

Stiletto was not used to feeling intense emotions like this.

She had not felt this way in a very long time.

music and sound goes hand in hand,
They're loud and beautiful, just like me.

Baird pouted a little as his compliment wasn’t reciprocated, but shrugged his shoulders. He didn’t mind it too much and brought the coin to the elevator after about where he had to go. Going in, he inspected it and flipped the coin in his hands before he played with it on the coin slot. “Ploink.” He snorts to himself as he pushes the coin in with his thumb. He leans himself back against the wall of the elevator, allowing himself to look like his usual thin and slender self. The green haired man was still wearing the suit that he donned when he entered the place. He let his green eyes trail around the place while he hummed a tune to himself. He had to control himself more here. No killing at will. He hoped he could, but the pay was honestly really intriguing and being able to disguise himself with the nifty little ring. He lifted his hand up to inspect it, snorting a little just before the elevator landed on the floor he needed.

    Ground Zero.

When he made it down the long ride and the elevator doors opened, he looked around at the area. He squinted at all the computers and makes a bit of a face. He’d have to get himself up to date with this crap, wouldn’t he? Well… No time like now to update his magics, especially since some music was getting more electronic now. As he noticed the desk and the woman at it, he smirks as he makes his way over to her. “Hey there, Blanche… I’m-” “The chairman is waiting for you in the Lounge at the bar, Music man.” She pointed to the right of the elevator and Baird put a hand on his chest. “Ouch. Thank you…” He didn’t know if he was hurt or not for real from her words. He calmly walks into the lounge. While he’s played in a few bars in his travels, now he was here to be initiated in a guild? This was new.

He glanced around, noticing the little peppy chick from the day before. She was drinking coffee, something he never got into honestly. A snicker went on his lips before he noticed the bar. Maybe he should play later for now? He clapped his hands once before he makes his way over to the bar. “Can’t deny that this is a nice Lounge, nicer than the places I’ve played in before.” He snorts as he leans over the bar. What he would do to be able to play in a nice place like this one day without doing much besides raw talent! But he knew he couldn’t do that with his face… Not after the things he’s done.

It wasn't long after his instruction to Blanche did the Music Man arrive, by which point the Chairman finished his whiskey and opted for a water instead. Not point continuing with the consumption of alcohol right now, not unless he wanted to be sozzled during the recruitment process. Perhaps after this, he would wrap things up and take the afternoon off instead, do some thinking at home, polish off a bottle privately. It wasn't the ideal way to spend his evening but he really didn't have much of a choice. His once wild lifestyle of partying had been quelled significantly by the instigation of responsibility, his father, Lucarius seemed to have gotten exactly what he wanted - a diligent heir.

However, little did he know, his eldest son had know intentionally of ruling the traditional Dagger way. No, Artemis had his own plans for Hidden Blades, ways to renovate and build upon its structure and mould it into something more modern and functional. To move away from it's archaic and unmoving foundations and to build something even greater.

As the Music Man approached, Artemis would look up at him. His expression civil, as he mentioned how nice the lounge was. It was rather nice indeed, an ideal place to bring the recruits for initiation. Its style was almost a validation of the guild's money and its ability to pay it's members heartily. "Thank you for coming, Music Man, Welcome to Hidden Blades." He began, "Would you care for a drink?" He noticed that Stiletto was in the lounge, drinking coffee. She looked unsure of herself, although that may have been assuming of him to say, seeing as he didn't really know the girl on a personal level.

"As I explained yesterday, coming here certifies your position as a member of our faction. We are an underground company made up of specialised agents. The work available here can range anywhere between assassination, the gathering of intelligence or manipulation of events. We have clients who apply for work through our shadow companies, the clients themselves don't even know our true face. That's how important it is that we remain secret, so that we may work safely without our faces and names broadcasted to the world. If the world knew of us you see, they would likely hunt us like dogs." He realised that he had begun a tangent, and so pulled it back to address the Music Man's recruitment specifically. "Do you have any questions so far?"

Post by Diana Winchester 27th October 2020, 10:33 pm

Sitting in the corner and sipping from her cold cup of coffee, Stiletto was still trying to get over her less-than-stellar performance from yesterday. She saw the green-haired guy saunter in and talk to The Chairman, presumably about joining the guild and what would be expected of him once he put his name on the dotted line, so to speak. Stiletto was tempted to sit closer to the pair to watch over The Chairman, but she had already pressed her luck yesterday and did not want to press it a second time because The Chairman would be a lot less forgiving of another colossal mistake. Mindful of that, Stiletto chose to stay where she was and drink coffee.

