    Adalinda

    The Iron Dragon Slayer

The dragon slayer takes a deep breath as she put her hands in front of her. She needed to train herself. Physically. The stronger she was, the better she could handle her change to a dragon. Opening her eyes, she glares ahead of herself and darts into the woods of Tolgalen. Like her mentor before her, she was going to train on the wild beasts within the woods before her. A snort escaped from her nose as she pumps her legs harder. Tamaria wasn’t with her, but Veles was. He always was. He was watching her world through her eyes. Lately, the dragon had gotten bored of her, and was keeping silent. Ada appreciated that. She could think in peace. ‘You wish, child. I’m always here.’ Of course he had to ruin her bliss. ‘Just focus on running… you just might be on to something with this training of yours.’ Noise from the peanut gallery. Just focus. Focus on the forest. Focus on… oh! That looks like a nice hunt.

Up ahead of Adalinda was a wyvern. A smirk was on her lips as she thought of when she first joined the company, now Cirven had her fighting one after she had fought Johann… A lot had changed since she joined. Many new faces. Cirven leaving, Johann leaving. She would have to go off and see him one day with his new guild. She would… just have to figure out where he was. Shaking her head she quickly skirted to start climbing a tree to jump on the wyverns back and fight it. Pain made one stronger. She started to practically be a monkey as she jumped from tree to tree up towards where the wyvern was going. She heard a pair of wings behind her. She wanted to assume that they were only a random big birds wings, but she recognized the sound of those wings anywhere. Tamaria. The cat was supposed to be off doing paperwork while she trained. “Ada!” The cat yells as she swoops down below. Ada was hanging on a tree branch with her feet planted on the tree, glaring towards the cat. Her chest was bound by tape, and she wore her white pants and black boots out here in the forest.

“What? I was in the middle of training. Haven’t done it since Cirven up and disappeared.” She says to the purple cat while she hung there. Tammy takes a deep breath and shakes her head. “Yeah? Well lets go train on a job then. There’s been a report of someone terrorizing a camp near Clover Town. Apparently it’s bad as out of a group of eight teenagers who had gone there, only two returned alive. Word is that the camp is haunted by an infamous serial killer. The guy had killed the entire roster of camp counselors one evening before he just poofed.” Ada looked to the cat, then over to where the wyvern had been, and saw that it had scurried off down the forest. Hanging her head, the iron dragon slayer takes a deep breath and nods. “Alrighty. Lets get going. Go tell Jaeger about the job, and lets meet at the docks to get to Fiore. I’m flying. Much faster than a boat.” She snorts as she jumps down from the tree and starts running towards her home. She needed to change. No way could she do work in her training clothes. Even she had her moments where she knew what was wrong in public.

By the time the black haired Vice President of West Fiore Trading Company had made it to the dock, she was dressed in her usual white tank top and white pants with her white jacket unbuttoned over her tank top. She had her horned flask attached to her hip, and Tammy was sitting on her shoulders in her matching outfit and her sword hanging off of her hip. She hoped Jaeger was here and ready to go. Now she had to be sneaky like she once had to be with the swollenman with Yona. “So what are we doing again?” “Searching for clues about the camp, and stopping the activity that this Kayson Warheez is apparently doing. Or stop the people or person claiming to be him. Nothing not up your alley at least.” The exceed snorts. Veles seemed to enjoy that comment too about his host, humming in Adalinda’s mind as they waited to set their eyes on their mentee. One day the dragon would have to take over and train the child and show him the ropes.

No. No no no no nononononono. Not the pain train again! Word was sent to a young and genetically new mage of the West Fiore Trading Company. A message sent by a demonic cat of purple, it flew through the air like nothing could stop her. Unfortunately for the mage, she was delivering a missive of doom, a note of no good, a memo of more headache. This mage, this alien Jaeger, and his mentor have gotten a new job. Jaeger wasn’t all too happy, he would rather sun bathe while wearing his much earned One Piece. It was a lovely white sling swimsuit, modified to have a bit more covering in the butt region. Can’t give the onlookers the satisfaction of seeing it all, gotta make them work for it, right? Across the right side of the fabric was a printed WFTC logo, showing his company pride as he relaxed. In the front was a bulge, medium in size really from what one could expect. It wasn’t the largest, but it wasn’t anything to scoff at.

Once the job was disclosed to the rather fetching mage, the exceed bolted off for the port. Now Jaeger was on the other side of the island and on the beach. He wasn’t really wanting to do this, or get suited up, especially not to get suited up. Then it hit him, like a baseball slamming into a helmet. Why doesn’t he just wear his bathing suit? It represents a fun side of the company and honestly, the currently blonde mage looks amazing in it. So with a sigh, the laid back fella sunk himself into the ground, merging with the planet once more, and set off towards the dock. The dirt, the soil, it felt a little different today, almost… freeing in a way. Just the way it felts as the mage shifted through, it was great.

After a few minutes, the mage popped up at the docks, keeping his feet in the stone and rock beneath him. Jaeger was getting some pretty weird looks, but he chose to believe it was because all the random dock works just found him so attractive while in this swimsuit. He moved around, shuffling through the work zone to find his mentoral meat suit for a job they were signed up for.She was more along the docks edge, more so than where he popped up anyway. He could tell by the flying purple demon cat that swarmed the area like a vulture!

“Okay, I’m here. Why must you interrupt my beach day? It was so nice getting some sweet tan lines!”

    Adalinda

    The Iron Dragon Slayer

The dragon slayer was still grumbling to herself about not being able to do her training in the forest while she was at the docks waiting on her mentee. Tamaria takes a deep breath and shook her head. Of course she didn’t care. There would be plenty of times to train again for the slayer that was there. Right now they had to wait. “Ada, we should be careful of Jaeger.” “Why?” "He didn’t seem too happy after I told him about our mission we’re going on. He was chilling on the beach earlier when I saw him… Actually, I don’t think he’s too fond of the idea that you took him on as a mentee.” Adalinda snorts to her cats speculations.

