The disappointment the Dagger family feels has put a lot of pressure on Percy to find a way to acquire magic the way his brother did, but he’s had no such luck. The only way he can become strong and make them proud is by finding ways around his shameful disability. At first, he poured himself into his studies in efforts to become a scholar instead, but hasn’t had much luck. It isn’t that he is dumb, he just doesn’t have the passion and acedemic capacity that a sucessful scholar should have. It seems every direction he tries to go has a brick wall at the end, leaving him confused and feeling pointless. The only thing he’s had moderate success with and finds comfort in is technology, which is fortunate given the Dagger’s interests in it. They have plenty of funds to fund a technological weapons facility, which Percy has integrated into. While it’s a burgeoning aspect in most parts of Earthland, he is striving to integrate it into his life as much as he can to fill the deep holes left by his magicless curse. Because of this, he’s a bit of a nerd and bookworm, obsessed with Bosco and longing to travel there to delve into their secrets. This is not to say he’s given up on finding his magic, though. Percy simply cannot accept that his siblings have it and he doesn’t. Technology is simply there as a placeholder until he can figure out how to awaken his power he is convinced is laying dormant somewhere inside.

Percy has a classic inferiority complex, and thus is a little soft, something he strives to shake off. He’s sensitive and emotional in a way that can get embarrassing, so he tries to avoid situations that might bring those traits out in himself.