She drained the styrofoam cup and decided that she wanted more coffee, but she did not want cold coffee. It was time to let the two mages talk in peace and go make some new coffee, coffee that did not taste like used motor oil. Stiletto disappeared into the break room and set about her self-imposed errand.

    -In the break room-

Stiletto found the coffeemaker on the counter and set down her cup, grabbing the coffee pot and carefully dumping the cold coffee into the sink. She then found a jar of coffee and set it to the left of the coffeemaker, then began preparing a new pot of coffee as generic lounge music played softly overhead. The blonde heard a piano tinkling softly as a guy trying to sound like a lounge singer sang about the "good old days" when he and his girlfriend were still together. She tuned out the rest and began to add the coffee grounds to the water.

Stiletto began to relax a little now that she was not within the direct line of sight of The Chairman. She was under no illusions that she was not being monitored on camera everywhere she went in Ground Zero. She was not bothered by cold and impersonal cameras nearly as much as she was bothered by The Chairman's eyes.

    Those eyes.

They bored into Stiletto's own eyes almost every time they met. They looked her over to determine her worth, what she had to offer the organization. It was only fair that he made sure that he hired the best, but there was something about his eyes that attracted and unnerved Stiletto.

She shoved that out of her mind and focused on making the coffee, which was nearly complete. A minute or two more and after cooling down a little it would be safe to drink. For her, at least. Those who disliked strong coffee would be advised to get their caffeine fix elsewhere because the pot of coffee was made to Stiletto's liking.

Once the freshly made coffee had cooled down Stiletto poured some into her styrofoam cup and took a sip. This batch was much more to her liking, so much so that she smiled a little for the first time in a day. Maybe coffee was all she needed to turn her mood around. She drained the first cup and immediately poured another, then walked out of the break room and back to the bar.

    -Back in the lounge-

Stiletto took her seat again and watched The Chairman and the green-haired man talk while she sipped the freshly made coffee. Unless she was specifically invited to join them she would keep her distance. The two of them did not need her taking up space during their important conversation.

A Musicians Recruitment Empty Re: A Musicians Recruitment

music and sound goes hand in hand,
They're loud and beautiful, just like me.
beware, beware, the music man likes to play

As he was offered a drink, Baird looked to the Chairman for a moment, and shrug his shoulders. “Honestly don’t drink much, but uhh… maybe a piña colada?” he listened as he recapped about the company, nodding slowly. Could he have done something better for money? Sure. Chaos was just a bit more fun. And he could easily lay low here to gather up his fanbase. The secrecy of Hidden Blades seemed more and more appealing, he now only had the issue of his wife to deal with. Hopefully she can be alright with him not telling her his work and what it was about. Or he could do something just as dangerous and join a second guild as a cover. Yuiisai wouldn't mind. He snorted a little at the end though. He glanced towards the chairman, and raised an eyebrow.

"Just one. Why did you seek me out of all people?" He didn't mind that he was actually sought after. In fact, he was excited for it. But he wanted to know how he came to know of him? Did he see one of his 'shows' before? He did kill a Magic Council member before while in Nightmare… and murdered a retired Rune Knight with his wife once upon a time… maybe his name was bigger than he thought it was! He then paused. With a teasing tone, he leaned slightly towards the Chairman. "Maybe I do have two questions. Would I get to serenade the lovely people of this fine establishment with my music from time to time here? Provide actual music to the place?" He was grinning cheekily as he glanced over the rest of the lounge. Blondie from yesterday was seeming in a good mood as she drank. She was good, in his opinion, so long as she didn't speak.

Artemis would nod at his request for a cocktail, looking over at the bar, and waving over a bartender. Repeating the Music Man's order before returning his attention back to the recruit. Following which he swiftly begin his usual spiel, making sure to cover what he needed to which initiated someone. It was a guild with a lot of process, and understandably that meant a lot of information to cover. But he knew that he only needed to cover the most important parts, Blanche would cover the rest. There was no training process here, you were told once and then you were thrown in the deep end. A place that only the best could survive didn't have time to waste, their were support systems that covered any 'incidents' that occurred with those who couldn't keep up.

His question was to be expected, and Artemis was more than prepared to answer it. "It's a ruthless business ours, and for it we need ruthless people. We have agents were are experts in gathering information, and in doing so they are diligent in seeking individuals who fill the criteria of an agent. The ability to get things done without hesitation. Our research shows that you are, a little more chaotically charged than our usual members. But you're talents are undisputable. We know that with your skills, we'd be able to accomplish great things together." Artemis finished at this point, the Pina colada swiftly slid across the bar toward them. An extravagant crystal glass, filled to the top with an sunshine yellow mixture. The top of the cocktail topped with a sliver of pineapple and a golden metal straw.  Upon hearing the Music Mans follow up question, Artemis chuckled.

