Brink was called to the spooky forest by Ebony the guild master of fairy tail he could think of only one reason for this. He was getting the chance to be promoted to a C rank mage. His hard work and skill where being noticed and hopefully by the end of this fairy tail would have grown a little stronger and as letting him gain a little more wisdom on what it was to truly be a Fairy. He saw Ebony standing in the distance she was holding some blue creature in her hand.

“Hey Master how are you doing? So why have you called me here today?” He stood ten feet away from her as he asked with his hands in his pocket. After asking however he looked up at the beautiful sky as the wind blow his newly found white hair in front of his face he wondered if Ebony would even recognize him for his eyes and hair had change sense the last time they meet.

"Well, you did show up. Welcome Brink! I have to say, I notice something... different about you, but I can't quite put my finger on it." Brink laughed at this and just stood there for a moment before he was going to responded then Ebony started to speak again so he had to hush up and listen for another moment.

"Anyway, you're probably wondering why you are here. I've seen great improvement in not only your magic but in your personal ability. So, now it's time for you to prove yourself. Are you ready to start your C rank exam?" Brink looked at her for a moment as she let go of the thing in her arms and it flew around him. While he was looking up at it wondering what it was he noticed she started to walk off so he followed her he couldn’t simply leave her alone plus this could be part of his exam.

“Yes I believe I am ready to prove myself even further.” He was still smiling but he had a serious tone in his voice knowing he might have to be ready for anything seeing as the last time he was here he beat up some bully goblins but he did find a tasty flower. However, this time it seemed it would be more important and would determain if he would get the promotion or title claim he wanted he was tired of being a D rank wizard seeing as no one would truly respect his abilities yet.

Brink was at first a little shocked to hear he had to fight his guild master. He felt this was a bit of feat meant for a stronger exam but he could not complain nor could he relax when facing such a strong opponent even if she said she would only use B rank spells.  He let out a sigh, as he really would hope not to have fought her early or better yet at all. He swiftly took in his surroundings it was a rather clear area to be in the forest. It seemed the area was cleared for some purpose maybe even leap did it seeing as it was a giant circle about half a mile in each direction where there were no trees rocks or even stubs.

“I guess this is because I kissed you on the hand? Well I guess we all have a price to pay for something like that and this is when you collect.” He let out a little laugh as he started to pull out his hands. He had to make a little relaxed comment to see if he could make an opening from her reaction so he could catch her by surprise and get a good starting hit off.  Before anything else could be said our even the next breath could be taken he swiftly put his hands together in the middle of his chest and started to cast 'solar flare' build a small ball of lightning but it took no time at all to explode causing a giant flare of light to erupt blinding whoever didn’t close their eyes. What ebony couldn’t see in that fraction of a second it took to cast one of his favorite spells was he closed his eyes immediately after casting it but really it was a well-planned act for from her angle it would seem as the he was simply blinking.  

“This is where it truly begins.” He whispered softly so that it would go straight in with the breeze that passed by he had no time to wait or plan he swiftly started to charge his next attack the ‘Black lightning sphere’. It took no time at all for this ball of energy to form in the palm of his hand and without hesitation he swiftly shunpoed into the air behind leap making no noise at all. The only thing you would hear a small spark that still sounded as the he was down below Ebony he took well advantage of this moment everything was nearly perfect. He swiftly thrusted his arm at Ebonys back so she would be consumed with the lightning and if all went well she would be blinded and stunned with this one simple attack. Even if she managed to figure everything out to counter attack he would shunpo back to the ground about twenty feet away so he would have a good enough distance to prepare another spell and defend himself if need be.

Brink was surprised yet happy his attack missed ebony. He was hoping to see someone of the guild masters talent however, he wondered how she knew to cover her eyes but it was of no matter he had to think more of how he would get back into a position of controlling the fight. However, before he could even finish thinking he heard Ebony call out some sort of spell and before he could give it full notice a giant purple dome came down and trapped both of them in it.

“Well this is interesting so now are we going on a romantic date under the purple light.” He smirked a little seeing as he had to have some fun or this would be a very dull day. Truly, this was just so she would not notice the lightning being built in his right hand but it really was to late regardless. Although suddenly he could feel his feet start to light off the ground but he was prepared for this and he smirked as she did because it was indeed going to affect his movement. Still he would adapt, as he would have done if he were on his own in battle with a prey he need back when he had no family. He then grabbed the lightning that formed in his hand and it formed a blade.

“This is my lightning blade don’t underestimate it.” He said as he strikes at the ground and pulled himself down seeing as now he had something to help him hold himself down with he then stood there thinking of his next move wonder what he could really do in this dome that seemed to control and effect his speed. Seeing as he felt himself moving a little sluggish to his normal way when he pulled himself down. He whispered under his breath, “This is going to get very interesting.” Letting at a little smile as he watched ebony’s every move.

Brink laughed as Ebony pointed out the obvious of his situation however it was no laughing matter seeing as he need to find a way out of this and fast. He thought about his options for a moment when he started to hear his opponent start a chant that could not really be heard but he did not need to hear it seeing as he could see the bright glowing light that was now flying toward his leg. He knew this would not be an easy dodge and he questioned if he could even dodge it but he was not going to let this get him down.

