Mercenaries! (Glenn & Aria)

The echoes of a train’s hoot could be heard in the outskirts of a small village,which was near to the Royal Castle.The small station was not packed with humans,but there were still some of them waiting for the next available train to catch up with,probably going to work somewhere far.Of course though,it would be tiring to go to work at somewhere far daily regardless of going there by foot,or by any transportation means.It’s tiring either way.The ‘choo-choo!’ sound of the newly arrived train alerts the people around the station.Some rushed to get inside,and some sighed upon finding out that it wasn’t the train they’re supposed to get on.There were also busy businessman-like people,looking at his wristwatch every single 5 seconds.Is time that golden?If it is,why waste something that could make you rich?Maybe the man is living up with the saying ‘time is gold’.Well,it is unarguable that time is really precious.You treasure every good moments you have with them.But there also comes times when time is just a pain on a noble man’s butt.It hurts at times,and that it forces bad memories to carve deep scars on a person’s precious heart.

But by then,a black cat emerged out of one of the train’s opening doors.It held a job request flyer firmly on its mouth,making sure it won’t fly away from it.The cat’s lustrous black fur shone under the sun’s glittering radiant light,that also brought to the Earth heat.The steps the cat arranged was not dazzling,as it looked like a regular cat’s instead.Yeah,the cat looks like your average domestic feline,nothing interesting,yet nothing to hate about.As it gets closer to a bench in the station,it leapt onto it.The black feline then with much ease,set itself in a sitting position,with the flyer still on its mouth’s grasp.It looked like it’s waiting for someone,its head turning left and right every 3 minutes.Maybe the cat is actually a mage,and that it’s wanting to take a job.Well,that would be ridiculous and against the logic then.Or so one of the men at the station thought of the cat,giggling at the thought which he had found funny.Unknown to the man,it might be the truth,afterall,but who knows?The world is just too unpredictable.

A young girl with green hair wearing a mask stepped of the train and into the stations platform. Though some people turned to have a second glance at her, it was not as bad as before. She wore a long flowing cerulean gown that highlights her firm arm, sides and lower back. It was a sleeves, its what other would call a tube gown. The mask she had on also complemented her dress. The white shiny surface encrusted with gems and lines with precious metals made her look regal. And that was the reason why some passers by are turning back for a second glance. She looked like she was going to attend a ball. "Well at least this is better than being gawked at because I look strange and eccentric." she thought as she proceeded to the station. She was suppose to meet a colleague there, a fellow mage who took the same job. Problem was, she didnt knew how he looks like.

Unsure how long she had to wait for her partner to arrive, she decided to sit down at a bench. Once settled down, she began to wait. Since she didnt knew how he would look like she thought it would be better to look for the thing that usually shows the mark of a mage, their emblem. So whenever a person passes by her or come to close she would scan their body for any tattoos. Sometimes even getting back creepy smiles and looks from the person she is looking at. Probably though she was checking them out. One even sat down next to her and blatantly hit on her. She was quick to dismiss him though, it wasnt that hard to play coy and get other men to take care of harassers. With a soft sigh she rested her chin on her arm and turned left. A man in a grey suite was looking at his gold watch. It seems she was not the only one waiting. Then her eyes wandered lower and lower until she saw something strange. A cat had a flier on its mouth. "Here kitty kitty. Come here kitty, I want to look what you got there."

The black cat’s wait continues.The wait was starting to get painful though,as its back hurts after staying in the sitting stance for too long. It would want to scratch its back if it could,but unfortunately though,its hinder legs are not build for such task.It didn’t work,even after it tried after all.As more people pass through,and more trains arrive and leave there was no sign of the person it was waiting.After waiting for so long,it started to think that all this waiting is beginning to turn ridiculous.It would’ve been already leaving if it wasn’t for its strong will to wait and high level of patience.As passers-by go to and fro its field of view,the glances it had to take started to hurt its neck.The turning on its head had really started taking a toll on it.Its tail stopped wiggling around too,showing a sign of interest lost.But the black cat realized it can’t possibly blame its partner for everything,as it understands that it might be hard to find a cat that looks like..a man?Well,on second thoughts,it was possible.Its head got heavier by the ticking seconds,and finally it changed its sturdy stance to a lying pose.It was tired,and it knew that itself.