"I see no issue with that, feel free to perform here in the lounge. Or perhaps even the training grounds! As long as the instruments you use are safe." He told him pointedly, their research had indicated that the Music Man's tools of music were both talented and deadly. The last thing they needed were any guildmates dropping dead over their evening pint.

Stiletto was drinking her new cup of coffee and glancing at the meeting every now and then. The new guy had asked why he was selected to join the guild. That was a perfectly reasonable question and one the blonde had never thought to ask before she joined up. What was not reasonable was the green-haired guy leaning uncomfortably close to The Chairman. When she saw that Stiletto quickly set aside her cup of coffee and stood up before taking a few steps towards the pair.

Her first response would have been to produce a weapon and aim at the offender, but there were a few problems with that approach to problem-solving.

First, the green-haired man was dangerously close to The Chairman and the consequences of a missed shot would be catastrophic. Second, any moves towards The Chairman while she had a weapon out could be construed as an attempt on his life. Third, since he had not given her permission to bring out a weapon, Stiletto would have to be careful in how she reacted to the situation.

Stiletto quickly nixed an armed response and instead the blonde stopped about eight steps away from them and observed how The Chairman reacted to the green-haired man leaning in towards him. When she saw that he had reacted calmly, the blonde turned around and slowly walked away. As she walked away she heard The Chairman gave the green-haired man permission to play his instruments in the lounge or the training grounds as long as the instruments he used produced music that was safe for listeners.

Since there was no danger she calmly returned to her seat and sat down to finish her cup of coffee, which took all of ten seconds to do. She quickly decided she wanted another cup of coffee, so she casually walked over to the coffeemaker in the lounge, poured out another cup, and risked a glance or two at The Chairman. The blonde was probably risking her life by doing so, but she felt like her life was forfeit the moment she had signed the dotted line on the contract with the guild, so she might as well get something out of it beyond just a paycheck.

The Chairman was certainly easy on the eyes. He was a muscular and devilishly attractive fellow who was somewhat taller than Stiletto herself... not that that was a problem for her. Were she more of a believer in romance she would want him to sweep her off her feet, but then she remembered that workplace romances were typically not a good idea, especially in this line of work.

Despite that The Chairman was very attractive. Almost inhumanly so.

Stiletto's green eyes lingered just a bit too long on him and she caught herself staring. Stiletto blushed lightly and quickly looked down at her cup of coffee while walking back to her chair, unwilling to make eye contact with him again. She sat back down in her chair and began to drink some of her coffee while hoping that The Chairman would not get too upset with her.

Baird listened to the response to his question, and grinned rather brightly at the fact that they knew he was ‘chaotically charged’, honestly taking quite the pride in that response. “I hope whomever did their research on me enjoyed what they saw, and saw some of my shows too.” He was smug as he said this, enjoying their little talk. He really wanted to know if he had more fans or not from this ‘research’. He would be hurt if he was told no though, but he would just have to play more extravagant music to wow them he supposed. He glanced back a bit and saw the shoe girl standing up suddenly. He smirked a little and raised an eyebrow. That was curious to him. He inched a little away from the Chairman, testing her reaction.

As he was granted permission to perform in the lounge, or in the training ground, his head perked up a bit. “My heavens!” He put a hand to his chest rather dramatically as he finally pulled back away from him, but he was grinning in a rather cheesy manner. “I’m hurt. My instruments are always safe, dear Chairman. They don’t harm unless I have the intentions to do so, unless you mean peoples ears ‘bleeding from trash music’, then that I can’t help.” He rolls his eyes while shrugging his shoulders nonchalantly. He disliked people who, in his opinion, went over the top with music that they didn’t like and how they described their reactions to hearing it.

The green haired musician began sipping on his piña colada happily as he looked about. He then put his drink down and leaned on the counter, body facing the man as he did so. “So… is that it? Do that little doohickey test thing, talk here, and now I’m in?” He raised an eyebrow. “Or do I get a little more fun before I’m in?” He grins devilishly as he leaned forward towards him once again, maybe getting a little close to his personal bubble, but he just had to tease him. “You’re rather attractive. Anyone ever told you that?” Was that random? Probably, but he didn’t care. What his wife didn’t know wouldn’t hurt.

