“Ambassador Seralson will see you now.”
Mythal glanced up at the secretary quickly, catching her warm and smiling face before she turned and gestured towards the door. The Darkness King let out a soft sigh and turned to look at Serilda, finding a foundation for confidence in her eyes when he was lacking. Even with it, there was still a trepidation in his gut – butterflies that fluttered about in panic. He took only a moment before he rose to his feet and started through the doors.
He knew this meeting was coming. After everything that had happened with the psycho woman and her successful assassination, there was bound to be an investigation. Every person was interviewed time and time again, asked for their version of the story. He hadn’t been privy to any of the meetings or heard any chatter from the people that had survived long enough to confess what they had seen so he was going in blind. But eventually the investigation had reached its conclusion and it was time for Mythal to come and hear the results. The only answers he was allowed to give were in the form of an official report so… this was the first time he was going to hear or talk to anyone.
The Magic Council had summoned him and Serilda, which led him to believe the news was going to be bad. If they had merely brought him, they would most likely give him what equated to a slap on the wrist and let him go. But she was his superior and if they wanted her there, then there was a good chance that punishment was about to be handed down. Who knew, after all the things he’d done in his life, he would be punished for trying to take down a killer? It was a morbid sense of irony that he would have laughed at if he were in better spirits.
The Council chambers were empty, which was a bit shocking in its own right. He’d actually been kind of hoping to see the faces of the men and women who made decisions for Fiore. But alas there was only one other person in the room besides himself and Serilda – a man of a mysterious nature. He stood just about Mythal’s height and most likely had a similar build, though you couldn’t tell by the outfit he had chosen. A black robe covered almost the entirety of his body, tied together over his chest and staying close together all the way down to the floor. It parted up near his chest but only enough to let the white garment beneath poke out in the form of two collars. A clear white bandana covered the lower half of his face while an intricate black and gold mask hid the rest, revealing only his deep chocolate eyes. Dark green hair hung out from beneath the turban he sported, framing his face and hanging out the back end to rest against his shoulders. He stood there waiting for them as they approached, holding onto an onyx black staff that obviously doubled as a magical instrument. The head of it was jagged and pointed, with runic symbols inlaid on the flat sides with gold.
As the couple came to a stop before him, he glanced between the two of them slowly. “General Ragnos, Field Marshall Sinclair,” he said, giving them each a small nod.
“Shall we begin?”
