-The border of Sin, early afternoon-
Wearing her traveling outfit of navy blue long-sleeved t-shirt with navy blue cargo pants and black boots plus a full hydration pack of water and a backpack of food and other supplies on her back, Diana had finally made it to Sin. It had been quite the trick to get to Sin without traveling through Pergrande, a country which was infamously hostile to mages no matter what their alignment was. However, Diana had managed to pull it off and was now standing outside the border wall while keeping a watch out for both Pergrande's famous anti-mage army and and any of Sin's innumerable denizens that may have slipped through a hole in the wall... or creatures that may have been let out by previous travelers who forgot to close a gate behind them. The sky was almost red, the land was barren and bereft of any grass or natural growth, and there was an overwhelming sense of dread that emanated from beyond the wall. Dark magic infused the region; that would make traveling in Sin a test of one's courage as well as a test of one's fighting ability.
Diana recalled that Sin had been turned into a no-man's-land due to an event from centuries ago. When Pergrande had finished exiling all the mages it could not kill, the surviving mages all gathered in the region that would become Sin and combined their magic to summon an army of monsters that was to be directed towards Pergrande in an act of revenge. However, the summoned army proved to be beyond the control of the vengeful mages and murdered them all, turning Sin into the inhospitable wasteland it was known as today. The wall was erected by Pergrande to keep the monsters at bay; even with the wall the bulk of Pergrande's army was required to keep the creatures out of Pergrande.
Diana surveyed the formidable-looking barrier and thought about her supply situation. Everything beyond that wall would be hostile and there was no chance of a supply drop from Pergrande, so unless she happened to find some supplies on the bodies of deceased explorers Diana had no reason to expect a re-supply within the borders of Sin. Therefore she had come prepared with enough food, water, and other supplies to last the length of the trip. At least she thought she had packed enough for the trip... Diana knew from experience that conditions could change in an instant and that supplies that once seemed to be adequate just might not be enough. It would have to be enough because she could not exactly traipse into Pergrande to pick up anything she had failed to pack before leaving home.
Feeling the wind pick up a little, Diana took a deep breath and waited for her job partner, a woman named Janet Cinderfeild, to arrive. Hopefully Janet could avoid the anti-mage army of Pergrande and the other hazards on the road to Sin and make it here intact. Diana had never met Janet before today and had no idea what her partner could do... today she would find out what Janet was capable of when they explored Sin.
