Snow Bunny Mayhem Empty Snow Bunny Mayhem

Post by Teresa Sinclair 7th November 2020, 5:45 am

It was only November, but with it had come the first serious minus temperatures of the year. Even at the guild HQ there had been nothing but snowfall for the last seventy two hours. In a way not all that weird for this time of the year, however the flock of snow bunnies that had come with it was a bit silly. The entire guild had been filled with them and there had been poop everywhere, despite guild members constantly sweeping it up. Not to mention the fact that all the bunnies look the same, they all had the same crooked tooth. A few would be okay, but 108 bunnies with the same defect? That was obviously foul play.

Since Teresa absolutely hated the cold and lady luck hated her even more, she had drawn the short straw and selected to go out and look for the cause.

On the mountain there was somewhat of snowfall going on, so the silver eyed witch had summoned up her shield. It was similar to the ring Kotomi had used as that it kept her protected from the elements. However using the shield drained her own magical power and for some reason always made her feel colder. Perhaps it was the soot around her. Who knew. However instead of her normal silver body suit, she was wearing he thickest, fluffiest parka suit and -ironically- white boots made of snow bunny fur. With every step she sunk deeper into the layers of snow.

The cigarette was about half way through, the white smoke mixing nicely with the white vapor of her breath, when she suddenly found the trail. It was like a small river had been carved through the snow, but upon closer inspection it became clear it was simply a trail made by thousands of small bunny feet.Just my bloody luck! She grumbled, sighing deeply.

There had been thirty of them, searching on the mountain. All a different grit and she was almost at the edge of hers. Just a few hundred meters more and she could honestly return to the HQ and claim she had been unlucky.

Instead she really had been unlucky and found the trail she had been looking for. Lady luck really hated her it seemed. Letting her find the trail on hundred of kilometers of mountain… it was just mean.

As lazy as the silver eyed witch was however, she was not a liar and always tried to full-fill her obligations. Lazily she flicked the cigarette away, cracked her neck and drew her sword as she began to follow the trail in the snow. Luckily it was easy to follow and the further she came, the bigger it became, as side trails joined the main trail. A bit like a reserved river. It indicated that slowly they were converging upon the source of which the bunnies spilled. On the way she came across hundreds of bunnies, even some gigantic ones. However it seemed that as long as she did not provoke the creatures, they would not attack either.

So slowly, foot by foot, Teresa moved further until she got to the entrance to some giant lair. As she feared the creatures got more aggressive there, but since she was alone for a change she could go all out, without fearing the consequences.

Five minutes later she had turned the pristine snow white area around the cave into a duplicate of hell: drenched red and littered with all kinds of mangled and carved up bunny corpses. “Tsck such a shame, but someone had to do it.” She said as shrugged, removed a few bunny entrails from her hair and reached for a new cigarette as she entered the cave.

The cave was rather large and she had to fight through it, the bunnies defending every inch of their home with their blood. In the end Teresa had to resort to using the big guns, so relentless they were and so numerous. It was like trying to fight a tidal wave with one hand tight behind your back. By the time she reached the heart of the lair she was covered in small wounds, her parka shredded to bit and a colored deep red, just like her previously white boots. She was breathing extremely rapidly and a stream of sweat was being pushed through all her pores, mixed with the blood and formed red rivers running down her chest and arms.

“H-huh…” She said as she finally reached the device that looked like a cheap copying device. Everytime it moved and buzzed though a new bunny would come flying out at the far end. It was obviously cloning, but she did not see anyone operating the machine.

With a sigh she gathered her remaining magic, colored her sword black and released a moonfang slash, ripping the machine to threads in a single blow. “U-ugh… I am getting to old for this shit.” She sighed tiredly and unhappy as she fell backwards on her ass, completely exhausted, the claymore falling next to her with a loud clanging noise. “Well I guess I should just wait here and rest a bit. Maybe the owner of this machine will show up, but if not, at the very least I stopped the flood of bunnies.” She said as she reached for her magical flask, thought of a night schnapps and took a big sip.
