Re: Urban Nights (Solo)
It had been quite some time since she’d been in such a public location. Sticking towards smaller towns and isolated locations as of late, minus the guild hall and the mountains nearby. While she was immune to the cold, her guest could not be in the same boat. Yes, that was right. Recently, Sanguine took along a friend she’d met during a little body guarding job. Her task was to watch her back, and additionally the mage was helping herself by serving the girl like a maid. It was something in her blood at this point and frankly she was very happy to do so. At first, her job was thought to be fruitless and full of menial jobs that would just lead her to have to harm the girl to keep her from acting out, but she came to the surprise that her client was a sweet girl. In fact, she could recall her rather well from Midi films and shows. A quite fortunate deal for her that she recognized the starlet as well as her being as sweet and innocent as portrayed. Thankfully so.
The girl named Addilyn Amara was a cute thing really; long, raven black hair cut in a traditional hime style, wonderful turquoise colored eyes, a light complexion that appeared to be fragile to the sun, but time in the summer sun was proof to the falsehood of her suspicions. But why would she need a bodyguard? And for that matter, why hire someone not on the role of a knight or a mercenary guild? Trying to wrap her head around it was a tough thing, however it wasn’t something to fret over really. It hadn’t been until she first had to stop someone from sneaking into her back room that she learned something. This girl was being targeted by someone. Doing harm to her? Well, she couldn’t be a permanent guard to this girl and frankly she was too good a person to pass judgement and let her get hurt or even killed. She took the girl off after finishing her latest protest and in a sudden push of a kiss, planted a seed of magic into her. With a haughty smirk, the maid giggled and explained what was going to happen. From today on she would be her pupil. Learning the ways of magic for her self defense. She felt this was something worthy of good reputation, however this wasn’t for her own good. She cared little for herself anymore. Slowly feeling like a hollow shell with no purpose... sad really.
The girl was a very quick study. Learning her hair magic rather quickly and soon after she did the same with blood magic. Since Sanguine had a lacrima, she had different properties and colors compared to her pupil, but all the same she did her best to teach her. All in all, a couple months passed during their training and frankly in that time, Sanguine could not have been any prouder from a girl her age. She’d grown to equal if not stronger than the head maid, however she couldn’t be beat in a match of blood Magic’s as she could easily feed off of her raven haired client. As a treat, the two made their way to Hosenka in order to go for a spa before the Urban Night event. Something of a surprise to the actress no less, but happy as well. ”Well Addi, shall we head off?” The maid asked, having dressed herself back into her maid uniform rather than normal clothes. As Addilyn packed her clothes into her bag, she looked up with a bright smile and nodded. ”Yes, sensei! I’m ready to go when you are!” She replied happily, a bit of a bubbly attitude with it.
As two arrived at the location, it was overrun with people and both girls shared in the same surprised reaction. They didn’t expect things to be popping along so quick, but at the same time a one night event was to be expected on how quick it could come and go. The two made their way over to the drinks. Ordering one for herself and a soda for her companion, they had come out rather quick. Strange, but probably due to a slow time and that only one of them wanted an alcoholic drink. Not much for one, it seemed like a fun night would deserve a little dip in the pool that was a pure treat for herself. Besides, cocktails were nothing if you had one and having to stay on guard despite how well trained her little pupil was had been important to her. With a smile, Sanguine took her drink and lifted up to her face, tipping the glass when the drink began to bubble and before she could react, she had been blasted by a mini geyser of liquid into her eyes and what she felt was also up her nose. The starlet began to laugh at the turmoil of her sensei while she coughed and rubbed her eyes free of the stinging drink. ”I’m so glad you think this is funny, Addilyn.” She said with a small snarl.
A few sudden gasps caught the attention of metal reverberating in the air. As if nothing had happened, Sanguine continued to brush her now stained uniform as clean as she could while a section of her hair had halted a samurai holding a sword. The tip aimed directly at a somewhat shocked Addilyn. ”If you have no honor to even ask a lady for a battle, you should be ashamed.” Narrowed eyes of disinterest had shun onto a neon samurai. With him stood several other various creatures and beings. Mechanical, beastial, and even demonic looking. ”Addi, can you handle the others?” She asked, taking her eyes away from her surprise enemy. With an affirmative nod, she ran off past the samurai to begin getting ready to fight the others. Meanwhile, the Demi dragoness would release the grip her hair had on him. Flesh shred from her arms as her claws and scales would appear.