Whether he liked it or not anymore, he was her mentee, and he had to learn the ins and outs of the West Fiore Trading Company from her. He had been there a while, and it apparently rested upon her shoulders to break him in to the guild stuff. Hopefully he could learn from her. If not, Tammy could teach him better than Ada could, and they could just spar to get stronger with one another. Though his magic wasn’t anything Adalinda would write home about. It was rather a bit boring. Being plants and all. She had her eyes closed as she stood there. So far the dock wasn’t too bad, but that was because she wasn’t on a boat and planted firmly on the ground. Like hell would she get on a boat, not unless she was drunk.

Then she smelt him, her mentee. He smelt a bit different though. Like a tint of iron? She kept her eyes closed as she stood there, waiting to hear him approach, but she heard his voice first. She takes a deep breath as she hangs her head for a moment. Of course he would complain. Tammy was the first to look to Jaeger and let up a shriek as she fell back off of Ada’s shoulders and tried to hide from him. Adalina opened her eyes and looked towards her mentee, but the first thing she noticed was the one piece he was wearing and her first instinct was to let out a shout as well and instantly shot out one of her iron clubs, kind of right between his legs. “Jaeger! You are absolutely not in uniform! That is not what we wear when we go out on jobs for the company!” She instantly covered her eyes from the horrendous sight she saw before her. “I don’t give a crap if I was ruining your beach day, Tamaria ruined my training day! Now go back and get changed in a proper uniform!” She had her eyes covered with one hand while her other arm was up in between the two of them.

Adalinda needed a drink. Not after this. Right now. Ruvel could scold her later. She quickly grabbed her horned flask and took a huge swing of it. Her breath would have some heavy alcohol on it. She didn’t care. Jaeger was going to make her drink more than she already did with his little stunt already.

Clearly fashion wasn’t a strong sense for the mentor. As soon as he appeared, she just went ballistic!! A completely horrible reaction devoid of any taste. Even the devil cat went screaming and hiding from the view, even though it was a particularly great one. At least some of the other employees around  the dock appreciate it enough to laugh about the situation. It was mostly the men though, about 80% of the women on the dock had a similar reaction as Adalinda, tho0ugh it was more their loss than anything. However, it would very quickly take a turn for the better.

As the mentor swung a rather large and sturdy Iron club towards the form baby makers, the damnedest thing happened. With his new magic, Jaeger gained a new body of sorts, an elemental body. His body could change its properties to various metals and materials that his slayer lacrima could control or just have a normal meaty body. At this particular time, it was a metal body, more specifically, it was made of mercury under the fleshy skin suit. And as the club started to connect or got close enough too, a  somewhat natural reaction for him happened. His mentally shifted to that of not understanding the words or situation.

The best part though, as the club neared, a thick tendril of a tapered noodle shot out from the edge of the sling suit. It wrapped itself around the club, halting the impact to the nardal region of space. The tentacle itself was very shiny and liquid-ish in nature, it was almost solidified mercury and ran about arms length around the club. The sling suit shifted to allow for this appendage to worm its way out, but still covered all the fleshy human bits. The men that laughed before now stood staring like “what the f*ck” at the sight. The other women? One fainted! Another shrieked! Though Jaeger still doesn’t really understand why.

After a few moments, the man snapped back into the blonde body and looked at what was happening. The whole thing was now just awkward.

“Uh.. this is uh… awkward… So uh… how’s your day been? I think I'll uh…. Go back and change.”

The tentacle retracted back into the body. Jaeger just played it off and submitted to her request after giving Adalinda enough time to see what happened. He couldn’t just let it go off in secret! Minutes later, Jaeger returned fully suited up in his white company attire. His blonde haired flowed with a swish as the man quickly popped out of the ground once again.

“So uh… That wasn’t what you think it was. I didn’t uh… mean for it to just show itself like that. Listen, I'm not exactly human anymore. Just go with it.

    … it might happen again.”

The mage explained and turned towards the sea, ready to leave this island behind and head off for  the mainland of Fiore.

    “Meet you there?”

And with that, the blonde weirdo was merged once again and set off for Clover Town.

    Adalinda

    The Iron Dragon Slayer

As Jaeger ‘caught’ Adalinda’s Iron club, she was stunned for a moment. Her face seemed to pale for a moment while she was trying to process what was touching her and the iron… A tentacle… A freaking tentacle came out from her mentees sling suit. She pursed her lips as she closed her eyes before her eyes looked back up at her mentees face. They seemed to blaze bloody murder at him as she released the metal club from her grasp. She felt utterly gross. As he said he would go back and change, Adalinda quickly nodded. “You fucking better…” She growled rather lowly under her breath. Of all the people. She just had to have this guy as her mentee?! How did she get stuck with him again?! She wanted out. No more! Not with this nut!

She closed her eyes and rubbed her hands on her face, letting out a rather loud and exasperated groan just as Jaeger returned to her. The people who were close could sense her anger and quickly scurried back to work, or just away from her general vicinity. Adalinda’s ice blue eyes glared at Jaeger from the corner of her eye as he began speaking to her again. She was glaring daggers at him. ‘It might happen again?!’ She repeated back to him with a growl. She had now turned and was getting close to him. “Make sure. That doesn’t happen. While I don’t care what you are. And I sensed that metallic substance… I. Don’t. Want. To. feel. That. Again. Do you understand? That is gross? And that sling suit of yours? Wear that on private time, not work, even if you’re called on your private time to work. Ruvel would have your head if he knew of that. Be lucky I’m nice.” She gave a simple nod to her mentee about meeting him in Clover Town, and she shakes her head.

