Snowy Cottage, the Bastion Job

Bastion quietly climbed the mountain towards the tiny village his job was at this time. A building job. Definitly out of the norm for him, but after the disasterous battle with the lion on his last job, he figured what could possibly go wrong, right? This was a secure area with no expected combat, friendly enough people from what he had heard. Sounded like an easy job!

As he neared the village, Bastion couldn't help but smile. It seemed like a pretty peaceful place, and what few people were out and about in the cold, seemed to be pretty happy and friendly. As he neared a few even noticed him and waved, and with their help it wasn't long before he found the place he was supposed to be working at, a small cleared section with an old man and a young man, who seemed to be waiting on him.

The old man and his son looked up as Bastion approached, and smiled and waved. "Hoho! You must be the help we asked for!" The old man said as he walked to meet Bastion. "I appreciate it. I am not as young as I used to be, and I feel bad for making my son do all the work. Names Eustace, and this here is Jared. Now, how much do ya know bout building cottages son?" the old man finished, peering at Bastion with one eye as he held a pipe up to his lips.

Bastion couldn't help but smile at the pair. He could get used to it up here. "I know enough to help ya get it up. I couldn't do one on my own, but that's what you are here for yes?" he said, extending his gloved hand. "Names Bastion. I understand you don't want magic used in the construction of the cottage, and I can respect that easily enough. Lets get started."

The old man smiled and slowly hobbled off to the side, as Jared stepped forward to show Bastion where the wood was. "Now, we got the foundation laid, but it took a long time, and winters gonna be here before we can get the walls and roof up. Well, most of the other villagers are to busy and pa doesn't wanna interrupt their own provisioning for winter. So that's why we called you. If we can get the walls and roof up, we can get this thing finished quickly enough. So, think ya can do it?"

Bastion nodded as he tossed his hat aside and headed towards the lumber. He honestly had no idea how to build a house, but it couldn't be to hard. First thing first was to make the walls. He took a look at what he had, more than enough wood to do the floor and walls, and they had straw for insulating the roof. Even tar off to the side in a big pot! Everything he would need. These two hadn't been kidding. He grinned, glad to be getting his hands dirty with some good old fashioned labor, and headed towards the flat boards first to start the floor.