The flyer,meanwhile sat by the cat’s firm grasp by its mouth.Later on it saw a girl,probably a mage too.She was beautifully dressed,with attractive masks and a nice dress on her.It would’ve complimented her,but unfortunately it couldn’t talk.Sighing,its tail wiggles around in a boring fashion as a sign that the wait shall continue.It realized that both the girl and itself had one thing in common;both are waiting for someone.The cat decided that it would leave the girl alone,as she might be waiting for someone else.After sights of the girl getting picked on and getting creepy smiles and all,the cat decided that it was time for the cat to scram.As it stood on its four legs to start leaving,the girl suddenly saw something interesting on it,which of course was the flyer.She called for the cat in a rather,usual way of humans to interact with felines.It sighed,but still approaching the girl to respect her call.The girl wanted to see what the flyer’s about,so it pounced onto the sitting girl’s lap and let go of the flyer.It put the flyer on her open hands,landing it nicely onto her palms.Then the cat froze,staring at the girl like how a spoiled domestic cat would do to its master.

The cat came closer to her and stared into her eyes. Funny, its seems there was a hint of intelligence behind those cute little eyes. The then cat dropped the piece of paper into her open hands and continued to stare at her. "Maybe its waiting for a treat or something." Luckily for the cat, she still had some left over biscuits from the trip. The dug some out from her purse, yes she brought a purse, where else would she stash her valuables and other unmentionables. There was no pocket in her dress and not to mention the black purse complements the color of her cerulean blue dress. Breaking some of the biscuit, the then placed it in front of the kitty hoping it would like the treat she just had offered it.

Once finished giving the treat to the cute and intelligent little kitty, she then turned her attention to the piece of paper the little cat had place upon her palms. Well what do you know. It was the same fliers that she had in her purse, the job flier for the temporary bodyguard duty. A high official in the royal castle had bee receiving a lot threats lately. Her wife fearing for his safety, secretly posted the job so that someone would protect him in the upcoming function going to be held in the royal castle. "Wow, you really are one smart kitty. I bet you are my partners pet. And I bet your master sent you here to let me know that he is already there and waiting for me." she said as she patted the cat on the head. "Alrighty then, lets get on a cab and be on out way." She said as she picked up the cat and got on one of the parked cabs waiting for customers. "Where to miss?" asked the driver. "To the royal castle. And step on it."

The cat started its steps,leading the girl as they move to the Royal Castle.It was a big one too.Its enormous,beautiful traditional designs could be traced by the naked eye even from the outskirts of the castle.Guess every person living in that small village would be amazed at the castle’s looks all the day they live.The black cat was a bit irritated at itself because the fact that if it would just move on itself to find the girl earlier,they wouldn’t be this late.But well,people make mistakes,and so does felines.It giggled at that thought,but of course it seemed weird to the ones that would saw it doing that.The black cat stopped giggling the moment it realized that,and had hoped that the girl,who was its partner didn’t see or notice its faint giggles.It kept its steps graceful and nicely arranged,all the while its tail keeps wagging its tail in rounds.Its sharp feline eyes never stopped looking at the usual busy view for all those poor villagers.They were busy running businesses,selling fish and vegetables.The kids,well they kept playing,seemingly careless.The cat recalled its memory as a child.Not as a kitty,but as a human child.Why?We would know that later on.

Living as a child had been the most wonderful moments that a person would want to keep staying in.It’s fine to be careless,and it’s fine to leave everything on other people.Who wouldn’t want that?Sighing,the cat answered its own answer with a nod.It turned its head around,wanting to check on the girl,whether she is catching up,or is being left behind.For some reasons,the cat hated that day,as much as it sometimes hate being itself;a black,lustrous cat.

Aria and the cat arrived at the place. But still no partner anywhere. Then she looked down on the black cat licking its paws. "Could it be that it was actually her partner? Then why doesn't it speak like other exceed does or sprout wings like most of them do." She stared and stared at it until started to walk on ahead, pausing a little bit just to wait or her to follow. "Alright, this is weird. Following the leads of a cat." Well she had stranger days but this was one of the strangest yet. They stopped when the man stationed at the gate's entrance asked for her name. "Its Aria Seyfried, but im not rally on the list." she paued a bit and leaned in to whisper something into the attendants ears "Im here for a job." The man gave him a knowing glance and then signaled a man in black suit to lead them the way.

