Name: Yogi Babel
Gender: Male
Age: 14
Birthday: 5/10
Sexuality: Bi-Curious
Special Characteristics: A lion-like mane of bubblegum pink hair seems pretty distinct even in-universe. Asides that, nothing really.
Personality: Yogi is smarter than your average adolescent. He was raised to be a scholar just like his father, and to that end one would be cut some slack for thinking him to be an effeminate adult male of some sort. In terms of scholars though, he has diverged a good bit from feeling like a researcher to being more of a collector. His take is that as long as whoever has a relic is taking good care of it, it's in good hands. When getting into the debate of good vs evil, of course he favors a good owner over an evil owner, but the greatest evil is that mankind might forget.
In terms of intrapersonal relationships, one might be intimidated by how intense he is at rest. Yet when approaching him with any piece of conversation, you can be sure he'll have something to say on the subject. He holds a vast array of shallow knowledge in just about every field, so despite his age, he's capable of keeping up with just about any conversation, even regarding things like another country's foreign policies and propaganda, or weapon regulations within the Rune Knights. Obviously this knowledge is skin deep, not drawn from any sort of experience.
Regarding combat, Yogi is an overall smart type of fighter who quickly tries to take over a commander position if granted a team to work with. Even those amicable to his orders may find them confusing, since he tends towards unnecessary tacticool field lingo, often made up on the spot. This lingo is drawn from his understanding of his allies' strengths and weaknesses, and while some degree of innuendo reading may be needed, it turns out that by getting to know him more, his orders become more clear, despite sounding like nonsense he makes up on the fly.
If forced into a subordinate position via a superior officer taking charge, he is a touch begrudging, following orders how he sees fit, not necessarily accomadating for his commander's mental image. With some idea of this tendency in advance, and a decent understanding of his abilities, one can easily accommodate for his often malicious compliance, potentially to devastating extremes. Without understanding of his capabilities and feelings, however, his potential can easily be wasted thinking he's some two-bit defender unit.
Romantically, Yogi's disinterested in the idea of consistent dating, instead is only interested in tangible sensations, specifically what they feel like, holding hands or prolonged hugging and such. In fact, he has a touch-based fixation as a person and is regularly petting animals he shouldn't be petting, dragging his hands along walls, and so forth. He is lacking in terms of empathy and compassion, but it is not entirely gone; He was raised to think about others and how they would feel when regarding relics for example. This can translate somewhat with a creative type of person, say, somebody who writes poetry. He can certainly understand their art and the feelings that went into it, and by extension feel a connection through that. But like, in normal conversation? Dude has the tact and self awareness of a socially awkward mosquito in a haphephobia anonymous meeting.
Likes:
•Fellow Collectors: Yogi appreciates when people take good care of ancient rarities the likes of which Silver Wolf excavates.
•Ancient Ruins: The young man has a fondness for digging up lost civilizations, especially the sort what played with forces beyond their ken.
•Books: Paper containing knowledge, the crowning gold achievement of civilization.
Dislikes:
•Fire: Fire is a ruinous element which destroys everything it burns. While that itself is scary enough, Fire can even destroy ideas and knowledge, which is truly unacceptable.
•Willful Ignorance: There is nothing that gives Yogi a migraine like a person who speaks of matters they know less than nothing about and refuse to be educated on the matter. Bonus points if they hold such a demeanor out of spite for the popular opinions, with no additional substance.
•Insects: Bugs are a menace in every way and he hates them. The amount of mercy he possesses for a given bug is less than none. Few exceptions exist, if any.
Motivations:
•Amass Treasures: In a sense, Yogi seeks to collect achievements. The only respectable achievement regards the recovery of certain sorts of relics. Whether or not he keeps them matters little, as long as he can say he collected it, is enough.
•Mage Clout: It's not enough that he becomes a respected retriever of items from bygone ages, he must also achieve the nebulous goal of becoming a powerful and feared wizard as well.
•Front Page on Sorcerer Magazine: It seems to be a highly prestigious honor among the Wizards of the Legal and Independant Guilds, and thusly it only seems fitting to aspire for that prize among prizes.
Fears:
•Lions: Despite his hair being comparable to a lion's mane, Yogi is but a kitten in front of the king of the jungle. This extends to comical extremes when faced with, an Exceed with a lion mane still scaring him.
•Leather Jackets: No good reason behind this, people who wear the tanned hide of a bovine carcass unnerve him and trigger his fight or flight reflex, sometimes to comedic effect, sometime not as much
•The Number Three: Not thirteen, not twenty three, not six or nine, but three. He believes it to be a cursed number which brings misfortune, often throwing him off his game and weaving a self-fulfilling prophecy. Thirty Three is worse, and Three Hundred Thirty Three is even worse than that, but as long as one other number is attached to any number of threes, he believes it is 'grounded' and will not curse him. A few situations can force him to interact with the number three rather than avoid it, but mostly regarding a need to get rid of the third, or protect somebody else from the curse of three. Is known to join as a fourth wheel to a group of three to avoid them being a group of three.