A series of explosions would rock the block as the two’s Magic’s would cause people to scramble in fear. Fleeing to safe areas to watch, the neon beasts and demonic beings had easily been blown away, while the cyborg like enemies sound waves kept her at bay from fighting very well. Meanwhile, Sanguine continued to trade blows with her enemy, each blow dealt drawing out more and more volition abilities of hers while parts of the bar were melting of acid. Claw meeting blade, only creating fluttering bits of neon flames slowly began to char the scales and claws. So much so the steam could be seen coming off of them. ”Not bad. I haven’t had a fight like this in a long time.” Over and over, the two had made a trade of blows between harsh slashes to the samurai and burning, singed flesh on the head maid. Both parties looked to be gaining wear fast from their wounds, but neither of the two backing down from continuing their onslaught. Large explosions, streaks of neon flames and bursts of them had rung out in the air. Coating the surrounding area in blood, fire, acid, and debris decorated their new battlefield.
The battle carried on for what seems like forever. Neither side giving in to the other. At this point, Addilyn had finished her opponents off and they were all unconscious, beasts and humanoids alike. But for her, it was something else to watch her fight like this. The look in her eyes as she had never seen before. It seemed like if she were in the highlight of her life right now and it was something to behold. She could remember in their time training how she would watch films, musicals, and other performances and seeing how closely people resonated with the character they portrayed. It made her see the things that she was told and the starlet couldn’t agree more. The battlefield was Sanguine’s stage and she shined so brightly in it that she couldn’t see her as anything less than the greatest instructor she’d had before. In the couple of months they spent together, she’d become a little like an older sister and it did show in how they acted together some days.
And in a moment, that spotlight over the two fighting halted. The air knocked from her lungs, body frozen as her eyes stared into one of the most horrific scenes of her life. Neon flames struck through the chest of the maid. With her mind and body on pause, trying to comprehend the reality before her, she watched her body slowly creep down to its knees. With it had been black crystallized blood. It looked unpredictable, sharp ends spiking out from a center as the shade looked almost like an Onyx black color. It shot from her own body into that of the samurai’s and as her body dropped, whatever extra crystallized blood shifted. The shift caused the samurai to cough up a bit of blood and then stagger back. As he did, the spikes pulled out of his body and allowed him a moment of time where he could begin to try and either shift to die on his own or recover enough to run.
”SENSEEEIIII!!!” She screamed out suddenly, moving before she could even think. Getting down to the maid as her body collapsed onto the ground, the starlet looked down as she inspected her mentor and bodyguard as she had begun to smile. ”Add... you’re ok...” The voice was broken up, easily showing a hardship to breathe. ”No no, please hold on! Y-You’re gonna be ok! Please Madi!” Even to use her real name in hopes to spark some extra life, it only made the maid reach up and place a hand on her cheek. ”I cannot. This spell ripped the lacrima from my chest... bad luck some would say. But you know me, the lord has last choice of whom lives and whom dies... But you... you can do better.” Teary eyes trailed up the crystal blood to see indeed her lacrima was caught up inside. ”It’s what I signed up for. Just.. take it and run before the Rune Knights get here.” The girl continued to defy the maids orders and even showed her so with the shaking of her head. ”You know I can’t lose someone else! What what... what if I put it back in!?” She was in a panic while thinking of something to bring her back around, but it only made the dying Demi dragoness chuckle. ”I’ve told you.. the lord picks when we go, Addi. But... knowing I had helped one more innocent person before I passed.. puts me.. at ease.” The cupped hand would quickly slide down and then fall onto lap of the raven haired teen. ”No no no! Please please come back!” Addilyn’s screaming pleas fell on dead ears and a cracking nearby caught her attention once it had crumbled. Inside the pool of blood was the lacrima she had. But.. what if she tried? No.. maybe her final wish was for her to be ultimately protected? But... could it have been her wish that she take it? The starlet took no time to think before she lifted up the corpse of the maid and gave one last hug.
As she laid her back down carefully and slowly, she reached to the back and pulled off her collar around her neck. ”I’ll make sure this goes back to them, sensei. You’ll be revered as a hero.” Even if she were the only one, the raven haired girl stood up and walked over to the crumbled crystal blood and pulled out the lacrima nestled within it. ”And you... I’ll figure out a way to get you working. Then sensei will forever be with me.” Putting on a smile, she slipped her way into the gathering crowd and even a couple of around knights whom showed up to break up the show paid her no mind. Now was not a time to break down in tears. She had to stay strong and stay positive like she were taught.
