Positions Information
Pay Scale Legend
- Pay Scale Legend:
- The following legend gives an idea of how much each position would earn on a yearly basis. This information is only for plot use, as players cannot earn a tangible jewel income from player owned businesses. Rather than translate into numbers, since jewel is a rather inflated system in the Fairy Tail world, I've instead given an idea on the type of lifestyle a player could expect to maintain on the figure associated with their position. Even the lowest tiered employees make enough money to live without having to worry about paying their bills, as long as the character doesn't have a habit of spending more than they make. Thus, no employees of Sinclair Mining Company should consider themselves poor.
$ Lower middle class; enough to live reasonably, without being in poverty, but not necessarily being able to splurge without saving.
$$ Middle class; enough to live in mild comfort with notable wiggle room in budget.
$$$ Upper middle class; enough to live very comfortably with a few small pleasures here and there.
$$$$ Upper middle class; enough to live richly, if not necessarily lavishly, without needing to worry much about bills or budgeting.
$$$$$ Upper class; enough to live expensively. Able to splurge without concern to finances.
$$$$$$ Upper class; enough to live lavishly. Equivalent of a real world millionaire.
Upper Level Management
- Upper Level Management:
- The CEO and COO are the top owners of the company that have full control and rights over all decisions pertaining to the business. They also take full responsibility for the state of the company and its employees. They get the final say in all business and personnel matters. The CEO and COO directly oversee the Administration, Human Resources, and Security departments and the employees therein.
The Chief Controllers are secondary owners just below the CEO and COO. These positions are only filled by members of the Sinclair family that would have inheritance rights to the company should both Byron and Serilda relinquish ownership either voluntarily or as a result of death or grave delinquency. The Controllers are not necessarily part of the day to day managements of the business, but are recipients of financial and production logs, are considered to have top clearance in accessing confidential information pertaining to the company, and may be used as consultants in business matters.
The CFO is directly in charge of all things pertaining to money and budgeting. They create financial strategies and keep track of budgetary plans. The CFO builds a business plan on things such as who to sell to, determining the worth of the product and its market value, sets financial goals, allots budgets to the rest of the company’s departments, etc. They also directly oversee the Finance department and its employees.
The Vice Presidents work closely with the CFO in building strategies and overseeing their areas of focus. The VP of Marketing focuses on sales and advertisement plans, while the VP of Production focuses on the quality, acquisition, and distribution of product. As additional aspects of their responsibilities, the Marketing VP directly oversees the Marketing and Sales department and its employees, while the Production VP does the same for the Production and Labor departments.
General Management
- General Management:
- Directors are directly responsible for taking the plans and strategies that their respective Chiefs or VPs create, translating them, and putting them into action. They handle the day to day processes in their departments and make most of the general executive decisions in their fields, only passing issues up to the chief managers if it is a matter above their paygrade. They are also responsible for gathering data and reports to pass back to the Chiefs and VPs to keep the upper management in the know about the progress of the business. They also are responsible for the training and discipline of the employees in their departments.
Assistant Directors perform the same duties and activities as the Directors, at just a step down in authority. Their primary job is to aid the Directors in seeing the strategies of the VPs and Chiefs put into motion, and often take the burden of responsibility and authority if the Director is not present to do so.
Low Level & Nonmanagment
- Low Level & Nonmanagement:
- Secretaries work directly for the Chiefs and Vices, acting as their personal assistants in all matters. These individuals assist the Chiefs and Vices in communicating with the rest of the managers and employees, as well as with clientele, performing such duties as filtering phone calls, relaying reports and information, scheduling appointments and meetings, and other menial and administrative tasks requested by their direct supervisors. Generally speaking, an individual wishing to speak with a Chief or VP will have to first communicate with one of these secretaries. They do not handle general calls, only taking inquiries that directly involve the Chiefs and VPs.
Receptionists are lower level secretaries that filter general calls and manage general visitations by clients and guests. They help direct people seeking information or assistance to the right departments, and act as liaisons between the various departments in helping them communicate with one another. They may also perform such duties as hiring contractors to maintain the grounds, buildings, and other such properties should something need to be fixed or addressed such as property damage or broken equipment.
The Public Relations Officer focuses on maintaining the image and reputation of the company with the general public. They work directly with all departments and upper level management to ensure that all work and communications with the public properly reflects the integrity of the company, and are responsible for such things as handling press conferences and business politics.