Great. Just great. She was pissed. This wasn’t going to be any fun anymore. She started to walk to where the grass was for a moment, then quickly turned around and ran right for the water. Before her shoes could touch the end of the dock where the water was, Adalinda had shifted herself into a metallic dragon and was flying high in the air, barely missing a few ships. She should really get a dock for herself so that won’t happen. She flew from Tolgalen to Fiore, with Tammy on her back. Once in Fiore, the iron dragon slayer landed on the outskirts of Clover Town and casually walked into the town. The flight had calmed her down immensely. “Lets go find the guards. They’re the ones who officially reported it to us about their missing teens.” The slayer starts to make her way down the road. “We should find Jaeger and tell him where we’re going…” The exceed says on her slayers back. With a sigh, Ada nods. She looks to the exceed, who takes a deep breath herself, and nodded before she popped her wings out and begun flying to see where the brilliant mentee of her slayer was.

As soon as Tamaria found Jaeger, she flew down to him. “Hey, Ada is going to the barracks to talk to the guards since they were the ones who officially put up that job. She wants you to meet her there.” She only looked at his face. Honestly not even wanting to think of seeing what else there could be that this guy was doing. She didn’t care. Not one bit. She just wanted to do this job immediately. After she told the other West Fiore Trading Company member, she flew off in the direction of the barracks towards Adalinda. Ada was waiting outside the door for Jaeger and Tammy to return. She had her arms crossed over her chest, and her pin fixed right for anyone to see it as they looked at her. A guard had come up to her when Tammy saw her slayer, and she was having a serious conversation with him. The drunkard was focused.

“The kids say that they went as a group to visit the camp, on a dare mind you, and two of the eight of them were the only ones to come back. The two who came back, say a masked man attacked them and killed their friends. They were pinning it on the legend around Azure Lake and the serial killer that killed all of the camp counselors before he disappeared.” The guard explained to her. Adalinda was glaring confused at the man before she shook her head and nodded. “Can you search for anything about what happened there? None of the other guards want to go near there with the legend and all.” He explains to her. With a sigh, Ada waved her hand a bit at him. She’s dealt with the swollen man before. Some mysterious serial killer wasn’t going to stop her. Now the only issue would be Tammy, and maybe Jaeger depending on how they are with this stuff. Tammy would probably be scared no doubt, but she surprised the dragon slayer from time to time. Ada stood there as she waited, looking up at Tammy.

So heartless. So mean. Ho0w dare the adult woman deny Jaeger the use of tentacles, how inhumane, filthy dragon. She roars her way through the sky while oppressing the kind of another world entirely! How very dare this person, this means war! Of course not literally, the scaled meat suit was still a stronger mage than he was. Jaegers revenge shall have to wait for another time and another place. For now, the alien will have to play along… no tentacles… until the time is right. His face went to that of someone being in mischievous thought as the mage sunk into the ground just outside the port docks.

After quite a few hours of ground transport, such is his normal way of moving through the world, the mage arrived in Clover town. His first initial head poke saw to it that he had taken a wrong turn at Albuquerque. It took another hour after that to reach Clover Town, Fiore. Once there, it seemed like it always was, a little bit of trade, some public outings, and a devil cat flying towards him. Wait, that last bit wasn’t normal. The purple fuzzball flew up to the young mage and proclaimed that the mentor was already at the barracks and wanted him there. It was probably a trap she could spring him, filthy tricksy meat suit!

    “Fine”

He replied before the thing scurried back to its master, neither of them appreciated the Jaeger, saw him as just a burden! No explosions Jaeger, no tentacles Jaeger, Jaeger you can’t just kill them! He can do as he pleases! The mages is gonna tentacle it up, cause explosions everywhere and kill who he likes! She’ll see… they’ll all see! The inner monologue of Jaeger went something like that along with evil laughter and lightning crackles. He took his sweet time shuffling through the streets and making his way to the barracks within the town. Along the way, he had stopped somewhere and gotten himself a juice box to drink. There she was, waiting for her mentee outside the building. He stood there just sipping it for a moment before looking straight at her face.

    “Sup?”

They went into the soldier building to talk to the quest giver. It was a guard, likely of some importance to the area given he has authorized this job. This man was a little rotund, a belly bulging out slightly as his uniform moves around his body to fit. He has blonde, curly bangs sprawling out from under his helmet as well. Just looking him over… maybe he wasn’t some high ranking officer but more of a middleman guard for the ranking personnel. Either way, this man went over the job details and explained the situation. Apparently grown men were too scared of some myth or legend to go do their jobs! Terrible.

“Yeah, we can take this on. It shouldn’t be such a bad job. Go out, find the boogie man and just unmask some killer, get a Jaeger Snack, and then report on our findings. Sound good?”

    Adalinda

    The Iron Dragon Slayer

Tammy had given Jaeger a smile as he had agreed to meet Adalinda over by the barracks before she had gone to fly over to her dragon slayer. Ada had been keeping her ears out for her mentee, listening for him, and letting her nose catch his scent. She sensed him before he had come up to her. Of course she let her eyes glance over to him, raising an eyebrow as she did so. “Nothin’ much, just chilling here.” She snorts before she uncrossed her arm and went in with Jaeger. After the guard explained the job to her and Jaeger, she glanced to her mentee, and snorted. “Mr Krüger, you shouldn’t assume all things are easy.” Tamaria said as she nodded her head. Ada had just snorted and put her hands behind her head, lacing her fingers together.

