Name: Koetsu Muramasa
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Birthday: 11/4
Sexuality: Asexual
Special Characteristics: Scars on his back he doesn't like to talk about, none which are consistently visible.
Personality: Koetsu has very limited world experience outside steel, the forges of the Sword God Cult, and the others who learned alongside him. He makes a lot of correlations between swords and unrelated subjects, because that's how he thinks. He isn't entirely daft though, he's of a keen mind, believing wits to be the sharpest sword of all. If there is something to be learned, he will try to learn, albeit he has a tendency to cut off the excess and learn what's practical to him.
Relationship-wise, he is weirdly involved, getting very close to others so as to reach their essence. He prefers to get to know others, be they friend or foe, client or contract, as quickly as possible. His tendency to rush such relationships instead of letting them develop properly, is a tad problematic, and when it doesn't work out he cuts them loose, sometimes literally if required. However, people who are receptive to his brand of relationship often find that he can bring out the best in them, once he's comfortable with what they have.
The swordsmith has a weak understanding of how to be a normal person, and thusly has no real grasp on how empathy works. He can comprehend a goal and thusly know what a person wants, but not why they want it. More than anything, he likes making swords, and wants to balance his swordsmithing business with his work as a guild mage. He has a tendency to put challenging commissions before easier ones, because he enjoys being challenged, but in the same way, he likes taking on difficult jobs.
In battle, he has a tendency to think selfishly, about how to keep himself safe more than anything that might benefit an ally. He's not afraid to get scrappy and go head to head in close combat, but at the same time, he'll gladly put the brunt of work on another ally if it'll save him some energy on doing some unchallenging tasks he has no interest in. The more challenging a fight seems, the more effort he's willing to put in. This extends to other activities as well, such as extreme sports and whatnot. He is naturally talented at such things, for no perceivable reason.
Likes:
•Swords: Obviously, having dedicated his life to the art of swordsmithing, Koetsu would have a passion for swords, the higher quality the better.
•Candy: Sweets weren't terribly common through his training, and the fact that they are so accessible in modern society is a decadent dream for him. A little too much of his money goes to buying confectionary treats.
•Money: Money can be used to buy sweets, and housing, and metal, and drinks, and entertainment, and gifts, and... -this goes on for a while-
Dislikes:
•Guns: Guns are a disgusting invention which lessened the traditional value of swords by rendering the everyman capable of killing people. Thankfully magic generally offsets the danger, at least in his field of work, and thusly he can make a living.
•Thugs: He spent a while after escaping the cult homeless and he got bullied by goons fairly regularly due to his morals regarding non-violence against everymen. No matter how he preached to them, he got pummeled just the same, and now he holds a grudge against folks with the same demeanor.
•Air Travel: Heights are not terrifying on their own, but without control over his own speed in the air it's a harrowing experience. Other forms of transport don't bug him, but he gets air sickness.
Motivations:
•The Ultimate Sword: Koetsu's foremost goal, though it may be a poor choice to continue carrying it, is to forge the greatest sword in the world. He got it while training under the possessed swordsmiths, but the passion regarding the subject didn't fade when he finally escaped, even while surrounded by his every other dream.
•Find Humanity: The cult lacked one major thing, a certain spark of life which Koetsu finds that many people outside of the cult certainly possess. He believes this spark to be the fundamentals of humanity, and he seeks to obtain that which was stolen from him in his youth.
•Luxury: The other thing he never had because of the cult, and once he obtained it, he had a fixation on it. What money he doesn't spend on candy gets spent on maintaining his upscale tastes in lifestyle.
Fears:
•Explosions: An incident involving a forge furnace exploding took out of his peers and the shock of the incident still rattles him to this day.
•Possession: The possessed swordsmiths of the Cult which raised him were each formerly a fellow swordsmith who failed to meet a certain quality requirement and were subsequently possessed by some fractional spirit of the the god they worshipped. This punishment looming over his head was a constant fear until the day a guild mage took down the Cult.
•Religion: Having escaped from a life in a sinister cult of swordsmiths, Koetsu had experienced the very worst of religious zealotry. This fact has caused him to fear pretty much any religion at all. This is not to be confused with disrespect, as he understands the sentiments of serving a God. The fact remains that this sentiment opens one to corruption much in the same vein as his own experiences, and he fears that corruption most of all: The corruption borne of good intentions.