They were ushered in at the back part of the castle by the security personnel. "Service entrance, figures..." Aria moaned. Then a man who looked intimidating appeared and spoke to her "So you are the mage her for the job. Wait arent there suppose to be two of you? Where is you partner?" With a silly expression on her face, she pouted her lips and then pointed it at the black cat below. "Is this some kind of joke? A high profile officials life is on the line. Now tell me where is your partner." Aria was at a loss so she did what she could do at that moment. She crouched down right next to the cat and said "Hey, I dont know how to explain this to him, if you have any way to convince him, this would be the time."

The cat and the girl were brought by a man in black to the back door of the nicely-built castle.But the cat really wondered if they’re supposed to be entering from the back door.It sort of looked like some kind of abasement for the two of them.”Why must the back door?High profiles..” The black feline sighed,the thought flowing straight into his center of mind like bent less river.The man had get into a little argument,saying that bringing a cat to a job isn’t funny,and that he demands the girl to tell him about her partner’s whereabouts.”Why?Can’t a cat go for a mission?Discrimination at its best.” With a slight annoyance the cat turned its glance towards the man,still demanding for the second mage’s whereabouts.Finally the girl decided to let the cat take over for the explanation.Whilst she bend down squatting next to the cat for some discussion,the cat simply nodded with hopes that she would understand the cat’s simple answer.

Again,with slight annoyance upon the filthy discrimination he could sense in the atmosphere,the black feline reveals one of its claws hidden in its fluffy paws.Then with a sigh,the cat started to scribble something onto the soft ground,its claws forming carves of letters on the natural paper of the cat’s.After a few scratches here and there,the cat was finally done.Moving away,the cat showed what it doodled,or more precisely,scribbled.It was a simple arrangements of letters saying ‘I AM HER PARTNER’ upon reading.The man was shocked,and thought the cat was too puny for a bodyguarding mission.Reluctantly,the man opened the back door,and let the two eager mages in with a sigh.”Well,that was easy.” As it spoke through its feline mind,the cat pounced onto the girl’s head using its hind legs as supporters.The cat decided that it was time for it to start slacking off,settling down on the girl’s head whilst intending to leave the talking to her.It would get off,anyways if she didn’t like it.

She couldnt believe that it worked. They got through the head security and they are on their way inside. But before that her partner decided that it was a good time to take a nap, and of all places on her head. No use in getting angry, she's sure it looks adorable when it sleeping so she will let this one slip by. Her thought were yanked back to reality when the head security guy spoke "Alright, the plan is for you guys to mingle in as guest..." the he looked at the black cat resting on her head, a bead of sweat formed on he forehead and he continued his sentence "and her pet. " His face then turned back to his serious and grumpy look as he continued his speech "You are you stay on low profile but always be on alert and always be within reach of the Official. He has to make it trough this party unscathed you got me?"

The man then took out photos from his pocket. "This is the group you are to watch out for." She wanted to say that the picture isnt rally doing any good since all the men were wearing masks but she just look at him and raised her eyebrow. "Uhhh turn over to the next photo, a tattoo of a blue rose is the only mark that identifies them as hostiles, so be careful for you'll be riding blind on this mission." the man said as they finally reached the entrance to the promenade. "Oh and one more thing, try not to enjoy too much." then the wide door swung open and they were blasted by the sound or people gossiping and the music b eing played by the band.

Lucky for the lazy black cat,its partner had given it permission to stay on her head.”Hm..this human’s nice.” As it slowly closed its eyes,the cat used the girl’s hair as a comfort cushion.It was as cozy as a bed,and the cat liked it.Its partner’s graceful steps were like rockings to the cat.It slowly put the black feline to sleep.And after a few steps,the cat finally gave in to the attacking drowsiness.It was very nice sleeping on the girl’s head,and the cat didn’t want to leave it if possible.Enjoying its nap,the cat used its sharp ears to listen to the man’s important blabbery,all while having its eyes closed.”Hm..guard..mask..blue rose..hmm…blah..blah..” The cat only listened to the man’s keywords,keeping all in its mind.The cat thought it would be useless to hear through all the man’s words,as he kept panicking at the fact that a cat is doing this mission.”Uh,nice.I’m just a pet.” The cat complained at its disguise,which was unluckily just a mere pet sitting on a girl’s head.Can’t it be something higher in class?A prince,maybe? But the cat knew and understood the fact that it only looked like a mere cat,no more no less.