Post by Artemis Dagger 30th December 2020, 12:15 am

"Of course, we found your work quite impressive," He commented casually, the things that had seen the Music Man hadn't been pleasant. But there was no denying what he was capable of, and hiring him, if it was handled right was surely a benefit to the guild. The only issue would be his flair for chaos, but he was sure that could avoid the jobs that required more subtlety, and make sure that a support team receive a little more funding to ensure that they would be able to cover for him if it needed. Hopefully, it would come to that. Still, there was no point making his concerns known until they actually happened, encouraging his capability would hopefully be enough to finalize this matter and set them on a positive path.

Artemis considered his question, there wasn't really much else to do. One of the bartenders approached, handing Artemis the guilds stamper and the necessary paperwork. "Based on our own research, and the fact you passed our screening process, you were already guaranteed a spot, all we needed was for you to come here and confirm you're interest. At this point, it's just getting stamped and signing some paperwork. You're welcome to explore the building or try out our training grounds. I can get someone to give you a tour," He slid the papers across to him along with a pen, it was all standard legal stuff: non-disclosure agreement, liability disclaimer, health insurance provided by the guild, and terms fo employment. As Baird complimented his looks, Artemis looked on unfazed, more than used to this from Esper. It wasn't exactly flattery he could take to heart, considering that this face didn't belong to him, but the demon he so abhorred.

"Is that so." He answered bluntly, "So where would you like your stamp? Note, this will be visible only to guild members," He asked, holding the stamper up, ready to finish up this recruitment and get back to other tasks.

A Musicians Recruitment Empty Re: A Musicians Recruitment

Post by Diana Winchester 1st January 2021, 12:04 am

Stiletto sat in her area sipping coffee and watching The Chairman and the new recruit conduct their business. Since the green-haired new recruit was no threat to The Chairman, Stiletto stood down and sipped her coffee while watching the business begin to wind down. She watched The Chairman slide some papers to the new guy along with a pen and heard the former talk, but she did not really pay much attention to what was going on because her mind was elsewhere. What was going on at the bar was also none of her business.

She just wanted this day to be over with.

Today had not been the best of days for her and she really wanted to move on to what she hoped was a better day. Stiletto raised the coffee cup to her lips when she realized that it was empty. It was time to get a refill. For some reason she could not get enough coffee right now, but maybe it was because of her need to forget her mediocre showing from earlier.

Stiletto stood up with her empty mug and calmly walked over to the coffeemaker while stealing the occasional glance at The Chairman, making sure not to stare this time. The blonde refilled her mug for what she wanted to be the last time, walked by The Chairman and the new recruit while looking straight ahead, and sitting back down in her place. Just a few minutes more and this would be over.

Stiletto could move on and put today behind her. She could wake up tomorrow and prove to The Chairman that hiring her was not a big mistake on his part. She would just need to calm down, focus, and try not to make any more big mistakes like she had done earlier because the next time she made one might result in her getting a bullet to the back of her head... if she was lucky. Not wanting to dwell on that, Stiletto took another sip of coffee to calm her nerves, letting the strong beverage wash away the anxiety concealed behind a mask of politeness and courtesy.

Stiletto took another sip of coffee as she stole a glance at the business happening at the bar. Her curiosity about the newcomer started to take over. While she would never ask him to his face, the blonde wondered who the green-haired fellow was, where he had come from, and what led him here. Stiletto would probably never find out, but she did not care too much. She took another sip of coffee and looked at the contents of the mug.

This coffee was good. She would have to get another refill soon.

The musician was a little disappointed that the blonde didn’t try to do anything while he was there, but he simply shrugged his shoulders to himself. He was already feeling himself as he was being told his work was impressive and was handed papers. He glanced over the stuff as he made a face. “Paperwork. I’m glad I don’t have to do much of it.” He snickers before he started to glance through the pile of papers. The others' response to his compliment made Baird pout to the other, but he shrugged his shoulders once again to be higher than before. “Under my eye.” He turns his head to give the other his left eye better and waited for that stamp to be placed upon his cheek.

After the stamp was there, he went through the papers again and signed all that he needed to, making sure one of them was on top that showed his signature well. His signature was elegant as he passed the papers back to the other male. “A tour would be nice, but I should do that later.” He groans as he thinks of Yuiisai. She’d probably start getting onto him for staying out too late. “I’ll see you around, Chairman~! I hope you can enjoy my music and maybe you can hire me for entertainment outside of work as well~!” He stuck his tongue out as he gave a quick salute with a wink to the Chairman and quickly downed the rest of the piña colada he had before he turned himself around and started to leave.
