Name: Juliet A. Rothschild
Gender: Female
Age: 19
Birthday: June 18
Sexuality: Bisexual
Personality: A slightly younger version of Juliet might have been enchanted by beautiful people and equally beautiful words, but Juliet as of today is a disillusioned, pragmatic young woman. Although she claims to take words at face value, Juliet is constantly doubting the truth in any statement. Always on the look out for malicious intent, she is happy to intervene in any situation where she might be of some help. However observant she may be when it comes to the threat level in situations, she lacks empathy at times and cannot comprehend why people cannot simply get over emotional hurdles that may be troubling them. She does understand that the psyche is yet to be deciphered; Juliet remains troubled by her own inability to completely disconnect from needless sentiments.
That is not to say that Juliet is a robotic individual only focused on interpreting peoples' worth in the amount of work they can accomplish within a given period of time. Rather, Juliet understands the value of passion and tenderness. She treasures humanity. However, it doesn't change the fact that feelings can often be troublesome and only cloud one's head. On the battlefield, Juliet strives to separate herself from her overthinking consciousness. Between maintaining a high standard and not allowing herself to become an unseeing, apathetic robot without any understanding of what it means to be human, versus completely cutting out ardor, spirit, and soul, Juliet would always choose the former. Regardless, even if it is a difficult balance to hold onto, she believes such an equilibrium to be entirely possible.
Both outside of battle and during conflict, Juliet puts on a good front for those she considers to have a need to be protected. This includes civilians, children etc. Putting on a front is a necessity in certain situations, but Juliet loathes doing it for long. Furthermore, she is a disaster at it, most of the time. She can be patient in appearance when dealing with people who are slow to understand to spring into action, but in reality, Juliet is high strung and dislikes to be kept around waiting. Guard duty is a difficulty for her, since even though she is constantly vigilant, the anxiety of waiting around for something to happen can negatively impact her mental health.
As a whole, Juliet can take orders well, and she is able to put aside any disagreements to work for a common cause. Should her unanswered questions be crucial or call the motivations of her leaders into question, though, Juliet would not hesitate in taking a stand. Her beliefs are one thing she cannot willingly compromise on. Also, if she were to assess a situation and discover it to be more dangerous or different than originally anticipated, she would not stand by idly and watch her fellow comrades walk into a trap without trying to do something about it, first.
Despite her desire to be clear, concise, and straight to the point, Juliet struggles with speech sometimes. Her ability to express herself is hindered by her preference for action rather than words. Even though she is all for peace as opposed to battle, she finds herself at a loss when it comes to communicating how she feels. Diplomatic negotiations are quite different and much more straight forward than attempting to verbalize her own emotions and inclinations. For this reason, Juliet is relieved by those who seem to understand perfectly what she is thinking without requiring for her to spell it out for them. Happiness at not having to explain herself should not be confused with laziness. If someone were to give an inaccurate summary of her emotions, the part of Juliet that screams for the truth to be told would be forced to speak up, no matter how hard it might be.
Likes:
- Efficiency: If it can be done in one step, why do it in four? Juliet views efficacy as the end all and be all. To achieve her goals in the quickest way possible, while maintaining a high degree of excellence and quality in her own actions, the only choice is to focus on maximization. Waste not, want not. She has no time to spend dilly dallying around playing when she could be accomplishing.
- Board Games: When Juliet does get a bit of spare time to herself, she enjoys strategy games as well as ones of chance. Something is to be said for having a match between friends, testing out new approaches and discussing plans of action with a similar soul. In addition, Juliet has a weakness for checkers above all else, even chess.
- Technology: Being a person not big on tradition, Juliet is thrilled by electronics and machines of all kinds. Be it something as simple as a mechanical pencil to color changing lacrima lights to the latest warship designs, she is fascinated by the boundless possibilities that come with improving technology. For these reasons, her goals include supporting research.
- Bears: From when she was a little girl, given a teddy bear for her fourth birthday, bears have always held a special place in Juliet's heart. It was a seemingly random bear attack that allowed her to change her fate, after all. Discounting her inability to formally communicate to them using language, Juliet has a special connection with bears that allows her to express her thoughts and desires and understand theirs in return, without explicit verbalization.
Dislikes:
- Messiness: With chaos comes confusion. Juliet prefers situations to be clear and easy to decipher; a lack of order only extends the time it takes for work to be done. Because of this, she is constantly organizing various parts of her life and day-to-day in order to support the most capable lifestyle possible.
- Dancing: At times, it can be a fun diversion, but Juliet sees no need for diversions. In her opinion, there are much better ways for one to expression themselves. Even though dance is an apt medium through flexibility, fluidity, and power can be trained, Juliet is not fond of the activity. Overall, the flashiness and showiness, even in subtle styles, is meant for performance, a concept of distaste for her.
- Attention: Some heroes want to be revered; Juliet would rather stay in the background, solidly supporting those in the spotlight. It would not be inaccurate to say she feels uncomfortable with too many eyes on her, despite having been raised to be seen and act as a figurehead.
- Drinking: Allowing oneself to be inebriated is the first step to failure. By consuming alcohol and incapacitating herself, she would simply be asking to be the target of an attack. Juliet finds that the best way to keep herself and others safe is by not partaking in the consumption of mind and mood altering substances. As a whole, she also simply does not enjoy the feeling of letting go of control.
Motivations:
- Justice: The absence of morality is a joke for those who are lazy and nihilistic. In the case of the majority of people, there is a moral compass that guides one's actions. Juliet feels strongly about hers and will do everything she can to achieve justice as specified in her own code.
- Food: As coldly as she might act on the outside, Juliet can become desperate when it comes to the possibility of a meal. The easiest way to attract her attention on a surface level is to offer a reward in the form of something edible.
- Corruption: Among the wicked concerns is, in Juliet's opinion, corruption. Those who the general populace trusts to perform a task for the greater good and uplifting of a group are held to the highest standard. When they cannot perform properly and in fact become parasitic, detrimental to society, they must be cleansed.
- Safety: Juliet seeks a world in which the innocent can live happily and safely, without being touched by any evil. While she understands that this is a pipe fantasy, that does not prevent her from working toward it. Even if the journey is endless, there is progress to be made.
Fears:
- Imprisonment: As a result of a negative experience in her past, Juliet has an aversion to chains and seeing anyone or anything in them. Even though she dislikes deviating from her plans, she will even occasionally go out of her way to free someone from bondage. With some exceptions, living things do not deserve to exist in slavery. If she herself were to be locked up and treated as a captive, it would be devastating.
- Wasting Time: She worries that one day, she will wake only to discover that she has wasted away all the years of her life doing nothing. On a similar note, while she is not afraid of death in of itself, she is afraid of dying unfulfilled, without making an impact on the world or accomplishing her goals.
- Gods: Despite her insistence that no deity can help humanity, only people themselves, Juliet has a healthy fear of divine entities. While she may not respect them wholly, she understands that their power must be considered.
- Needles: Also courtesy of a few unpleasant encounters with needles in her history, Juliet dislikes them, as a rule. She refuses to be poked or prodded. In her perfect world, shots are simply a nonoccurence. There are ways for her to overcome the fear when required, but it takes a lot of building up to it and convincing herself it is absolutely necessary.