As the big doors opened,the cat’s peaceful nap got canceled by the noise.There were many people attending the ‘small’ party the castle is having.”So many richies…” Sighing,the cat pounced off the girl’s head and started to pounce onto higher grounds.It thought that it would possibly be easier to look for the officer on high grounds,all the whilst setting its eyes to a bunch of people who would’ve a blue rose tattoo on them.This mission would be easy,as the cat assumed.But of course,even the easiest mission can be failed.Sighing,the cat continued to pounce onto higher grounds,until it almost reached the ceiling.The cat had left the girl behind,hoping she would do her part to help make this mission easier.

While her partner went on ahead, Aria stay behind. She surveyed the surrounding. The castle's receiving area was big, it can house up to a hundred guests if needed, though for this occasion there were probably fifty to seventy people on the lobby. Some were by the buffet table, some were on the dance floor waltzing while the official, his wife and some of his close confidants were on the small platform guarded by a bunch men in black suits. As she really cant risk removing her mask she decided to stay away from the buffet table and joined the throng of people dancing on the floor.

It was long when men started to look her way, they were intrigued, she was the only girl who wore a mask. They probably wondered if the mask hides a beauty or a beast. One by one they asked for a dance, seeing no harm may come from dancing, she entertained them, much to their delight. I mean yeah there was a chance that the face may turn out to be what they expected but her lithe body and smooth and alabaster skin was enough to draw them in, not to mention her long green exotic hair and curves at the right places, they were practically drooling. Soon men were lined up just to have a dance with her, she had to admit that she kind of enjoyed the attention she got and lost track of her goal. She was reminded harshly when she noticed that her partner was nowhere to be found. She excused herself from her current partner and went in search for her real partner.

In her search for him she found herself by the balcony. There she saw everything happening below. No matter where she looked she found no black cat. "Where could that cat have gone." Then perhaps by chance, she spotted a suspicious looking person also by the balcony eying the chandelier right above the stage where the official was. Whats more fishy is, they quickly retreated away from the balcony when she saw him."Assasins?"

Stalking around looking for Markus,the cat leapt from a platform to another using its strong hinder legs.”Hm..Pretty sure he’s here somewhere…” As its feline eyes continued searching for a person in a huge sea of people,the thought that it had to leave its partner for him really annoys it.”I should’ve stayed on her head and continued the nap..” Sighing,a couple of rich ladies squealed as it passed through their long ground-reaching expanding skirt like thingy.It went below them,without any perverse intention.”Sorry ladies,looks like it was the only way around.” Letting out a catty giggle,the black ball of fur continued hopping around,looking for its arrogant client.The cat continued its long set of jumps,which looked like freestyle walks.

The fact that its feline body makes it easier to pass through the surroundings really ease the cat’s feelings.It would’ve got pissed off and just shout out its client’s name if it was in its human form.Waves of people walking here and then endangers its tail as they might step on it.”Ugh,mind my tail!” the complaints flew around its train of thoughts as it tried to find its way through the people.It was hard,but luckily it managed to coupe with the surroundings.Finally,it had found the target.Surprisingly to it,Markus was indeed a good looking man,with lean and tall body.”I expected him to become a naggy braggy fat pouch of potato.But this is better.” The cat intended to chuckle itself on its thought,but the intention was killed.It saw two men,which of course,looked suspicious approaching Markus. “Wait..those two..” It observed the two carefully,and a struck of shock hit it.There they were,on their palms.”Blue roses!” The cat’s adrenaline mode automatically activated itself,the cat jumping around to reach low grounds.The need for speed makes each of its movement count,and it tried its best not to waste time.