The Payroll Coordinator is directly responsible for handling the distribution of employees’ payroll, as well as the budgeting for such. This coordinator confirms and verifies pay rates and accounts for fluctuations in these numbers as employees come and go from the business, and receive raises. They are also the leading individual responsible for communicating information on tax related issues, as well as answering payroll questions.
The Accounts Payable Officer is responsible for the billing and processing of payments from clients that purchase from the company, as well as any other payment related issues between the company and third parties that are not employees of the business. They handle discrepancies in these bills and payments and work with the general public to ensure the business is receiving the money owed to them as well as paying bills due by the company itself.
Finance Officers assist the Payroll Coordinator and Accountant in working with the general public. They screen incoming calls and provide general information to clients, and assist with troubleshooting any issues or confusions related to billing and payroll that do not need to be escalated to higher management.
Generalists are non management HR representatives that assist in working directly with the company’s employees on all matters related to health, benefits, discipline, and inter-office disputes. They work directly under the Director and Assistant Director of their department, and filter all calls, inquiries, and concerns, only passing matters up to their supervisors when higher management is required.
Supervisors work directly in the mines and oversee the manual laborers. They assist the Minors with digging but are also expected to direct them in the mines, making sure the job is being done, and that the work is being completed as safely and efficiently as possible. They are also the first line of both discipline and care for the Miners. Supervisors assist with verifying the product from the mines and determining whether the gathered ores are worth forwarding to the production department for processing, as well as training the Minors on proper procedures, techniques, and expectations for the job.
Minors are the ground workers inside the mines that are personally responsible for digging through the rock and dirt to find the raw precious stones that the company sells. These employees must be in the peak of health and be either physically or magically capable of performing duties of hard labor.
Marketers work directly with the Director and Assistant Director of Marketing to advertise the product and business in order to gather interest from clientele. They handle such things as advertisements and promotions, and work closely with the Sales Reps to gather information on what strategies are effective and ineffective with the public.
Sales Representatives are directly responsible for working with both existing and potential clientele in selling the product and establishing contracts and purchases. They often perform these duties both in the office and out in the field, and are responsible for establishing, building, and maintaining trust and rapport with the customers.
Foremen are lower level management that oversee the Linemen in the warehouses, directing and organizing the product and shipments. It is their job to make sure all product brought in from the mines is properly categorized, appraised, and cleaned, and that all orders are filled in a timely fashion.
Lineman are non-management workers that filter through the stones brought in from the mines, checking the product for imperfections, worth, and other such quality related issues. They also clean the raw product and make sure that it is presentable and ready to be shipped to buyers, and organize the stones for easy and simple processing.
The Lead Officer is lower level management directly responsible for enforcing safety and security procedures on all parts of the business grounds. This person acts as the first point of security contact in the field, monitoring the officers on their duties and communicating matters of higher import to the Director and Assistant Director, as well as making supervisory decision in the absence of either of the other authorities.
Officers' duties are to patrol the business grounds to ensure the safety of all company employees both in the business offices and in the mines. It is also their job to ensure that product is transported safely from the mines to the warehouses, and to monitor the products for potential thefts and other security related discrepancies or issues. They have the right to make arrests on the company grounds, and are in regular contact with the Rune Knights in ensuring the safety and supervision of buildings, employees, product, and property.
Applications
If you wish to apply for an open position, please copy/paste and fill out the below application and submit it as a reply to this thread. Generally speaking, all players are allowed to submit any of their characters as potential employees to Sinclair Mining Company, however the company does heavily screen their employees ICly with things like background checks through the Rune Knights and drug tests. This means that if you are going to apply with a dark mage character, there needs to be reasonable enough evidence to prove that the character would pass these kinds of tests and not be openly known as a dark mage or an active criminal. As in real life, having a criminal history does not necessarily disqualify someone for employment, and all such decisions will be judged case by case.
All applications are processed on a first come, first serve basis. Serilda maintains the right to approve or deny any application for any reason. ANY MEMBER APPLYING FOR AN UPPER LEVEL OR GENERAL MANAGEMENT POSITION cannot work a second job with any other company (aside from their guild) as these are considered full time positions that require focus, dedication, and the ability to perform their duties readily even if off the clock. However, low level management and nonmanagment positions are allowed to have secondary jobs outside the company if it makes sense for their character.