“A Jaeger Snack might be needed if this gets worse than a simple ‘find the boogie man’ job.” She teased as she nodded to the guard. “It’ll be taken care of. Don’t worry.” She turns around and heads towards where the camp was. Tammy was great sometimes and had gone around to ask another guard where the camp was for them to go and investigate it. Ada didn’t worry about seeing if Jaeger was following her or not, he would have to come with her regardless. She kept her arms behind her head as she walked. “You don’t think this’ll be that easy… will you?” The exceed worriedly rested herself on Ada’s head. The slayer snickers loudly and shook her head. “Nah. I think it’s a fool in a mask trying to find treasure or something stupid like that!” She openly admits. She didn’t care if they were passing people, but she was also trying to give off the air that the people were overreacting. And if they were, she could back it up with whatever they find at this place.

The slayer takes a deep breath as she walked, finally releasing her arms and walking normal once again with Tamaria on her head. The cat was actually starting to shake a bit. With a snort, Ada glanced up to her head at the shaking creature. “If you need to Tammy, you can stay back. Jaeger and I can deal with this schmuck. No big-” “No! I’m staying to help you guys out!” “Suit yourself. I still say it’s more than a simple thing though.” The slayer looked around the area. The trees were starting to get closer together the farther they got into the forest. Similar to that with the Swollenman. That forest was fun… Adalinda held her hand out, and summoned forth an iron kunai.

It never hurts to be prepared.

After a while, Tammy removed herself from atop of Ada’s head to be able to scout ahead. “The camp should be up ahead!” She says while pointing ahead. She was honestly bummed they had to walk here, no one would even drive a carriage out this way… and Ada would have puked her guts out on the vehicle too. Stupid slayer con. The cat really hated that part of her slayer. It wasn’t something fun to work with. Ever. The exceed shook her head and took notice of her surroundings. Up ahead was a sign, and she quickly flew back to Ada and Jaeger, if he was with the dragon slayer. “Hey! The camp is just after the sign up ahead.” She points to a pole holding a little arrow pointing down another dirt path. Ada smiled to the exceed. “Thanks Tammy! Lets hurry.” Ada started to jog ahead a bit, ready to burst into a sprint when she suddenly was hearing noises not long after she got about a mile from the camp on the road Tammy pointed out.

She slowed to a walk, letting her ears listen again to hear what the noise was. It was low enough that she believed those without enhanced hearing, like her own, wouldn’t fully make it out. It was creepy though. It was whispers. But she couldn’t place a body to where they came from. She quickened her pace, hearing the voices. "Key key key... ha ha ha. Key key key... ha ha ha." She knew her own mental state wasn’t the best, especially with Veles taking up residence within her mind, but she honestly didn’t believe she was that crazy yet… ‘Oh, you are. You just ignore it.’ Veles snickered to the slayer casually before silencing himself and seeming like he was ignoring the slayer once again.

“Hey Jaeger,” The black haired girl calls out. If he was near, she looked back to him. “You hear those voices too, right?” Her eyes squinted a bit. She wanted to place where the voices were coming from. “For now, keep a low profile. We’re actually going to investigate this thing. Search… well, everywhere.” She says just as they stepped into the camp grounds. She started to hear the voices louder, and glares into the camp. They were getting annoying, and she shook her head to try and ignore the noise, but it was far too loud for her to ignore. Just her luck, huh? At least the Swollenman was quieter. She raised her hands up and plugged her ears, trying her hardest to ignore the sounds, but even her fingers were no match for the whispers. “I’m going to go nuts.” She groans as she removed her fingers and placed the palm of her hand over her ears, letting out an annoyed groan while lightly swaying her head in a circle.

The next thing she knew, she thrusted her hand out and punched a tree. She had enhanced her hand by coating it in her dragon scales and letting them steel up to make her punch all the more harder. Her punch had completely broken the tree, causing the thing to fall over at the point where her fist connected to the trunk. It wasn’t that skinny of a tree either. About five yards across on its own. She hoped to not let the iron go to waste, and let her whole body be covered in it now. A light fog was starting to roll out between the buildings of the camp, and Ada nodded slowly. “Not surprised…” She muttered while she was now nursing a headache from all of these whispers.

The meatbag in charge thought it wouldn’t be that simple, the alien begged to differ! Really, who believed in ghosts enough to be this afraid? Children, that’s who. Really, it’s probably some weirdo being a turd and just having a fun time. Sure, maybe multiple murders was a bit much and killing kids, no matter how annoying, wasn’t a great idea, but it was all about the good time, right? Either way their intended purpose or whatever delusional reasoning they had, whoever was committing these crimes were going a tad too far and now a guild was called in to handle it. Not only a guild, the West Fiore Trading Company, an odd ball of a group to have accepted such a quest, but they were mages like other guilds nonetheless.

“Naaaaaah. The Jaeger Snack will be for a kaboom well done. We’ll be fine handling this ghost story.”

The male mage responded to his ‘mentors’ remark as they left the barracks. As they wandered through the streets, the devil cat and the vice president talked about the job and wondered about who was doing it. Jaeger agreed, it would make sense for this murderous of a spirit or ghost to just miss two of its victims like this, they would have likely been lost in the forest until their timely demise.

“Yeah, it’s more than likely some just a Bandit with magic, playing pretend in the nearby woods. Using the legend of another murderer is a smart move by them though, helps keep people away.”

The two cents were added in and kept quiet for the remaining time until they reached a deeper part in the forest. They were following the cats lead on this, seemingly as she knew where to go. Was Tammy apart of this whole bandit murder thing? Were the mages being led into a trap that this purple fuzzball was going to spring on them? It was very suspicious and Jaeger was squinting his eyes to the flying feline, watching her weave and bob through the trees. If they were being led into the trap, the cat would be his first kill!