“Punishment after punishment I really should stop messing with you.” He laughed a little seeing as this was really entertaining him. He could not remember the last time he had a fight like this so he could not help but being smiling the whole time he enjoyed the feel of being in a battle and even when he was in an adapting situation like now he was happy and felt overjoyed he could finally experience this again. The thrill of fighting a stronger opponent, the sweat and muscle pain, and even the blood spread sometimes it was an amazing thrill.

“Well this going to hurt.” He thought of a way to dodge this attack but under the conditions, if he did dodge he would be in an even worse situation. He thought for a moment what would be the best situation then he got an idea seeing as he blade was going to disappear soon anyway. He could use it to block some of the attack so the damage would be reduced but he would still fake as if it had really done quite a bit so he could have an advantage. If she even gave him a second thought of what was to come next. He managed to block some of the damage from the attack and his extra duration from being a slayer truly would make this not hurt at all. However he had to play the part so as soon as the attack hit the sword disappeared and he took the little damage that would happened and he fell holding his leg but still on one knee.

"Brink, if I move either of these rings, I could slice off your head. You know you could die right? Will you stand and fight?" Her eyes had turned a stained red, her face serious. A look of determination on her eyes. "Will you fight?!" Brink slowly lifted his head laugh slightly he knew when he was beat and he knew when to give up both he learned the hard way while growing up but he wasn’t one for quitting. However, he felt a great sense of pride and accomplishment even though he couldn’t do much against his guild master he really didn’t expect anything different however he had a sly last attack for fun to see what her reaction time was really about. His hand where still on his leg and the light coming off the two rings would blind her from seeing him charging his last black lightning sphere so it would definitely hit there was only one mistake with her plot and that was creating a blind spot for him to use.

“Well Ebony I Am a man who knows when he has lost and one who knows when to throw in the towel. This is one of those moments it was however one of the funniest fights I have had in awhile and I enjoyed every bit of it but you can stop with the threatening tone really doesn’t work when you are so kind hearted.” Brink laughed a little as he said this but then the spell was cast and there was no time to escape or move for them. The black sphere surrounded both of them doing damage unless Ebony somehow found any to sense it before hand, which was nearly impossible. He only said one thing as the attack flashed around them.

“I know when to give up however if this was a real fight and you where threatening me or my guild I would not hesitate to try and take your life unlike today this was truly a great experience and I would love to spar with you again one day.” All you could see in the black abyss of lightning was his shining blue eyes that looked like the only light in what seemed endless darkness. He was happy he could spar with his guild master and this was his last will hopefully she would understand he would do anything for the guild however he knew restraint and when to take the lose and live to fight another day minus his little stunt at the end.

Brink was surprised to see Ebony cast some sort of spell that wasted to cover her body with stars. However, he had no time to admire what was going on he needed to swiftly act seeing as she wasn’t going to stand there all day letting him send attacks at her. He used his shunpo twice to put a good amount of distance between the two as he was tired of fighting and really wanted to know the reasoning behind this after he saw her smiling face and her let down her guard for the brief moment that it was.  

He heard her start to say something else but he was a little too far away to hear until she started to raise her voice.

"I'm kind-hearted? I'm putting up an act? Ha, you do not know me then. Love to spar with me again one day? Since when do you get to decide when you finish?!" her voice was cold, she hated it when people assumed things. "If you really are a Fairy Tail mage, you will tell me why. Tell me why you are one of us. If you can't even pass this, there is no use for you in Fairy Tail" she looked at him, shouting a little, and anger in her voice. "You could die. You will if you pick up your act and stop acting cocky. I am a Guildmaster you know, I have done this before, Just a flick of my wrist  I could, and will do. So, TELL ME, who are you?"

He was shocked at first but then he realized his tone might have made it seem as though he was being rather cocky but he was not going to make any more sly remarks. He was going to be straight forward and show why indeed he was in fairy tail even though it enraged him to hear her really question why he was a fairy tail member after he had opened up to the guild when he first joined.

With a shouting tone in his voice he could not hold back the angry he felt when those questions and statements where said.  He let out his opinion with a voice that he could feel the rage and somewhat sadness pour out of his body.

“I am here because I want a family, something to strive for, and above all else took have a better grasp on life! I AM STANDING HERE BEFORE YOU TO SHOW I AM WORTHY OF BEING HERE AN TO SHOW MY LOYALTY THERE IS NOTHING I WOULD NOT DO FOR MY GUILD AND I THOUGHT I HAD PROVEN THAT BEFORE NOW AND EVER DURING THIS EXAM! However, If you feel I am still not worth for this promotion and honor then tell me so I can continue this with all my heart and not let a hesitation come over my body. I am not being cocky I was being friend however I see that was a wasted effort in a serious time as this.”

He had no sense of his usual mellow or relaxed attitude now he was ready and alert any move would go noted any sounds would be heard he was serious now and nothing would break his focus he thought he may not lay a finger on his guild master but if he could prove he was ready for this then so be it he would drive himself mentally and physically till Ebony saw what he already knew he was ready.