Immediately upon reaching the low grounds,it turned into a human,lean and tall.With his blonde hair and ash mauve eyes,the former cat used his spell to move as fast as lightning.”White Art : Meteor Sprint!” The man shouted the spell’s name loudly in his mind,as he moved towards the two men.With a swift,unseeable movements,the two men suddenly got flung out of the buildings.They got themselves up with a confused face,and the man emerged in front of them.”I’m Takumi.And I shall stop you.” Luckily enough,the men approached Markus from his back,so he would probably failed to notice them and Takumi’s at the nick of time’s movements.The men took out their weapons,as expected and started to rush towards the calm and relaxed Takumi.

'Monster Dice' :

Aria followed the shady man as he made a right turn into the castles right wing. To her surprise, the man had friends. "Hey you, what are you doing here? Your not suppose to be here. Guests are only allowed on the first floor." Aria feigned innocence and said "Oh I was just looking for the ladies room. You know to freshen up a bit." Then she made a gesture that she's wiping the sweat off her forehead. "Ohhh right, im wearing a mask." To divert their attention she then turned the questions at them "What about you? If what you say is true, then you guys shouldnt be up here either." There was a smirk on her face as she made a condescending finger point at them. "You guys dont exactly like the guys roaming around downstairs."

"Well uhhh..." stuttered one of the men then he pushed one of his comrades forward to answer for him. The man scratched his head as if thinking for an answer, and when he did his sleeve rolled up a bit and it revealed the insignia of the assasins guild there were told to watch out for. The mans face lit up and said in a very confident voice "You see, were a special undercover unit tasked to watch out for the boss. And were here so people like you dont go wandering around." She nodded "Fair enough, but can you gents escort me to the bathroom, I was told there is one over there." She let the strap of her dress fall down a bit exposing her exquisite alabaster skin. The men all went googly eyed and answered in chorus "Sure, were sure the boss will not be in any danger anytime soon. So we an still kill time."

The remark made the man confirms it. They must have other companions waiting by. This is a good chance t o cut their number in half.

'Monster Dice' :

"Hiyarrghh!!" With such annoying noises,the two barging men foolishly attacked Takumi by their bats.There was of course,no way in the world they could touch the tall blonde man with such low standard weapon.”Tch.Bats?” Takumi sounded like he was looking down on the weapons,but actually he wasn’t.Well,at least he was trying his best to avoid such foolish underestimating thoughts.Regardless the weapon’s standard,Takumi prepared to defend himself anyways.The first man swung his bat with much force,the swing looked dangerous and all.But comically though,eventhough Takumi could defend himself against him,the man suddenly trip over a banana skin,thus making him slide onto the ground after a painful fall.

Ignoring the nearly laughable comical event,Takumi turned his focus on the second man’s strike which was a nice sweep onto Takumi’s knee.This time,it was outright dangerous to get hit by,as it might bring difficulties to the blonde later.Staying calm and relaxed,Takumi made a bunny hop on his standing spot which made the sweep a miss.Without wanting to waste the good midair opportunity,Takumi launched his leg for a nice sweep onto the second man’s head.Luckily though,the man was so amazed and all by Takumi’s swift movement,he didn’t even had the time to react on the sudden counterattack.The sweep brought the second man down eating the dust.Whilst the party continued with such beautiful rhythm and lines of classics,outdoors Takumi was,fighting the menacing two assassins.They probably,no,surely brought backups with them,so it wouldn’t be surprising to find more of these hired scumbags later.For right now,Takumi intended to focus on the first man,which looked annoyed after his funny fall.Without any warning,the man rushed towards Takumi,to which he sighed again.”When will they learn?”

When the reached for the ladies room she bid the men to wait for her. She then shifted into ghost form and sneaked out the bathroom. Once she's out she changed back into her human form. Closing her eyes she whispered something inaudible and soon a green magic circle appeared below her. A light of eerie green covered her whole body, even the dagger she took out from her purse was bathed in the green light. With one swift motion she was able to deliver a strike to the man farthest from the group. The dagger went to his side, she used her free hand to cover the man's mouth to prevent him from screaming. Then the man was out due to the bleeding. Meanwhile by the door the others had no clue as tho what fate their ally had fallen too.