Soon enough, Ada quickened the group down out of some weird paranoia. As they walked, she looked back and asked the alien about the voices she was hearing. Jaeger wasn’t hearing anything.

“Nope, I hear nothing but you and your cat.”

And after that, they found the camp. No one seemed to be there as of yet, so they had time to set up an ambush or prepare for the dork making the spookums in the forest. Adalinda though, was more interested in searching the whole place. An audible sigh could be heard escaping his lips as he merged and sunk into the dirt. As he shifted, his nice white suit turned brown as if his very being was becoming dirt and soil.  The an searched the ground for any discrepancies, which he did find one. Shifting his hand to it, he found a book of sorts and moved it to his pocket for now. A split second later and he felt a large tree come tumbling down, which was likely due to his mentor as she was the only one around or could sense at the time.

“Don’t take it out of the trees, that’s very rude.”

The Great Tree mage exclaimed as he slowly shifted up and out of the tree stump. He was only about half way out, from the torso down was still connected to the now dead tree stump.

    Adalinda

    The Iron Dragon Slayer

The dragon Slayer had snorted a little to her mentee as he mentioned that the 'Jaeger Snack' would be a reward over a motivator or pick me up, whatever it would be, and simply nodded. Whichever got the job done, and hopefully right as well. She was sure something was going to happen regardless with how Jaeger tended to be it seemed. She also approved of his guess as well. That was along the same line as she was thinking for this bit. She'd get to have her fun and punch this guy's face in. But she would resist, at least for the face of the company she would. Only if she could get one punch in.

As the group ventured into the forest, Tammy could feel Jaeger's eyes on her a bit, but she didn't say anything since he was a weirdo. A creepy one, but a weirdo. She wondered why Adalinda still kept him as a mentee. Probably was because of Ruvel telling her or something. After Jaeger said that he was only hearing Ada and Tammy, Ada frowned deeply. That didn't help her. 'Told you that you were crazy.' Veles snorts at her. Jaeger, laughing at her for wanting to look around the camp, had her glaring at him. He wanted them to just be sitting ducks? That'd be on him. But then she realized he did his little dirt and tree travel thing.

“At least he’s doing work.” Tammy says before her slayer got a little touchy from all of the voices she was hearing. When Jaeger suddenly popped himself out from inside a tree, Ada was actually ready to punch him, but with his tentacle crap, she decided against that. “It was either the tree, or you when I saw you.” She grinned to her mentee. She then waved her hand, that had just punched the tree, in the air. “Let's continue to search the camp. I want to get this masked man caught and in jail, ASAP.” She says as she went towards a cabin. It was cabin six.

From where this cabin six was, there were about nine additional buildings to this one, all pretty shabby after years of not being cared for. Of the ten buildings here, six of them were sleeping cabins it seems, and with A and B sections. There was a building for indoor activities when it was raining, the mess hall, the toilets and shower, and equipment storage. A few of the buildings had broken windows or none at all. Graffiti was on the walls, but the majority of it wasn’t finished. Probably the most alarming was the scribbled ‘RUN AWAY’ on one of the buildings. The entrance of the camp had the building for the indoor camp activities as it’s welcome scene. The sleeping cabins were in a semi circle, with the ruined campfire in the center of it. Off to the side was the toilets and storage building, and completely behind all that, was the lake. The sleeping buildings went in order, one being the closest to the entrance, and six closest to the lake.

As she was going towards the door A of the cabin, trying her hardest to ignore all the chattering about keys, she heard a cry for some help, and splashing. Her hand had just grabbed the doorknob when she heard the cry, and her head instantly whipped towards the lake area when she heard water splashing too. Her icy blue eyes were ready to go and jump at anyone. It was her imagination. Yes. She wasn’t really hearing anything… she couldn’t have heard anything. She yanked the door open to the cabin and walked in to see the sad scene of the interior. Dust covered every surface available. Cobwebs everywhere, the fabric of the mattresses and the curtains torn and hanging. Some leftover supplies from the previous campers laid in duffle bags strewn about the room. She wondered what exactly happened here. Picking up a couple things, she noticed a faded, semi soggy journal on the floor. It didn’t seem soggy from water though… more from blood.

She opened the book and flipped through a couple pages just as Tammy came in behind her and blinked at the faded pink stained pages. “‘Camp has been a bust this year, especially since Stanley W is kicking up a fuss. He refuses to do anything that has to do with the lake! I don’t even know why the camp counselors even let him stay! Other than Stanley, I met a girl named Zera that can hold her breath for a minute under the water! And she…’ Wow this kid knows how to chatter.” Tammy snorts as she shakes her head to the journal. “Is there other things in here that might be of use to figuring out our masked killer?” Ada shook her head as she walked out of the cabin. That was probably the girls side to cabin A. She glanced towards the lake, and frowned a bit. This kid was afraid of water, and she swore she heard someone yelling for help and splashing…

Post by Nekros 10th July 2020, 7:02 am

Adalinda was way too stressed, what exactly was she afraid of?  For a mage that has gotten to S-rank, she sure isn’t acting like it right now. Skulking around, paranoid over a few voices that no one else can hear; perhaps she’s overworked and needed a break. After this job, she should go on a vacation and get away from the West Fiore Trading Company and the responsibilities of a vice president. Jaeger should get her something nice, like tickets to some resort. Despite here being some fun sucking buzz kill, the mage should do something generous for her. Maybe a crui… no she got sick on transportation vehicles. Crocus maybe? A tourist vibe visit to the Capital of Fiore. Now that he thought about it, as he idled on top of the tree, did the capital of Fiore have any interesting sites to visit and see?  It has been a while since the man had been there, and last time wasn't very interesting.

