He had arrived at the testing grounds. Lord and behold, his test was to clean a facility of animals.. that’s just great he thought to himself. He had done this when he was at D rank and had cleaned the Silver Wolf’s base in the Phoenix Mountains. Just when he thought that the small mud tracks and smell would be the only job for him. To his left he spotted fences that came from a hippo and boy was it big. He sighed to himself deeply, why must he always get the worst job.
Well there was no sense just standing around, someone had to do it so he was fine with it. After cleaning most of the filth which took about two hours of a deep scrub. He heard some noises nearby and that of whimpering. It appeared that it came from a nearby barn shed and upon opening the doors, he saw the frighten adult wolf cower to the corner. He walked towards the beast and kneeled before it.
“What are you doing here friend? Your friends had ditched you?”
This wolf was rather different than all of the rest he had ever met. First and foremost, he wasn’t whimpering, but giving a warning to all that they shouldn’t go near him. Expecting the barn around him, he noticed the blood stains of wolves and their bodies. These wolves were more much stronger and bigger than the wolf before him.
He refocused his attention back at the wolf. He took a crouch walk towards him. When he did that, the wolf’s piercing blue eyes had turned red. He felt a strange aura coming off him. Was this the warning that the others had failed to realize before he struck? He sent his hand behind his back and to his pouch. The wolf became agitated by the movement and began to howl at him. With his free hand he had placed it in a calming stop sign like fashion.
“Now hold on their pal. I am not going to hurt you...”
The wolf clearly didn’t trust him and was ready to fight him at a moments notice. Yagi quickly grabbed the wolf pelts food in which he had fed most wolves he had tamed before. The wolf noticed the treats and still didn’t trust him. Yagi then placed some of the food in front of him and just an arm reach away from him. The wolf still gave him a glare of anger. Yagi then proceeded to grab one of the pelts from the ground and started to eat it.
This had calmed the wolf’s nerves and going from a crouching position to an Indian cross style of sitting. He had both his hands on his knees. The wolf started to slowly approach the food, pawing at it and still keeping his gaze at Yagi. After showing no sign of deception and giving the wolf a gentle smile, the wolf started to consume the pelts and clearly enjoyed it. He wanted more and that was clear. So Yagi pulled out the entire remain of the pelts over to the wolf. The wolf ate it so fast that he was now panting with joy. However that joy quickly turned south as two bigger wolves had now entered the barn. They immediately gave no warning or hesitation, running quickly towards the wolf that had killed their friends.
Yagi had no time to properly defend the both of them. So he immediately rose to his feet and showed his back to the wolves. They leaped trying to past Yagi but they bit down on both his forearms with a strong grip. He had successfully blocked them from proceeding. He looked to his new found friend and yelled.
“Get out of here!”
The wolf scattered away and through an already broken window. All Yagi could do was smile as he twirled himself in a spinning position, causing the two wolves to let go and bashing against the walls of the barn. They immediately rose up afterwards. Trying to corner him against the wall and it was working. He started to walk backwards and before he could even realize it, he had stumbled and fell down against a small rock that was behind him. It was more than enough time for one of the wolves to jump on him. Now holding onto the mouth of the wolf trying to bite at his fast. His forearms and now hands were bleeding.
The other wolf was now biting down at his leg. The fierce struggle was real and it was now more than enough for the other wolf to bite down on Yagi’s hand. The pain was sharp. Coming right out of the broken window in which he had left, the wolf he had aided had came back. Tackling the wolf that was mounted on him, he started to bite down on his neck. Essentially injuring him greatly. Before the wolf who had stopped biting his leg could do anything else. The wolf he had saved started to pumped up and become much huger and stronger than before. The two wolves who had witness this had ran away. Yagi’s eyes had simply fell into shock.
What the hell was this wolf and how strong was he... the wolf then walked over to Yagi, licking his wounds. The pain he had felt on his hands and then on his leg had vanished. Whoever this wolf was, clearly had powers that Yagi had never seen before. He had petted this wolf, smiling at him and finishing the cleaning job in no time. After he had finished the exam and turned it in. The proctor looked at the wolf he had acquired.
“Do you have any idea what kind of wolf that is...”
Yagi looked to the proctor confused, scratching the back of his head.
“No idea.. why...”
The proctor smiled and folded his arms across his chest.
“That wolf comes from the unknown lands. Where powerful creatures are born. Where on earth did you find that?”
Yagi smirked and placed both his hands on his waist.
“I found him in the barn.”
The proctor laughed and giving him his stamp of approval.
“Well there you go. You are officially a B rank. The missions you go on now won’t be child’s play. And with your wolf friend over there. I don’t think you will have any trouble at all.”
Yagi nodded, walking away with the approval papers and heading off to his next adventure with his wolf.