Without hesitation, she boldly attacked the rest. Her execution was flawless, it took just a few seconds for her to slit their throats. The three men by the door must have noticed for they moved instinctively away from her.They sized her up, they werent expecting such a delicate looking lady capable of doing such feats. "Must be fools luck!" The man in the middle signaled for the two to attack her simultaneously. They raced at her at full speed, with their brazen knuckle they punched her. But it wasnt her, it was an after image, she appeared behind them and delivered blows at the back of their head. They fell down, but still managed to get up. Well that's get for underestimating her. She was much stronger than any of them anticipated.

"Let retreat for now!" The other two nodded and dashed away. "No you wont." Aria tough as she went after them.

The rushing man came at him at average speed.Too slow for Takumi,actually.He was unlucky,having to waste his useful spell,which was the Meteor Sprint on this kind of people.It was a reckless charge,and dashing away from them would be utterly plain and boring.Takumi decided that he wouldn’t even buldge,using his skills and abilities in martial arts to dodge all the man’s attacks.The first swing was fast,but too bad Takumi’s eyes could still catch up on it.With a simple duck,Takumi angered the man for the abasing movement he did.”You trying to look down on me,eh!?” Angry and annoyed,slightly frustrated the man launched another reckless strike.The downward swing was too easy for the blonde haired mage to evade.With a simple sidestep,the danger went by,passing without even breaking Takumi’s sweat.Sighing,Takumi wonders if this is the only threat he and his gorgeous partner would be facing that day.

Takumi backed away,letting the man catch his own breath rather than letting Takumi himself catch his own.The moves were slow and too predictable,making him as boring as a frightened running rat.Surprisingly,the man did not tend to run away,retreating or anything.He stood there,catching his breath,wanting to continue the useless boring fight.”Wow.You’ve got will of steel.” Complimenting the man with a slight sarcasm in his tone,Takumi intended to taunt the man to make the fight more easier for him to win.It would be easier for Takumi to beat the man down if he is pissed off,as Takumi would thought.Suddenly from the back,the other man started to sneak attack upon Takumi using a long pitchfork.”Hm?Sneaky huh?” Sighing,Takumi easily evaded two of the foolish man’s meaningless swings.Takumi backed away from both of the men,waiting for them to start attacking.Hopefully,the next incoming attacks would set the mood into the disappointing fight.

Aria raced after the assassins. They were fast but not as fast as her. In no time she was running along side by side by the slowest member in the group. With one low kick from behind sent the man tumbling towards an empty armor displayed along the corridor. There was a loud crash, the two remaining assassins looked back to see what the commotion was about but did not bother to go back to aide their comrade. They were assasins, they knew that missions came first, and they were going to fulfill theirs even at the costs of their team mates.

The down assassin stood up, discarding the pile of metal armor that fell on top of him. With sharp eye he scanned his surrounding for the mysterious girl. "I cant believe she's that fast." The man inspected himself for any wound or broken bones, no serious injuries, he can still fight if needed. The man took out a steal wire and waited for his assailant to attack. "There by the right side." A quick shadow was moving towards her. The took a side step at the last minute intending to turn the table around on her attacker. "Gotcha!" He said as he coiled the steel wire around her neck, but as soon as he did the image of the girl vanished. He felt a sharp pain in his chest, Aria was already in front of him with her dagger impaled on his chest. "Right back at you!"

Then in a blink of an eye she was gone again, leaving the man to fall down and die.

The two remaining assassins seems to be heading back towards the main lobby. They must be getting desperate if they they they can take out the official with just two of them in such a crowded spot, not to mention with body guards crawling all over the place. The lobby as indeed packed and the platform surrounded by lackeys, but the second floor over looking the ground floor was totally unguarded, not to mention the chandelier poised above the stage itself, just cut the line and presto, the official and his cohorts are dead. With this realization, Aria made haste, quickening her already fast movements. Time seemed to have stopped for her, everything went grey as she passed by. Im a blink of an eye she had over taken the two guys, there by blocking their exit towards the balcony.

"Just what the heck are you? Were the fastest in our guild and yet you managed to outrun us." The men were almost breathless but Aria was still fine, short sprints like that was nothing compared to her the daily jog she did every week.