Either way, it’d be something to figure out after the job was done. For now, he did have a journal himself to check through and look for clues. The binding and outer shell of it seemed pretty worn. It was made of leather, but it was cracked, dirty, and getting fairly stiff from age. Opening it up, the pages were the same. Worn, torn, dusty and frail. It was clear that this book hadn’t been used in years or even decades. Some of the pages were ripped up or torn out, there seemed to only be a fraction of usable information from it. Not only that, but the entire journal wasn't even completely filled out. At least half of the pages were still blank and awaited a story to be placed upon them.

From the legible entries in the journal, it tells of an incident between the councilors and this Stanley kid.

“Day 12 - The councilors are trying to get Stanley into the lake again. He’s kicking and screaming about how he can’t swim. He’s really scared of the water, but the councilors just keep trying.  They should really let Stanley go home instead of staying at camp. He doesn’t seem to be having any fun and his tantrums really kill the mood for the rest of us.”

“Day 15 - Stanley is in a real bad mood today. All the other kids have been making fun of him and are encouraged by the adults around as well. I kinda feel bad for this kid, he’s always alone and just bullied about his swimming. I don’t get why they just won't let him leave, the councilors won’t even get his parents. We’re only half way through the camp, hopefully tomorrow will be better.”

Jaeger looked at the book and began remembering the monastery that he grew up in. While it wasn’t the worst place to be, there were a few instances of bullying and teasing among the kids. The monks made sure to try and stomp that sort of behavior out, but kids will be kids.

“Man, this Stanley kid seems to have had it rough.”

The man said to himself just before getting a bewildered look on his face. The look was of him just trying to grasp understanding of the words and scenarios that he read. It was that inner extraplanar change he had struggled with and wanting to learn. If any one saw him, it’d be like a dog turning its head when confronting something new. After a couple minutes, the mage would snap out of it and close the book. He stuffed it back into his jacket pocket and shifted below the stomp and dirt once more. Jaeger moved gracefully through the dirt, becoming one with the ground. He moved to find his mentor, the scaredy cat of the group.

The long haired woman was in one of the many cabins of the camp, he could sense it as he moved; but that wasn’t the only thing he could feel. Further out, he estimated by the lake, Jaeger could sense the magic and energy of another before disappearing. Something or someone else was indeed in the area, but had a way to hide their energy signature, even from his enhanced abilities.

“Odd, looks like things are actually starting to stir.”

He thought as he changed his focus back to re-grouping with his mentor in the cabin. It only took a few moments and he started to merge through the ground and the wooden floor of the cabin. Luckily they were fairly close to one another, or this would never have worked! The man was now behind the woman and looking over her shoulder at the book.

“So, find anything interesting in there? I found one myself, seems this stanley kid got bullied quite a bit, even by the adults that worked here. Kinda cruel, eh?

Oh and by the way, there’s something near the lake, have you seen anything there yet? I noticed a blip of magic over there before it disappeared.”

    Adalinda

    The Iron Dragon Slayer

Adalinda was still reading through the pages of the journal when Jaeger had suddenly popped up behind him. She tensed for only a second, but she glared over to him before she closed the book and started heading outside the cabin. “Just some girls diary or whatever about how camp was. Last page was about a Stanley kid too, and how-” She paused and looked over towards her mentee. “You said what?” She blinked for a moment, and glanced to Tammy. “I fucking wasn’t crazy!” She hissed as she quickly tore down the steps and raced towards the water. The panic on the dragon slayers face was there. She honestly would beat herself up if there was a person there that had been in danger and she ignored it because she thought it was her imagination!

Tammy paled a little as well. “We’ve only been in this cabin…” She admits to Jaeger, letting her slayer go on her own. She lowers her head and scratches it. “We should probably listen to Ada a bit more when she says she hears something, honestly. Her hearing is better than ours.” She tells their male companion on this mission. She padded down the stairs and started to look more around the camp. “Did you see anything else?” After those words left her lips, a loud splash was heard and Tammy could no longer see her slayer above the ground.

The black haired slayer had let herself jump into the mucky water and was trying to find the source of the splashing and cries for help. The slayer squinted under the water. Even with her dragon senses, they weren’t able to see too well into the water. She begun to swim back up till her head broke the surface of the water. “Fucking…” She hissed as she wasn’t smelling anyone or sensing any physical body nearby. She swam her way over to the shore of the lake and wrung out her hair. 'Was that really a wise choice?’ ‘Yes. There could have been an actual drowning person…’ ‘You charged in there though.’ ‘VELES! I don’t need your shit right now! Shut up and go the fuck away!’ The slayer huffed to herself before she stormed off of the lake beach and made her way to the camp again.

“Jaeger! If you feel that again, or anything like it, let me know immediately.” She says sternly as she glanced back towards the lake. She wanted to keep on searching the lake, but with the masked murderer on the loose around here, she wasn’t taking the risk with her exceed and fellow company member. She didn’t want to be responsible for them being harmed due to her being under the water searching for something that might not have been there since Jaeger mentioned that he sensed a ‘magic blip’ or whatever. She glanced towards the destroyed campfire and takes a deep breath. “For the sake of making sure nothing happens. Stay at least a building away from one another.” She tells Tamaria and Jaeger, pinching her nose. Tammy blinked. Ada was being serious. Slowly, the exceed nodded. “We’re going to find out about what happened here, or see if we can find anything on this Warheez guy at least. See if we can find anything that resembles a body dump too, since he kills people around here. There has to be a headquarters, base of operations or whatever around for a mystery man.”

