Minato woke to the gentle kiss of the breeze upon his cheeks and the warmth that the sun had basked upon him. Opening his eyes ever so slowly, he found himself staring at the clear azure sky that spanned endlessly across the horizon. It took him much effort to sit up, let alone concentrate on where he was at that very instance. Shifting his gaze from one side to the other, he was finally able to deduce where he was. A pang of nostalgia hit Minato; for it was the rooftop of the Sabertooth Guildhall. It had been several years since he had last been on the rooftops of the Guildhall. It felt as if nothing about the guild had changed, except for the fact that back in the glory days, Sabertooth was a guild of mercenaries and sell-swords. Now, Sabertooth was a guild inhabited by knights and honorable Magi alike. Deciding not to ponder about the situation of Sabertooth at that moment, Minato jumped down and entered through the Guild Halls.
He eyed the individuals in the room, the placement of the furniture, and the Job Request board that was once covered in requests. Minato walked up the the Job Request board, smiling as he saw that some new job requests had been posted in front of the yellow, wrinkled, and weathered sheets of paper that reminded him so evocatively of the past. Skimming over many requests, Minato decided to pick one out at random. Having made that decision, the man closed his eyes and propelled his finger at the board.
'SMACK'
The sound echoed across the room and caused every Guild Member to look towards the direction of the Job Request Board. Minato did not care much about the unsteady glares that his Guildmates gave him, he only cared about the sheet of paper that his index finger had landed so haphazardly upon.
"We been having some trouble by these pair of annoying whipper-snappers, a goblin and a Vulcan who keep terrorizing and being a general nuisance at our train tracks, but now they just went ahead and blocked the tracks with a great old tree! They say we give 'em 100 pies and 100 tubs of sherbet or they'll never move the tree! Those rascals are holding up the trains and closed our station! Go over there and teach 'em a lesson, so we can get things moving again!"- Station Controller Albert.
"Clover Town eh?" said Minato with a slight grin. He remembered the last time he was there. It had been the town where he had found his first love, Eternia. Nonetheless, Minato knew he could not dabble within matters of the past; he stared in a nonchalant manner towards his Guildmates as he activated his Portal Stone, a souvenir from his days on the Magic Council. As a bright white light started to envelop him, Minato closed his eyes and waited for the rift between space and time to carry him to his destination.
'Whoosh'
The bright white light slowly faded away as Minato started to open his eyes. He had arrived at a local inn that was located just to the left of the Clover Town Train Station. Minato strode towards the entrance of the Clover Town Train Station, nodding at people that passed by and gawked.
"That's Minato! The Ex-Magic Council member! HI MINATO!!!!!" yelled a girl from the sidewalk.
"Is that Minato? The Wizard Saint #6? What in the world could he be doing here?" gasped a man from the opposite side of the street.
"Oh my lord! It's Minato! Take me with you wherever you go Milord! I want to be with your forever!" squealed another female from the sidelines.
"I heard he is a monster. He was the one that decimated the Fairy Tail Guildhall right?" yelled a woman from the balcony of her house.
Minato paid no attention to what any of the common-folk were saying. He simply kept nodding and walking towards his destination. As if fate had arranged for the meeting of two people, Minato saw Hikari Shirokawa, the charming young girl that he had met when she introduced herself in the Sabertooth Guildhall days ago, slouched against a tree, fast asleep. Deciding that it would be much too boring to complete the job by himself even though he was perfectly capable of doing it, Minato approached the sleepy beauty and poked her.
"Hey Hikari~Chan, I'm in town to complete a mission and.... I was wondering.... if you.... could.... I mean... if you would..... like to go...... on the mission.... with....me?" stuttered Minato. It felt weird, Minato had never stuttered before when he asked a girl any sort of question. Why was he stuttering now? Perhaps the answer would come in time, but for now, Minato focused upon the now woken girl, whose face was as beautiful as a thousand stars and as gorgeous as a dove.