She makes her way towards the indoor activities building, wanting to see if there was something she could find there. It was like the girls side of Building Six. Dusty, cobwebby, and broken materials and whatnot around the place. They had instruments in a corner bent all out of shape, music sheets strewn all over the floor and torn up. A sigh escaped her lips. She was still hearing chattering about keys and the like. She could ignore it, just like she did Veles. They were nothing. Little annoyances. Pests. She could ignore them. She walked around the building and frowns again as she sees another notebook. This would be the second one she found. She flipped it open and read the final entry. It was about this Stanley W once again. This time it was about how the counselors were getting annoyed with his slow walk he had going on. The writer exposed that the counselors teased the everliving hell out of the poor boy, especially them holding the fact that he was afraid of the water over his head too.

A huff escapes her lips as she shakes her head and looks around the room. She could tell there was another room under the floor here, but there wasn’t an entrance here inside the building to it. The structure was unstable, she couldn’t pound down the floor without it tumbling down. Not yet anyways. ‘Wow… you’re thinking smart for once.’ The dragon in her consciousness was snickering at her. She shook her head and blinks as she looks towards the door. Two female, and two male blue ghosts were suddenly blocking her path. One reached out towards Ada, and felt ice cold to the touch. The slayer panicked for a moment before another one reached out and yanked her arm to yank her out of the building. She stumbled out with a couple spots on her with ice covering where the ghosts touched her. “Fuuuuuck!” She groans. “Tammy! Jaeger! Be careful of ghosts! Don’t let them touch you!” She shouts as loudly as she could. Something was stomping in the woods a distance away. Adalinda couldn’t fully make out what it was, but it was heading towards them. She hoped it was just an animal that was curious of her shouting.

The four ghosts that were in the doorway slowly started to slip out one by one, going after the slayer. She grit her teeth and summoned her steel sword, shaking her head as she uses it to cut at the ghosts, hoping it would work. To her surprise, it did! They were gone the moment the blade touched them!. Suspicious. Her icy blue eyes glared away from the building, making sure she wasn’t being snuck on by more ghosts or not.

Jaeger stood there and watched his mentor run out of the room. Adalinda went like a bolt, a crossbow, lightning would be faster than her, but she screamed that she wasn’t crazy. The mage would smash the x button for doubt if he could. Prior to anything else he could say, the woman was in the water and swimming out into the center of the lake. He just stood there, blankly as Tammy gave him some shit about listening more.

“Are you sure? I mean… I did say the blip was GONE. Only a crazy person would ignore everything else and go into a haunted lake, and my hearing is twenty twenty, she’s not the only one with enhanced physical capabilities. But….

How soaked do you think her white clothes will be when she gets out?”

The last comment came with a wink and smirk to the flying devil cat before he would simply sink back into the ground below the wooden cabin. He did this fully to try and give Tammy no time to react to his comment. Jaeger moved stealthily through the soil and made his own way down towards the lake, stopp about half way after feeling Adalinda come back up onto dry land. He stopped and waited for her to pass, sensing her move back up towards the previous cabin. She wanted them to be safe and stick to a single cabin length apart.

Jaeger’s head was only partially shown by this point, looking back to Adalinda and Tammy the cat. When looking at him, you could see his eyes, ears, hair, and most of his nose. To the side was a thumbs up, agreeing to her statements but before he would sink back into the dirt, his face morphed and twisted into that of his alien self, it was that of a long dark vertical pit that stretched from the hair line down to the bottom of his nose. In the middle of this facial tear was a singular, glowing, red point that shifted around like an eyeball. Within seconds, it morphed back to the Jaeger knight the company knew. The face slowly disappeared back into the dirt and he shuffled off to find more clues.

As he made his way through, Jaeger felt a disturbance in the dirt, as if there was a basement to one of these cabins. But why would one of these cabins need a basement? They have a building for storage, one for sleeping, one for food, and anything else they would need is above the surface of the land. A basement is only for nefarious deeds in camps! Have they not seen Revenge of the Basement Lacrima? Where a lacrima came to life in the basement of a camp and killed everyone?! Come on! Darn cabin planners, can’t do anything right.

    “What do we have here?”

The young, handsome, and brave young man said to himself. Jaeger jumped right out of the wall into some sort of basement beneath one of the cabins. The room was fairly basic, it had a desk with papers, a couple books, and writing utensils on it. On the opposite side of the room was another desk, looked kind of like drawers, and a red hat on top of it. Only two kinds of humans would use a hidden basement, trouble making kids or a camp counselor with dastardly bad intentions! So the mage picked up the hat and put it on his head prior to searching the books and papers on the other desk.

    “Oh, this is something else.”

With that remark, the scene receded back to show the mage was reading one of the books. It was a journal written by one of the counselors here at the camp. Just from these excerpts, these grown adults were real thunder bunts to this kid Stanley  and for no reason. Killing and all was fine… but at least make it other adults. Killing a kid because he had a fear of water, these were true monsters! Though it did lead the man to wonder, were these people still alive?

“Day 20 - The other counselors and I are fed up with Stanley W. Everytime we go anywhere near the water, he freaks out like a crybaby and we have to try and force him in. Not anymore, we’re going to toss that brat into the lake tonight and just leave him. We’ve already got a plan to say he disappeared on a trip through the woods, not like anyone can say otherwise. Just as long as we stick to our guns, we’ll all get away with this.”

“Day 21 - It’s done, Stanley wont be bothering anyone else again. Johnny is pretty nervous, we gotta make sure he doesn’t just spill the beans to the authorities. Otherwise, we’ll get away with this just fine, everyone will be none the wiser. Last thing to really do is just get through this camp season.”

    “Oof”

A whisper escaped his lips after finishing the journal, it was a log of what true monsters look like. It’d be good to keep as evidence for the Garrison back in Clover Town. Perhaps…. Could it be Stanley taking revenge by haunting the camp site? Was Ada really not crazy and there has been a spirit the whole time?!!? Perhaps, but Adalinda is still crazy, but that crazy was his mentor and he should at least report the journal. One again, he slipped into the wall and dirt to move to the surface where he could sense Adalinda and the cat.

“So…. the camp Counselors murdered that Stanley W. kid, tossed him right into the lake in the middle of the night and let him dro…

What do you mean not to let them touch me? I’ll touch whoever I want!”

While holding the journal in his right hand, the mage flexed now only his muscles, but the mythical amor beneath his suit. The suit jacket and shirt both ripped open as the servos and metal plating pulsed. The man was now 8 armed like a metallic, walking spider.

    Adalinda

    The Iron Dragon Slayer

As the two were over at the lake watching over the iron dragon slayer while she was in the water searching for a possible source of the splashing, the exceed glanced up to the male with a squint. She opened her mouth to speak, but Jaeger had already let himself slip under the dirt and away from her. “Holy shit… Ada has gotten herself a perverted mentee…” The cat mutters as she covers her face. “She should have punched him harder earlier.” She groaned as she shook her head and looked to the sky. Would they be able to deal with this? She honestly didn’t know…

When the black haired dragon slayer emerged on the land again, clothes clinging to her body and her clothes slightly see-through, enough to show her chest some, the exceed clears her throat. “You shouldn’t have jumped in while wearing white.” “I don’t give a damn about that.” She growls before instructing about staying a cabin length apart. She glanced down to the top of the head of Jaeger and glared at him some before he popped away once again. She had paused after seeing the weird head deal Jaeger had, and was utterly confused about it. She shook her head and turned away. Tammy hadn’t noticed it at all. “He asked about how soaked your white clothes would be when you got out.” Tammy ratted rather easily to the slayer. The slayer's face twisted to that of disgust before she shook her head and ran off to the indoor activities building. Of course he would have.

It only took a matter of minutes for Adalinda to come in contact with the ghosts and had Jaeger coming up nearby her telling her about some camp counselors killing someone. ‘You idiot… they killed the kid in the journals! Stanley W.’ Veles hissed at his host while she swung her sword about and started slicing it at the ghosts. “Okay! Go ahead and touch these ghosts! They’ll freeze your fucking punk ass, you little shit!” She growls to Jaeger while she jumped back from one of the ghosts grasps. “Leeeeeeeaaveeeee” One ghost seemed to growl at them. Ada honestly didn’t give a single damn about how her mentee looked now with the whatever spider armor deal he had on. She just wanted him to back the hell off so he wouldn’t be touched by these ghosts.

“I think these used to be camp counselors!” Tammy pipes up and had her own sword out, ready to smack the ghost with it should she needed to, but it seemed she didn’t as Ada’s sword sliced through the ghosts no issue. Ada looked over to Jaeger and glared at him. “That hat… doesn’t look like it suits you.” She muttered before rolling her eyes. Tammy looked up and snorts. “Kinda agree. I think a green one would be better on you, not red.” The rumbling from the forest came again, distracting the slayer from her mentee as the noise wasn’t hiding itself. “What else could be coming…?” She groans. She really wanted to find the serial killer and be done with this. She held her sword up and listened a bit. The noise was being quiet again as she looked to Jaeger and to Tammy.

The purple exceed wasn’t hearing much, but she held her sword up just in case. She hoped whatever was out there would show themselves soon. She didn’t want to have to deal with it… the paperwork on its own would be hard on her. Heavens knows Adalinda wouldn’t do the paperwork like she should be doing. She was like an Alishia for Adalinda! Why did her slayer have to be similar to her mentor?! She was going to ask for a raise, maybe doubled. That sounded nice at least.

The smell hit Ada rather quickly. “Someone’s here.” She says as she points her sword in the direction of a man who came out from between a couple buildings. Carrying a bloodied machete, the man was nearly a whole foot taller than Adalinda and probably doubled her weight. He wore a navy blue jumpsuit with brown shoes and a white hockey mask upon his face that covered even his eyes apparently. “Warheez.” The slayer muttered. That was when Tammy shrieked. “Stanley was his kid!” Ada’s head quickly snapped to the exceed. “Stanley W. Stanley Warheez! He’s Kayson Warheez’s son! Why else would he be terrorizing the place after the kid went ‘missing’?!” Tammy stole the notebooks from Jaeger and Adalinda, reading through them. She begun nodding as she looked over to the red hat on Jaeger’s head. “Gimme that! They mentioned in this journal about him wearing it.” The exceed exclaimed while yanking it off of the mentees head and flew over towards the masked man.

The exceed landed a decent distance from him and looked down to the hat before walking up to the man. Adalinda was a bit tense, holding the sword down and at least trying to not seem ready to pounce in case her cat got harmed. Tamaria smiled to the man and held up the hat. “This was his, right?” She asked curiously. Slowly, the man knelt down in front of the cat, setting his machete down. He removes his mask from his face and sadly smiles to the hat. “Yeah… That was my Stanleys…” He murmurs, smiling softly to the exceed. “Thank you… for finding out what happened to him… I knew he didn’t run away.” He gingerly trades the hat for the mask, leaving it there as he started to walk towards the lake. As he did so, the bluish figure of a kid is standing on the shore. The kid was smiling to Kayson, and Ada seemed to pale a bit as she watched Kayson walk right in with the ghost kid.

Tammy sighs deeply as she walks over. “If you two are done… I’ll go to the barracks and turn in these things to them after you guys leave.” Ada shakes her head as she takes a deep breath. “I’m good at least. I’ll carry the machete.” She grabbed the handle of the sword, and started to walk back to the entrance of the camp. Tammy looked up to Jaeger, and nods to him. “You did good, kind of. Please keep up the good work.” With that, the cat flew off after Adalinda with the hockey mask in her own paws.
